A Wonderful Life
#29 of Power to the Players | Nick and Skye
Another look into the past of Skye and Kaylee! And a late Christmas story in one!
"Wow! Can you believe it?" Skye spun around in a sudden tornado of fur. Her thick tail flailed behind her, always verging on destructive simply due to its sheer size. It's girth of the stripey appendage rivaled every other plush tail on campus as the biggest and most volatile.
"That you almost killed me with that tail?! Yes! I can believe it because you're always doing that!" Kaylee blurted back, raising a brow at the red panda as her lips stretched in a snarky smirk.
"Hey!" Skye whined, waving a disregarding paw at the leopardess as her eyes crinkled at their edges with laughter. "Don't be a snot so close to Christmas. You'll get your presents returned."
Kaylee dropped her mouth open wide, revealing the jaws filled with glittering, feline fangs as her face lit up with laughter. "What? Santa Paws wouldn't do that to me!"
"Would to, he doesn't appreciate when you're mean to your girlfriend." Skye's tongue popped from her mouth, waggling tauntingly at the girl before she pointed at the calendar she'd been marking up previously. "So, can I tell you my thing now?"
Kaylee, still smirking with her brilliant purple eyes glimmering, lifted a brow and rolling a hand through the air in a "go ahead" motion.
"To-Day is December 21st! Four days till Christmas!" Skye's entire face lit up, crinkles appearing in the coppery hues that led up from her eyes into her hairline while her grin burst forth from the white portion of her face. "And, at this very moment, we are done with the first semester of our junior years!"
"Wow... Kinda crazy, huh?" Kaylee mused for a moment, before a devious glint hit her eyes. "You know what this means, right?" She started to stalk forward slowly, a playful motion flicking her cool gray tail back and forth behind the rounded shape of her ass.
"Oh? What does this mean?" Skye asked innocently, raising her brows up into arcs above each of her warm, chocolatey eyes. Her smile only grew wider as Kaylee reached her, settling a hand on either hip and leaning into the soft panda. The leopardess leaned in, her lips casting a warm ghost across Skye's cheek before she reached her cupped ear with an airy whisper. "Guess~"
"Mmm.... " Skye's fingers found the tight squeeze of Kaylee's waist lingering just at the hem of her cut-off crop top with a small icon of a cat over each nipple with bold text layered overtop asking, "Lesbians Eat What?" stretched over the expanse of her breasts. Her fingertips rubbed into the thick downy fur of the feline, relishing the comfort of her plush touch. "It means... that we've been together almost a year and a half?"
"That's correct... but not what I'm thinking of." Kaylee scolded, nibbling idly at the girl's ear as they started to shift ever so slightly, unable to hold utterly still in the tempting embrace of the other. Their bodies shifted slightly, not grinding but hinting at it.
"It means... that we have a lot of packing to do to leave early tomorrow morning?" Skye asked, this time knowing that it wasn't right and smirking playfully.
"Nuh uh. That's later-me's problem. Right now... we have a responsibility to celebrate!" The leopardess's chest gave a faint rumble, the whisper of a purr, before she started to shimmy her hips to a song no one else could hear. "It means we've got to go somewhere, we've got to party! Got to throw caution to the wind-"
"And pack?" Skye interjected, chuckling to herself.
"And pack," Kaylee agreed, echoing it back. "But first, we take to the town! Fancy dinner, clubbing? Karaoke at the dive bar? What does your little heart desire before a Christmas at the ole Skye family mansion." She teased, knowing how Skye grew flustered at the mention of her "spoiled" lifestyle.
"Hey now. You won't be teasing when you're there." She nipped at the leopardess cheek, growling across the whispering gray furs. "You can't even... imagine the wonders I'll show you. The fanciest food- from anywhere in town... All the fancy dinners you want... wine that's actually been aged, aged longer than you've been alive..." She could see the sparkle in Kaylee's eyes, she was following along. "Hot tubs with mini bars in them. Oh... and my room?" Kaylee's brow lifted, expectant. "Has a fireplace right at the end of the bed. Just picture it... a long day, it's Christmas eve and we finally escape to the bedroom to make love in front of the roaring logs..."
"Okay, Okay. I won't tease you anymore then!" Kaylee blurted, chuckling under her breath as she dotted kisses up the deep brown expanse of Skye's chest above the line of her shirt, a tank top that read "Hands Off My Puddin'" with a seasonal Christmas pudding centered over each breast. "You know," Kaylee's voice softened, knowing she didn't want to tease the girl too much. "I am excited to spend Christmas with you this year... last year doesn't stand a chance of standing up.."
Skye's face lit up. "Right? Last year, I hated every second of that cruise thinking about you stuck with your uncle's family up north? Ick!"
"That... is the trouble of being a snow leopard is occasionally, people expect you to return to the snowy tundras of your homeland... It's terrible." Kaylee joked, nuzzling once more into Skye's shoulder before she pulled back. "Now, come on, for serious. We should do something fun."
"You're right. I need to blow off some steam in preparation for Mother-"
"Ah, Priscilla, the infamous."
"Yes! I'm still pissed my dad's going to be gone the whole time! Who goes on a business trip over Christmas break? Good Ole Maxwell does!" She scoffed, rolling her eyes, but she wasn't really mad; just disappointed that she'd be stuck with just her mother's company.
"Now, come on, she cannot be that bad?" Kaylee challenged, thinking of her own parents.
"What? She's terrible! She's just... so self-centered! So whiney! She's... she's really kind of annoying!" Skye met Kaylee's eyes, face somber.
Kaylee just laughed. "Trust me, she can't be that bad."
Skye found herself blinking, realizing suddenly that Kaylee never talked much about her family and she hadn't asked. "Hey, you like... have never told me anything about your family."
The leopardess shook her head, looking towards the floor. "It's nothing. A topic for another day." For a second, a thickness hung in the air; but then she added, "Here, since you're a ball of anxiety, how about we pack first?"
"That would be... so nice!" Skye exclaimed, clapping her hands together.
"Okay, goodie." Kaylee's face lit up, their violet hue glimmering with mischief as she waved a finger at their shared trunk beside her closet. "What toys then?"
"Is that really where we should be starting our packing?" A brow raised, bemused and just faintly annoyed.
"You're right! How can we decide without recent knowledge... And careful calculation. We don't want to seem suspicious... so we can't bring too much, so only the best, but also the novel that we haven't used enough? Oh... Oh my! However does one decide! We shall have to test them all!" She leapt towards the other girl, curling her arms around her in a mime of a tackle as her lips found Skye's muzzle.
"Oh come on, we don't have tim-" Skye's feeble complaint was broken by a fierce kiss.
"We've just finished the semester! We survived finals! Relax! Celebrate!" Kaylee shrieked, ever oblivious to the other souls in their dormitory bedroom. Her fingers found Skye full hips and pulled her tight front-to-front with a playful grind.
"You know what toy... I really... have missed," Kaylee started to drawl slowly. Her hips gave a small shimmy backwards, away from the red panda as she wandered towards their toy bin. With every shuffling step, her faint smile continued to dance on her muzzle.
"Mmm, what toy would that be?" Skye asked as her fingertips curled into the waistband of her shorts as her hips started to sway side to side in a visual dance as the fabric began to escape down the curves of her body.
Kaylee stared, even as she riffled through the expanse of their massive crate of toys collected over a year together. Her fingers brushed past the vibrating rabbit dildos in their brilliant jelly purple shades and she discarded the petite anal beads on their long, matte black cords.
"Turn around, I want to surprise you with it," Kaylee commanded, waving a fierce hand at the red panda opposite her.
"Can't you just pull it out and surprise me?" Skye asked, voice thick with sarcasm, but she turned nonetheless. Her tail bashed around behind her playfully, wildly as a marker of her growing excitement as, hidden from her view, Kaylee yanked something out from the box.
For a few seconds, only a smothered sort of tense sound came from the secretive leopard until she gave a cough. "Okay! Look upon me!"
Skye turned, her grin widening as she spun around only to look at the leopard with widening eyes. The speckled gray girl had donned a thick leather strap around either side of her waist to secure a dong, striped in candy cane red and white, that bobbed out in front of her atop her mounded sex. "What do you think? Merry enough?"
"Oh fuck yes-" Skye cursed, smirking before she leapt towards the other girl. Kaylee saw a flash of bright red and felt teeth on her neck. She felt the soft squish of breasts against her chest and the contrasting bullet of a hard nipple rubbing up her bottom lip. But she understood little else besides this tangle of fur and skin until she'd landed onto the cramped twin sized bed with Skye pinning her down as her hips ground against the silicon piece.
"This is exactly what I needed to put me in the Christmas spirit," She crooned, leaning down over the leopardess. Kaylee grabbed her hips, yanked her up, and helped to guide her wet lower lips to squeeze around the cock before she pulled her into a kiss. "Then, get over her and cum on Santa's lap~"
******
"Wo-ohhh..." Kaylee's breath rushed out in an elongated gasp as she leaned forward towards the front windshield to stare out at the mansion rising up into view as Skye guided the car up the long, winding driveway.
"Yeah, it's all a bit ridiculous..." She mumbled, already feeling pink dotting up her cheeks as she spied on the leopardess ogling the massive building. It's style was a blend of old, classically brick with a modernized gleam of fresh landscaping and glistening sports cars peeking out from an open, separate garage.
"A bit ridiculous? This is amazing!" Kaylee gasped, looking over at the girl with wide eyes. She tried to guess how many rooms were inside just based on the windows, but the number seemed to high to believe. "Seriously, this is so big! What do you do with it all?"
"Mostly, my mother shows off how much stuff she owns and how much better she is than anyone else..." Skye replied with a dry bite of sarcasm as she put the car into park.
Then, with a pause, she added. "Want to see the inside then?"
"Oh man! Yes!" Kaylee leapt out, nearly slamming her door into the knees of an attendant summoned the the rumble of Skye's engine to come help with their doors and luggage.
"You must be Miss Skye, then." The attendant greeted with a slight bow towards the red panda. She nodded, smiling kindly. "Yes, that's me. Thank you so much. You can leave the bags, we'll get them."
"Miss, we're happy to help-"
"If you insist, do you know which room is mine? Just put them inside, I don't need anything else." Skye gave another warm, but clearly tired smile as she reached out a hand for Kaylee. "Shall I give you the tour then?" She asked, clearly eager to ignore the existence of the staff, not out of lack of consideration for them, but out of embarrassment for employing them at all.
First, Skye led Kaylee around towards the back, where cool white tiles covered a back patio region that stretched far into a brilliant green yard. The white expanse was broken only by the glimmering blue of a massive, inset pool that butted up against a landscaped rock formation that dribbled calm, gentle waterfalls against the cove-like spot of the pool.
"Here's the backyard..." Skye introduced, waving a hand over the few tables and benches set about and the awning covered space with outdoor lounge seating. "The pool is heated to 78 degrees, usually. Sometimes mother cranks it hotter." For a second, Skye seemed to lit up out of her smothered shell with a grin. "Want to see the best part?"
Kaylee bobbed her head, still staring with wonder at the massive peaceful space. If she strained, all she could hear was the sound of the trickling water and distant birds, not a shred of road sounds reached the mansion's high spot atop its personal hill.
"Strip down." Skye instructed, smirking. Kaylee just raised a brow with an expression of, "Really? Now?"
The red panda just laughed and rolled her t-shirt over her head, revealing the simple Calvin Klien-esque fabric bra she wore beneath. Her shorts followed, landing onto the cool tile with a small whisper of the soft top hitting the hard flooring.
Kaylee followed suit, leaving her t-shirt over her skimpy lace bra before she held a hand out to Skye once more. "So what is this mystery than I had to disrobe for?"
"Follow me!" Skye kissed her hand before releasing it and sprinting towards the pool. For a second, Kaylee could only stare as the girl's tail bounced behind and her hair spread out like a cape in her wake. Then, she followed.
With an explosion of water, the two girls broke the calm surface. Skye wasted no time sucking in a lung-full of air and diving into the water once more, kicking her feet until she seemed to disappear.
Kaylee sucked up a gulp of air, leaping into her rippling wake only to open her eyes against the chemical bite to see a gaping hole in the side of the pool where Skye's tail curled into. She kicked hard, swimming towards the opening until she was inside a short tunnel of concrete.
Passing through it, she instantly kicked up at its end, searching for air only to find Skye's face sitting in the warm oxygenated space above the water. Kaylee spun around, seeing only the cool gray of rock on all sides of them.
"The rock is actually from a river bed somewhere and the water eroded a tunnel through it. When it was fitted onto the pool, my dad had them fit it so that it's a cave. My mother would never let water into her ears, so this is the one part of the pool that was always mine."
Kaylee stared through the dim space at the red panda, her lips curling up with a playful excitement as she cupped the girl's sides. "This is... very private isn't it?"
"Mmmm... what did you have in mind, naughty girl?" Skye whispered back, smirking as she met Kaylee's kiss with her own and pulled her in tighter. After a few blissful moments though, she pulled back. "If we spend too long out here, someone will come looking and we'll lose this spot for the whole trip-"
"Tour on then?" Kaylee completed, smiling before she gave a nod and returned through the secret, underwater entrance.
Back outside, they brushed across the rest of the yard, heading in through a large glass patio door into a crisp dining space. It was wide open, featuring high, expansive ceilings above the huge table in the center. A fireplace crackled idly against the wall in a cool, black brick.
"Then, the kitchen is over here..." Skye said, leading them past a cabinet where she fished out towels for their wet bodies before continuing through a massive sitting space, decorated in red and black tones on the white with a huge television on one wall and a grand piano centered on the opposite side of the rectangular room. A sleek black bar raced parallel to a billiards table.
"This is the appetizer room, affectionately so, because it's always here where people often mingle before appetizers are ready in the dining or kitchen room. It's basically a fancy sitting room. My dad designed what went into it... my mother got to pick how."
The kitchen followed suit, stretching over nearly the same space as the entire pool had from its tall cabinets to the massive granite island. Everything gleamed in chrome silver and shined perfection. "This is one of the best rooms, because it's so big!" Skye flashed Kaylee a grin, smacking a cabinet. "This one has all the baking supplies." Kaylee's eyes flared, staring up at the size of the cabinet, which was at least two times larger than their dorm fridge. "That's baking supplies?"
"Yeah, tips, icing bags, cupcake liners, cookbooks, my mixer, some pans and trays. It's mostly all the cupcake baking supplies-"
"Holy crap!" Kaylee blurted, nearly laughing at the idea of so much stuff.
"That is one of the benefits of having such a massive space," Skye conceded, flashing a shy, cheeky smile. "What do you want to see next?"
"What else is there?" Kaylee asked, but Skye just laughed and rolled her shoulder towards another doorway.
One by one, Skye led the leopardess through the guest rooms, each named for the art that hung in them most prominently. From the Monet room that featured a stone fireplace beneath the frame canvas of bright flowers and warm brown hues through the space to the Afremov room with brilliant, rustling white curtains facing opposite the orangey-red painting over the bed's cream tones.
"Isn't that... like kind of insane?" Kaylee whispered, staring at the paintings with a mixture of wonder and horror. "Couldn't someone just steal it?"
"Well, not really. That'd be a big faux pas.." Skye chuckled. "But really, what better way to show off your collection besides telling someone, 'Oh, tonight you'll sleep underneath the Monet painting... or 'Make sure to enjoy that Millais as you fall asleep tonight,' It's a clever move, honestly."
"It's just.... I can't even.." Kaylee stumbled over herself, searching for the words she wanted. "Just how so much money?"
Skye just shrugged, laughing a bit as she nodded to another door. "Wanna see the Cat room?"
"Huh?"
"It's my room, but my mother likes to refer to it as the Cat room, because then she can at least try to remind people there's expensive art in here too."
"Oh?"
Skye nodded, opening the door to the simplistic bedroom, featuring a bit more life with the suitcases piled into it, the desk featuring a splayed computer system across its dark oak surface, and a bed layered with shades of blue. Centered above the desk was a rather small frame featuring a sketch-like painting of a cat with bright blue eyes.
"It's a Louis Wain," Skye explained, shrugging. "Mother wanted me to pick an artist of the vintage era to display. I told her that I didn't want to have some pretentious room to display. She insisted. So I picked the man who painted cats. Father told her I had done my half of the bargain, and it was settled. So, the cat room."
Before Skye could say anything more, a slight creak came from the door. "Well, there you are!" The two girls turned at the sound of the voice, a high pitched sound that seemed to trill in a false, musical not at the end of each sentence. Her heels clicked slightly as she stepped out of the wood-floored hallway as she rounded into the bedroom. "Skye, were you not going to come say hello?"
Kaylee stared, she couldn't believe how alike Skye was to Priscilla at least physically. They were both red pandas, with matching coloring throughout their fur coats. However, where Skye's hair was a mane of wild, free flying locks, Priscilla's was cut in a short, sleek bob that framed around her face in a sleek, dyed black color. Kaylee remembered, faintly, that Skye had said that her red hair came from her father's side.
"The black... suits her," Kaylee thought, realizing the harsh color seemed to match the woman's tongue as she led into the room with her fierce, passive aggressive greeting. Her haircut is shockingly crisp, the line of the slanted bob's edge was perfectly even, obviously a fresh cut. However, Kaylee had a feeling that it always looked fresh. While Skye stepped towards her mother, greeting her in a few, memorized lines about how the roads were, how much gas she used, and such the leopardess took the time to rush her eyes down this woman's form.
It felt strange to suddenly have the physical being in front of her who she'd heard so many stories about. So many times Skye had growled, "Ugh! My mother!" and Kaylee could only imagine what kind of fierce, evil red panda could embody those tales. Yet, this woman looked perfectly sweet. Though, she didn't look warm.
Besides her clean haircut, she wore a tailored silk top that cut low on her chest, but without showing a lick of cleavage. It was a pale shade of gold to compliment the tones of red in her fur and was perfectly fitted to the shape of her shoulders and the pinch of her thin waist where it melded exactly to the waistband of a crisp, black pencil skirt that hugged down her hips through her thighs before it cut with a dainty slit on her right. Her heels were basic black pumps, though Kaylee could spy the signature Louis Vuitton coloring hidden beneath the arch of her foot.
"Simple, but so expensive..." Kaylee thought, sniffing at the air. "Probably a Chanel."
"Anyways, Mom-" Skye cut the woman off from her rambling about gas prices and how she wished attendants still pumped all the gas with a gesture to Kaylee beside her. "This is Kaylee. Kaylee, this is my mum Priscilla!"
"Kaylee," The woman turned to the leopardess, fixing her eyes on her with new intensity. "I was so happy to hear that Skye had made a friend at school who would expose her to a different sort of lifestyle. That's what the university is really for, hmm? New life experiences?" She smiled, stepping closer for an airy hug with the stiff young woman.
"Yes, I'm so happy to finally meet you-" Kaylee blurted, though she squinted with furrowed brows for a second as she processed what the woman had said.
"Has Skye given you the tour then?" Priscilla asked, gesturing towards the hall.
"Yes, yes." Kaylee assured, nodding with a growingly false smile on her face.
"Well, wonderful. Anywho, I'd better push off and go prepare-" She turned towards the door, but Skye blurted after her: "Wait! For what?!"
"Well, for the party of course." She blinked at Skye, looking at her like she was missing something obvious. "I would hate for your friend to not get the experience of Christmas. I've planned us a wonderful theme for each day until Christmas, starting tonight to kick it off! It'll be a grand event. We've purchased a 50 pound turkey, but they'll also be veal and caviar. That wonderful young man, Brendan La Courveir is going to come play the piano, all the classic Christmas melodies-"
"Mom!" Skye yelped at her. "How big is this party?"
"Oh... just the usual. You've been to our parties." Priscilla stared at her with another look of utter confusion.
Skye groaned. She was all too familiar with what one of their parties looked like. Their parties always had house tours and meandering clusters of people throughout the entire mansion- even with its dozen rooms. She exchanged a stricken glance with Kaylee, but didn't say anything.
Kaylee could see the stress in Skye's eyes even without a word. She could see what she was thinking, "People all over means we won't be finding anywhere to be alone..." Kaylee groaned internally, though she kept her smile plastered on her face.
"Why didn't you tell me about this beforehand? We wanted to relax. We just finished finals."
"Honey, I don't know what you mean. A party is the perfect time to relax. And everyone is excited to see you, it's been so long you know." Her words were rather calm, but the real message was: "Since you never come home, I needed to have you make an appearance now so people didn't think I was a bad mother!"
"A party is not relaxing! It's all about appearances and smiling and hand shaking and answering the same questions a million times. It's awkward and annoying and not at all what we had planned!"
"Well, perhaps if you called me this week it would have come up in conversation," Priscilla just smirked for a blip of a second before she gave a small nod. "Now, I must go check on the lobsters."
With that, she dismissed herself from the room, pulling the knob as she went but leaving it just slightly, frustratingly ajar in her wake.
"Ugh!" Skye groaned, her hands shooting up towards her face with all five fingers splayed in a look of angst. "She always does this! She just takes everything for herself, sucks up all the air, makes plans without consulting anyone- and with my father away, there's no one to reason with her! She would never reason with me! No, not me! Heaven forbid she listen to her daughter. Hell no! She couldn't realize for a second that I might be tired, that I might want to call it in! That I might want to spend time with my own guest instead of fawning over all the old snots that live around here-"
"Hey, hey..." Kaylee murmured, moving to the red panda's side and gently pulling on her elbow to shift her body towards her. Her lips graze against her jaw line. "Shh.... It'll be fine, okay? We'll try to have fun. Besides, I've never even had lobster in my life."
Skye leaned into the leopardess warm arm that half-hugged around her, sighing into the puffy fur of her neck. "Well, I guess... that's crazy enough that we should stay." She was silent a second longer, accepting another short kiss this time meeting the corner of her mouth. "They'll be crab puffs too~"
"Perfect. This will be... okay. We'll make it fun. Okay?" Kaylee squeezed Skye arm, looking into her warm brown eyes until a flicker of hope sparked inside them. "Okay, okay. We'll be fine." She leaned in, stealing a kiss from the girl. "Thanks for always being awesome. Sorry you had to... deal with all this."
"Don't even worry about it," Kaylee just smiled, honestly agreeing with the sentiment. Everyone's parents sucked, even great parents were clingy, overprotective, embarrassing, or something that made them less-than-perfect. She of all furs knew that parents weren't part of someone's personality, just the package they came in. "Come on, let's unpack."
******
"Well, you look... amazing," Kaylee breathed, staring into Skye's warm eyes with a glimmer in her own. Though quickly, her gaze wandered down the length of Skye's body, admiring how the girl cleaned up in her 'proper' party attire. Her dress was a pale shade of gold and sleeveless. It was rather simple, with a tight bodice and a flared skirt that hung just past her knees, but the overlay of dainty black dots over top of the satin made the entire dress look expensive. For once, Skye's hair was up at her mother's insistence that it be "under control" for the evening. When Skye had merely scoffed at this, a hairdresser had appeared to force the hair to consent. So, it was lifted up into a coiled bun at the back of her hair with curls spilling out from it down her back and a few careful pieces framed around her face.
Aesthetically, she looked beautiful. From the dainty heels she wore to the small rhinestones placed in the curls of her hair to catch the light, but her face was sour.
"I feel like I'm going to die. This thing... is like a medieval torture device," Skye whimpered, pouting.
"Yeah, I was shocked to see the level of boning inside there..." Kaylee murmured back, breathing deeply as if on impulse. She'd been graciously loaned a dress to wear, Priscilla dropping it by the room: "Here, darling. I would hate for you to feel unprepared for an evening such as tonight. I think this will fit your toosh- the ruffles will hide it anyways. So, you don't look out of place!"
Slipping into it, Kaylee's pride had stung faintly, but she was in the end thankful to match everyone else's lavish clothing with her own. The dress chosen was magnificent, a pale shade of peach pink that seemed to perfectly contrast the leopardess gray and blue toned fur, yet didn't clash with her hair. "I'll give it to the woman, she has the touch..." The leopardess thought, sliding her arms into the see through sleeves and wiggling them till the intricate floral pattern appeared smoothly over her fur. The entire dress hugged tight to her form, scalloped edges framing her cleavage and a belt tying off her midsection, but a flared mini-train scooped down from the belt, accentuating her small waist and hiding her rump before the sleek dress flowed downwards.
"Now you, actually look amazing." Skye countered finally, meeting Kaylee's eyes with a half-smile just barely reaching her own. "Sorry I'm such a sour puss. I just hate all this dress up and these facades... but-" She glanced around the for-now empty kitchen and placed her arm around the leopardess back, pulling her closer. "It is a nice chance to see you all cleaned up."
"Girls!" Priscilla's voice suddenly breaks into their private moment, shattering the thin veil of cheer Skye had just erected. Her smile slipped again as the elder red panda ushered them into the main banquet hall. "Mingle in here, guests are arriving any second!"
Already, waiters hovered at the edge of the room carrying trays of mixed cocktails and bite-sized appetizers though there was a bar just in the next room with a full menu of options. Skye and Kaylee scoffed faintly, hunting down the man with the crab puffs as guest did begin to trickle in.
"Oh! Lobster boy! Please, enhance this woman's life!" Skye commanded, laughing as the first group entered the room. She merely met their eyes and gave a small, ladylike courtesy before she turned back to Kaylee with the small lobster bite in her palm. "Come now, learn of the sea's gift."
The more guests that arrived, the more Skye found her bantering with Kaylee interrupted either by old family friends forcing themselves right into the conversation to greet Skye or her mother's more orchestrated intrusions.
"Ooh! Could it be? Little Skye all grown up? How's the University treatin' you? You learning typing?"
"Well, you see, young lady! When I was back in college..."
"Your mother sure does miss you when you're gone for so long you know. She always tells us when we play bridge..."
Skye just smiled, meeting each one with a good-natured laugh, a brief chat, and a dismissal so she could double back to Kaylee with a freshened glass to bring her and another one of the chef's small masterpieces. It was only through the crunch of buttery biscuits and earthy truffle shavings that they made it an hour into the night.
"Skye, dear. Come. I want you to meet someone," Priscilla's smile seemed to meet her hairline it stretched so wide.
"Uh, Kaylee. I'll be right back okay?" She asked, already being pulled away as she grimaced apologetically. The leopardess just smiled, waving her off before she looked down into the surface of her third martini with a low groan. She clicked the empty olive stick around, took a swig, and then scanned out to find Skye in the crowd.
"Skye! This is Matthew! He's Charlene's son, he's going to Hah-vard right now." A squinty lemur suddenly swam in front of Skye's eyes as his hand bumped out into the space between them.
"I am so delighted to finally meet you-" He said, taking her handshake and mutating it into a kiss atop her knuckles, Skye smirked and wondered if he could smell the lingering scent of Kaylee smeared over them from the car ride earlier. "I've been hoping we could discuss the work of Keats together sometime, I heard you like literature."
"Oh, dear. That does sound very fun, but-" Skye turned to find her mother for support, but the woman had slipped off leaving her in this awkward set-up with this stuffy, scholastic loser.
Skye smirked, setting her shoulders back with a glimmering smile. Only in her eyes could one see the flash of mischief, her smile was all flowery. Her tone came out like honey, sticky and sweet. "Oh, you know. I would love to talk literature, but I'd much prefer to discuss Lolita. I think the undercurrents of sexual tension are really rare to see in older writing and I love to discuss the allure of a young, nubile young woman. You see, I think women really have a certain magic to them... don't they, Matty? A certain, draw to them?" Her words had slowed, tempting the boy with their drawling pace. "I think that we'd like to pretend we want the romance of Keats, but don't we really want to lust? The need? The forbidden fruit that we're just dying to grasp?" The boy was growing redder by the second, coloring every bit of white fur down his stripey tale.
"U-u-uh... You know, I just saw Miss Matrida come in. I must go say hello!" He dismissed himself, scurrying away with thighs close together. Skye just scoffed, hissing out through her teeth before she weaved back to Kaylee.
"God! They are all the same! Money and cuhl-ture!" She laughed, briefly touching the leopardess hand, as if searching for her comforting touch in the most innocent way. Kaylee smiled at her, pushing over a plate of small, sliced cheeses. "Behold, comfort in the purest forms. Dairy!" They chuckled together, momentarily finding reprieve in the creamy hold of Camembert before Priscilla's tingling voice warbled over them again.
"Dahling, you must come meet Mrs. Erickson's nephew. He's dashing! Just wonderful!"
"Mother, I'm not interested in meeting any young men right now." Skye shot back, bluntly. For a second her mother's smile faltered (but only a second!).
"What are you saying? I didn't mean for that! Posh! I simply want you to meet him so you can discuss! You see, he just returned from an expedition to Norway's oldest..." The rest of her introduction faded into noise as Skye was pulled away, Kaylee stared after her, watching as the corners of her mouth twitched into their formation to hold her fake smile.
"God..." The leopardess sighed, feeling a tight pang in her chest. "I've never seen her so... miserable." Her eyes wandered out to where the red panda stood, shuffling from heel to heel as another boy breathed onto her about his accomplishments and fund and her mother prattled on beside her. She could see the way Skye's tail twitching madly, irritated and distressed. It smacked against her skirt every few seconds, wanting to hide. "She's just miserable."
For a second, Kaylee thought for a mere second about escaping. "God, my house can't be this bad for her.." Her gut twisted at the thought of returning home. She hadn't stepped foot on the church on campus, avoided it like a haunted mansion. Haunted with the memory of her own upbringing which was an entirely different kind of terrible. "But, it would get Skye away from this, and at least there'd be privacy." She could see her house's thick walls, insulated to dull all the outside noise so nothing disturb their sanctuary for Jesus, their prayers couldn't be muddled by noise, and so no one would hear their blaring gospel songs. "Sex would at least... burn all this away!"
"What's one more miserable holiday?" Kaylee thought, briefly pausing to set her glass on a passing tray before she slipped out of the hall and into a side room as she tugged her phone out from her bra. "Let's see what my family says..."
******
"GOD! She really thinks that if she introduces me to a boy with a big enough trust fund then I'll just convert!" Skye groaned, meeting Kaylee just as she came back into the large banquet hall. "Hey, where'd you go? How could you sneak off without me?"
Kaylee took her arm, leaning into her to whisper into her ear. "Oh, I didn't sneak off without you. I planned an escape!"
"What?"
"Yep!" She grinned, ears perking up. "How would you like to flee to my family's house instead? I called and they invited the two of us there for the holidays instead."
Skye's face faltered. She didn't know much, but she knew Kaylee didn't go home. Not for weekends. Not for breaks. Ever. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah! Yeah! It'll be way more low-key. I mean, you've gotta be prepared to basically believe you're in church 24/7 and that Jesus could stop by any moment and that he will kill the sinners annnnnnnd all of that fun stuff; but at least there we can fuck." She smirked, face breaking with a smile. She held her lips up, knowing Skye would be happier there if she could just convince her.
"Okay, okay! You sold me! Let's get the hell out of here!"
They grab hands, slipping right back out the door Kaylee had stepped in from and they doubled around the house, rushing to Skye's bedroom as their heels clicked in echoes down the hall with each and every stride.
In the room, they kicked away the heels, shimmying the dresses down their hips, and threw their belongings back into their duffel bags while hoping legs down into jeans simultaneously.
"Wow! I can breath again!"
"I'm actually covered in glitter-"
They laughed, both happy to be in their usual clothes before they grabbed for the bedroom handle and threw it open only to see the stern glare of Priscilla standing in its frame.
"What are you doing, Skye? Where are you going?" Her eyes darted to her bag, a new edge in her voice. "Where do you think you are going?"
Skye puffed up her chest, meeting the woman's eyes without flinching. "I am leaving." She went to step forward, but the woman didn't move.
"I have a list, Skye- Literally, a list of people I want you to meet downstairs. You cannot just leave now. We are in the middle of hosting-"
"No!" Skye interrupted. "You are in the middle of hosting some big game of pretend downstairs. But I am leaving." She pushed passed her, using her shoulder to actually shove the woman out of their path. "I'll be spending my holiday with real people!"
******
"Wow, so this is it?" The car had just come to a stop in front of a simple, two-story home in the center spot of a cul-de-sac. A massive weeping willow hung across the yard in front, hiding half of the house in its shadow while small, picturesque shutters decorated the front windows. They'd finally arrived at Kaylee's childhood home.
"Yep." The leopardess slapped the wheel with a sigh, pressing her lips together for a moment before sputtering out more air. "This is it. Chez moi." She turned to Skye, as though to check again that she had everything down, but the red panda interupted.
"Your parents are a bit nuts. Jesus is everything. I am straight. We are close friends, but hella-hella straight friends. No lesbians. Lesbians bad. Jesus no love lesbians. I love Jesus and dick. I hate pussy, I don't even know the word pussy. To me pussy means tabby cat that I might pet while reading the Bible." She smirked, flashing a sparkle of her classic sarcasm. She squeeze Kaylee's hand.
"Okay, fine. You've got it all."
"You only spent two hours warning me about it all. It's okay. You survived my mother. I'll survive your parents."
"Okay." Kaylee nods, seemingly finally really agreeing. "Everyone should be asleep, so... let's keep it that way!"
They slowly escaped the car, wiggling and stretching in the driveway before they gather up their bags and tiptoe inside. They dump the things into their respective rooms, Skye cast to a guest room down the hall from Kaylee's spot. Then, separately, they fall asleep in the dead of the quiet night.
******
"Wow! I can't believe it's already Christmas Eve!" Skye flashed a look over to Kaylee who leaned back into the cushion of the couch beside her. They both grinned.
Yesterday they'd really enjoyed the entire day. It had been the opposite of Skye's mansion. Simple and stress free. The most challenging moment of the entire day came over breakfast, meeting the infamous pair who raised Kaylee, but even that went smoothly.
"So, you must be Skye. We're so excited to have you in our blessed home," Amelia purred out in a soft voice as her husband, Jonathan stepped to her side. "We hope that you'll sit with us for our morning prayer before breakfast. We've made some bread, fresh, this morning to break with you."
Skye could feel their eyes on her, intensely watching her smile as she nodded and happily accepted the welcome. She could almost hear their minds churning: "Is this really a friend? This isn't some... lesbian, is it?"
She smiles to herself, realizing that if they point blank asked, she could technically say she was a friend without hesitating. The two had always been friends above all else.
"Would you like to lead us in prayer?"
Skye blinked, but recovered quickly. "Please, it's your home. You should have the honor-"
The couple smiled, nodding. They seemed pleased she had passed this test, even by evasion. The prayer drawled on, but the bread was delicious and soft. They ate, thanking them both profusely before they escaped to explore the town Kaylee grew up in.
They wandered the town all day, eating toffee made from the local shop while sipping the handmade vanilla creme sodas from the downtown cafe that stocked them. Snow fell lightly, adding a crunch beneath their boots as they explored, enjoying the crisp air and the freedom.
That night, they'd finally truly had fun after Skye slipped across the sleeping hall from her guest room to Kaylee's and explored the long abandoned childhood, closet toys she'd left behind.
With examples, Kaylee told the stories of all her first masturbation sessions. Skye didn't understand though, so she demonstrated.~
"Are you excited for presents?" Kaylee murmured, winking once. A voice wafted from the kitchen, where Amelia was prepared dinner. "You mean, excited for Jesus's birthday?"
"Yes, mother! I was just joking about presents!" She flared her nostrils, meeting Skye's eyes with a silent laugh.
"Good, now come on in. Dinner will be ready soon. Wash up first!" The girls trudged to the bathroom, scrubbing away the grime of the day before they wandered into the dining room only to see a new face seated at the head of the table, Skye glanced over at Kaylee, looking for guidance.
"Hello, Pastor Joseph.." Kaylee greeted, glancing to her parents for a moment, as though expecting they'd explain why they sprung a surprise guest on them. At the same time, she felt like she'd transported back to her childhood, tramping to church every Sunday just to watch this man blabber on in the front of the room. To make matters worse, he was one of the only souls in the town who knew her orientation since her parents revealed it to him in their pleading confessions searching for guidance.
She wished she could debrief Skye, to warn her; but all they could do was take a seat at the table as Amelia brought the bread over.
"So, Skye. Tell me how college has been. Has it been illuminating of your path?" The pastor asked, voice booming and slow. Even Skye felt her fur prickling at the sight of him, and she was rarely unnerved, but she twitched up the corners of her mouth into her glowing party smile and stared down the man. "We actually haven't met yet. I'm Skye, Kaylee's friend!" She gave a warm smile, but the man just grunted.
"So, I see college has not helped in your wandering from the righteous path-" His head gave a slow shake, but Amelia stepped in. "Oh, Skye is just a close friend. They take classes together."
He coughed, disbelievingly, but his chest filled with air. "Well, that is comforting to hear! These values today are just wavering all over! You never know anymore if someone is a good soul, a saved soul. Everyone used to be a good Christian, but now there's no way to know! Good Christian values are just being obliterated across America!"
"Pastor, you are so right!" Jonathan agreed, booming as he set the platter of fish onto the table followed by warm, oven-roasted potatoes. "Please, do us the honor of blessing tonight?"
"Oh! Of course!" His hands slapped together into a clasped fist. His oily lids sunk closed. "Lord, please do us the honor. Let us bless our daily bread in your name, in your honor. We ask, humbly, as servants of you that you'll hear us..." His voice rumbled on, becoming a hum in the background as Skye snuck her hands into her lap and every so lightly brushed a finger to Kaylee's leg, just enough to remind her: "I'm here."
Following the twenty minute blessing, she needed that reassurance.
Dinner rapidly dissolved from its start, getting steadily worse for Kaylee as their guest took his place at the head of the table as his altar.
"Everyone nowadays is selfish, rushed. They think they can honor God in their cell phones? No! God provides us all we need in life! We don't need this Amazon, furthering everyone's greed! We need humility! We need humble returns! We need to find our roots! Our roots in God! A tree planted in God's almighty power is one that will grow tall, but a tree planted in the easy, soft dirt will topple in a storm!"
As the fish all disappeared and Kaylee emptied her fifth glass of distressed, gulped down water, the preacher's monoloque turned even sharper.
"You know what is the trigger for all this havoc? It is the acceptance of homosexuality! This culture, this society is teaching kids everywhere that this sin is normal, is a trait?! If we can accept this sexual sin, why strive to God's greatness? It is dissolving the roots we parents planted!"
Kaylee bit her lip, stiffening her jawline as she breathed in a long breath. She closed her eyes for a second, but said nothing. Skye twitched her tail beneath the table, ensuring it would bump and brush to Kaylee's leg, but there was only so much she could do to help her. Instead, she could only watch her suffer as this man ranted.
"Just last week, I cured a local man of his homosexual tendencies! It was a gift from the Lord himself to watch him cast aside his sins! He was a changed man! Freed of his lust, freed from his sin! Forgiven by the grace of Jesus Christ! Together, God and I made him see the Light of Holy purity!"
The man turned suddenly, fixing his gaze straight onto Kaylee. "When you decide to save yourself one day, I would be blessed to help you through the same process to find God once more and cast aside this sinful habit."
Kaylee grit her teeth harder, grinding the molars against each other until her gums throbbed. Her eyes flicked to her parents, hoping despite herself that they'd defend her, but instead she found them nodding along.
"Yes, we'd support you fully through this journey!" Jonathan blurted, looking towards his daughter with a beaming smile, oblivious to the hate embedded in their words.
"We can't wait until you turn back towards a true life."
Kaylee blinked her eyes, flickering them faster. She felt a lump growing in the back of her throat as everyone at the table seemed to turn on her. Skye sat at her side, her gaze moving from each of the people at the table.
The priest's nostrils flared, impassioned with this moment. His eyes glistening like a man seeing a nude body dribbled in oil. He seemed excited by this sickening moment.
Kaylee's parents were nodding, bobbing their heads like buoys on a beach line. They were still muttering their 'support' echoing back the sentiments of Pastor Joseph.
And Kaylee, Kaylee broke Skye's heart in a single glance. At a single look, she could see the tremor in her bottom lip. Her ears were twitching, threatening to fold back while her tail entangled in the legs of her chair.
Skye felt her heart starting to pound harder. She fought back her instincts for a moment, but her mother's voice echoed in her head: "Where do you think you're going?" She felt so helpless, so powerless all over again. She heard the priests words echoing, thundering. She could hear the faintest sniffle coming from Kaylee beside her.
"Enough!" She shouted, standing up with a shriek of her chair's leg on the tile. Her hand slammed onto the table, rattling forks and glasses alike. "You all shut the hell up!" Her finger waved through the air, accusing each of the adults at the table before she turned to Kaylee, yanking her up into her arms with a fierce, passionate kiss. In her mind, the kiss wasn't calculated, wasn't meant to spit back their hateful use of religion, but was meant to tell Kaylee everything she'd been thinking: "You're loved. They're wrong. You're perfect just like this. I'm here, and I love you."
Her lips whispered the message in a forceful kiss, one the leopard returned as her parents looked on in shocked horror. Their mouths both fell open, becoming gaping holes of black as their eyes looked on without blinking.
Pastor Joseph was another story. He leapt to his feet. "How dare you do this in front of me!? In this holy space!"
Skye broke the kiss, looking him right into his eyes. His imposing presence wasn't enough anymore. Her chest puffed. Her tail flared out to double its massive size. She shifted her body, as though shielding Kaylee from his words. "How dare I do what?"
"You-you sinner! You will rot in hell for this act! Will it be worth it then? Will your time with this sinner now as a mortal be worth eternal damnation?"
Skye stared at him. Her normally warm chocolate eyes were fiery and fierce. She was having none of this. She stalked a step closer to the man, even letting the tip of her fangs show. "Don't you try to save me..." She took in a sharp intake of air, hissing it back out. "Don't you try to save either of us now or ever. You cannot save anybody when you are the rotten evil in this world." She paused, grabbing Kaylee's hand behind her. "And I'll save us both right now-"
With that, she pulled the girl towards the door without even thinking of their things upstairs. She just scooped up their coats and threw open the front door.
All the adults followed, skittering after with meek dismay. Jonathan, chin tipped down, muttered just as they pushed passed the screen door: "I'll pray for you, Kaylee!"
"Pray for your own fucking souls!" She shouted back, hitting the door so it'd shut before she heard another word. Then, free but defeated, they took to Skye's car. Once the doors locked on either side of them, they just went still. The fight fizzled out of Skye and she took a long breath.
Kaylee, for a long moment, said nothing. Then, with a sharp breath, she started to sob. "I knew this was going to happen. I just knew it! They'd never just... be cool!" She sucked in another breath, fueling a wail. "Why did I ever think this was a good idea? WHY?!"
Skye just took a long breath, grabbing onto her hand with a squeeze. "Hush. It's okay. Nothing's been ruined. Sure, it's been shitty till now, but it's only Christmas Eve. We have that special day still, and now, all to ourselves."
Kaylee, wiping snot up her sleeve, sniffled hard. "Where will we even go? Campus is closed down and hours away..."
"Nuh uh uh. Just relax. I know exactly what to do."
******
"We need a room through the end of the week, yes. Thank you!" Skye grabbed up the keys across the front desk before she turned to Kaylee, who still looked cloudy. "Come on, let's go see our digs, hmm?" She led the way, holding the leopardess warm palm with every step until they reached the little corner room with two large windows. The one benefit of snagging a motel room so close to Christmas, not too many people are staying out on the fringe of town away from their family's home or closer bed and breakfasts.
Side-by-side, they explore the room from squishing the bed's pillows to throwing open the bathroom to inspect the small tub.
Together, they deemed it perfect.
"Good then! Come on!"
"Now where?"
"You'll see," Skye sang, smiling as she led Kaylee back to their chariot once more.
******
"Where are we even going?" Kaylee asked, finally feeling some of the hovering cloud above her fading to let in Skye's cheerful light. They had just pulled away from the hotel's parking lot, speeding onto the dark highway to lead back towards town.
"Well, we can't very well have a Christmas with nothing, can we? We left all our things behind." She turned the wheel, guiding them into the far lane as they raced down the otherwise empty road. For everyone else, Christmas Eve was well underway. Everyone else was lingering at the kitchen table with turkey filling their bellies, slumped on the couch watching A Christmas Story, or tucking their kids into bed early and straining to hear reindeer hooves.
Skye turned the car down the main street of the town, rolling down through the town road by road.
"What are you looking for?"
"A Walgreen's that still open!" She responded, spotting one just as she said it. She turned in a swerve towards the store, coming to a slamming stop. "We're going to have our own Christmas!"
The red panda nodded towards the door, flashing Kaylee her toothy smile. "Come on!" Together, they headed through the automatic doors into the dead store. Skye led the charge with her tail a fluffy bridge between herself and Skye as she lunged forward into action. She streamed through the main holiday aisle, rapidly plucking up packets of discounted candy, cocoa, and miniature gifts in a blur of red fur. She grabbed up a tube of wrapping paper, circled around and stole a loud, smacking kiss for the leopardess, and then fled down the drink aisle.
Kaylee could only rush after her, trying to keep up as Skye scoured through the marked down goods in a tornado of string lights, marshmallows, and fluffy hats. "What are you going to do with all this?" She shouted after her, laughingly.
"I'm making Christmas!" Skye blurted back, looking over her shoulder with her face cracked like a geode with laughter glimmering out. "Now, come on!"
******
"My... arms... are... gonna break-" Kaylee croaked, groaning as Skye pushed their key into the door's reader seemingly in slow motion as her own arms wobbled, trying to hold up the bags all looped over her own wrist.
With a grand shove, the door finally swung inwards. Both girls stumbled in, gasping as they heaved their dozens of bags up onto the bed. "God..." Kaylee gasped, rubbing down her arms.
Skye turned towards her, smiling. "Okay, now. I have to ask you a favor." She took a step closer to the leopardess. In her mind, she could still see Kaylee's quivering lip during dinner as she rubbed up her arms and pulled her closer. "I want you to strip down out of all of this..." Her fingers gently started to guide Kaylee's pants down the curve of her butt and the straps of her top off her shoulders. "Then, I want you to run the bath, pour in all the body wash bottles, and take a long bubble bath until you feel like you're actually relaxed."
Kaylee's face broke with a slight smile, her body shifting to help Skye's slow undressing as she leaned into her with a soft kiss. "Fine, but only if you'll leave the door open so I'm not quite so alone in there."
"Mmm.... deal." Skye led the girl into the bathroom, cranking the water hot as she plugged up the tub and poured the soaps beneath the spray of the flooding water. For a moment, she bounced between the rooms, digging out some things from their purchases until she returned with a package of red and white bath bombs and a crinkling packet. "Some Christmas-y goodies to put you in the right mood!" She introduced, holding Kaylee's paw as she stepped into the tub.
She lingered for a second at the edge of the tub, dropping the fizzing treats into the warm water and helping to crack the single use packet of the fur mask before she gently massaged it into Kaylee's cheeks and around the short furs of her face. "Now, just close your eyes and relax for me. Okay?"
Kaylee could only smile, agreeing with her as the red panda left with a kiss.
Not two seconds later, music began to play from their cell phones, somehow synced to the same crooning Christmas carols in each room. The soft voice saying Christmas time was here was only interrupted by the crinkling and thunking of Skye racing around the main bedroom of their small temporary home.
Hidden from Kaylee, Skye hung lights from each corner of the room, spreads the sparkling glow in drooping scallops across the plain white walls. She threw a cheesy throw blanket decorated with Santa-hat-wearing cats over top of the drab, tan bedding on the bed. She threw open the next bag, setting out Snowman shaped mugs onto the table while she heated water in the microwave and dumped cocoa into each Frosty. Marshmallows followed, waiting in the bottom of the glass for the hot water.
Plates spread across the flat expanse of the bed, their surfaces covered in dancing elves and glittering reindeer that were soon hidden beneath red and green M&Ms and chocolate-striped kettle corn.
Pom-Pom garlands strang from the curtain rod, dangling strings of seasonal colors overtop of the heavy curtains. The song switched, warning them that Santa was coming to town as Kaylee started to scrub at her fur, feeling the grime of the day washing away as she lost herself in the bustling noise of Skye in the next room.
She heard the tear of cardboard, as Skye broke out a pile of candy canes onto the bedside table.
Then, the rustle of bags as she dug out all the pre-packaged gift sets that she set beneath their 3 foot, "sold-as-is" Charlie Brown Christmas tree they'd found left in the remains of the pick-your-own trees outside. Skye draped a single sparkle of tinsel over its top before she tucked bottles of massage oil and fancy boxes of truffles beneath its branch.
She dug into the rest of the bags, throwing the puffs of airy plastic behind her like the smoke kicked up by her rapid decorating. Carefully, she juggled small jars of oils as she freed the single remaining french loaf of bread they'd been able to find. She jumped between their tiny tree, tucking under last minute gifts and the bed's wooden tray where she stockpiled their snacks.
Last, she extracted out a massive bottle of fake champagne, the only kind she would drink and set it into the filled ice bucket on the bed stand.
For a moment, Skye finally paused after everything had been stripped and freed and hung around the room. Her hands rested on her hips, staring out over the transformation of the room; but one thing was still missing.
"Kaylee?" She called out, turning back to the bathroom's partially opened door. "You ready?"
Kaylee sighed, hearing Skye's voice finally as she shifted in the warm water. Bubbles popped and leapt off of her breasts as she rolled over to lift herself out of the lukewarm tub. "Yes! Please come rescue me! I'm a prune!"
Skye laughed, heading into the sight of the naked dripping leopardess. She just grinned at her, gently wrapping her in four of the rough hewn towels before she tugged her towards the bed, "Come 'er."
The hotel room, before such a one-toned and drab space, had been covered in the hues and light of Christmastime. Lights tangled from the walls all around the room, glittering like stars against the tan wall while banners of bright red and popping green hung below the strands of bulbs. The bed was covered with cheesy blankets, no longer the rough, unfamiliar topper of a hotel bed, but instead a cozy nest of tangled fabrics. Skye's tail bumped into the back of Kaylee's thigh, "What movie do you think is on?"
Kaylee smiled back at her, for the first time of the night, feeling no regret for where they'd ended up for Christmas. "We'll just have to see..."
******
The two take to the bed. They turn down all the lights and bask in the flickering, dancing lights of the bulbs hung from the wall and the television's glow. One by one, they watch It's a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story as their hands wander over each other's shoulders, down into the thick fur and along the curve of each hip and around their stomachs as they cuddle and idly chew on the Walgreen's feast before them.
Eventually, Kaylee's affectionate rubbing of Skye's blush fur wanders too low and she grazes the mounded shape of the girls' sex. Skye gives a little mewl, blushing as she bucks into the touch. "Mmm, careful." She warned, smirking. "He knows if you've been bad or good-"
"Well, then I'm already fucked!" The leopardess just smirked, cupping a hand beneath one of Skye's full breasts with a full squeeze, pulling the girl's chest closer. "Now, come 'er and make the coal in my stocking worth it."
They collide, letting the towels slip off Kaylee's waist as Skye wiggles out of her leggings and they tangled together, fur mushing to fur. Their muzzles lock together, only the sound of the movie playing over their kisses.
"Mmm, wait." Skye broke the kiss, squirming back away from the tempting tangle of limbs. She stooped over, grazing her free nipples against Kaylee's soft fuzzy ankle as she grabbed for the wrapper paper and bows scattered over the floor. She winked once, smirking as she handed them to Kaylee and scooped up copies for herself.
For a second, the leopardess just stared. Confused, she met Skye's sparkling eyes only to see the devious glint of mischief in them, gleaming proudly. "Ooh!" She gasped, laughingly, scooped up scissors and tape, and took to the bathroom.
Skye sent laughter lingering after her before she stripped off her lingering socks and panties in a rushed, stumbling dance before she started to unravel a strip of wrapping paper.
******
"Are you ready?" Kaylee's voice burst out, muffled slightly by the closed bathroom door, "You'd better be because I'm comin' out!" With a rattle, the bathroom door flung open and Kaylee stepped out having exchanged the plain white towels for brilliantly glittered, polka dotted wrapping paper. She'd managed to construct a criss cross over the mound of her sex that sealed above her rump in back with a bow hiding the pile of tape.
However, her nipples, she'd given up and simple taped a bow atop each one. As she came out, twirling around to display her outfit, she caught the flashing red numbers of the alarm clock: "12:23"
"Merry Christmas!" She squealed, flinging her tail around in a mad dance as she looked to see Skye's concoction of strips of paper in a fringy band around her full breasts, leaving them straining against the bonds.
"And look," Skye squealed. "I got just want I asked Santa for!" They were both laughing, too deliriously exhausted and happy in mixed proportions to think too hard about how ridiculous they looked or how the tape would sting when they tried to free themselves. Instead, they just fell together with a fierce crinkle and tried to unwrap their gifts.
******
"Skye, you ready?" Kaylee laughed, gently tugging at the girl's tail as she fingers tickled along the girl's thigh. Skye couldn't help but giggle in anticipation, but she gave a firm nod.
"Okay, here we go-" Kaylee leaned up, covering Skye's mouth with her own as she gave a tug at the single piece of tape caught in Skye's fluffy butt keeping her sex hidden behind wrapping paper.
"Aweh!" Skye squeaked as it tugged free but the pain was quickly countered with the sudden warmth of Kaylee's soft finger slipping inside of her, finally. She mewled into the other girl's muzzle, moaning into the kiss as she clamped down on the single digit.
"God yes! I did not realize how horny I was!" Skye mewled out, growling playfully as her own fingers pushed down to Kaylee's hips, searching for the mounded cup of her sex. Her fingers drew a track through the thick fur of the leopardess stomach until she nudged into the warm bump of her clit.
"Fuck... yes," Kaylee moaned in agreement as her hips bucked against Skye's fingers. Her own digit curled, working to find the sensitive patch of the red panda's g-spot. Competitively, they both curled and worked their fingers deeper, pumping them harder and rubbing up to each spot that made the opposite girl squeal louder. "Are you trying to race me?" Kaylee hissed, a low growl escaping her throat as she pushed Skye into the pile of blankets.
Her teeth found Skye's soft ear, nipping up the length of the flickering triangle of the girl's thick tail thrashed madly into the bed. "Mmmmph... that's cheating-" Skye whined, trying to get her lips to Kaylee's own sensitive patch on the back edge of her neck, but the leopardess held her down, forcing her to writhe with an impending orgasm as Kaylee's three fingers pumped into her unwaveringly and her thumb rubbed in circlings, steady, merciless circles on Skye's pulsing, beating clit.
"It's not cheating, I just know what you like..." Kaylee shot back, her voice gruff and throaty as she lost herself to the lure of sex- pure, tangled, and sloppy sex. Her fingers curled harder, forcing Skye's back to arch with a mewling cry as she tried to push herself down onto Kaylee's fingers harder.
"I think that's cheating!" Skye squeaked out, giggling despite herself as her sex squeezed tighter and tighter around Kaylee's pumping fingers. Her hips were squirming, bucking up to the thumb rubbing on her clit every few seconds as her toes curled down and feet arched to stab into the bed sheet. Kaylee just smirked, dragging her muzzle down the dip of Skye's cleavage before she took a rosy nipple into her mouth with a warm, tugging suckle.
"Oooh...." Skye mewled out a happy sigh, pushing herself up into the suction with a soft cry of delight. Her sex was clamping, squeezing until Kaylee felt like her knuckles might just pop. "I can feel you.... Edging..." Kaylee murmured, whispering around the warm mound of the girl's breast, kneading the opposite one with her free hand. "Cum for me, Skye. Come on, give me my Christmas wish."
Skye bit at her lip, shuddering as she kept riding that edge on the verge of cumming until finally, finally as Kaylee curled a fingertip into her g-spot and just pressed. "K-Kai... Kaylee!" Skye yelped, arching her back up with a whimpering cry as she finally hit that edge, moaning out as she clamped madly on Kaylee fingers, locking them inside her until her muscles had relaxed.
"Heh....Heh...." Skye, panting softly, met Kaylee's eyes as she rode back down from her high. With a twitch of her lips, her smile spread slowly out over her face while she grabbed for her girls hips and rolled so that Kaylee's back pushed into the bed.
"Now, it's your turn." Skye winked, grinning before she left a kiss on Kaylee's snout and squirmed down between her thighs, licking at her lips as she went.
******
"Would you stop that!?" Kaylee laughed, giggling as she looked up into Skye's face swimming over top of hers. Sweat dotted across the girl's fur and drying globs of cum dried into the fur of her muzzle as she smiled down at the leopardess. "What do you meannnnn?" She whined back, smirking as she shifted so her heavy breasts once more skimmed over top of Kaylee's nipple, moving just enough to escape before the feline could catch a nipple in her mouth.
"If you want attention, you have to stop moving around!" Kaylee scolded, trying to fight the urge to laugh as the felt the little rosy nub fleeing through the fuzz of her cheek, tracking a single lick of saliva with it.
"You're the predator, you're supposed to be able to catch me!" Skye teased, gently whisking the boob in a grazing movement back, this time lowering herself enough that Kaylee could feel the slight heft of the orb on her muzzle. Kaylee growled playfully, rolling the sound in the back of her throat as she nipped at the soft fluff and skin of the girl's breast. "You're begging for trouble," She warned, smirking up at Skye's laughing face, but it was hard to stay serious when seconds later a soft boob rolled across her face again.
"Oh no, what could ever happen to me?" Skye mimed, giggling as she let Kaylee get a single lick before she stole the nipple out of reach again, gleefully laughing. Kaylee grabbed at her hips, gently digging her nails down into all the fluff: "That's it! You asked for it!"
With a firm lift and a roll, Kaylee pushed Skye back onto the bed, bending down over each of her full breasts with her lips spreading to catch them, this time with no escape.
"I wonder if I can make you cum... with these alone?" Kaylee asked, grinning evilly, Skye told her she did not want to find out.
******
"I think.... I have cum enough for the rest of my life," Skye mumbled, her voice nearly trailing off. Her legs spread out on the bed, exhausted and limp in a frame around the speckled splotches of wetness left on the sheets. As she turned to look at Skye, she pulled a discarded, half-eaten candy cane into her mouth with a happy sigh at the zing of the sugar in her mouth.
Kaylee giggled once, just a burst of noise as she stretched partway off the bed to start the microwave. The sound hummed through the room, the only noise in the otherwise silent dead of night, as she slumped into Skye's sweaty shoulder. "Isn't that what Christmas is for?" Her tongue flicked out, stealing a zip of sugar from the side of the red and white striped stick.
The red panda giggled right back, softly mumbling as she rolled to face the other girl. Her nose nuzzled once up Kaylee's neck before she stole a kiss from the corner of her mouth and scooted closer to her.
Their breasts mashed together, Skye's flattening into mushed pancakes against Kaylee's firmer tits. With a sudden burst up of her eyebrows, Skye reached for Kaylee's phone- discarded beside the bed. The camera app flicked up onto the screen before she framed their laughing faces into the frame, the bottom edge filled with a hint of their mashed breasts, just enough to assume the activities of their night. "Send that to your fucking parents for their Christmas gift!"
Kaylee just laughed, flicking the send button without a second thought, those two were no longer even in her head. Her eyes were locked onto her new Christmas family, the red panda draped over the bed beside her in a mess of sweat and late-night exhaustion. She tossed the phone away to the side and pulled Skye close instead, mashing their lips together in a long, lingering kiss.
They grabbed the hot water from the microwave, spilled in rich chocolatey cocoa packets and blended them into cheap, child-like instant hot chocolate. The sweet, sugary smell danced into the air, contrasting the earth scent of sex in the air. The steam refreshed their tired, messy faces as they leaned into each other and the pillows and turned their eyes back to the television finally, realizing it'd been playing through the entire night.
"Hey, It's a Wonderful Life again!" Kaylee pointed out, chuckling.
Skye grinned, shifting her head to lean into the wash fluff of the leopardess chest, "Mmm, it is a wonderful life, isn't it?"
"It is, it really is~"
