Secrets Ch. 9
#9 of Secrets
Chapter 9
I drop my sword and pack on the foot of the bed as soon as I enter my room. Letting out a slow sigh as the door closes behind me, my eyes instantly fall on the window letting in the bright morning sun. With a slight growl I move quickly to the window and pull shut the heavy red curtains on either side of it, dimming the light considerably and casting the room into a softer crimson glow.
With the harsh sunlight cut down considerably, I sit down on the bed and stretch my neck, getting more than a few satisfying pops. After a moment of just sitting I let out a slight grumble, "Well I may as well see about unpacking if I am going to be staying a while."
The simple chore doesn't take very long. The total of my worldly possessions includes only a few items, a small set of utensils for cooking and eating, three sets of clothes, a small sack of gold and silver coins, a bed roll, and a small black wooden box. The box containing my spices, having been left in the kitchen, would have filled the remaining space of my pack.
After setting the clothes and bed roll in the top drawer of the dresser I place the other items on top of it. The only exception being the small box. For several moments I just stare down at the small object laying on my open palm. Nestled in my paw it looks tiny, not much larger than a chicken egg, only square.
With my free paw I trace a single claw over the worn but still legible demonic runes traced along its surface. Having read these words thousands of times I know what they say by heart. But knowing what it says and what it means are two different things.
A knock on the door snaps my attention back to the present. Looking up I call out, "Come in."
The door opens and Chase steps in carrying a plate of food with him, "I noticed you didn't eat earlier, so I thought I would bring you something."
I nod towards the dresser, "Thanks, just set it there I'll eat in a bit."
He sets the food down then moves the chair so that he is sitting across from me. For a time I can feel him watching me as I in turn go back to fiddling with the box. After the silence grows thick he asks, "What's that?"
I look up at him and see him nodding towards the box in my paw. Letting a small humorless smirk play across my lips I reply, "It is a very old riddle."
Chase tilts his head to the side with a confused expression on his face, "How so?"
Choosing my words carefully I answer him, "My grandfather gave me this when I was very young. He said that when I manage to open it that I will be ready for what is contained inside."
His expression grows even more confused, "I don't understand. Does it have something inside it then?"
I shrug, "Don't know, there is no way to open that I have figured out. The only thing on it is the runes, and those have been no help."
He leans forward to get a closer look asking, "So those scratches are words?"
I nod, "Yes, they are demonic runes. A very old, very powerful language, if you know how to read and speak it."
Chase looks up at me slightly alarmed, "It's not evil is it?"
I can't help but roll my eyes upwards which causes him to shiver slightly, "Words are not good or evil. Simply a means of expression and description. By themselves they have no power or ability to do anything. That falls to the person saying them."
He looks at me with raised eyebrows before asking, "So what does it say then?"
As I trace the runes a final time I answer, "The rough translation would be something like, 'Held within is the key to wisdoms treasure.'"
Chase is silent for a moment before saying, "What is wisdoms treasure?"
Taking a deep breath I say, "That has been debated for longer than I have been around. To my knowledge no one can come up with a single answer. But knowing my grandfather it will be something both fantastic and potentially very dangerous in the wrong hands."
He looks up at me with a wary eye before I continue, "I doubt very much it will be a threat to anyone here. Besides, it has been sealed in that block of wood for many years and has never been anything more than a glorified paper weight. If it hasn't opened in all that time I doubt it will be doing anything now."
Tossing the box onto the dresser with the rest of my possessions I grumble, "Not all that sure why I keep hold of it to be honest. Just never been able to make myself get rid of it."
Chase looks at the box for a moment then says, "I would imagine that you keep it because it is a link to your family. Many people would give a great deal for such a link, even if it was just a block of wood."
I study Chase for a moment after he finishes speaking then let out a small snort, "Maybe people who have a normal family. The only family that talks to me are the ones who want to kill me. Frankly I could do without."
Chase looks back at me, "Even a family who doesn't talk to you is better than no family at all. You at least know where you come from. There are those of us who don't even know that."
I raise an eyebrow at his choice of words. For a moment it seems like he is going to expand on his statement but changes his mind at the last moment. Instead he says, "But that's beside the point. I came here to talk about last night."
I feel a sudden rush of irritation at the abrupt change of topic to such a sensitive subject. But I quickly drive the emotion back, I did after all agree to have this talk with him. With a sigh I close my eyes for a moment before asking, "What about it?"
He shuffles a bit in his seat as he says, "Well I would like to know why you ran away like that?"
Slowly I open my eyes to look at him and consider my words before making my reply, "Perhaps the initial reason I ran would be.... panic."
Chase tilts his head slightly, "Why did it make you panic?"
I look down at my claws for a moment tracing the shape of each one with my eyes as I try and explain, "I had begun to let my guard down with you. More so than I have done with anyone since... well more than I have in a very long time. When I realized what was happening the possible consequences rose in my mind with so much force and urgency that the easiest way for me to avoid the danger was to run. To give myself time to think and to calm down."
He thinks for a moment on my words before asking, "What danger could there have been from a kiss? It's no secret now that I find you attractive. My whole pack knows about my preferences and it has never been an issue before. So how could that be such a danger?"
I feel my face tighten as a slight scowl forms on my muzzle, "How could it be a danger? You saw what happened to me when you found me in the forest. I was nearly killed. Agerex wants me dead at all costs, he doesn't let things or people get in his way. He wouldn't hesitate for a moment to burn this whole forest to ash if he thought it would kill me."
Chase's eyes go wider at my words, "Surely he isn't that obsessed with killing you? To wipe out an entire forest like that?"
I lock my eyes with him and answer in slightly aggravated tone, "The only reason he hasn't yet is because he knows it wouldn't work. He has slaughtered an entire village before trying to find me. A forest would mean nothing to him. That and he has already tried once to burn me out of a forest."
He swallows for a moment, "So is that why you are so adamant about leaving here? You don't want to be the reason we get hurt?"
I give a nod that is part shrug.
He snorts, "Well just because he has hurt others doesn't mean he would be able to hurt us. We did manage to send him running last time. I don't see why we wouldn't be able to do it again when we are more prepared for him."
I look at him dumbfounded. Either Chase and his pack have a secret strength I have yet to see or they are incredibly overconfident in themselves. Whichever the reason is I have to set him straight, "Chase, you did not drive him off. You just caught him unaware and off guard. If he finds this place he will not hesitate to use his full strength against you and he has access to a lot more power than you can imagine."
With a skeptical look in his eyes he replies, "I may not know him like you do Eb, but I don't see how anyone who runs around in snow storms looking for a fight could be all that smart."
Letting out a humorless snort I say, "He didn't care about the snow. In fact that would have done nothing but make his job easier. He doesn't hunt like you and I would. His vision and sense of smell are not how he hunts. He has a wider range of demonic abilities to rely on that are not hindered by small nuisances like weather. No he will find me again, sooner or later, and for your sake I hope he never finds out I was here."
Silence stretches out between us before Chase says, "Well whatever happens we will face it. We have had our share of trouble before and come through it fine. I doubt this will be any different."
I look at his face and see a slight trace of smug confidence there. It takes a fair amount of self control for me not to continue the argument, but I realize it would be a futile effort at this time. For some reason beyond my understanding at the moment Chase and his pack have decided to welcome me into their home, help me heal, and even seem determined to convince me to stay.
With a sigh I give up trying to argue the point and instead reach for the plate of food Chase brought me and begin to eat. After a few moments I see a grin spread on his face as he says, "So I take your silence to mean that you're not going to try and stop us helping you?"
I give him a short glare replying, "No, I simply don't see a reason in continuing trying to talk you out of it at this time. I still don't intend to let you get caught up in my fight needlessly."
He shrugs, "Well I guess we will all just have to work harder to change your mind."
Before I can react he leans forward and places a gentle kiss on my lips. For a fraction of a moment I consider briefly trying to return the kiss but instead pull back shaking my head, "Chase.... no."
He pulls back with a slight look of disappoint on his face, but in his eyes I can see a twinkle of mischief as he says, "Oh I know what you said Eb. But I'm not going to let that stop me trying. Only thing that is stopping it is you, and I know that you want it at least as much as I do."
With that he gets up to leave. As he is stepping out of the room he turns back to me with a grin and says, "Oh by the way, the bathroom is two doors down to your left in case you wanted a shower to clean up."
He then closes the door behind him leaving me alone in the room with nothing but my food and his scent. Breathing deeply I realize that the smell he left behind is laced ever so slightly with another scent which sends a jolt of electricity through my body causing my pants to get slightly tighter in the front.
Chase chose to leave just as his arousal would have started to become noticeable. He made the comment about the bathroom on purpose it would seem. Living here is going to be a pain it seems. Reaching down I try and adjust my pants so that they fit a bit more comfortably but the moving fabric only serves to further stimulate my... problem.
With a growl I grab a change of clothes and head for the door mumbling, "If he thinks he will change my mind that easily he doesn't know how stubborn a demon can be."
Glancing to see that no one is around I head in the direction Chase indicated for the bathroom. Once inside I make sure to lock the door behind me before turning on the water to the shower letting it warm up. While waiting I take a curious look around the room.
It's not too bad, large enough to accommodate the needs of a several people sharing it. The shower is more than large enough for me to fit in. It would seem it was made with large werewolves in mind. The counter has two sinks with a stack of towels between them. The whole wall behind the sinks is a single large mirror with lights above it.
A single door opposite the entrance proves to be a linen closet with more towels. Aside from the remaining common fixtures found in all bathrooms there is a small shelf in the corner of the room with a single small wolf figurine perched atop it.
Before I can examine it further though a voice laced with humor echoes from behind me, "Why don't you just give in already and sleep with him. That's probably all he wants anyway."
I turn ready to give a sharp retort to whoever has barged in on me only to see no one there. For a split second I am confused as to where the voice is coming from then I catch sight of the mirror. Instead of my reflection staring back at me my demonic visage is reflected back at me with a dark humor twinkling in his eyes.
Letting a groaning sigh I step closer to the counter and confront my alter ego. Glaring at my inner demon I reply, "Because any kind of relationship will be used against me by Agerex."
With a dismissive gesture the reflection says, "Oh please, he won't know if you had sex with a random wolf or not. It's not like he is your fated mate that you will spend the rest of your life with or anything. A tussle or two in the sheets won't kill you."
Growling at the mirror I reply, "You know damn well that it could do just that. Remember what happened the last time Agerex found someone that I had any kind of relationship with? Six years later they still hadn't found the rest of him. And all he did was buy me a drink."
For a moment the demon looks at me and then relents a little, "Ok so maybe Agerex is a bit...."
"...Psychotic?" I offer
He nods grudgingly, "Well when you put it that way getting laid would be a bit bad for the other wolf involved. But it's not like he won't be coming here sooner or later anyway. The damage has been done. Why not enjoy something while you can?"
I look at the mirror with a mix of disgust and hatred, "How can you be so heartless and self centered to not even care that my being here would kill this pack. That it may already have done so?"
With a shrug he says, "I'm a demon. It's how we operate for the most part. And seeing as how you keep me locked up and buried inside you so much I would think most people would understand my wanting to be a bit selfish and get laid from time to time."
Snorting I wave a paw dismissively, "If all you really cared about was getting laid I wouldn't keep you locked up so much and you know it. Every time you have gotten loose I was left with the consequences and they are never pretty. That is why I don't let you out."
He glares back at me his face twisting into a snarl that emphasizes his demonic features as his eyes begin to glow a dark blood red, "You just fear my power. I will be free one day and you know it. I have broken free from your cage before and I will do it again. That is why I go on a rampage each time I do. To show you what real power is and to try and get you to just accept what you really are."
I glare back at the mirror, "I will never surrender to you. You may have strength but you don't have compassion or care about anyone or anything. If I could be rid of you I would be in an instant."
He throws his head back and laughs but before he can say anything else I wipe a paw across the mirror smearing the condensation that has gathered from the hot humid air escaping the shower. As I do the reflection ripples and returns to a simple normal reflection of myself.
With a sigh I lower my gaze to the sink beneath me as I rest my paws on either side of it and give into some of my fatigue. For a moment I just stand there wondering if perhaps the demon side of me might be right but then shake the thought away and proceed to undress for the shower.
Piling my clothes on the counter I return my gaze once more to my reflection and study my slightly distorted image through the wet mirror. As my gaze travels over my fairly large, toned body it lands on the sights of the recent wounds I have suffered. Most have healed leaving behind scars that will fade slightly in time. The one on my arm is still swollen and inflamed from healing but that to will fade in time.
With a sigh I look back into my own eyes and mutter slightly, "Everything I do is secrets and lies.... even this."
With an angry swipe I once again wipe through the moisture on the glass blurring the reflection even more before I turn and get into the shower.
As the near scalding water soaks into my fur the tension held in my muscles seems to dissolve away. I close my eyes as the water flows over my head washing away all the dirt and sweat on my body as well as the turmoil in my mind and heart. It has been to long since I was last able to enjoy the simple pleasure of a hot bath.
After relaxing under the hot spray for a few minutes I set to work cleaning the worst out of my fur keeping the spray on my back. Granted there is not a whole lot to wash out. Considering I had been unconscious for several days it's no surprise that Chase and perhaps another member of his pack had seen to helping get my fur cleaned for me. Thinking about that makes me realize just how little privacy I had for those days without even knowing it.
The slight burning embarrassment that flushes my face at the thought is soon replaced with another thought that causes a different kind of flush to make itself known. The idea of having had Chase's paws running over my body sends a shiver down my spine as other thoughts begin to form. It may be impossible for me to have a real relationship with him, but that doesn't mean a wolf cant dream.
I close my eyes for a moment and soon the water flowing through my fur changes to that of a light touch. Sharp yet gentle claws parting the hairs as they trace their way down my chest. Moving across my shoulders and down my arms sending chills back up the way they came.
Now the claws are back at my neck slowly working their way down my back outlining my spine causing me to let out a slight moan of pleasure at the touch. When they reach my hips the touches separate and flow down both legs causing the hairs not matted down with water to stand on end as I give into the thoughts and feelings and let them flow over me with the same intense heat as the shower.
Without opening my eyes I know the thoughts have done more than enough to get me riled up. I can feel my sheath swelling beyond its ability to hold as my cock slides free to stand proudly at attention against my stomach pulsing in time with my heart that is now beginning to race faster and faster.
Turning slightly I lean my back against the wall of the shower so the water is hitting me from the side sending small rivers cascading down my front. In my mind however it is not water flowing down my chest but Chase's paws tracing lines over and over again as he explores every inch of my body.
The instant the vision my mind has created solidifies my already hard cock goes completely rigid and starts to leak a fair amount of pre. I wrap my right paw around my shaft and begin to slowly move up and down tracing the firm ridges along the top, I owe those to my demon heritage, all the way down to my rapidly swelling knot that comes from the werewolf side of my family. My left paw reaches lower and cups my balls and begins to massage them softly tugging now and again adding more pulses of pleasure.
Even though my paws are performing a duty they have done countless times before that's not what I am feeling or seeing. This time I am not the source of my own pleasure, instead I see Chase running his tongue up and down my cock as he sucks on the tip swallowing every drop of pre that I can produce.
I begin to pant from heat that is not caused by the shower as a familiar pressure begins to grow within my balls as they try and pull closer to my body. Wanting to make this last as long as it can I try and resist. Each pump of my paw is transformed into Chase sucking in more of my cock deeper into his maw. Before long the urge reaches a point that I can no longer deny.
As my right paw pumps faster and faster along my pulsing shaft my left paw grips tight behind my knot. In my mind I see Chase swallowing my entire length as my knot makes his cheeks swell while his throat pulses and contracts around my cock.
Suppressing a howl I let loose the tidal wave I have been holding back as my orgasm takes hold sending several long ropes of seed to splash against the curtain and drip down to the floor of the shower. For several moments I just stand there panting as my cock continues to pulse and shoot ever diminishing splashes of cum.
Leaning against the wall to keep from falling over I just pant as the hot water flows over and around me washing away the last remaining evidence of my release. As I stand there enjoying the afterglow my cock begins to shrink back down and recede back into its sheath.
As my heart settles down and I fall from my temporary high reality sinks in and I let out a sigh as I finish washing off. With a slight groan I turn off the water and stand there letting the last bits of moisture drip from my fur lamenting the lack of possibility that my fantasy could be real.
After drying off and getting dressed again I'm heading out of the bathroom when a voice says behind me, "The only one stopping it is you. You know it could be real very easily."
I turn back with a growl just in time to see my demonic reflection fade from the mirror with a grin spread on its muzzle.
