A Queen's Tale: A New Discovery

The second chapter in the Xenomorph Queen's story.
The next day, I begin my search for the animals that were said to live here. I eat the rest of the dead humans that I had dragged to the cave, and then, slowly, I poke my head out into the rising sunlight. I don't see or smell any creatures nearby, and my thermal vision isn't really picking up anything, except for the weakening heat of the humans' burnt building. I have no idea which direction to travel, so I look to my left and see a vast expanse of green plants and trees. Perhaps they are plant-eaters. I should go this way. There is a light breeze blowing at me as I crawl, my armored chest an inch above the ground. The plants stand tall over me, and moisture from them is dripping onto my head.
Two hours later...
At last! I've been crawling for a while, and now I've finally detected a strange scent. It's not human, nor is it the plants, and it's definitely not one of my kin. I follow the smell, hoping that it'll lead me to the beasts. When I traveled before, I didn't stray to far from the foot of the mountains. Now, the scent is taking me further from the mountains and closer to a small body of water.
As I near the water, the strange scent becomes increasingly stronger. The beasts are close. I pull back the last layer of plants that separate me from the pool, and I spot two creatures drinking from the shallow area. They have dark brown bodies with scattered spots of white fur. Small, skinny, tails swish side to side, flinging away tiny parasites and bugs. Their red eyes blink sideways, unaware that I am watching them. _How should I approach them? I could rush at them, but they could be fast and run away. I could sneak behind them, but there might be others nearby that could alarm them of my presence. Oh, I know what I'll do! I'll get as close as I can, undetected, and then I'll spit my corrosive saliva at their face. They might try to run away, but their eyes will be badly burned to see anything. _
I move silently through the plants, slipping closer to the beasts. Their scent fills me. I stop moving when I see one of the creatures stamp the ground and shake its head. Has it seen me? Luckily, it just resumes drinking. I don't try to get any closer, but instead, I slowly raise my face just above the plants. Here it goes. I give a quiet hiss as I begin to form the amount of flesh-eating saliva I need to spit at them. Ok, three...two... WOOSH!! A massive object descends from the sky. It distracts me, and I accidentally launch the acidic saliva into the water near the beasts. They freak out. Not because of me, however, but because the giant object is landing nearby. I rush at the beasts, but they run away before I can grab one.
The object has landed on the ground. I realize it must be a ship that belongs to the humans. Perhaps, they've returned to capture me. Steam comes from the ship as an opening appears on the side. Twelve figures emerge. They're wearing grey suit with yellow translucent screens over their faces. Humans.
