A Queen's Tale: The End and the Beginning
After many months, the Queen has removed all humans from her planet.
Note: To those of you who supported this story, I apologize for taking so long to finish it. I didn't know, back when I started it, how or when I'd finish it. I didn't even know if I would. Now we both have our answer. This is the last chapter, and I hope it makes up for everything.
"Hello! Hello! Does anyone read me?" The female human, still in her grey covering, is trying desperately to communicate with someone off this planet. Sweat drips repeatedly from her forehead and makes pools on the surface of the human-made technology which she is leaning over. Suddenly, I hear a voiceless, scratchy noise fill the room, that the female is in, and the tiny crawlspace that I am watching her from. The noise ceases and the human speaks again.
"Is someone there? Hello!"
"*static* This is Capt. Adam Dike of the USC Kennedy. What is going on here? To whom am I speaking?" The male human's voice is rough and stern.
"Y-yes yes, finally. Um...I-I am Katherine Smith from the USC Research Division. Six months ago, I and 4 scientists, accompanied by seven USC soldiers, responded to a destress call from planet LV-239. Soon after our arrival, two of the soldiers were brutally attacked and killed by an unknown alien life form. We believed it to be one of the xenomorph creatures that was being studied here. One by one, it picked us off." The female is now displaying signs of sadness. "And now...and now, I'm the only one left. It's coming for me" She stops speaking and waits for the male voice to reply.
"I see," the voice isn't as loud or stern as it previously was. Though I know little about humans, I am surprised by this conversation between the female and the male from somewhere else. "I am rerouting my ship to trace your signal. Are there any ships or escape pods that you can use to rendezvous with us outside the planet's atmosphere?"
"N-no, no there aren't any. Um...the research building that we found here was destroyed, as if it had exploded. The ship that we used, that I am in right now, is leaking fuel. Even if I managed to seal it, I...don't think it could go much further than two kilometres." The female now has one of her hands over her mouth. She is making a series of noises that I believe the humans call "crying".
"Enough of this. I am getting hungry," I say in my mind. Moving with extreme caution, I begin pulling myself out of the crawlspace. Before going further, I study my surroundings and spot an opening above me. I silently remove the barrier and climb into a small, dark, metal tunnel. I stop immediately when the female speaks again.
"Ugh what's that smell...oh no." She loudly inhales a lot of air, or should I say "gasps".
"What is it, Katherine? What's wrong?" I hear the male again. The female human is crying a lot more now.
"It's here. Oh god, it's in here..."
"What's there? What's going on? Katherine, talk to me!"
"It's in the vents! That creature is in the vents above me!" Without seeing her, I can tell that the female is looking up at my position.
"Katherine, listen to me. We are on our..."
"It's coming for me! It's coming! I gotta get out of here!" The female is exhaling and inhaling at a very fast pace. I peek my head just barely through one of the openings, but the female's gaze is immediately on me. She screams. I hiss and jump down, realizing that she's no danger to me. I land on all four limbs, as the human runs through a big opening.
"Katherine! Katherine, can you hear me? Katherine, are you there?" The invisible male's voice begins to leave my range of hearing, as I chase after the human. Although I cannot see her, the human's scent is more than enough to follow. I move through room after room, catching tiny glimpses at the female. Finally, I track her down to a small room filled with many of the grey coverings. She is placing something over her head, but when I move closer, she sprays me with a cold, white, gas.
"What is this? It stings! Stings! Foolish human." I hiss threateningly at the female. When she runs out of the bad gas, she presses something, and part of the wall moves to reveal the planet. Drops of water are falling from the sky. They splash on the ground, creating mud and pools of brown, filthy water. I continue to follow her outside. She is running fast, but unfortunately for her, I am faster. She is looking behind her, back at me, the whole time. Soon enough, she trips and falls into a large, mud-filled hole. The sides are too slippery for her to escape, yet she still tries. I remain outside of the hole, laughing at her in my hissing voice.
"Weak human, you are my prey." I enjoy watching her struggle for a little longer, but soon my hunger takes over. I crawl down into the hole, mud staining my black body.
"No, no! Stay away! Stay away!" The female is speaking to me, and from what I understand, she is begging for me to let her live. She does not understand that I need the energy from her to produce eggs. The eggs will develop, latch onto the other creatures on this planet, and from them will come my children. All because this human gave her life to me. The female presses herself against the far end of the hole and waits for me to make a move. For some reason she isn't crying. It is as if she tries to study me, as I her. I stop in the middle of the hole and look at her. The water still falls on and around me, but I do not hear it. I do not hear anything. I focus on the human, while everything around me is washed away into the darkest parts of my mind.
Silence...silence...silence
And then, in one, swift movement, I lunge at the female. She lets out one final scream before my inner mouth pierces her skull. *Crack* Her frail bones shatter. Her blood drips steadily from my jaws. She is dead.
I crawl out of the pit. I am victorious. The other humans may come, but it will be too late. They do not know this land like I do. They are not as fast, strong, or agile as I am. They will come to hunt me down, but in the end, they will be the hunted.
The End
