Chapter five- Deal with the Divine
It did not take long for talk of the statue to take over the town. Long into the day the priests of the church inspected the statue ignoring the one watching nearby. The image of a fully grown Luna was a solid one. More effective than David imagined. These simpleton humans needed to learn early who was truly in charge of this realm. David had been busy feasting on anything of substantial value for a demon. Thou the taste of Luna could not be cleared from his thoughts even he knew he could not regularly feast on a dragon. Especially on his dragon. In fact he cursed the fact she fed him. He did not want such life force to enter him as it had a chance to affect her growth. But now it is that he did not want to harm his friend. It was well past noon the next day when one of the true divine came. The stone was as David thought and for a grander purpose of theirs. However the shroud David put over himself did not fool the angel. By the time any but the angel was about to comment to his subordinate David has finished his planning. “ Leave us my charge. Comes a demon who has cast such a crime on us."
David revealed his face from under the cloak and wickedly smiled as he revealed his newly made weapon. In turn the angel drew her sword. “ Settle yourself divine one. I come for peace. As the truce between the Supreme ones had made long ago. You are in my realm and I am David. Introduce yourself."
The comment was an order and not a request. She kept the blade bare and ready to defend herself if called to. “ I am Lousphy, demon. Tell me why you crafted something from what it is not destined to be?"
David did not move from the near unemotional request. Thou he could tell the angel was not pleased. “ I come here now at the time I am weakest during the day. When it is your time to shine. Even in the darkest of realms. This land is mine and for over two decades I have rested restoring my strength. Look at the weapon I hold closely Lousphy. See what only us two can see. It is made to kill both of our kinds. However only the kind of whom holds it as well."
Lousphy looked more closely at the blade. “ You dare defile."
David unexpectedly tossed the sword at the angel before she could finish and she caught it with her free hand. The angel was now showing very much more surprise on her face. “ This realm is mine. The two were found together. In the same grave. You should know even more than I of fates binds. I could not separate them if desired and surely if I did they will be destined to come together again in whatever form they are in. I recognize this and with this in mind I made the sword as I did. The sword I give to you and I know I could ask any price I wish and you will not refuse. Unless ordered to by an even higher power. I will not make any demand but a peace between us much further than any agreement done before. For twenty years Luna, a dragon, has governed in my stead. In the absence of me she is to govern then. She is young but one day be like this statue. That is why it was chosen for my reappearance. I have given leave that I will not, unless under need of survival, I will not feed on any unwillingly sentient follower or member of the divine or your order. As well as this I wave the term of heros."
The angel raised her eyebrow. “ On the condition I can not be challenged by one unless I allow it."
Lousphy smiled but quickly erased it from her face. “ What do you want in return?"
David turned his back. “ Nothing. Nothing but for you to do as you would for any place with followers of the divine in such a place I am allowing. Except the matters of underworlds will be dealt by me, if able. That and a request. Look into my eyes. You will see something that will surprise you."
The Angel looked into David's eyes. Even thou she did not have the key to his soul she had his permission to look at it and she took a step back. “ I reveal and give what I have on the trust of the divine and you. I do not wish trouble. I know my chances. The quieter I am the better."
Lousphy sheathed her sword and looked at the one on her off hand. The blade had turned black to white at her touch. Except the hilt which done the opposite. She moved to touch the blade but the demonic presence in it was deep in it made her think twice on the choice. She quickly understood the nature of the sword. “ Very interesting demon. This weapon you give me is a very powerful one indeed. I feel the presence of another divine one and I am told you respected him much more than any demon is expected to. We do not take charity lightly demon. You will be repaid for this one day."
David put the cloak back over his head. It was his nature to not like the sun. “ Yes, understand angel I gave freely with only council. I rule this realm and for years to come I will be quiet. At most the humans here and of the other creatures of soul holding of my minion and of divine will rarely be seen by me unless on the grounds I call my home. The portal stone I claim mine for use and tax. In fairness only of goods and of special services. The mine and wood is mine and I also will tax from the goods and game taken from them. The river I give free as long as there is wood to cut and ore to mine. I shall tax for a percent of my choosing and of that a part will be given to the divine to ensure peace. To ensure peace one of the divine may choose a mayor for the town to deal with me. In matters of tax or need otherwise. With what I give leave to I now tell you what I keep of what is mine. Later a map of the realm will be delivered here by Luna. Marked on this map are locations I will use to have my minions and others I consider of my standing army. As you know divine demons war with each other often. My minions and forces will be allowed, in a limited capacity later to be discussed, be allowed to enter this town and have dealings with it."
David noticed the angel grip the sword in her off hand tighter. David knew a mix of such demonish things he could set on the town would send fear to the most stout mortal of the divine. David stopped and did not need to ever catch his breath but acted slightly for such as she relaxed her grip once more. She could tell David did this deliberately. “ Among the locations will be a gathering point such things would rather prefer but their access to the portal stone will be more distant. As such the town will most likely be done threw with my own personal dealings as it will be the face of my realm. Like this statue others of my choosing will be made. However to keep peace one statue may be within the church and one more lesser statue may be in front of the entrance passage behind you now. On the map will mark other areas members of the flocks of the divine may not enter unless permitted."
David paused again. This time he stopped because he felt himself much weaker than he wished. The second was a topic that he wished done very delicately. “ Perhaps divine we may part now. There is much you need to explain to your superiors and I have become aware I am more vulnerable that I wish in the case of another demon wishes to take my realm from me. As I just gave you my one great weapon and I hold little advantage now. Keep that in mind if you wish further dealings."
