Dragons Of War
This was a story I quickly through together for a topic on a forum, about what could happen if dragons came to earth... it's nothing special just a bit of action for you.. ;-)
It dident even have a name, so i just made one up now. :-P
Few notes:
This is a clean story, there is a bad word or two but I was going for realism.
This is just a story, I don't want to upset anyone, I am not saying all dragons are like how I portray them to be in this story.
Dragons of war
Late one night I was sitting there eating my dinner, that I got from the very average noodle shop on the corner of my street. I just couldn't be bothered cooking, I was too tired.
As I shovelled the soggy mess in to my mouth, I looked through the kitchen window and noticed a dark red glow in the horizon. This puzzled me because the sun sets in the opposite direction, and I have never seen the sky a colour like that before. I walked out on to the Veranda for a better look.
As I stared into the glow I noticed that it was getting brighter, It was much brighter than the haze of the city lights now, "This is awesome" I said to myself, and I hoped up onto the rail of the Veranda so I had a better view, as I did this the noodle box I had precariously placed on the rail fell down into the garden, "Crap! Arr it probably wasn't any good for me any way" I said as I brushed some of the sauce from my leg from where the box it hit me on the way down.
I looked back toward the glow and to my astonishment I noticed five bright reddish yellow beams of light moving across the city, approaching at a tremendous speed.
As I stared at the approaching phenomenon, I heard a faint rumble from the blood red horizon.
This was now starting to scare me a bit, all the dogs in the neighbourhood were barking like crazy because of the low rumble.
I hopped off the rail and kept a close eye on the approaching beams that was starting to resemble beams of fire coming from the sky.
I looked at the base of the beams and saw large plumes of flame sweeping across the city.
I froze in fright, all I could do was stand watching on in fear.
The rumble as they approached was getting very loud now my whole house was shaking.
My neighbours had now come out for a look at what was going on, after about 30 seconds they ran back inside in fear yelling at their children to not look. Another minute passed and the beams of fire disappeared behind the crest of the hill in front of me, they were to close for comfort now, I jumped back up onto the rail of the Veranda to try to see where they were, suddenly I saw a wave of fire break over the crest the hill and come barrelling toward me, I panicked and jumped from the Veranda rail to the old screen door, as I hit the door I knocked it from its hinges.
I lay there on the floor in a daze, for a second before I realised that it was still in danger, I quickly recovered I boosted it toward the kitchen counter, as I jumped for refuge, I felt the heat from the flames on my back and the sound of wood cracking and glass shattering, followed by defining roar from outside.
I lay there behind the counter cowering in fear with my hands behind my head as smoke filled the room, and I felt an intense heat radiating from every window, this only lasted about 10 seconds but It felt like an hour to me, the roaring was fading now, so I jumped up and ran through the flames to the door.
I needed to get out of here the whole house was on fire, as jumped through the doorway, the smoke was too thick see where I was going and plummeted down a few meters onto the ground.
The Veranda must have been destroyed.
I groaned in pain is I pulled myself up from the ground, brushing the embers from my bare legs, trust me to be wearing shorts at a time like this.
I staggered out into the back yard, I looked over at my neighbours house, but it was just a smouldering pile rubble, I turned and looked at my other neighbours house that was still standing but was well on its way to being burned to the ground.
I glanced at the city in the distance, the whole city was burning I could hear the desperate screams of other survivors all around my neighbourhood.
Suddenly I heard someone yell my name I looked over to my neighbours backyard and saw my neighbour running toward me, I began to run to his aid because he looked in a bad way, when out of nowhere something dropped from the sky, a huge gust of wind sent me stumbling backward, I saw my neighbour get thrown by something, it was so fast all I could see was a blur, his body flew through the side of his burning house, he hit it with such force it sent pieces of wood from the wall splintering everywhere.
I stood there shocked for a moment, then ran as fast as I could in the opposite direction, jumping over fences and other debris, after running through a few people's backyards, I started to tire, and the smoke was relay starting to get to me, I fell to my knees gasping for air, and I heard a deep growl behind me, I looked over my shoulder to see a pair of bright yellow eyes staring at me through the smoke and flames, and a giant scaly paw emerged from the smoke and swiped at me knocking me backward. "HOLEY CRAP" I yelled, and I made a break for cover beside a burning house, but it was too hot to bare so I ran out into the middle of the main street glancing over my shoulder, looking for the thing that I just encountered, praying that it wasn't chasing me.
THUMP!! I ran straight into something, I fell to the ground In pain, I felt something beginning to crush my leg, there was smoke everywhere and I grabbed at what was crushing my leg, it was as hard as concrete and rather hot, I yelled out in pain and tried to desperately lift it as it began to push harder on my leg, and I felt a hot breeze blow over me and the smoke began to clear.
As the smoke cleared I was able to focus on the object crushing my leg, "Oh Crap... OH CRAP!!!" I yelled as I saw it was I giant dark red claw on a monstrously large scaly foot, my eyes made their way up the leg to the belly, then up the neck, and finally to the face of an enormous dragon looking down upon me.
I closed my eyes and shook my head and looked again but this was no dream, the dragon smiled and spoke!! Dragon: "Hello human." I whimpered to myself, and tried to pull my leg free again.
The dragon snarled, Dragon: "I said hello human!" I looked up at him and passed out in terror. I awoke to hot liquid dripping on my face. I looked up and saw the dragon drooling on me, I struggled to free myself and the dragon quickly noticed I had awoken and stopped drooling.
Dragon :"I'm not going to give up on you that easily, human." Me: "What do you want from me?, why are you hear?" Dragon: "What, no good to see you, not even a hello? Do I scare you or something?" Me: "Please don't kill me, please I beg of you," Dragon: "No am not going to kill you I just want to play, well for a little while anyway, then I will kill you." Me: "Oh Crap, please I will join you, I will kill people.. just let me go." Dragon: "Yeah nice try, do you know how many humans have said that to me so far, We need no help destroying you humans, I just like dragging out your suffering. It was bad enough that we were made to learn your language so we could try to settle this peacefully, but when out general flew down to where your president resides to ask him weather we can live amongst you humans peacefully, but he was fired upon, without even getting a word in, now we are taking this world by force"
Then the dragon leaned down and stared at me and said "Now I'm hungry, say goodbye" the dragon then opened his mouth, as I scratched around with my hand for something to help pull me free, my hand came across a broken brick, I hurled at the dragon hitting him in the eye, he writhed back and roared in pain I pulled myself free when he reared back, I crawled as fast as I could toward a burning car, Dragon: "Oh I am going to have fun destroying you, here catch the fire ball Human!"
I looked on in terror as the dragon took a breath and blasted a wall of flames toward me, I closed my eyes and waited for death, but it didn't come, as I opened one of my eyes, I noticed a giant green wall in front of me.
Dragon: "Oh. General, why didn't you let me kill him?" I saw the green wall that protected me fold back, it turns out that it was a wing from another dragon, the giant green dragon approached the red dragon and growled loudly" Dragon General: "How dear you torture them, there is no honour in this, your orders were simple, fast and painless, now because of what you have done, this one must live, it has suffered because of you."
The giant green dragon grabbed me around the waist and took to the skies, he delivered me to a makeshift concentration camp with other humans that the dragons have selected to keep for further observation so they can learn from us.
This world now belongs to the dragon.
