An Inheritance
I took a long break from any painting or writing, but I finally got to write the fifth episode of the male human on male feral big cat stories.
Probably not my best, but here it is anyways.
My uncle was a hard worker, with no time for love or leisure. He graduated with honours from a top university. Straight out of college he landed a profitable job in finance, as the markets were experiencing great growth. Living on a barebones budget, he reinvested all of his saving in the stock markets. From a few choices, which some called clever and others lucky, he amassed a fortune. At thirty years of age, the man sold every asset and retired. He moved somewhere across the country, purchased all the land surrounding a small lake, and built a luxurious house, in which lived alone. No one heard from him again.
That's all my mother would tell me about her brother. I never met him; he never invited us; he never came to visit; he never spoke to us. The whole family agreed that he had gone mad from overworking and was now a hermit. As time passed he was mostly forgotten.
The synthetic glow of the monitor fought the warm rays of the Sun thrown through the window. Overmatched, I could barely make out the text on the screen.
All morning I had periodically eyed the bright splash of light crawling against the wall. I had to race against it to finish my task, before it could rudely interrupt me. Admittedly I had lost the competition, but I had too much pride to get up and close the blinds; after all I was so close to my goal.
I double-checked the list of arcane instructions on the screen, then re-ran them against the test data. Confident of their correctness, I deployed the program to a cluster of faraway machines. Like an army of disciplined monks, they began dissecting a veritable mountain of digital records, cleaning and indexing the contents into a series of strictly organized tomes.
My job was done for the day, but I kept my eyes glued to the terminal a little longer, searching for any signs of trouble. The glare on the screen finally got the better of me, and I sprung up to shut the blinds. The Sun beaming through my window creates a kind of crude sundial; and I had just silenced the alarm that is the shine on my screen. No need to check the time on my display to know it was just about one o'clock. With a last passing gaze at the monitor, I made my way to the door.
Grabbing the handle, I froze in place. I hadn't really thought about what could be waiting on the other side.
Four years ago my former employer enacted a new policy: all core branches of the business would move to a central campus. It was relocate or quit. Everybody knew this was a downsize: most employees couldn't move to the other coast on a whim. But I had nothing to hold me back; I lived a alone in a rented apartment. In hopes of a promotion during the inevitable restructuring, I packed everything and drove for a few days to the other side of the country.
I didn't get anything for my loyalty to the company. In fact not much changed in my life, except that I was now lonelier than before.
Only a week later I received a letter with a handwritten address. Surely a first for me, all I ever got were bills and unsolicited advertisements. On a single sheet of copy paper was a casual invitation from a man claiming to be my uncle. I was welcome to spend a day or two at his place, anytime I wanted. I took the message with some wariness. How did he even know I was here? Perhaps my mother had told him, but from my knowledge they hadn't spoken in a long time. I verified the return address on Google Maps, and found what looked like a house by a lake, surrounded by trees.
It took a few days for my distrust to wear off. Motivated by my desire to make some local acquaintances, I left early on a Saturday.
I gingerly opened the door, peeking my head outside to check the hallway. Tev had been more active recently, and was once again strolling around the upper floor. I never feared him before, but things were quite different now. After everything that had happened, I think it was reasonable being so cautious.
I quietly made my way downstairs to the kitchen. The house still felt empty, as it had in the last few months. With discretion, I microwaved some leftovers and headed back to the stairs with the scalding container in my hands. Before I could climb a couple steps, I noticed half a face at the top of the well. A green eye peeked around the corner, then disappeared quickly as our gazes met.
At least that hadn't changed: Tev loves to pretend no one can see him sneak around the house, until you look at him that is.
The corridor on the upper floor was still empty. After scanning the multiple doorways, I returned to my office. Luckily it too was vacant, and I shut the door behind me. Not that it mattered. Tev knows how to open them. In fact the residence only features un-lockable doors with long handles, with the exception of the front entrance. There's no way to lock him out.
A thin middle-aged man answered the door. After stating my mother's name and confirming that I was her son, he invited me in with a smile. For a supposed-millionaire, the property was rather unremarkable. It was quite spacious, with large and open living spaces, but light on ornamentation.
I was led to the other side of the house, and offered a seat at a table adjacent to a large window. The rays of the sun cast shadows of swaying branches on its surface. Through the pruned forest I could see the lake. Light shimmered as the breeze split its surface into a multitude of facets.
My host sat across from me, silently staring at his hands for a few seconds. The ensuing conversation went on for a couple of hours.
As I ate, I watched the processes tear through the mounds of data at an insane pace. Despite the speed, there was so much, it would surely take all weekend.
I dragged the terminal window aside to make room for some documentation, then began the tedious process of deciphering and rewriting it into a more comprehensive report. Of course the higher-ups never gave me complete specifications, blocking me from finishing my work. I had to send off a few emails asking for clarifications. It was by then four o'clock, and since there was no way I would get any replies this late on a Friday, I considered my day officially over.
I headed to the guest bedroom across the hall, grabbed the tablet off the nightstand, and tapped on the white and red YouTube icon.
My weekend would be boring as always.
My uncle was indeed an eccentric man, but not for any reasons that were speculated in our family conversations.
He was not a shut-in: he enjoyed the outdoors; loved to swim; hiked a few miles daily; and appreciated evenings sliding delicately across the water in a kayak.
He had friends: fishing buddies he'd invite at his "private" lake; teammates with whom to spend rainy days playing MMORPGs; and fellow regular patrons at the pub in the nearby town.
Instead the man lived water-side in the woods because of an unusual choice of companion. Not a suitable pet for the city. An animal the majority would decidedly prefer to keep at a distance.
Here it could roam freely around the house or the connecting enclosure. Outside it could explore far without disturbing anyone.
The pair lived merrily, away from the judgment of others.
My uncle recounted with a sorrowful voice. I understood why he had reached out to me.
A shake of the bed broke my attention from the display. As I was laying on my side, someone had hopped-on behind my back. I didn't need to turn my head to know who was disturbing me.
Looking back would imply acknowledging his presence, and I didn't want him here. I wasn't ready to deal with the intruder. Maybe someday he would truly be part of my life, but until then I would keep on pretending that this was a temporary arrangement.
Tev made a soft sound somewhere between a squeak and a meow. He was begging for my attention, but I didn't budge. The puma stepped close enough to scan his nose around my face. I felt short breaths of hot air on my skin. I wasn't doing a very good job of ignoring him, and he knew that.
I gave up and turned over on my back. The sudden motion startled him and we stared at each other intensely. These moments of tension terrified me. Perhaps testing our confidence would bring us closer, but I did not enjoy the thought of our trust falling apart. You do not want a confrontation with a 120lb cat.
Yet these awkward instants were always short lived. Tev casually flopped down next to me, placed a front paw on my chest, and his chin against my shoulder. It had been a long time since he had last snuggled up against me.
He could stay there for now: I couldn't deny the comfort of his warm cream-coloured belly fur. I resumed watching my video.
I returned every Summer weekend to my uncle's retreat. Through the Fall and Winter I visited less frequently, as his mood improved. Although I have to admit that the colder weather lessened my interest.
I later convinced him to follow me to the family Holiday party, as he was no longer bound to his residence. My uncle's return from almost twenty-five years of absence was surely the biggest surprise of the party. Despite an appearance of sentimentality, one could feel the friction in the interactions. Dodging all in-depth questions about his personal life simply frustrated the rest of the family, who might have thought they could for once get to know the man.
My uncle returned home unsure if relations had improved.
It took until Spring for the recluse to adopt a new companion. Perhaps his previous life-style had been the right choice.
I woke up with the tablet flat on my stomach. On it was frozen the last frame of the video, overlaid by a replay button. I had fallen asleep without realizing it.
Tev was still by my side, hugging me closer than I remembered it. I freed my right hand from between our bodies and hesitantly pet his top hind leg. It was all I could reach in this position, but it was enough to make the cougar purr. I reached lower and dared caress the cat's paw; the pads being quite soft as he spent most of his time indoors.
I stayed there for a while, brushed against the feline's soft tan Winter coat. But it was already past six o'clock, and although I was a afraid to disturb him, I had a meal to prepare.
I carefully slipped away from his embrace, and made my way downstairs to the kitchen. I knew he would follow me anyways.
Tev was already a few months old when I met him. As I only spent a few days monthly at my uncle's residence, it took time for the cat to trust me.
For three years I watched Tev grow, and while my life raced on, he seemed to be the only changing thing at the house by the lake. I switched jobs, moved to a new apartment, created and ended relationships; and despite all these motions time barely passed deep in the woods.
Some people would hate it for the uneventfulness, but I could only wish that nothing had happened.
Last Summer my uncle unexpectedly called, wanting me to watch over Tev for a weekend. He had never asked for such a thing, and I could sense urgency in his voice.
Tev usually laid on the couch at the far side of the room while I ate, pretending not to stare at me. Perhaps he thought I couldn't see him from "so far away". But this time the puma chose to sit on the chair across the table. We still played the same game: he gazed through the window anytime I looked at him, but otherwise the cat had his inquisitive eyes on me whenever he believed I wasn't paying attention.
I spent my days being judged by a big cat, who didn't realize we were both stuck here anyways.
There was no denial phase when the diagnosis came through. On the same day my uncle began a plan.
He didn't tell me, but the next Monday he contacted a few old friends still in the business to get me a remote job. A better offer I would surely accept.
And I did. I agreed to the amazing offer from recruiter, passed the interview without issue, and put in my two weeks notice. It was naïve of me not realize something was afoot.
I was asked to "babysit" Tev again over the next few weekends, so that my uncle could make it to the hospital. Although I noticed that his health was deteriorating, he kept on lying that he would rebound.
Weekends became whole weeks, and I was now spending most of my time at the house. "Coincidentally", I could now work while I took care of the puma.
By now Tev had caught onto the unfolding drama, and was spending most of his days staring blankly through the front windows. It was as if the cat's mind left with my uncle. He became inanimate until his car returned to the driveway.
When my uncle became too weak to drive to the hospital for his regular appointments, he recruited my mother's help. She flew over to assist him, knowing that the next few months would be his last. Fortuitously she had retired recently, and could take on the role of full-time caregiver.
It was desolating to watch such a lively man decay so quickly. His last moments home were spent resting on the couch, straining to pet Tev who was lying beside him.
On an early day of Fall, my mother came back alone; a box of my uncle's possessions in her hands.
We grieved; she regretted abandoning her brother until it was too late; I confusedly tried to understand what would happen next; Tev pulled out a shirt from the box to rest his head on.
I put the away the dishes and headed upstairs for a shower. I could hear the muffled footsteps of Tev following closely.
Death brought the family together again. In a way.
I, my mother and her sister waited outside for the notary to arrive. I tried all morning to move Tev to his enclosure, but he would not budge from the couch. A chunk of cow leg was sitting untouched on a platform outside; he had fully ignored any food presented to him.
Standing still and silent, but our clothes dancing in the cold breeze, we impatiently watched the approach of an expensive car. The vehicle parked in the driveway beside us, and out came a man in a black suit. He had a somewhat puzzled look on his face; most likely wondering why we were all waiting outside.
I greeted him and explained that the meeting would take place outdoor, in the garden. Without giving the man any justification, he agreed. Perhaps it was simply out of politeness for the grieving, but he gave me what I believed to be knowing look. He was certainly aware of the contents of the will, and I could deduce that the document mentioned the dreaded item.
We sat around a too-small patio table, and while the notary read out loud my uncle's will, we followed on our own copies. Bewilderment and panic surfaced, as we fought the wind trying to rip the papers from our hands.
A small fraction of the liquid assets went to my aunt. Though it was a large sum for many, here it was just a token amount. My mother was to inherit at least three times as much. It was obviously a reward for her help: most of the old text had been run over with a black marker and replaced with hastily hand-written notes in the margin.
The remaining estate, liquid and invested assets, which represented the vast majority of the fortune, were left to a special fund. The house would be leased freely to one of us, and payments made periodically for the upkeep of the property, the basic needs of the person, and most significantly the care of Tev. If the cat made it past seventeen years of age, all the assets would be transferred to the caregiver, otherwise they would be donated to a long list of varied charities.
There were further conditions for the custody of Tev, mostly ensuring he would keep his current freedom, and had regular vet checks. Everything would be verified by the notary, who was given control of the funds, under strict rules.
The will ended with much legalese about the asset management.
I was to inherit nothing.
Except the puma. A handwritten amendment to the text, again a recent change, gave me priority over claiming the animal.
My mother stared at the papers quietly as her sister argued violently with the notary.
I was standing naked in front of the wide shower stall, waiting for the water stream to heat up. As I leaned in to check the temperature with my hand, I heard a thud behind me. The door was closed, but someone was leaning on it. I approached slowly, then stopped halfway. There wasn't much I could do; I had nothing to block it. Better to just ignore him. I headed for the water instead: he wouldn't follow me behind the curtain.
I was in the middle of lathering myself when another thud came, followed by the racket of giant clumsy paws fumbling with a door handle. I peeked around the curtain, to watch Tev enter the room. It was a bad move: as soon as the cat spotted me, he moved forward, squeaking repetitively and staring with inquisitive eyes. I withdrew and did my best to ignore him, hoping the cougar would quickly loose interest. Instead he followed me, poking his head around the curtain.
The soapsuds dripped of my skin as we gazed at each other, motionless. I attempted to resume my shower, accepting the presence of the voyeur. But I believe that in my attempt to repel Tev with indifference, I just made the puma more desperate. The feline slowly stepped around the curtain, before suddenly pouncing into the water jets. I recoiled in panic; the big cat on the other hand was completely unfazed by what I thought to be his nemesis.
Tev had stolen my spot in the water, soaking his thick fur, and lapping up the droplet falling in front of his nose with quick tongue motions. I now had to deal with a big unmanageable wet cat, but I could mitigate the situation.
The inheritance came with a "care guide" for Tev: periodic tasks, tips, recommendations, and things to avoid. The booklet mentioned monthly washings, advising a thorough but gentle scrubbing with a little soap. I admit the cat was overdue for a bath, but I simply couldn't find the courage to discover a cougar's reaction to water. It was more in the interest of self-preservation, as opposed to neglect. Now I was in position to fulfil my duty.
I knelt in front of Tev, who turned to face me. With some lather on my hand, I gently rubbed his neck. Seeing no ill reaction from the feline, I proceeded with the rest of his upper body. The cougar particularly enjoyed having his face massaged, and continuously pushed back to nuzzle my hands. He had remained mostly still, and so I next reached out for his flanks.
We were soon in an embarrassingly awkward position: the cougar had his head lowered over my crotch. I decided it would be more appropriate to sit by his side, but Tev really wanted me here. As I tried to stand up, the feline suddenly latched both of his paws around my waist, forcing me back down in a light tackle. I felt the tips of the cat's claws poke against my skin. After lowering his front over my thighs to weigh me down, he let go, but kept both forelegs tight around my legs.
The puma's rough licks on my lower abdomen made his intentions clear. I should've tried to get away again, but I was the one responsible for this.
Yesterday I left my office for a bathroom break, and caught Tev in the middle of the hallway with his muzzle between his hind legs. The cougar was lapping generously at his full-mast member. He stared at me unblinkingly, as I watched his dripping tongue graze against the pink member. I stood there for an uncomfortably long time, observing the organ's small pointed shape and slightly bulging head. It wasn't actually long before I snapped out of it and returned to my office, but enough for the image to stay.
This event led to another today, when we where laying together. Believing he was asleep, I reached a hand down under his tail. I fondled his furry balls softly, before moving down to his short sheath. It swelled under my fingers, and reaching lower I felt the smooth skin of his growing erection. Realizing what was happening, I withdrew in disgust from my actions. I was confused as to what had compelled me to do such a thing, but slowly the revulsion faded and my intentions became clearer.
Advances were made, and somehow they culminated to this. I opened my legs a bit and let Tev have his way, as I had done myself. He bathed my growing member with gentle licks while I scrubbed his hind legs, taking my time with his large paws. Despite his rough tongue the cat wasn't painful, he was only using the softer tip. I stroked the entire length of his long tail while the puma tentatively slid his mouth over my glans.
I was instructed to wash him all over, and so after gathering some more soap, I reached my hand under his tail again. There was no shame this time; we both understood our desires. Tev took in more of my erection in his maw while his balls where massaged indulgently. I then moved lower to his own hard penis, and caressed its entire length. The small barbs covering its head were stiff but blunt, giving the otherwise smooth skin a slightly gritty texture.
The raining water might have quickly rinsed away the soap, but I kept on fondling the cougar's erection, feeling it twitch between my digits. The tip leaked a slippery fluid faster than it could be washed away.
Tev reciprocated by sucking my member more eagerly. He swirled the smooth underside of his tongue around it while slowly bobbing his head and purring. My orgasm was building up quickly, fuelled intensely by such a foreign experience.
There was one more place I wanted to explore before releasing between the feline's smooth lips. With a bit more soap on my fingers, I rubbed higher below his tail. The warm pucker spasmed under my touch, as I glided over its folds. The suds slowly dissolved and the friction increased. I massaged the puma's tail-hole deeply, then attempted to stretch it open, feeling it relax and yield somewhat.
I came at that moment, ejaculating with a great shiver in the big cat's jaws while I fingered his other end. Tev swallowed everything, and kept on sucking until I tried to pull away. He looked up at me with his attractive eyes, licking up semen from his lips, before moving off.
I strained to get up and turn off the shower; my legs hurt from kneeling for so long. Tev immediately shook the water out of his fur, twisting his entire body back and forth and spraying droplets everywhere in the stall. I waited a bit, making sure the cougar was truly done, before pulling back the curtain and reaching for the thick towel that had been hanging unused for way too long. It took a lot of effort to dry up the puma's dense fur, and even then it was still rather damp.
Again, I rubbed Tev from head to toe. Reaching his rear-end, I saw he was still fully erect. I decided I would take care of this later, and stuck to my duty. Although I couldn't resist quickly slipping a hand under the towel to tease the excited cat.
Once the fabric was saturated and the feline acceptingly dry, I let the animal leave the stall and switched to my own towel. My naked body took much less effort to towel, but this short time was all it took for Tev to tease me in return. The cat walked out with a fully raised tail, giving me a good view of his dangling member and pink anus. When he reached the other side of the bathroom, the cougar lowered his front and stretched out, offering a tantalizing display.
The cat was patiently keeping its pose, but I didn't waste time anyways. I walked over to Tev and sat down behind him, my head hovering over his back end. I was getting hard again, and I could easily guess how the puma planned on relieving ourselves.
I placed a hand on Tev's rump and brushed the fur away from my target using my thumb. Carefully I brought my face lower to slide my tongue once over the puma's clean tail-hole. The cat reacted with a small squeak, as if this had been unexpected. I had never done such a thing before, and I was relying on him to guide me. But with the look of hesitation he was now giving me, I feared I had gone to far. Yet he kept his open posture, so I went in for another lick. I got an encouraging purr this time, so I carried on rimming the big cat.
With fading restraints I lapped at the cougar's twitching pucker, tasting vague remains of musk. I teased the folds of skin as I shoved my face under his tail, trying to push my tongue through the tightness. As with my fingers earlier, it took a bit of time for the muscles to loosen up. The tip of my prodding organ slipped in, and Tev immediately shoved back with a drawn out squeak. I couldn't go deeper with my short tongue, so I focused on swirling it around to stretch him out more, until my muscles were too fatigued.
I pulled my head away from the puma's under-tail, then as I caught my breath, I watched his wet and slightly dilated anus contract back to normal. I lowered my mouth once more, to deeply kiss the feline's heated tail-hole. I didn't know when to stop. Instead it was Tev who pulled away, drawing out a single string of saliva from my lips to his pucker, which soon collapsed onto his genitals.
Without turning around, Tev walked out of the bathroom. His raised tail let me know his intentions hadn't changed. I followed suit, down the hallway and up to the door of the guest bedroom. The cougar had stopped there, but was staring down towards the master bedroom. I had emptied it of my uncle's personal belongings a month ago. Except for a few souvenirs I had moved to the attic, everything else was donated. Despite the long vacancy, I still hadn't had the courage to move there. The mourning had ended months ago, but some things would take a lot longer.
I entered my room and sat down on the cold hardwood floor, my back against the wall next to the doorway. I closed my eyes and took deep breath to calm down. Tev would decide how far to take this; I was just trying to make him happy.
I was pounced out of my meditation by the puma, and instinctively curled up on the floor to protect my face and chest. The cat latched onto me and dug its muzzle against neck. Not to bite me, but to rub his cheeks against mine. The adrenaline rush ruined my attempt at regaining my composure, but Tev's affection brought me all the peace I needed. I opened up to him, letting the cougar lay over my body, like a warm blanket.
The feline licked my forehead, before standing up to take a few steps backwards. Without a hint, he lapped my penis with much slobber until it was back at full mast. I didn't expect that Tev would want to continue our little adventure, but I was willing to follow him. The cat didn't seem to want anymore wasted time, and quickly made his way to the bed. I watched him hop on the corner, but curiously stop short, such that his hind legs were dangling off the side. The puma raised his tail again, inviting me over to claim his tight rump.
With feverishness I took my place behind Tev, and aligned my erection under his tail. Our moist flesh met, and with one hand holding his hip, I pushed forward gently. My member slid in much easier than I expected; it almost felt like the feline's warm innards were sucking me in. I stopped halfway, afraid I would hurt him if I went in too fast. Instead I pulled back until only my glans were massaged by his slow contraction, before thrusting again, a bit deeper this time. After a few repetitions I finally hilted the cougar.
I leaned over Tev, grinding down a little to make him purr, and lowered my face into the fur of his neck. The big cat's tail strained against my abdomen, while I reached around to rub our ball together. His confines felt amazing around my whole length, but I didn't want to stay put any longer. Now with both hands holding onto his lower torso, I began mating the puma.
The cougar interrupted his purring with odd little squeaks as I bumped my hips into his. The cat's dangling legs twitched against mine and our sacks collided, as thing got more vigorous. Since the puma didn't object, I sped up gradually to my own limit. Even though the fur muffled sound, I could still hear a faint slap every time I rammed into his stretched hole. I wasn't going to last long this first time, and neither was Tev, judging by the strange moaning noises he was making.
Just a moment of breeding Tev's needy rear was all it took for him to have an orgasm. The cat pushed his muzzle against the bed to suppress a hiss, and shot his load onto my left leg. Every spurt came with a contraction, which I rode through rather mercilessly, bringing me up to my own climax. I filled the puma's clamping hole, grinding again to release my seed deep inside him. We both panted from heat and exhaustion, while I took a few last weak thrusts.
After pulling out, I sat down on the floor behind and quietly watched Tev's twitching tail-hole leak slowly. I couldn't resist the sight, and kneeled closer to shove my face under his tail. With both hands kneading his soft paws, I lapped at his tail-hole until it was seeping no more. The animal's breathing had slowing down to a calm rhythm, and after kissing the puma's anus one last time, I got to work cleaning everything else (using more conventional methods).
Every morning I woke up early to find Tev by my side. I would move closer to hug him, and fall back asleep between his big paws.
