Hopper's aunt's ears flickered, before she frowned and get gentle hold turned strong and aggressive, as she held Hopper tight and began sniffing at his neck and chest.
“Aunt – you're...hurting me!" Hopper whimpered, as he felt her strong, dark claws sinking into his fur.
“I smell – something - “ She growled, then her eyes narrowed as she rolled over, pressing him down against the mattress, all thoughts of kindness and affection washed away as her lips curled back and she held the crying and struggling Hopper, sniffing him then moving down his chest.
“Aunt, please – you're - “ Hopper sobbed and began to struggle, but h=she merely snorted and gripped him tighter, her upper body strength pinning him down and immobilising him as he nuzzled lower down his belly and frowned, before a low, threatening grow escaped her throat as she caught the scent of the Whip tail Doe – and Hopper's residual unwashed body.
“How...dare you!" Snarled the Doe, as she leaned back, pressing her paws against Hoppers chest, sharp claws pricking his flesh. “Do you have any idea what you have done?"
“Please..." Hopper begged, his eyes streaming tears and his body trembling.
“You've mated..." She snapped at him, then began savagely biting his ears, making Hopper scream and struggle beneath her. “Who was it, tell me you insolent Joey, or I'll make sure you never mate again, without my permission! Do you have any idea what you've done!"
“Please - “ Hopper screamed, as he beat against her chest with his slender paws, crying in fright and pain as she cruelly bit his sensitive ears again and again, until blood spattered the pillow and bed sheet.
“You have no right breeding, do you hear me? You're only a joey – you should not - “ Overcome with her anger, Hopper's Aunt took out her aggression on him, biting his ears, his neck and shoulders, making him writhe and scream, before she slapped him sharply across the muzzle, snapping his head to the side. “You ungrateful, self-centred little insolent Joey – all my life, I've protected and cared for you, kept you safe and protected – this is how you repay me? You've broken my faith and trust in you Hopper – now – I'll ensure you never, ever, do so again..."
Hopper screamed, before his feral instincts caused him to lash out, and his slender hind feet kicked her savagely in the pouch, making her scream and writhe away, before she rolled off the bed and fell to the ground, moaning and clutching her pouch. Hopper rolled the other way, until he leapt from the bed and began clawing wildly at the door – his fear and instincts driving away his rational mind, as he tried to escape. He heard his Aunt get to her feet, then before he could turn and try to run, she sprang towards him and her superior height and weight crushed him against the wall, knocking the mirror off the stand, where it fell and shattered, before she gripped him by the neck and cruelly pulled him backwards, throwing him down onto the bed.
“You know nothing of mating!" She snarled, as he gripped his ears and twisted them, making Hopper scream and struggle, but her weight and strength easily overpowered the frightened wallaby. “When it was time, I was going to teach you, as my father taught me! It's been our way for millennia, when a Doe comes to breeding age, her father teaches her – that her mates pleasures come before her own – and a buck is taught by his mother, so it fell to me, to train you...but now, you've taken it on yourself, your own selfish, greedy pleasures...I should have known you would do such – now - “
Hopper whimpered, as he felt her grip him in a paralysing hold by the scruff of his neck, his body instinctively going limp, before she quickly used her strength to roll him over onto his back and pin him down again, before she straddled his groin and glared into his eyes, seeing the fear, fright and genuine pain in them, as she snarled in rage and anger.
“You want to know what mating is?" She snarled at him, then again, savagely bit his ears again and again, until Hopper was writhing and screaming in agony. “It was meant to be a loving, gentle thing, to teach you how to please a doe, to make her happy and content...but no, you've betrayed our kind, and our way of life Joey...for your own selfish, self-centred lusts...now shall you reap what you have sewn...for you are no child of mine, from this moment forth – I rescind the bond of familial love and trust in you – you're a stranger to me – and you're...you're going to get the treatment you deserve!"
Without warning, she threw Hopper hard across the room, the frightened and crying Whip tail smacking hard against the wall, before he felt her powerful claws sink into his shoulders as she leaned back on her thick, muscular tail and slammed her foot paws into his lower back. Hopper screamed until he couldn't scream anymore – begged and pleaded, as she continued her merciless, violent assault, until at last, her fury expended itself – and Hopper crumpled to the floor, broken, bleeding and sobbing helplessly, clutching his chest and gasping – sure she had at least fractured bones – if not actually broken them...but she wasn't through with him.
Gripping his slender tail between her paws, she dragged the squealing Hopper to the front door, then tore it open so it smashed against the wall, then she dragged him to his foot paws, then slid her strong paws under his chin and cruelly pulled his head back, before her muzzle flashed and her sharp teeth bit deep into his left ear. As Hopper shrieked like he'd never screamed before, she snapped her head back, the clenched teeth biting a notch out of his ear. Hopper screamed as he'd never screamed in his life – partially from the agony of the bite – and partially – because he knew instinctively, it'd marked him for the rest of his life as one who had broken their kinds most sacredly held rules...

Hopper lay sprawled in the rain at the foot of the stairs, coughing up blood which he spat onto the rain swept pavement, before his aunt slammed the door behind him and left him to die – from that moment on, he was already dead to her, emotionally and physically – and Hopper cried helplessly, his slender paws scraping a the wet cement on which he lay – naked as the day he was born and the cold, uncaring rain quickly soaked through his fine pelt and began to chill him to his bones as the broken bones grated and caused him agony beyond anything he'd known – and the bitten ear seared like someone had filled it with white hot fire.
For thirty minutes, Hopper lay sprawled, crying and trembling, until some deep reserve of strength gave him the ability to drag himself over to a tree, then using his short, blunt claws, he clung to it and dragged himself upright. His eyelashes dropped water onto his muzzle, as he tearfully looked up and down the street – but he knew he had one hope – one chance – and as he gasped and continued to cough up blood and phlegm, he staggered down the street, heading for the one person he knew might be able to help him...

Katy come to work early the next day, and as she pulled into the assigned car park – she noticed a trembling, wet ball of fur that was cringing in the corner under the shelter of a tree whose wet leaves dripped water on the quivering creature. Slipping from the car, Katy frowned, then walked closer – before her eyes widened in fear and misery, then she ran to the creature and grabbed it, before Hopper screamed in agony and flinched – Katy unintentionally hurting him as she picked him up and held his soaked body close against herself, cradling him like a baby.
“Hopper? What the...who did this too you – you're soaked!" Katy whispered, as she tenderly brushed his muzzle, then felt Hopper whimper and tremble – partly from the injuries and partly from the bone sapping cold.
Quickly, Katy took him inside the sanctuary, before she showered him – Hopper whimpering and trembling, then she did what she could for the injury to his ear – not understanding the implications of it – and then began tenderly feeling over his slender body, watching him gasp as she touched his robs and lower back.
“Talk to me honey...who...who did this to you?" Katy sobbed, as she looked at the deep slashes on his lower back, then her mind filled in the missing pieces of the puzzle. “Oh no..."
“My aunt did this!" Hopper screamed, before he burst into hysterical tears, and Katy tenderly held him, unable to do anything else, as the terrified young wallaby broke down physically and emotionally.
Katy quickly left the room, then returned only moments later, then wrapped Hopper in thick towels and dried him off, before she tenderly lay him down on the bed and watched as the abused and terrified wallaby curled up defensively, tucking his slender tail between his legs and clutching at it, as he continued to sob heart brokenly. He blinked, then Katy sniffled, as she gripped his nape and slipped the needle home, pressing down hard on Hopper as he screamed and struggled – the syringe's contents quickly working as the powerful sedative spread through his body – and his struggles eased before he coughed once more – then his eyelids fluttered closed...
“You poor, mistreated creature - “ Katy sniffled, as she discarded the syringe and needle, then tenderly uncurled Hopper and began to gather the instruments and other equipment she would need to try and clean and bandage his multiple, horrific injuries. “How could she do this to you, you're so – fragile and innocent...."
Hopper had no answer for her – as he lapsed into a deep, drug induced slumber – and Katy sighed, before she reached for the phone and called a work colleague who was a Veterinarian, and asked him if he could come in to help – she had need of his expertise...

Hours later, Hopper's eyes fluttered and he moaned in pain and suffering, before experimentally flexing his toes, then his ankles, and eventually starting to move other parts of his furred body, before he whimpered and trembled, then clutched the blanket that covered him and pulled it up so only his head was visible. He squealed when he felt a hand touch his neck, and he twisted his head, to see Katy's tired, stressed expression, before she timidly stroked his cheek and smiled nervously at him.
“Hopper, you're awake - “ Katy whispered, her voice soft and gentle. “We've cleaned your wounds, but please – try not to move too much – we had to stitch up some deep slashes and other injuries, now, can you tell me why she did what happened? Who did this to you, little one?..."
“No..." Hopper sniffled, as he winced and rolled away, before Katy heard him start to sob heart brokenly, his body quivering.
“It's alright Hopper, you're safe now – I don't know what happened, but if you don't want to talk to me – that's alright, I won't push you, just get some rest little one, we can talk later, alright?"
Hopper twitched and curled back up again, before Katy tenderly kissed him on the cheek and walked out, turning off the light and closing the door to a slight crack, to keep the noise down, so the frightened and crying wallaby would get some rest, which he badly needed.
