Growvember Day 6
#6 of Growvember Series
The military is escalating its forces for some reason, forcing Bryant to break some rules and seek out the truth
November 6th
I woke up to people talking around me, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, expecting to have started growing again. I could tell I had, maybe at least a foot, comparing an old foot print of mine from yesterday to today, but I was more amazed at my body. I looked like I had been working out my whole life. I couldn't believe it as I felt up my six pack. I was quickly pulled away as two other giants got into a more heated discussion above me. "Something isn't right! Look! They got tanks now!" A wolf growled, pointing over in a direction. That made me immediately stand up and look, seeing indeed tanks were more or less just outside the city now, still a bit ways away from us, but still, why were they here? "Did anyone ask why?" I asked immediately. "Nobody is talking to us, its all creepy." The other fur, a Raccoon said. I pushed past them, trying to find Chris, even shouting his name a few times. Finally, a hand was placed on my shoulder and I spun around, face to face with the puma. And holy hell was he buff, bigger than me! "Hey man, what's up?" He looked concerned as well. "Do you know what's going on?" I asked after getting over my initial shock. "Notta. Scientists are staying locked up in their trailers. Military people tell us to not worry about it and everything is okay. They won't even let people in to visit." He slumped his shoulders, "My mom was going to check up on me. She flew all the way out here." The hairs on the back of my head were standing up. Alarms were going off inside my brain that something had to have happened. Did they make a breakthrough in the research and discover something that could be dangerous with us? Did some incident happen to cause an increase in security? "Have you noticed anyone missing from the camp?" "Not that I know of. Some furs first thought Ronald did something. But he was sleeping when they rolled in. And man, if you thought he was big before, he's built like a fucken tank now!" He exclaimed. Could that be the call for tanks? Seeing us getting beefed up and even more dangerous. "We need outside information." I said in a hushed tone, making sure no one could hear. "But who? No one will let us into the city, and no visitors." Chris looked puzzled. "I'm gonna try to sneak out. My girlfriend lives on the outskirts of town, just outside the subburbs. If I can get to her, she can fill me in." "What kind of distraction?" He asked. "I don't know, start a fight? A chant? Something." I hissed as another giant walked by. He shrugged and thought for a bit before heading off into the group, starting to chant "We wanna know! We wanna know!" Surprisingly enough, it actually started to work, with the group moving towards the front of the camp, drawing more military personnel immediately towards them. Looking around quickly and see the coast was clear, I took off and heading towards the town.
It took me shorter than expected, I really needed to take my size into account for travel. I slowed my pace to try and not cause to much attention, seeing Samantha's house with her car in the driveway. I wasn't sure how to do this, so I simply strolled up to the house, letting my footfalls announce my arrival. Bending down I could already see her looking out her window, looking panicked, with her parent's behind her. Seeing it was me, she ran out. "Bryant! What are you doing here?" She both scolded and yelled so I could hear. "Something weird is going on Sam! They called in tanks and surrounded the city! They won't let anyone in to visit and they aren't saying anything!" I kept my voice low, but urgent. "You need to go back right now! You'll only make it worse!" She actually pushed against my foot for emphasis. "Sam! Come on! What happened?" I asked, starting to really get worried now. "Some giants a few miles from here for some reason just started to rampage and attack the military and city, destroying nearly half of it! Its all over the news! If anyone sees you, they'll either think you're part of it and got too far away, or its starting here!" Suddenly the voices in the woods came haunting back to me. This was only going to fuel their cause. Then my eyes opened wide in horror. Chris's chant was only going to add fuel to the fire. "Oh shit! I need to get back now before something happens!" I got up and heel turned, a deep hole in their yard and knocking over their small tree. "Sorry!" I called back and tore off.
I knew there would be reports of a large brown bunny running amoke on the outskirts of the city, but I didn't care. The chant was still going on, louder than ever as I slipped into the group once more, finding Chris, still shouting. "Chris! We gotta stop this!" "What?" He yelled back. "Stop the chant! I found out! It was a bad idea!" I shouted back, trying to find some way to get everyone's attention. Chris tried to yell for furs to stop, but no one listened. "Chris! Put me on your shoulders! Maybe I can get everyone's attention!" He nodded, getting down on a knee as I climbed onto his shoulders, luckily his new body lifting me up with most ease as I waved to get everyone's attention, shouting, but it stil wasn't working. That's when a helicopter with a large speaker flew towards us, a voice blaring out over us. "Citizens! Please! We know you are worried but you don't need to be! This is merely a defensive matter that doesn't concern you!" "The hell it doesn't!" A voice shouted. My eyes went wide, searching for its owner. It sounded just like one of the voices in the woods. "He's right! Its not us! Another group close to here went rogue and attacked the people! They are merely defending the city!" I shouted. The voice over the speaker was quiet at first, before speaking. "How did you learn about that?" It finally asked. My ears drooped. "I snuck out to ask a friend." I finally admitted. "That was very stupid of you! But its true, there was an incident and an attack. We are putting our trust in you to not act the same way as we prepare incase those giants come this way. Please understand." The voice pleaded. The other giants murmurred amongst themselves before dispersing as best as they could in the area. Chris kneeled back down so I could get down, the copter flying towards us. "Come to the edge of the encampment please." The voice said. We both looked at each other as it flew away, following, knowing we were in trouble. As the helicopter landed, we knelt to hear better and talk, a very well decorated lion in military brass stepped out, glaring up at us. "Inciting a riot and sneaking off! Like I don't have enough problems on my hands! What the hell were you two thinking?" "I'm sorry sir. Its my fault. We just wanted to know what was going on." I responded. "We're trying to keep everyone calm as best as we can. Your little incident here probably caused half the city to panic with that stunt!" He fumed, glaring up, not intimated at all at the size difference. "I'm sorry sir, but if your troops had told us first what was going on, there wouldn't have been a need to." I shot back, feeling my ears flush in anger. "We were preparing a document to explain things more clearly, for both you and the citizens. We have to choose our words carefully to not cause a similar incident." He huffed up. I sighed and drooped my head. "Again, I apologize sir. But..." I felt this had to be the best time to tell it now, there was no other choice, "My friend and I here overheard two other giants already thinking you are up to something to get rid of us. This whole thing of keeping us in the dark might have just been the push they needed to rebel." I sighed. The lion clenched his jaw so hard I thought he was going to shatter his teeth. "Fucken wonderful." He turned sharply, starting to march away. Chris glared at me. "Dude..." He whispered. There was a pit in my stomach, knowing I may have just made it even worse for us.
