Chapter 29 making plans

Grey landed on Sarah squarely with total rage in his yellow eyes. Nothing she could say could quench his anger, his hurt. Knowing that at least his son was stuck in that horrible place ate him up. He knew that ment Blue had no idea what being a real wolf was and was most likely someone's pet in there. But he stopped....and backed up slowly turning away disgusted. For he knew if he hurt Sarah he would never forgive himself or see his son again. "Sarah why....why didnt you tell me. I trusted you and not only am i treated like some fucking lab rat, im now subjected to this?" Sarah sat trembling not sure what to say. She loved this creature so much and yet she could do nothing to calm him. "Grey.....your my heart, if i thought we could escape this whole thing dont you know i would. I had no idea it was your son or you know in your heart I would have told you." Grey turned and approached stopping nose to nose, his eyes filled with tears searched her's. "They must be released Sarah or i swear on everything i know or do i will end this all right here right now. Other than you my pack or whatever is left of it is all i know." She reached out and hugged the big grey wolf not knowing if it was the right thing to do but felt right in the moment. "I will call him right now, for you....for us."

She got up and went inside picking up her cell phone and dialed her boss. It rang a few times then he answered. "Ohhh hello Sarah how goes it with the dog?" She shook her head at his repulsive comment "look you asshole you never mentioned the fact that Blue is Grey's fucking son. Do you even realize what that did to him? Your lucky he didnt throw himself off the balcony." There was a slight pause then a laugh was heard "oh yea i forgot to mention that. We do DNA testing on all animals that come in and yep they are related. I chose Blue because i thought maybe talking to us ran more strongly in his line. Honestly i didnt think he would find out so who cares what he thinks?" She was so angry Sarah hardly knew what to say. Just then Grey walked up behind her "put the fucker on speaker so i can hear him." Doing as told Grey cracked his neck before speaking. "So.....sir how many from my pack are in there. And for once dont lie to me. Ive gifted you with the largest breakthrough in modern history so i think you could at least be honest with me in this instance." "Well dog HONESTLY just you two. In the report when we got you fuzz balls they mentioned most had to be shot because they kept trying to protect you two. Finally i guess they got the message and took off but a weird thing, the trappers said howls could be heard all the way back to the institute." Grey stood somber listening with a slight head tilt. He could remember that night hearing the howls of wolves but at the time in his state did not know why. "Well i want to see him....my son. And i want him released from that cell. He is my blood and not a test subject of your cruel project. He has the message it was sent by a crow. But....dont tell him who i am.....not yet until i can see him nose to nose and tell him myself." For once the boss was slightly if for a moment taken back. As Grey had commonly thought of humans as lesser obviously he had as well. "Hmmm well i will talk this over with the board of supervisors and we can probably use this as a test. Maybe we can bring Blue there since Sarah seems to have become the wolf whisperer. But i warn you we have implanted a chip in Blue's brain much different than the one used before. This one cant be removed so easily and one hit of the enter key and lights out for him." Grey growled deep but kept his composure. "Agreed but after this we are to be set free. You have your data, we want our freedom, that goes for Sarah as well." After a long pause the man spoke in his typical raspy and unfriendly tone. "Look dog i call the shots not you. But i do think a situation where you check in could be reached." Grey looked to Sarah and nodded as to say he had heard enough and turned from the phone. She picked it up still shaking somewhat "you had better live up to your promise or i swear to god one day Grey will have your throat." She hung up the phone and collapsed looking at Grey. He plodded over to her and laid in her lap where they both trembled both afraid and excited for what the future held.

Chapter 30 the meeting

A few weeks passed without much word. Blue still had not spoken to anyone and Grey had become worried. He would pace back and forth in the apartment for hours, so much so that a bare spot had been worn into the carpet near the balcony. He said little to anyone including Sarah and he felt bad about that. But she knew he still loved her and with so much on his mind nothing would break his thought. Finally one day he stopped his constant pacing and ran to her. "Sarah call the institute let me talk to him, i can get him to talk....to say the message." She grabbed the phone and called then asked a doctor to take the phone to the cell. They put it on speaker thinking this was insane but all of their trials so far had shown no results. "B...blue this is Grey, i really need you to say the message to them. Its more important than you can understand right now. Dont worry not all humans are bad, ive meet a very kind one named Sarah. She got me out of that place and now we live in the city. B...but if you tell them the message there is a possibility we could all get freedom from this." Blue had been sitting by the cage door head tilted listening. At first it sounded like a trick but he remembered the crow. What crow would be crazy enough to pick hairs off a wolf to give to another wolf? He looked to the doctor standing there and spoke "all is good". Everything went silent till another doctor standing near by yelled woohoo and claps could be heard. Blue looked to the phone and spoke again "grey? Can you howl?" Instantly Grey backed up from the phone and looked at Sarah wide eyed. He nodded to speak with her away for a moment. "He will know my howl its imprinted upon them from the first time they hear it. I....im not ready for him to know." "Shhhh love he wants to know, he is reaching out. You can teach him to be wolf god knows you already proved that." "But i dont even know him other than his scent. I abandoned him and look what happend." For once Sarah felt a need to knock some sense into her mate and bit his neck growling. "Listen Grey thats your son calling for you. Forget the past and set him free." Grey yelped then nodded and walked over to the phone. He took in a deep breath leaned his head back and howled long. Blue sat for a moment in thought then it hit him like a ton of bricks. He reared up hitting the cage happy and yelled "dad is it really you?" "Yea son its me....i was hoping to tell you nose to nose rather than this stupid human invention." "I...i love you dad i need you, i need someone." The doctor took the phone and clicked end as Grey heard the dial tone. He fell to the floor crying and looked to Sarah, "ok we did our part.....now give us our freedom."
