Growvember: The Complete Series
#1 of Series
For those who don't want to go through each chapter on their own
Random furs around the world being growing at various rates. No one knows what's causing it, or even if it is curable.
Bryant, a bunny, is one of these furs and must survive his growing ordeal against rogue giants who seek to claim ownership of cities and their people, along with trying to grope with the concept that everyone he loves and cares about are dwindling right before his eyes, leaving him alone.
Growvember
November 1st
No one knows what caused it. No one really knew what was happening, but a select group of furs on the planet were starting to grow. What was stranger yet, it all started on the same day, November first.
My name's Bryant. I'm your normal anthro bunny with mostly brown fur and a few spots of white here and there. I lived in my own apartment, payed my bills, worked in an office, a basic boring life.
That is until I woke up on November first, only to find things were definitely off. First, my covers weren't covering my whole body in bed. I thought I had just pulled them up too far, or down, but now, the size was the same. The second tell was when I went to get out of bed, and noticed my feet hitting the floor sooner than I expected. And once I stood up, something was definitely off. Everything was lower. Not by a lot, but still.
I was stunned, shocked. I wasn't a short bun, normally six foot. But this was actually pretty exciting! I mean, who would believe someone could grow to almost eight feet tall over night?
That's when it dawned on me one problem.
What was I going to wear to work?!
I could already see my boxers were pretty tight on my lower half. My office clothing would barely fit. I would have to basically call off sick and head to the big and tall store for something for tomorrow.
I picked up my cellphone and dialed, having a bit more trouble with larger fingers before finally getting the number right. After a phew rings, my boss picked up.
"What's wrong Bryant?" The gruff badger's voice came over.
"Sorry Sir, I'm feeling a bit under the weather today, I need to take the day off." I tried to sound a bit hoarse when I talked.
"You too huh? Is there some kind of bug going around?" He snapped back, almost sounding unconvinced.
"I don't know sir. Just not feeling well."
"Fine, so far mostly everyone is showing up. Though, wasn't Mary usually shoulder height to us? I know she worked in the back room out of sight most of the time, but I was looking at her eye to eye today! She seemed pretty shy too." He pondered out loud. Mary was a short shrew that did most of the filing for the company. Had she grown too somehow?
"I can't remember sir, I rarely saw her. But I really need to lay down, my head is feeling really heavy."
"Okay Bryant, rest up. See you tomorrow."
I phewed in relief as we hung up, but now I was really wondering what was going on. Mary had grown too apparently. Could there be more?
Figuring I'd know sooner or later, I grabbed a quick breakfast and found some older sweats in the back of the closet that barely fit and an outdated t-shirt that clung tightly to my chest, and stilled showed off some of my stomach.
Well, I had to make do and headed out the door.
I was shocked when I got to the clothing shop to see it was packed, a lot of furs, some my height, some a few inches shorter, were all looking to find new clothes to fit, along with talk how they just woke up taller than normal.
One bear towered over all of us though, he had to have been at least ten feet tall! The tailors of the store were having a hard time finding something for him, as he was wrapped in a bed sheet.
After getting a few pieces of clothing to fit into, the whole start seeming to be bought out by then, I headed to get some groceries at least.
The same thing was going on. People were talking about how they woke up taller suddenly, for some reason, not knowing what caused it.
I quickly headed home, not wanting to be really dragged into the conversation myself with another random fur.
I finally made some breakfast, larger than normal with my new size, ate, and switched between watching TV and playing video games. It was really weird feeling a smaller controller in my hands.
But late afternoon, my phone rang again. The called ID said it was my girlfriend, Samantha, another bunny.
"Hey hon, have you looked at the news?" She spoke the second I answered.
"No? Why?"
"Turn it on! Quickly! Channel 7!"
I quickly paused my game and flipped on the TV, going to the station, a special report flashing on the screen. The brown horse anchor man peer at the camera.
"A sudden growth wave seems to be sweeping not just the nation, but the world today. Reports are coming in of furs having apparently grown overnight to heights once thought unattainable for their species."
My mind began to race. Worldwide?
"While no cause has been determined yet, researchers are hard at working testing volunteers to find out what is causing them to grow..."
I tuned out after that, my girlfriend starting to talk once more.
"Can you believe it? Some weird growth spurts going on! But...did you...?" She hesitated the last part. I wasn't sure how to respond. Lie? Tell her I was almost eight feet tall? No, she would worry, I would keep it a secret for now.
"No. Not yet anyway. You?"
"Sadly no, I could've used a couple of inches at least though. This sucks. Everyone else got lucky." She sighed.
"Well, maybe it could still happen to you? Heh, maybe you'll grow so huge I get lost in your fur!" I joked.
"You perv. I know EXACTLY where you'd go!" She giggled.
We chatted a bit more before finally hanging up. I couldn't stop thinking though what she would say if she came over and saw. I was tempted to call back and invite her over, but it was already getting late, and I had to sleep for work.
I slapped my forehead as I slipped into bed, forgetting to get another sheet out of the closet to cover myself up in.
Once I was settled in, I stared up at the ceiling a bit wondering how I was going to explain this to my boss tomorrow. Oh well. I guess he'll be in for a big surprise.
He wasn't going to be the only one.
November 2nd
I woke up immediately knowing something was wrong. I wiggled my feet, feeling them on the carpet. That couldn't be right. That was impossible.
I started to roll out of bed, only to notice I was barely on it. Once I was off to the side, I saw my mattress and frame were completely crushed.
I was in shock. This had to be a dream. It had to be. There was no way I had somehow grown again. I gulped, starting to stand, only to hit my head on the ceiling, denting it and sitting back down quickly on my bed, feeling it crunch once more.
"I can't be..." I muttered. The ceiling was at least 11 or 12 feet high, and I could only get half way up. That means...
"I'm over 20 feet tall..." I gulped, staring down to see my new boxers were in tatters from the new growth.
I crawled on my hands and knees over to where my phone was, the thing so tiny and small now I was afraid I was going to crush it between my two fingers. I was going to have to come clean now. No way I could go out like this.
Using the voice command, I first contacted my boss, who was in disbelief at first, even if Mary also hadn't shown up, along with a few others. I told him if he didn't believe me to come on over and I'd show him. He said he believed me, but hung up with a huff.
I sighed and drew my legs to my chest, starting to feel worried. What was I going to do now? Was I becoming some kind of freak? What if it never stops? What would Samantha think?
I took a deep breath.
Samantha. I had to call her next and explain everything now. Even how I lied.
Again, using the voice command, I called her phone. It took a bit for her to pick up, but I could tell she had just woken up from the sound of her voice.
"Yeah babe, what's up?"
"Sam...you remember what I said last night?"
"Mm...no..." she yawned before continuing, "What was it about? And whats with your voice? Its loud."
"Oh...sorry. Well, remember the news report, and how I said I hadn't grown? Well..."
"Wait, you grew today?" She immediately sounded more awake.
"Not just today, I had grown yesterday too. But I didn't want to tell you..." I sighed.
"Really? So you're giant like some of those folks on TV?"
"Not like those on TV, I'm actually bigger than them now."
There was silence on the other end.
"No way." Was all she could say.
"Yeah." I couldn't help but blush.
"How big?"
"I'm not sure. Close to around 20 feet at least, probably a bit more."
"I'll come over right away. Don't go anywhere." And she hung up.
I sighed and looked around, I was barely able to fit through the large door from my bedroom to the rest of the apartment, but there was no way I was going to fit through my front door.
That made me worry more. What if I grew again? Would the floor be able to hold my weight? What if I outgrew my apartment? I couldn't afford the repairs!
I sat still, pondering so hard on these thoughts I didn't even hear the knock on my door. Getting back on all fours, I crawled over to the door, struggling a bit with the lock and the latch, snapping the chain and nearly twisting off the knob before quickly scooting back.
Samantha opened the door and stepped inside, immediately her black and white furred hands going to her face as her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets at the sight before her.
"Oh. My. God. You weren't lying..."
"Yeah...its really weird." I couldn't help but be a bit fascinated at how small she looked to me, barely knee high by my guess if I could stand up fully.
Slowly she walked around me, drinking in every bit in awe.
"Did it hurt?"
"No, its been mostly happening overnight, so I don't know if I slept through the pain or not."
She couldn't help but touch my leg, rubbing up and down.
"Holy shit, I'm not dreaming am I?"
I couldn't help but chuckle.
"I said the same thing."
"So what's it like?"
"Well, everything looks small at the moment. But actually, now that I think about it, I don't even feel hungry right now. And I didn't have to go to the bathroom the morning either."
"Huh, that is weird. Notice anything else?" She idly walked in front of me again, looking me up and down.
"What are you getting at...oh..." I rolled my eyes. "Now who's being a perv?"
"Oh come on! Let me see!" She huffed, the insides of her ears turning red.
I rolled my eyes and parted my legs, letting her see my balls and sheath compared to her.
"Holy crap, its huge..." She gasped. Though to me it looked the same. I could only smirk.
"I don't think its gonna fit ya know." I winked. She kicked my foot.
"Don't you even try. You'll rip me in two!"
"Don't worry, I won't. Anyway, could you turn on the TV? Maybe there is something on the news about this."
She went over to grab the remote, going immediately to the news station where a breaking news report was going on.
"More reports are coming in of other furs still growing from last night's wave, the biggest reported being nearly 30 feet tall. We go live to this living giant with Trish Takawombi. Trish?" The horse anchorman passed it over to a black and white panda, standing in front of a massive brown bear I immediately recognized from the Big and Tall store yesterday. My mouth hung open at how huge he was now. 30 feet? No way, he had to be closer to 35.
"Thank you Jerry. Mr. Ronald Forsmith Had to have the side of his home torn down just to get out of his room, having grown too large to get through a door, and was too afraid of a completely collapse of his roof if he broke his way out. He doesn't know why he is growing, but just woke up larger yesterday, as did many other furs. I tried to get an interview with him, but he doesn't want to talk at the moment with the press. Back to you."
"Thanks Trish. With me now is Professor Yogsliph from AU, an expert on Biology and anthrophysiogly, for this phenomenon." He turned to his side, the camera angle changing to reveal an old white goat in a suite and tie.
"Professor, has the science community made any breakthroughs since yesterday on what is going on?"
"Not at the moment sadly Jerry. But we are working hard to find out whats going on. So far there doesn't seem to be any pattern. The furs growing have nothing in common, and each are growing at different paces. We also don't know when it will stop, or if it contagious. But what I can recommend is this. If you are stuck in your home, call the fire department to try and get you out. We want to try and keep everyone as safe as we can."
Samantha turned off the TV and pulled out her phone.
"Well, I guess that settles it. We need to get you out of here." She began to dial 911, telling them of me being stuck.
I wasn't the only one though, and it took a few more hours for the fire department to eventually get to me and begin to cut away at my wall. What was worse, I was on the third floor of the apartment complex, so had to make a "small" leap down. Cars were moved and enough space was given to me as I hopped down, the distance not being that too great for me, but the thud alerted car alarms and shook some furs off their feet.
I blushed, wearing a makeshift loincloth from my bed sheets with Samantha's help, but still felt really exposed.
I was apparently suppose to go to a field outside of the city limits. There was a camp already set up to help take care of furs with my condition, and to try and help the researchers if we wanted to.
I nodded, saying goodbye to Sam for now and taking a special route that was set for me to walk on.
I was scared for what tomorrow would bring.
November 3rd
I awoke with an oof as someone jammed their foot into my stomach. Last I was sent to an encampment set up my the government for those of us too big to fit into our homes, or danger of outgrowing them. There wasn't really cover for us to sleep under, due to our size, which made the early spring weather a bit chilly. Nonetheless, it was better than have rubble falling on top of us.
Anyway, I felt the kick again and groaned, trying to scoot back but bumping into someone else.
"Hey! Watch it!"
"Sorry." I grunted, sighing and just sitting straight up.
My jaw nearly hit the ground as I looked over the field. No wonder we were fighting for space, we were nearly all crammed together now, apparently having grown once more over night. Some of the other furs just waking up noticed this too, most looking a bit concerned, but one or too I could see in their eyes a gleam of excitement. I was going to keep an eye on them.
I tried to find a trailers where the scientists and guards were staying, carefully stepping over other furs still sleeping. Even then, it was real weird that I could hear my own footsteps thooming onto the grass, imprints left in the ground as I looked back. I will admit, just seeing that sight sent a thrill down my spine.
I had a lot of power at this size, and unless the army was being called in, now one could really stop me, could they? I mean, I wasn't sure of my size, but I had at least doubled and then some by the looks of things. When I finally came to the trailers, I noticed I could easily pick one up in my hand if I wanted to, with minimal effort. I actually really wanted to do it just to try, but no, these people were trying to help us.
I wasn't the only one wanting to know what was going on. At least two other giants were there talking to someone at their feet, a fox and a puma.
"What do you mean you still have no leads? Its been three days! You have to have something by now!" The fox glared angrily down at the normal folk, who barely came up to our ankles at this point.
"Please sir! We are doing the best we can at the moment! As you said, its only three days! We need more time!" The small in a lab coat yelled up.
"More time? Look at me! I could Stomp you flat if I wanted to!"
"Whoa now Kevin, stop. They're trying to help!" The puma put his arm over the fox's chest, holding him back.
"Come on Chris! They could be the ones behind this! Some kind of government experiment that's gone out of control!"
The puma growled and pushed him back.
"Stop trying to spread that rumor damnit! Its not cool! You'll spread a panic!" He growled, baring his fangs.
"You want to start something?" Kevin growled back, balling his hands into fists. I quickly moved forward, getting in between the two.
"Guys! Calm down! You could hurt someone! Just take a deep breath and relax. This'll get figured out." I looked at both with my hands outstretched, actually noticing I was larger than the two by a few feet at least. The fox glared at both of us before turning briskly and stomping off.
"Hey, thanks man." Chris slumped his shoulders. "I've been friends with the guy since childhood, but ever since we started growing, he seemed to get a bit more unhinged."
"Its fine. I'm Bryant by the way. Nice to meet you." I smiled, extending my hand.
"Chris, but you probably already knew that." He smiled back, shaking my hand. I turned my attention back to the tiger scientist, who seemed to be trying to recompose himself after that incident.
"Has there been any progress yet at least?" I asked, squatting down before the tiger so he didn't have to yell so much.
"At the moment, no. As I was telling them, we're still in the early stages, but are working 24 hours a day to find out what's causing this. All we know so far is You seem to lack the need of food and well...going to the bathroom to put it bluntly. It makes no sense scientifically and its baffling us. It's like your whole biology is being rewritten." The tiger explained, cleaning his glasses.
"That is true, after the first day. I didn't need to eat or go. Did you?" Chris asked me.
"No, same thing. I ate the first day, but thinking back, I don't even think I was hungry at the time. It was out of habit now that I think about it." I answered back.
"Yeah...actually I think the same for me." Chris put a hand on his chin and nodded, thinking back to it.
"Anyway, I'll let you get to work sir. Also, if my girlfriend, Samantha Herrington, shows up, can you notify me at all?" I started to stand back up.
"I'll see what I can do. But for now, please try to find a spot to sit at. We'll be coming around asking for volunteers for some tests." The tiger nodded, heading back to the trailers.
Chris and I both headed off, mostly chatting about ourselves and stuff we use to do. Just to try and pass the time. There really wasn't much you could do at this size except sit.
As he said, some scientists were coming around, asking for blood samples from anyone willing. Chris and I both did, and the one scientist looked at my name on the chart.
"Bryant Loyft?"I was to pass a message to you that your girlfriend was here. It looks like she may have been waiting for half an hour though, sorry to tell you so late but..."
"No, its fine, just which way do I go?" I asked, perking up.
"That way, we set up a visiting section for now to meet with anyone you may know. Just please watch your step."
I nodded and stood, making sure to keep an eye on the ground as I walked over, seeing a large platform and other giants sitting, talking to normal folk. I could barely make her out right away, but Samantha was jumping up and down, trying to get my attention. What was even more surprising was she had brought someone else with her, my boss.
I say down slowly, as to not cause too much of a quake, hunching over a bit.
"Heya hon and hi Mr. Baskowits." I smiled a bit coyly. "Told you I wasn't lying."
Mr. Baskowits didn't respond, his mouth still agape at my current size, seeming to try and process it.
"So, you all grew again?" Samantha asked a bit coldly, looking me up and down.
"Are you okay Sam?" I asked, perking a brow.
"Yeah! Sorry, was just a little annoyed at Mr. Grouch here bugging me asking where you were. So I brought him along." She huffed, blowing a bit of hair from her eyes. Mr. Baskowits seemed to finally snap out of his stupor at the insult.
"Listen here girly, How was I suppose to know he wasn't lying to get out of work?" He gruffed, crossing his arms.
"So, any breakthroughs here that hasn't made it to the news yet? Like what's causing it?" Sam asked, leaning forward a bit.
"Nothing yet. They just took some blood samples from us to test. But so far, the only thing we have in common is no longer needing to eat or expose waste." I tried to put it in a better term. Sam giggled.
"Well, that's a relief." She joked, causing both me and my boss to roll our eyes.
We talked a bit more about current events going on, mostly about the appearance of growing giants. And that's when she got a bit fearful.
"Some people are calling for the government to arm cities better with tanks, just in case one of you go rogue and go on a rampage." She almost said in a hush tone. I immediately thought back to Kevin and how angry he was. That could actually happen.
"Look, everyone is cooperating with the scientists to fix this. So I wouldn't worry bout it. But if one does, just know I'll protect you, okay?" I smiled and leaned down as best as I could, with my cheek to the platform, letting her give a quick kiss.
"Thanks love. But we better get going. Some of us still have to eat." She winked, Mr Baskowits waving to me as they descended the platform.
Slowly I stood back up and headed back to find an empty spot to rest in, mostly just laying on my back, staring up at the clouds. I hoped the cure would be found tomorrow, and this would all be resolved, but then something occurred to me.
What if some of these furs didn't want to be cured? I had seen the looks in some of their faces, like they were eager to get bigger. What if they couldn't be stopped and everyone else shrunk down? No, everything would be fine. Everything would be back to normal soon.
November 4th
I woke up the next day a bit late, stretching. I took a deep breath before looking down, feeling like everything was going to be gone at this point, only to barely notice a change.
I had grown, definitely, but it was barely noticeable, maybe just a foot or less? Anyway, I was relieved. Maybe this meant whatever was growing us was losing strength, and we would stop eventually.
I looked around, and noticed that most of the other giants hadn't shot up higher than me either, so it wasn't just me slowing down. Chris saw me finally getting up and walked on over.
"You noticed too eh? We didn't get much bigger." He beamed.
I nodded and stood up.
"Did they find a cure or something?" I asked, dusting off my rear.
"Not that I heard of. Apparently they are still working on it. So maybe it was just temporary?"
"Yeah, I thought the same thing. If its true, they just need to figure out how to get us back to normal." He rubbed the back of his head a bit, seeming embarrassed by something.
"What's wrong?"
"Well, I'm happy and all, but kinda disappointed..." He looked down at our feet.
"Disappointed? Why? This is good news!" I was confused.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about it, I am! But I mean...I just had some curiosity to how far it would go ya know? Just...what it would be like to get so massive?"
I wanted to scorn him for the thought. For how dangerous that would be for everyone else, and how we could become a threat just by being around. It was a dangerous thought that should be tossed out immediately and feeling ashamed for even thinking it.
The problem is, I wanted to say that, but I couldn't. I felt it as well. That curiosity on how far this could go. And it wouldn't leave my mind alone no matter how many times I tried to banish it.
"Lets just be glad it seems to be over, okay?" I forced a smile, the cougar smiling back.
"Yeah, you're right."
"By the way, where has Kevin been? Thought you two still hung out together?" I asked, looking around for the fox. Chris sighed and slumped his shoulders.
"Ever since that fight, he's been ignoring me or trying to stay out of sight. I know there is probably like, 50 of us here currently, but I should be able to find him easily. I'm sorta worried about him."
"What makes you say that?" I perked a brow.
"I don't want him doing something stupid ya know? Lashing out at someone. He could really hurt people now, ya know? I don't think he's really grasped that yet. I think he's just panicking with being this huge and not thinking straight."
"I get what you mean, but we haven't heard anything of someone going rogue. So he's probably find. Maybe he wandered off a bit to clear his head? "
"Yeah, you're right, he wouldn't do something stupid. He knows better." He began to look around some more before turning back to me.
"Man, there really isn't anything else to do around here, is there?"
I nodded.
"I know, It really makes the days go slow. But I have seen some of the other giants head off to the nearby forest. I guess to test their size for some fun. Want to head there?"
It was true, I had seen some head off in that direction as well.
"Sure, why not. They aren't forcing us here, yet at least. So I don't see the harm in it." I shrugged.
Getting to the small woods didn't take as long as I imagined, I guess forgetting to take into account my current size. Most of the trees only had maybe just 10 feet on us at this point though, so it was a bit of a pain to walk inside, branches snapping easily as we passed through as he tried to find a good spot to test our strength.
It occurred to me then that I should have been feeling at least some pain with the branches scraping and poking into us, but strangely enough, I felt nothing. I decided to make a mental note of it and report it to the scientists when we got back.
We finally stopped a bit ways in, Chris grabbing the top end of a tree and trying to uproot it, grunting and growling as he tried to do so. But the tree didn't budge.
"I think its roots are too deeply embedded. You'll give yourself a hernia at this rate." I chuckled. He huffed and shrugged.
"Well, I had to try something. What bout you?"
I looked around, deciding to pick up some pretty big rocks that fit neatly into the palm of my hand, and threw them at a few trees, watching them take off huge chunks of the trunk, or damaging it enough to cause the top part to fall off.
Christ whistled.
"Not bad. Pretty impressive."
"Heh, guess playing high school baseball had its benefits." I smirked, giving a bicep curl.
And that's how most of the day went, us just throwing things at trees, uprooting some of the smaller ones, and seeing which trees we could bend the furthest before getting bored and sitting down, taking a break.
"So, Bryant. Can I get kinda personal with you?" Chris sat down and leaned against a tree.
"Bout what?" I followed suit, resting my arms.
"Look, we're all naked here ya know? So..." He blushed.
"So...what? Are you...?" I perked a brow as he immediately shook his head.
"No no! I'm straight! But I mean, do you think the sex is better at this size? Or, I don't know..." His ears were flushing red.
"I don't know. Probably be the same really since you'd be with a some near the same size as you. " I shrugged.
"Yeah, but...what if in the middle of a city? With everyone pretty much being forced to watch and stuff...?"
"...Chris, are you an exhibitionist?" I crossed my arms. I wasn't really judging, but I figured I'd put on a show.
"No no! Its just...I don't know. Something that popped into my mind. Forget it." He sighed and thunked the back of his head on the tree.
"We should probably head back in case someone is looking for us. We've been gone a few hours at least." I stood and stretched, looking up at the sky to try and get some bearing on the time. Chris nodded, stretching as well and cracking his neck. That's when we heard some voices a come through the trees. Both of us looked at each other in silence and tried our best to stay silent, creeping slowly towards them. Two voices at least, neither I recognized.
We got close enough to hear better, but not enough to see.
"I don't like it. Its too weird. Something is definitely going on." One voice said.
"You think its true then? We're just some experiment gone out of control and their just trying to think of a way to get rid of us?" A second, more gruff one spoke.
"You think just after a few days we start to slow in growth for no reason now? No way. It got too out of control and the public was made away, they need to scale it back. I wouldn't be surprise if some of us started disappearing in the night soon as they pick us off one by one."
"So what do you suggest?" The second scoffed.
"Rebellion. We show them they shouldn't mess with us and crush them under our feet. We got the power now." I heard a tree branch snap and crunch, probably in the first ones hand.
"Bad idea. If we try to act out, the others could turn against us. Face it. Even if it is true, unless we convince them, it's hopeless." The second stated.
I looked at Christ worriedly and nodded my head that we should go, drawing too much a risk of being caught.
We crept away as best as we could, and didn't go into a steady walk until we got out, taking some deep breaths.
"Holy crap. Some of these people ARE losing it!" Christ sputtered, looking worried. "We gotta tell the government."
I was about to agree with him, but thought it over.
"If we did that, it could cause a panic. Chances are normal folk are already wary of us. If news of this somehow got out, it could prove those two's points. Like they said, most of us would turn against them if they acted up, not go with them."
"So what? We just don't tell anyone?" Chris stared in disbelief.
"No! Not yet anyway. Look, if we see more of us starting to act weird, then yeah, we should. But for now, we'll keep it to ourselves until the time is right." I concluded, trying to think it over once more. Yeah, it definitely seemed like the best choice to not cause a panic.
I was going to regret it.
November 5th
The next day I had a lot on my mind. First, I noticed I hadn't grown, or barely grown at all, but there was definitely something different about all of us. It wasn't every day you woke up with the start of a six pack on your stomach and better muscularity. Some of the giants who were already in shape were practically buff at this point. Was what ever growing us moving on to a new stage and going to make us massively buff?
I immediately imagined myself as some kind of hulking abomination with a tiny head between the shoulders, quickly shaking it from my mind. Sure, I didn't mind being in shape, but not THAT big!
The next thing to concern me was yesterday still and the voices Chris and I heard. I was conflicted on if I should tell someone or not. I sighed and reaffirmed my choice. Not now, not yet. If I could somehow find the two and turn them in, then there wouldn't be the need for a panic.
Chris apparently must've been thinking the same thing, since he didn't show up to meet me this morning, or perhaps he cornered Kevin. Either way, I was on my own to try and get to know my other fellow giants better.
The first one I talked to was a yellow lizard named Kyle. He had worked fast food before the growth happened, and didn't mind it the first day. But he was fired on the second day of missed work, despite his condition. I told him I was sorry, and just chit chatted about being giant and some events in our past.
"So, you think we'll ever get back to normal?" He asked towards the end of the conversation.
"I wouldn't doubt it. We've been making a lot of leaps and bounds in technology and medicine lately, so I can see it happening." I had already confirmed Kyle wasn't one of the voices.
"Yeah. When it does, I'll be on a job hunt again." He sighed and rubbed the back of his head.
"Hey! Who wouldn't want to hire a former giant?" I laughed and patted him on the shoulder before heading off.
The next one to talk to actually found me. It was my coworker Mary. The shrew was pretty embarrassed at first since we worked together and now saw each other in the nude. I explained how I kinda got use to it now, so for her to not worry. She even said how the boss came to visit her. I was surprised at that, telling her he visited me too. Apparently the guy was really a softy after all.
I said my goodbyes and walked around some more, meeting up with an elk. It was kinda intimidating at first with such huge horns on a massive fur, stretching up into the sky. It was more surprising how forward he was and friendly. I also couldn't shake the feeling he was eyeing me up the way he was looking at me. The second I talked about my girlfriend though, he seemed to immediately lose interest and went on to one worded answers.
The final one I ended up talking to was the bear from the news station. Even as a fellow giant, he towered over the rest of us, almost two heads higher than me as I had to look up. And with the added muscle under his usual layers of fat, he looked like a tank. I could feel my nose twitching as I talked to him.
"So, Ronald right?" I asked craning my head up.
"Do I know you?" I could tell he sounded like a normally hush person, but with his size, it rumbled in my ears.
"Uh, no. Sorry. I actually saw you on channel 7 news. You're a lot bigger in person." I smiled, trying to break the ice.
"Oh...I asked them to not film, but looks like they didn't care. Great." He sighed, starting to turn away.
"Hey wait! What's wrong?" I stepped in front of him, not wanting to end this too soon.
"Sorry, I'm not really a talker. I like to be left alone, even before I grew. The spotlight isn't for me." He mumbled, trying to walk by me once more.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you or anything. I just want to try and get to know people better hear is all." I was being sincere, which seemed to finally get to him.
"No, it's me. I loved my quiet life. Went to work, then disconnected from society. Now I feel I'm in the spotlight being so big, and apparently the biggest except some roo in Europe as maybe a head over me."
I couldn't help but give a whistle at that. That roo had to be at least near 70 feet tall then.
"Yeah, hopefully more furs will get bigger than me and draw away the attention. I wouldn't be surprised if there were news crews outside of here trying to film me as best as they could."
"Or all of us..." I had never thought of the news crews filming us this whole time. But chances are the government officials were making sure to keep them as far away as possible.
"Look, I didn't mind the chat, but I just wanna go sit for awhile alone, okay?" He started to walk away once more, and I decided to let him go.
"Yeah, it was nice talking to you Ronald." I called after, slumping my shoulders. I felt bad for the guy really. He was really out of his usual environment.
I decided to search for Chris at this point, seeing my search was being fruitless. Hopefully he had some better news. No one I spoke to or listened in on sounded like the two furs in the woods.
I was near the edge of the encampment when I noticed there was a significant increase in military force outside the the makeshift boundaries. More soldiers and black trucks were definitely populating the area than when we first got here. I decided to head towards the front where the mobile labs were to ask for some information.
I stopped when I got close enough for a soldier to hold up his hand for me to stop. I squatted down, just asking what the increase of force was for.
"Don't worry bout it. We just had a few normal people trying to sneak in at night. Some believing your condition is contagious and trying to catch it themselves. Its more for their safety than yours." The german shepard answered.
Well, that did make sense. If anyone was trying to sneak in, and we didn't pay enough attention, there could be a fatality on our hands.
I thanked the soldier and went back towards the others. Actually spotting Chris talking to Kevin. I headed towards them, but once Kevin saw me, he forced his finger into the puma's chest and stormed off.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"He doesn't like you. Not sure why. And he was spouting more nonsense bout the government again." Chris rolled his eyes and sighed.
"What caused it this time?"
"The extra vehicles and troops around."
"Ah, I actually spoke with a soldier, apparently some of the normal furs are trying to sneak in because they think our condition is contagious." I explained what the soldier said to me.
"Ah, makes sense. Wouldn't be surprised if its a dare, or the news trying to get in." A bit of relief seemed to go over his face.
"I also got to talk to that massive bear, Ronald. Man, he can be really intimidating when you are close to him, but apparently he hates the attention he's getting." I shrugged as we started to walk.
"Really? I don't mind it, probably the most we'd get in our lifetimes." Chris shrugged.
"Some people just don't want it. I feel bad for him." We sat down mostly away from the denser part of the group.
"So, did you hear anyone sound like yesterday?" He whispered to me, making sure no one heard.
"No sadly. No one seems to match. Could they have been trying to disguise their voices last night, just in case?" I pondered out loud.
"I don't think anyone would think that far ahead. But maybe? I don't know." He fell back onto his back, looking up at the sky. "They need to give us more things to do."
"They could give us a truck and we play a messed up version of spin the bottle." I laughed. Chris snorted.
"Don't give anyone else here that idea. They just might!"
We both laughed again as I laid back as well, just trying to relax. Maybe it was just me being hopeful, or maybe my actual instincts were kicking in, but I felt tomorrow something big was going to happen.
November 6th
I woke up to people talking around me, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, expecting to have started growing again. I could tell I had, maybe at least a foot, comparing an old foot print of mine from yesterday to today, but I was more amazed at my body. I looked like I had been working out my whole life. I couldn't believe it as I felt up my six pack. I was quickly pulled away as two other giants got into a more heated discussion above me. "Something isn't right! Look! They got tanks now!" A wolf growled, pointing over in a direction. That made me immediately stand up and look, seeing indeed tanks were more or less just outside the city now, still a bit ways away from us, but still, why were they here? "Did anyone ask why?" I asked immediately. "Nobody is talking to us, its all creepy." The other fur, a Raccoon said. I pushed past them, trying to find Chris, even shouting his name a few times. Finally, a hand was placed on my shoulder and I spun around, face to face with the puma. And holy hell was he buff, bigger than me! "Hey man, what's up?" He looked concerned as well. "Do you know what's going on?" I asked after getting over my initial shock. "Notta. Scientists are staying locked up in their trailers. Military people tell us to not worry about it and everything is okay. They won't even let people in to visit." He slumped his shoulders, "My mom was going to check up on me. She flew all the way out here." The hairs on the back of my head were standing up. Alarms were going off inside my brain that something had to have happened. Did they make a breakthrough in the research and discover something that could be dangerous with us? Did some incident happen to cause an increase in security? "Have you noticed anyone missing from the camp?" "Not that I know of. Some furs first thought Ronald did something. But he was sleeping when they rolled in. And man, if you thought he was big before, he's built like a fucken tank now!" He exclaimed. Could that be the call for tanks? Seeing us getting beefed up and even more dangerous. "We need outside information." I said in a hushed tone, making sure no one could hear. "But who? No one will let us into the city, and no visitors." Chris looked puzzled. "I'm gonna try to sneak out. My girlfriend lives on the outskirts of town, just outside the suburbs. If I can get to her, she can fill me in." "What kind of distraction?" He asked. "I don't know, start a fight? A chant? Something." I hissed as another giant walked by. He shrugged and thought for a bit before heading off into the group, starting to chant "We wanna know! We wanna know!" Surprisingly enough, it actually started to work, with the group moving towards the front of the camp, drawing more military personnel immediately towards them. Looking around quickly and see the coast was clear, I took off and heading towards the town.
It took me shorter than expected, I really needed to take my size into account for travel. I slowed my pace to try and not cause to much attention, seeing Samantha's house with her car in the driveway. I wasn't sure how to do this, so I simply strolled up to the house, letting my footfalls announce my arrival. Bending down I could already see her looking out her window, looking panicked, with her parent's behind her. Seeing it was me, she ran out. "Bryant! What are you doing here?" She both scolded and yelled so I could hear. "Something weird is going on Sam! They called in tanks and surrounded the city! They won't let anyone in to visit and they aren't saying anything!" I kept my voice low, but urgent. "You need to go back right now! You'll only make it worse!" She actually pushed against my foot for emphasis. "Sam! Come on! What happened?" I asked, starting to really get worried now. "Some giants a few miles from here for some reason just started to rampage and attack the military and city, destroying nearly half of it! Its all over the news! If anyone sees you, they'll either think you're part of it and got too far away, or its starting here!" Suddenly the voices in the woods came haunting back to me. This was only going to fuel their cause. Then my eyes opened wide in horror. Chris's chant was only going to add fuel to the fire. "Oh shit! I need to get back now before something happens!" I got up and heel turned, a deep hole in their yard and knocking over their small tree. "Sorry!" I called back and tore off.
I knew there would be reports of a large brown bunny running amok on the outskirts of the city, but I didn't care. The chant was still going on, louder than ever as I slipped into the group once more, finding Chris, still shouting. "Chris! We gotta stop this!" "What?" He yelled back. "Stop the chant! I found out! It was a bad idea!" I shouted back, trying to find some way to get everyone's attention. Chris tried to yell for furs to stop, but no one listened. "Chris! Put me on your shoulders! Maybe I can get everyone's attention!" He nodded, getting down on a knee as I climbed onto his shoulders, luckily his new body lifting me up with most ease as I waved to get everyone's attention, shouting, but it still wasn't working. That's when a helicopter with a large speaker flew towards us, a voice blaring out over us. "Citizens! Please! We know you are worried but you don't need to be! This is merely a defensive matter that doesn't concern you!" "The hell it doesn't!" A voice shouted. My eyes went wide, searching for its owner. It sounded just like one of the voices in the woods. "He's right! Its not us! Another group close to here went rogue and attacked the people! They are merely defending the city!" I shouted. The voice over the speaker was quiet at first, before speaking. "How did you learn about that?" It finally asked. My ears drooped. "I snuck out to ask a friend." I finally admitted. "That was very stupid of you! But its true, there was an incident and an attack. We are putting our trust in you to not act the same way as we prepare in case those giants come this way. Please understand." The voice pleaded. The other giants murmured amongst themselves before dispersing as best as they could in the area. Chris kneeled back down so I could get down, the copter flying towards us. "Come to the edge of the encampment please." The voice said. We both looked at each other as it flew away, following, knowing we were in trouble. As the helicopter landed, we knelt to hear better and talk, a very well decorated lion in military brass stepped out, glaring up at us. "Inciting a riot and sneaking off! Like I don't have enough problems on my hands! What the hell were you two thinking?" "I'm sorry sir. Its my fault. We just wanted to know what was going on." I responded. "We're trying to keep everyone calm as best as we can. Your little incident here probably caused half the city to panic with that stunt!" He fumed, glaring up, not intimated at all at the size difference. "I'm sorry sir, but if your troops had told us first what was going on, there wouldn't have been a need to." I shot back, feeling my ears flush in anger. "We were preparing a document to explain things more clearly, for both you and the citizens. We have to choose our words carefully to not cause a similar incident." He huffed up. I sighed and drooped my head. "Again, I apologize sir. But..." I felt this had to be the best time to tell it now, there was no other choice, "My friend and I here overheard two other giants already thinking you are up to something to get rid of us. This whole thing of keeping us in the dark might have just been the push they needed to rebel." I sighed. The lion clenched his jaw so hard I thought he was going to shatter his teeth. "Fucken wonderful." He turned sharply, starting to march away. Chris glared at me. "Dude..." He whispered. There was a pit in my stomach, knowing I may have just made it even worse for us.
November 7th
My eyes snapped open to alarms going off, they were pretty faint, but I could definitely hear the high pitch noise. I sat up, looking around for what was going on, and I wasn't the only one. A lot of the other giants were puzzled as well, seeing the tanks mobilizing and heading off to the east.
"What's going on?" I asked a wolf near me.
"No idea. Just an alarm and suddenly the military was rolling out." He looked just as confused as I did. Next thing I knew, Chris was beside me along with Mary. I finally took notice that nothing else had changed over the two, and I assumed me as well other than a foot added to my height.
"You two know anything?" I asked, feeling panicked.
"Yeah, I over heard a military fur talking, its those giants from yesterday, they're on their way here." He began to look towards the east, trying to see if they were visible yet.
"Shit. Why now?" I groaned.
"What? What's wrong?" Mary asked, looking afraid.
"Chris, yesterday, I heard one of the voices in the crowd from the woods. I wanted to look for him." I rubbed my head.
"We'll have to worry bout that later, right now no one knows what to do with the other giants coming. Some are thinking of fighting them." Chris looked back at some of the furs in the group.
The thought of fighting at this size was kinda frightening. Massive devastation could happen if someone went down. And if anyone died...
No no! Don't think of that! No killing! I took some deep breathes, trying to calm myself.
"We'll fight defensively if we have to, and try to keep it away from the city." I explained to the two. "They could just be passing by though, hopefully the military won't draw their attention.
And like that I could immediately hear the sound of a cannon firing, causing me to wince. Next to follow was a scream of pain from probably one of the giants. We both looked and could easily see them now heading towards us, now running. Their feet left craters in the ground, as some growled and others howled.
Chris looked at me panicked, expecting me for some reason to give a command. But I was frozen at the site. I didn't know what to do. I wasn't a fighter! I just sat in a cubicle and did reports! Again I could feel my nose twitching in panic feeling the flight mechanism kicking in. But before I could, Chris snarled and charged forward, others shocked at first but quickly feeling their own courage kick in, following with roars and howls of their own.
"Bryant!" Mary screamed in my ear, snapping me out of my shock as I looked at her.
"Mary, stay here. If anything goes wrong. Please try to save anyone you can and get out of here." I gulped, clenching my own fists and taking off after the rest of them.
The tanks were in full retreat as the giants forced their way forward. At least 30 of them trying to break through the line. Some of them were wounding by the tank shells, but bullets from the infantry seemed to have no effect.
Their progress came to a near halt as they saw our group charge at them, trying to miss the tanks and soldiers as best as well could.
It could only be described as a full on brawl, but between giants. The ground beneath our feet was being completely reshaped as we grappled and kicked, trying to knock the other down. Homes were crushed under our feet and bodies, apparently abandoned from yesterday.
I landed a punch square in the jaw of some weasel, causing him to stumble back a bit and lower his head, charging and slamming into my stomach. It was weird when he hit. I felt the air get knocked out of me, but I felt no pain at all. I mean, I felt something, but it didn't hurt is all.
He tried to sit on me but I didn't give him the chance, rolling to get out of the way, only for him to repeatedly kick me in the back and stomach as I tried to get up. Again, I felt nothing from each blow, but I knew there had to be some kind of damage done.
He put me in a headlock next, trying to choke while punching me in the face. I quickly began to claw at his arm, trying to pull it away even while blow after blow hit me. I could feel my eyes getting heavier from the lack of oxygen in me before someone grabbed the weasel by the side of the head and yanked him off.
I collapsed to my knees and gasped for breath, looking up to see my savior was that elk who was hitting on me before, except one of his antlers was broken off.
"You okay bun?" He held out a hand to help me up, but the weasel jumped on his back now, trying to choke hold him. I got up as quickly as I could and grabbed the weasel by the neck this time, trying to do one of those sleeper holds I saw on wrestling when I was young.
He immediately stopped trying to choke the elk and claws at my forearm, but slowly his eyes rolled back, and he passed out, collapsing to the ground.
Another tank fire, the bullet whizzing by my face and striking a deer in the upper arm. I watched as it exploded, the female deer crying out in pain and gripping the area as blood poured out. Immediately she turned and began to run from the fight as fast as she could. In fact, a lot of them were in retreat already. My assumption was they were figuring it was only the military they were going to fight, and not other giants.
We all gave victory cheers as they fled, leaving the wounded or unconscious behind. I phewed and fell on my rump, wiping my nose and noticing some blood. Again, I didn't feel the pain, but apparently we could still be hurt. And I definitely felt exhausted.
"You okay bun?" The elk asked, holding out his hand again.
"Yeah, thanks." I took it, standing up. There was a lot of patting going on at the other nearby. In the middle of it I saw Chris, blushing red from the attention, his one eye was black. I didn't even feel jealously towards him. He deserved it after all, leading the charge.
I made my way back to the encampment, seeing a good portion of the furs from our group had stayed behind, even Ronald. I felt a bit of anger towards him. With his size and strength, the fight wouldn't have lasted a second. But instead, he stayed back.
"Bryant! You're hurt!" Mary came running forward, looking over me.
"I'm fine. But I really hate that weasel now." I rubbed the back of my head, trying to shake it off. That was also probably my first ever real fight in my life.
Looking up, most of the giants seemed relieved as well, but I noticed a few who were glaring, almost as if disappointed in the result. I tried to make note of their faces as the rest of the group gathered around, cheering of their victory and the fight. I could still see Chris was the center of attention, and decided to leave him be and thank him when he had more time on his hand.
For now though, I just wanted to lay back on the grass and let my injuries heal.
The fight was won.
But the war was just beginning.
November 8th
I woke up the next day to a buzzer going off. Immediately I thought I was back in my room and the whole thing was a dream. Snapping my eyes open, I saw a blue sky above me.
Nope. Not a dream.
As I got up, I noticed I had grown once again, this time more noticeably. Looking around, most of the others did too, but this was the first time I saw some furs didn't seem to have changed at all. What was different? Why didn't they grow?
My first thought was only the ones that fought grew, but even Nicolas still towered above us all. So that wasn't true. Based on species? Predator or prey? But none of it was making sense. Whatever was causing all of this was just chaotic and made no sense!
Again the alarm went off, and I could see it was coming from the helicopter once more.
"Would everyone please come to the front of the encampment for an announcement?" It spoke, repeating a few times to make sure the message was heard. Chris and I found each other and wanted to talk, but loudspeakers had apparently been set up over night, and the general's voice could be heard.
"Attention everyone! First, I'd like to thank you for coming to our defense yesterday during the attack of rogue giants."
Some whoops and cheers went out.
"Second, as some of you noticed, you began growing again, some of you at least. This new revelation has only complicated our efforts in figuring out what is exactly going on. We have checked your blood, DNA, and checked every resource and reference we could find. We also tried to recreate the effect on plants. But still no effect. Although usually this is kept quiet, I feel with your deeds yesterday, you deserved to know this."
The mood in the group fell somewhat.
"But we are working with scientists around the world on this, and hope to have a solution soon. In the mean time, since most of you seem to be growing again, the scientists are going to go back to the laboratory and continue their work there. We are also looking to find a better location for you to stay at until we find a cure."
There was a bit of a murmur going on, but that was the end of the speech. The next surprise was apparently they were able to create some simple board games for us to play, Mostly tic tac toe and checkers, with letters carved on the back to replicate chess pieces. They must've been huge to the normal furs, but to us, they looked like regular playing pieces.
I wasn't interested in them at the moment, and walked off with Chris to talk.
"Hey, sorry for not talking to you yesterday, you seemed pretty busy." Crud, I sounded too jealous in that. I didn't mean to, but I did. He quirked a brow.
"Its not my fault. I don't know why they thought I was a hero." He glared.
"Sorry, sorry. That came out wrong." I took a deep breath. Maybe I was a bit jealous, I had the chance to shine and blew it.
"I'm glad you did it. I know you were looking to me at first, but I couldn't. I froze. But you, you were pretty brave, and it led the rest. Good job." I held out my hand. He blushed and shook it.
"Well, I was scared too. But I just reacted and didn't realize what I was doing till I did it." He blushed and rubbed the back of his head. "So, do you think they'll be back?"
I looked out where the battle happened, how torn up the landscape was. And how if we grew, they did too.
"Yeah. And it'll be worse next time. I just wish I knew what their motive was." I sighed, tapping a foot.
"You'll think they'll let visitors in again? I really do want to see my mom." Chris sighed, his tail drooping a bit as he looked out towards the city.
"I'm sure if you asked and explain it they will. I mean, you were the cause of saving their butts." I pointed out.
"True. I'll head over right now. Hopefully they can find her." He quickly started heading back to the front of the camp. Meanwhile, I decided to look around once more to try and find the owner of that voice.
I talked with the wolf I met yesterday, but he hadn't heard anything weird going on, except some still having the conspiracy theory that the government is still all behind this. I asked him to point out who they were. He didn't know names, but once he said a fox, I figured that had to be Kevin. But his voice definitely wasn't one of the two.
I gave my thanks and looked around for my suspects. One was a crocodile. He stood slightly taller than me, and definitely had the muscle to go toe to toe with someone in fight. I didn't talk to him directly, but I hovered around him to hear some of the stuff he was saying to a few others. His voice didn't match, but he was definitely talking about how this relocation was really just a move to their secret base so they could eradicate us.
Hearing enough, I moved on to my next target, a striped Hyena. I had a head over him in height, and we pretty much matched in body type. His voice also didn't match, but he was talking to another giant I had never seen before, a white wolf with one blue and one amber eye. Had I never noticed him before? Was he knew?
His eyes darted over to me, seeing me staring. Realizing my mistake, I quickly started to move on, but was too late, there was a hand on my shoulder.
"Where are you going?" He barked, forcing me to turn around.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to stare. I just never seen a wolf with two different colored eyes before." I quickly fibbed.
"What? You think I'm some kind of freak?" He shoved me hard in the chest, causing me to stumble back before catching my footing.
"No! Ease up! I said I was sorry!" I tried to deescalate the situation quickly. The wolf seemed satisfied for now.
"Turn tail and get out of her bunny. I don't give second chances." He growled. I quickly turned and started to head away. The wolf was bigger than me, and I didn't want to start a fight where I was going to be outnumbered.
"Nice one boss." A voice tried to whisper lowly.
I almost stopped in my tracks as the voice spoke. That was it again. The same voice!
"He's one of the ones that fought yesterday, best to keep an eye on him." Another spoke low as well.
The second voice!
I wanted to turn and see who they were. I didn't notice anyone else around since I was doing a quick pass by, but they were right there! If I turned around, I could see them and know! But I could feel the wolf's eyes on my back, waiting for the second I turned my head to jump me.
Instead, I quickly made my way off to the side, not heading directly towards the front of the camp to draw attention, but instead to just wait for Chris.
It took a bit, I assumed he finally got to talk to his mom, but Chris did come back to our usual spot and sat down with me.
I began to tell him everything about the strange white wolf and hearing both voices this time.
"Dude, you gotta go tell them!" He whispered urgently. I quickly put a paw on his mouth, noticing out of the corner of my eye a raven watching us a bit before moving on.
"I don't think I can. And probably you can't either. We're being watched." I said as low as I could. I could see fear in his eyes.
"How many do you think?"
"I don't know, but we're gonna have to plan something to get the military's attention and warn them." I looked around again, not sure who I could trust.
"Do you think, some of the rogue giants invaded our camp?" He leaned in closer to talk lower.
"I think so. I don't remember that white wolf at all. I think he was probably from there, or another group, or something. Either way, this isn't good." I thought I saw a red wolf looking at us, but he kept walking.
"Okay, tomorrow morning, we try to wake up before anyone else and warn them." Chris suggested. I nodded in agreement.
We weren't safe here anymore.
November 9th
I snapped my eyes open the second I felt the sun on my face. Slowly I rose up, noticing we were closing together than when we slept last night. Yep, the growth was acting up again.
I looked around, seeing if Chris was up yet, but no one else was standing. Figuring he'd wake up soon enough, I made my way as quietly as a nearly 70 foot rabbit could to the front of the camp, stepping over everyone else sleeping. There were just two guards positioned at the gate, one being a doberman giving a large yawn. Beyond him, tied up with what looked like suspension bridge cables, were come of the captives from the last fight. The doberman's eyes went wide as he saw me coming, elbowing his buddy, a squirrel.
I ignored the size difference, them barely able to see over my toes at this point as I knelt down.
"Hold up big guy, where-" the doberman started to speak, but I cut him off.
"Listen! You need to radio the general! I think there-"
In the distance I could hear thunderous footsteps approaching. Looking back and turning and ear, it was coming from the woods.
"Oh no..." I whispered. The doberman quickly pulled his walkie talkie to his mouth.
"This is a red alert! Red alert!" He barked into it, grabbing his gun and pulling an alarm. Most of the giants began to sit up, wondering what the alarm was, looking confused.
"Get up everyone! The rebel giants are coming!" I shouted, trying to get everyone's attention. The first to hop to their feet were the ones that fought last time, the others starting to look panicked and stand slower in response. I knew what they were feeling. It was the fight or flight mode.
I could only watch as the trees before us seemed to exploded forward as the group plowed their way through, led by the white wolf.
"I knew it!" I charged forward this time, not waiting to hesitate. Even though I was in the back, I was soon surrounded by others as we went to defend our city.
The two sides clashed immediately, some giants immediately going down to the ground, and most likely trampled on as more pushed in from both sides. Like us, they too had grown since we last fought, but the size difference wasn't much.
I dodged a fist as it came careening for my face. The rat gulped as I grabbed his arm before he could pull it back, pulling him in as I headbutted him in the snout, causing blood to pour out. He didn't seem phased though, and slugged me with his other fist, making me lose my grip. I went to throw my own, but someone quickly grabbed me from behind, holding back my arms.
"What the-?" I turned my head to see it was someone from our own group, another rat.
"Get him!" He shouted, his new comrade cracking his knuckles and starting to repeatedly hit me in the gut and face.
"You bastards! You're turning on us!" I gasped out, feeling blood drip from my nose and mouth.
"You don't get it do you? We've been given a gift and are going to use it! We're going to be the rulers of this puny world!" The completely brown rat behind me snarled in my ear.
"The military thought they could turn us into weapons. Too bad they didn't count on us figuring it out!" The black and white rat in front of me emphasized his point by driving his fist into my abs, knocking the air out of me. I could see off to the side the tide of the battle starting to turn with the betrayal, feeling my head spinning as I couldn't stand anymore, going limp in my captor's arms. He let me fall, both standing over me with feet raised, ready to finish me off.
But in that last moment, two mighty thick brown paws came out and grabbed them buff by the scruff, lifting them up and slamming them together before throwing them lag rag dolls. I tried to clear my vision before seeing the same thick paw picking me up.
"You okay Bryant?" Ronald rumbled, setting me on my feet. I couldn't believe it at first.
"Thanks man." I huffed, starting to stagger off, trying to continue the fight.
"Where are you going?" He put a hand on my chest.
"I gotta help everyone!" I grunted, but didn't have the strength to get away.
"The military already called a retreat and is evacuating the city as we speak. Fall back and get ready to get out of here." He pushed be back towards the front of the camp, where there wasn't as much fighting going on.
"But the others..."
"Go! I can hold them off for a bit here by myself. So don't worry." He glared and snorted. I had a feeling if I refused any more I'd be flung just like the two rats. I nodded and started to run as best as I could away, clutching my gut. I could actually feel pain for once, and I didn't miss it one bit.
I knew exactly where I needed to go, heading immediately for Samantha's house. Even though it would be on the news, it was still too dangerous to get out in time, and moving vehicles would be easy targets to be stepped on, especially with the roads most likely jammed by now.
"Bryant!"
I turned to see Chris, Mary, and a raccoon running towards me.
"Guys, I don't have time. I gotta get Sam out of here!" I panted, turning and trying to run again.
"I know! I need to go find my mom first though! She's in the city!" Chris begged. I knew he was going to ask me for help, but could I? Did I even have time?
"Do you know where she is?" I huffed, looking towards the city.
"She told me the Motel 8 on the other side." Chris pointed to the far side of the city, it would be off from my destination.
"I need to find Mr. Baskowits. He's probably still at the office evacuating the employees." Mary quickly chimed in. I looked towards the raccoon next.
"I got no one. I moved to this city just last week for a job." He held up his hands defensively. I bit my lower lip, trying to think quickly.
"Okay, whoever you are, go with Mary. You aren't as big as Christ and I, so if you run into trouble, you should have an advantage. Chris, go get your mom. I'll get Sam and her family. Meet up at North Blue lake. That's far enough away from the city. If you aren't there by noon, we're assuming you got caught."
"My name's Jeff by the way." The coon huffed before he followed Mary and Chris. I turned and started to run full sprint towards Mary's house, already starting to feel better. Could I recover faster too? Another question for another time.
I got to Sam's neighborhood just in time to see some skunk stomping his foot through the roofs of some homes.
"Come out little bugs! I wanna play!" He laughed, knocking over walls in his rampage. Stepping on any cars on the street. I don't know how he got by the others, but I kicked it into a full sprint as he started to get closer to Sam's house.
I could barely hear gun shots going off as it seemed someone from one of the houses was trying to do some damage to the skunk, but it only drew his attention.
"Oh? What's this? Some brave little ant? How cute..." He grinned and loomed his foot over slowly, starting to press down.
"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" I screamed, leaping forward and ramming my fist into his jaw as hard as I could, actually feeling the bone crack as he went flying across the earth. I didn't let up, charging forward and driving my foot into his gut repeatedly until I knew he wouldn't get back up.
The fur with the gun, looked up in shock at what just happened.
"Where's your family?" I asked, lowering my hand. He only stared at it before screaming and taking off.
"Wait! I'm one of the good ones!" I called after him. But it was no use. Giving up, I resumed making it to Samantha's house, making sure to try and not step on anyone or any vehicles. I arrived just in time as they were loading up their SUV, ready to take off.
"Dad!" Samantha grabbed his shirt and pointed at me. He slammed his back against the car at first, before recognizing it was me.
"Sam! Thank god you're okay!" I bent down, trying to look less threatening.
"You look awful! What happened?" She asked, looking concern.
"Some of our own turned and joined those giants from before. I came to get you out of here." I quickly explained.
"And how are you going to do that?" Her father piped up. I grinned.
"Get in the car."
I huffed as I made my way across the field, making sure to not squeeze the vehicle too hard in my hands as I ran. I apologized for the bumpy ride, but it was the best I could do given we had to get as far away as we could before getting spotted.
Upon reaching the lake, I saw I was the second to arrive, Chris was already there, waiting as he talked to someone in his palm. I could only assume it was his mother.
Hearing me coming, he quickly put his other hand in front of her for protection, but calmed down once he saw it was me.
"Good. Were you followed?" He asked, looking behind me.
"Not that I know of. I took the long way around so I wouldn't be. And uh, hello Chris's mom." I waved down to her, setting the SUV down. The Herrington family immediately got out, not looking to well from the ride.
"Any sign of Mary and the raccoon?" Chris asked. I shook my head.
"I don't want to leave her behind. But we can't stay here forever. So we can only give them a few hours, unless we get spotted." I huffed, sitting down carefully to finally relax. We talked for a bit, trying to explain to the smaller folk what was going on, and how it happened. It was almost as if all the color in their fur disappeared as I went on.
Noon drew close, but finally we heard footsteps and looked up, seeing Mary running towards us, followed by Jeff, and-
"Ronald!" Chris exclaimed, the massive bear was limping, hold a badly bleeding arm.
"He was fighting in the city, trying to help people escape. We helped how we could." Mary huffed. I could see some of her fur was missing.
"I told you all to run." Ronald, growled, stumbling a bit. Jeff tried to steady him, but his legs shook trying to hold up the massive bear. Sam's mother looked like she was about to pass out seeing his size.
"Did you find Mr. Baskowits?" I saw she wasn't holding anyone. Mary began to blush.
"Well, we were trying to get here as fast as we could, and Ronald is pretty big, so we had to use both hands to hold him up so..." She looked down at her breasts, where I could see a clearly embarrassed badger, clinging to the fur.
"What a perv." I chuckled. The badger giving me a glare.
"She did it even while I protested! Don't get the wrong idea Mr. Loyft!" He screamed up at me.
"They can all ride in the SUV. We'll carry them and head to the next city, hopefully we can get some help there and warn them of what's going on." The rest all nodded with me. And with that, we were off, trying to figure out what to do next.
November 10th
We had camped outside of the nearest city, letting the normal size folk drive to the city to spend the night, and to let the police and military know what happened.
Waking u the next morning, I felt sore all over, but no pain. I felt my face, expecting it to be tender, but nothing. I stood up, and instantly swayed on my feet. Something was definitely off, and I could tell it was because the distance from the ground was a lot further than it was last night. Just how much had I grown?!
There wasn't really anything around to measure myself, so I had no idea. It was then I noticed some cars heading our way. I gently nudged everyone awake, being gentle with Ronald since I knew he was hurt. When I did though, I was shocked to see most of his wounds were already healed.
"Amazing..." I said in aw. He peered at me.
"What is?" He used his once injured arm to get up, noticing he was using it.
"Oh..." He rumbled, flexing his fingers, turning it around to see. "So, we can heal fast too. Great." He sighed, sitting up. I sat near the road, along with others as the cars approached, further behind were some more tanks. Apparently every city was being guarded at this point.
The cars pulled off to the side near opposite of us, with a few furs and Samantha stepping out. An otter produced a megaphone to talk to us.
"Hello! My name is lieutenant Davis. Your friend here tells us you came from Hanolver. And that it was attacked by the rogue giants we heard about, and you tried to defend it. We have been taking in refugees from there as well, telling us how some of their giants did try to hold them back. If you are willing to defend out city if it comes under attack, we'll gladly allow you to stay here."
I lowered by head towards him, keeping my voice low.
"Thank you sir. And yes, we would gladly defend your city if it comes to that."
I saw Jeff give me a look, like he was about to say something, but closed his mouth when Mary elbowed him.
"Okay then. If you would please follow me, we'll lead you to an encampment we set up for our own giants. And please try to tread carefully so you don't shake us off the road." The lieutenant put down the megaphone and proceeded to get into his car. But before taking off, Sam waved me down closer.
I can't say it was weird having to get down on my hands just to see her, and being so small now. I was already starting to miss those nights we just laid together on the couch, watching TV, or those passionate moments in bed. In a way, we were starting to live in two different worlds now, and it was starting to hurt.
"I just wanted to say thank you for coming for us. We might not have escaped if you hadn't." She said as loudly as she could, hugging my short muzzle and giving it a kiss. I didn't know what to say, what to do. I wanted to hug her, to just be with her once again. Its like a wall I had been building up living in that camp came crashing down and I realized I was lonely. I wanted to be with her, but I couldn't. If I even tried to hug her with a finger to my cheek, if I didn't control my strength, she would break instantly.
And I finally came to realize more of the what ifs. I had been so focused and believing the cure would be found, I had thrown aside the what ifs like some kind of fool. What if no cure is found? What if I never stop growing? What if I am killed by one of these rogue giants?
I choked back the tears, not wanting her to worry, and simply whispered, "I love you Sam." Before getting back up. I made no motion to rub my nose or eyes right away, not wanting anyone to notice. She waited a few more seconds before getting into the car as well, the vehicle driving off with us behind it.
It was a grueling task following such a "slow" moving vehicle. We basically took very slow steps, as gently as we could to not shake the ground as it went along roads going outside the city.
"How are you holding up?" I was a bit shocked as Ronald spoke up, the massive bear looking down at me. I had only ever talked to him once more at the old camp, and it didn't go well then.
"I'm fine, why?" I put forward a fake smile.
"So, did you break up with her?" He rumbled, watching me from the corner of his eye as he took a step.
"What? Sam? No! Course not! She just thanked me is all." I quickly focused straight ahead.
"Look, you don't need her okay? If she leaves you, she leaves you. Just means she was a tramp after all."
I'm not sure what came over me, but I immediately stopped and shoved him as hard as I could. Unfortunately, that felt like shoving a brick wall, and I barely got anywhere. I didn't care. I was starting to see red.
"Don't you dare call her that." I growled up, my hands balling into fists. The others behind us immediately stopped, looking scared.
"Take it from me bunny, its not worth it." Ronald glared down. I didn't know if he meant picking a fight or about Sam. I wanted to so badly sock him right in the jaw, even though I know he would do far worse to me.
But then I knew if we did fight, we would all be turned away from here, or maybe even attacked by the military. Not to mention, how much damage could we do at this size.
Instead, I let it go, moving away from the bear and walking back a bit more, letting him be in the front by himself. At least now I could try to guesstimate our sizes as we walked by some buildings. Judging by the average a house was tall, and trying to imagine stacking them up to match me, I figured I had to be near or around 90 feet. That would put the others near my size, except for Ronald, who had to be over a hundred by now. Mary was the shortest of us, so I figured she was around the high 70s, low 80s. If anything, it only made me feel even worse at how large we had become.
Arriving at the camp, we were greeting by a small group, maybe at least 15 giants. And that's when we noticed that was all of them. I guess this city didn't get hit as hard with this growth virus or whatever it was as hard as we did.
"Hello and welcome to our group. My name is Shawn. Nice to meet you." A rather buff kangaroo shook my hand. He was actually pretty close to Ronald's built, but just slightly taller than me.
"Thanks. I'm Bryant. This is Ronald, Chris, Mary, and Jeff." I introduced each one of our group.
"Nice to meet you all. And sorry about your old city, the Lieutenant filled us in before leaving to go get you. Don't worry, They got eyes on those giants now. So if they decide to head this way, we'll be more prepared." He boasted.
"Good. Because they converted some in our group to join their cause. Let's hope their the only ones." I mumbled and pushed around the rest of them, not really wanting to deal with anyone at the moment. They were pretty shocked about it, but I didn't care. I could hear Chris apologizing and explaining our circumstances as I moved on to just sit alone.
I stayed there the rest of the day, dozing off everyone once and awhile. At one point, as I stared up at the darkening sky, a figure blocked my view.
"What do you want?" I glared up angrily as Ronald sat down.
"I came to apologize." He rumbled, letting out a sigh. I didn't answer.
"Look, I had a girlfriend once. And then I found out she had been lying to me for years about liking the same stuff I did, and posting on line how annoyed and disgusted she was I liked them. I don't know why she did it, maybe as a laugh or a joke, but I broke up with her and ended it without hearing an explanation." His broad shoulders dropped. I let my anger finally slip away as I sat up.
"So you were just trying to make me feel better?" I assumed.
"Sorry, I'm not good at it. Like I said before, I just cut off communication with everyone eventually. No more annoyances, no more worrying what others think. If I kept low, no one would bother me." He started to rant. "And then THIS happens!" He growled and slammed his fist into the dirt, leaving a large hole and some of the other giants to look over to see what was going on.
"I get it. And thanks for the apology. But Sam and I love each other. I'm hoping we do get back to normal and lead normal lives again, but if we keep going then I'm okay with..." I trailed off at the end, not even realizing what I was saying till I said it. Was I okay with it? Could I deal with it? Would I really be okay telling Mary to just find someone else?
Ronald lifting an eyebrow, waiting.
"Never mind. It doesn't matter. What does matter is we are in this together now. Being a loner won't work right now. We need to work together. Okay?" I held out my hand towards him. He looked down at it, probably having conflicting motions of his own he was fighting against, before shaking my hand.
"Okay."
November 11th
"Bryant, wake up." A voice spoke over me, shaking me awake. I slowly opened my one eye since I was on my side. It wasn't urgent so I assumed the rogue giants were coming. Christ was over me, looking concerned.
"What's wrong?" I asked, yawning and sitting up, rubbing an eye.
"Well, if you hadn't guessed, we grew again, of course. Except...not all of us."
My eyes snapped opened.
"What do you mean 'not all of us'?" I stood, still not over the feeling of vertigo as I stretched up higher than ever before. He led me over to the rest of the group we had joined up with. Indeed, some of the giants didn't seem to have grown at all over night. The only person in our group who hadn't grown was Mary. She barely came up to my chest.
"Maybe it was a few inches like before?" I asked her, looking down. She shook her head.
"No, I found one of my footprints and measured. Same size. Maybe it looks like I finally stopped." She smiled, but it didn't seem like a purely happy smile.
"Isn't that good?" I asked.
"Well, I am glad I finally stopped. But if those other giants come and are bigger, then I'll be useless to fight..." She looked down at the ground, disappointed.
"Don't think of this as a bad thing Mary. Not at all. If anything it can help further the research to stop this. Whatever what was growing you is either out of your system, or you somehow fought it off. This is good. It means we can be one step closer to a cure." I put a hand on her shoulder to reassure her.
"Yeah, you're right. I'll go tell one of the soldiers to get a scientist to see what they need. Thanks Bryant." She hugged around my waist before walking off.
"What if it was like a few days ago?" Chris stepped beside me, watching her go.
"I hope not. I really want this to end." I sighed, going to go back to my sitting spot.
"Something wrong?" Chris followed beside.
"I don't think I can keep doing this Chris. This constant growing? It's starting to get to me." I stopped and sat down where I slept, bringing my knees to my chest, watching the city in the distance. "If this keeps up, in a week I could be covering that whole place with a foot, ya know?"
The puma looked out as well at it, his tail twitching.
"You don't think it'll go that far, do you?"
I wasn't sure how to take how he said that question. I could hear the mix of anticipation, and worry.
"Chris, how do you really feel about growing now." I looked straight into his eyes. I wanted the truth. He fidgeted in place a bit.
"Look. I admit I want to experience okay? I just want to know what its like. Curiosity. But I don't want to stay that way forever okay? It's too scary." He let out a long sigh. "Happy?"
"No, I get it. But-"
"Hey guys, whats going on?" Two large tan furred hands clasped onto our shoulders as Shawn stuck his head between us.
"Everyone going okay? Any problems?" He grinned.
"We're fine Shawn." I grunted as he squeezed us both together.
"Good good! I'm glad you guys feel at home! Hey, listen. The soldiers were wondering if we could help with some tasks trying to fortify the city, think you two be up to the task?" He pulled back, looking down at us with arms crossed over his chest, smiling. Chris and I looked at him, confused.
"Help? How?" I asked.
"Well, at the moment, they want us to tear down some old buildings in and around the city. They figured it'd be easier for us to do it then setting up a deconstruction crew and everything. So what do ya say? Chris and I shrugged.
"Sure. Why not?"
A special path was carved for all three of us to take to the new location. Police were out and about to make sure no one got onto our path as we walked. Plenty of normal sized furs were out to watch. Some were sitting in their office buildings, looking out the windows. Others were at the ground level, cameras up high taking pictures or recording. I could barely hear them talking about us, the word "Macro" being passed around. I guess that's what we were identified as now. I also noticed a few news stations were reporting. I couldn't blame them. We were off limits to everyone, and could only be seen from a distance. Being so close now was probably an aw-inspiring moment.
We were led to a large area filled with about six decrepit apartment buildings. The job was simple; knock the buildings down to rubble without letting it fly out into the workable areas of the city. So no hard swings or punches. Once it was rubble, we were to scoop it up and lead take it out to a specified area, and to make sure not to take too much as none was meant to drop from our hands.
I looked at the buildings, realizing I was almost eye to eye with the roof if I stood on my toes. I took some quick calculations to try and guess the buildings height, putting it around 120 feet. I pit quickly began to form in my stomach. Tomorrow, I would be looking down at this building at this rate...
A sharp alarm went off, signaling all was clear and we were to begin. Shawn wasted no time, instantly punching it a bit, cracking through the front and causing rubble to cascade to the ground below. I looked back at my target and took in a deep breath, pulling back my fist and slamming it through, but not at full strength.
My initial reaction was to feel some kind of pain, but I forgot that it took a lot more than some bricks and glass to hurt me know. The second thought was how it felt rather easy to do. And then I felt the rush of seeing what I was capable of. It was intoxicating. Being able to do so much with such little force.
I immediately punched again, a bit harder this time, watching a few more floors cave in. I could feel my anger starting to rise as I thought about the past week, punching again.
I hated this growth.
Punch, there went a few more walls.
I hated my life being taking away from me.
Punch, a whole floor was gone in an instant.
I hated not being with Samantha.
Punch, more floors collapsed under my fists.
I hated the rogue giants forcing us to run from our home and being powerless to stop them.
Kick, there went the front of the first few floors.
"This is so unfair!" I roared out, starting to completely wail into the building without holding back now. I grunted and growled, grabbing bits and crushing them in my hands, clenching my hands together to slam through multiple floors, grinding pieces to dust under a foot. I finally felt like I had a release and I was going to enjoy it as much as I could.
Before the building began to completely collapse, I grabbed a huge chunk and readied to throw it into the next target, but a hand quickly grabbed my arm, snapping me out of my furor.
I turned, half stunned as Chris looked at me sternly.
"Stop Bryant."
I blinked and looked around, most of the crowd who was out to watch us had scattered or were forced away by the police. The sudden realization of my actions hit me harder than I was hitting the building.
"Oh god...Chris, I'm sorry. I didn't mean..."
He only nodded and started to escort me out of the city, Shawn saying how he would continue till Chris got back.
"What happened out there man?" Chris asked once we were on the outskirts of the city again.
"I don't know! I just...lost it. It just felt good to take out my frustrations for once. And...I just got lost in it..." My ears drooped behind my head. I felt so ashamed.
"Yeah. You sure did. Scared bout everyone there. The construction guy was blaring the alarm sound for you to stop, but you didn't, so I had to step in." The puma, wrapped an arm around me, and I suddenly felt very tired, almost going limp.
"I'm sure Shawn will explain it to the authorities that everything is okay. But it may be best you don't try something like this again for awhile."
I nodded and sighed. I wasn't just some freakish big rabbit anymore, I was a Macro.
November 12th
I didn't feel any better the next day. I could imagine what was going on in the news about me. Even when Chris and Shawn came back, they assured me it was okay and no one was hurt. But I still knew I had left a bad impression.
Mary had come back yesterday and told us the scientists actually calculated her height while checking over her for why she stopped. Apparently she was a total 76 feet with a few inches. She had to look pretty far up to us though, since she barely came up to most of our waists. Which doubling it meant I was sitting around 152 feet. I didn't feel any better.
Jeff was pretty surprised though. I wasn't surprised, he liked showing off to her lately at his increased size, and joked with her a lot. I had a feeling they had a thing going on since they would occasionally go off on their own, but it wasn't any of my business. Jeff was annoying, but I didn't see him as a bad guy. I figured is Mary liked him, then so be it, even though it looked like Jeff was hitting on the other girls in the group too.
Shawn pulled me aside after my conversation with her to have a talk. I felt like a child about to be scorned.
"So bud, what's been going through that noggin in your head?" He gave it a few taps. I paid it no mind.
"I'm sorry. Its just been this whole growing ordeal. I guess I was trying to hide and hold back my frustrations for so long. They just slipped out." I explained.
"Don't worry bud. Happens to the best of us. Just under a lot of stress is all! Have you figured may...ya know, to relieve some of it?" He made a jerking motion with his hand.
"Wait, seriously? At this size?" I gawked, looking at him.
"No no! I never said I did it! But I felt when I was normal it was the best way to relax for me at times. Just find some place not being used away from here and..."
"Okay, stop. I'm not masturbating to try and get this stress out okay? Just, lets drop it for now." I brushed him aside, wanting to get as far away as I could, my ears flushing red.
"Okay bud! Just try to relax!" He called to me. I rolled my eyes and waved back without looking.
I was too busy rubbing my temples to see where I was going, and slammed into what felt like a brick wall. Bouncing back, I looked up to realize it was Ronald.
"Something wrong Bryant?" He rumbled.
"Sorry Ron, I didn't mean to, I wasn't paying attention." I mumbled.
"That's a problem bun. We need to pay attention." He glared. I felt my anger starting to flare up again.
"Oh great, now you're gonna get on my case too?" I glared back, and even dared to brush up against him as I tried to walk by.
Big mistake.
I felt that heavy paw on my should again as it squeeze and pulled me back, slamming me on my butt as I felt the earth shift under me. From the ground looking up, the bear was an intimidating sight. I could barely see over his gut as he glared down, those massive arms twitching as he growled down.
"Stop acting like a child and spill it."
"I'm sorry. I'm just in a bad place since we first got here. I realized I'm losing everything, my old life, my girlfriend, and even who I am. I don't feel like I'm Bryant Loyft anymore, but just some nameless, destructive, macro." I gripped my head and squeezed, just trying to feel anything else but this anger and frustration.
"Macro?" He squatted down, "What's a macro?"
"Its what they are calling us now. Normal folks at least. It likes they don't see us as fellow furs anymore."
"Did they say that or did you interpret it?" He cocked his head.
"Well...I figured as much..." I mumbled, looking away. The bear shook his head and sat beside me with a massive thud, shaking some nearby trees.
"I think I get why you wanted to live alone. It doesn't hurt because you never lost someone, is it?"
"No, its not." He sighed, looking out towards the city and its nearby river. "I live alone because I did love someone before. But it turned out they had lied to me this whole time, pretending to be someone they weren't."
"Wait, you did have a girlfriend?" I blinked, looking up.
"No, a boyfriend." He corrected.
"Oh sorry, I didn't mean.." I sighed, another screw up for me.
"It's fine." He brushed it aside.
"So, how did you find out?"
"Friends told me to check out his journal online. Saw everything. Not sure why the idiot thought he could post that on the internet without me eventually finding out. I guess he was just seeing how far he could go getting away with it. Seems I was being a big joke to him. And when I realized how big I had grown those first few days, I really wanted to go and make him a red smear. But I held back."
The talk wasn't making me feel much better about myself, but it did make me realize I was being pretty selfish. I was thinking I was the only one suffering through this, but I wasn't. Everyone else was dealing with their own issues and temptations after growing so big and trying to resist those urges.
"Well, at least he didn't grow too, right? So he can be jealous of your look and size." I wondered to myself how quickly I switched, trying to make him feel better.
"He did. You met him at the old city. He was the elk you talked to."
My mind raced back, how that seemed so long ago to that point. But I remembered talking to him, then him helping me in that fight.
"Oh him. Yeah, I remember now."
"I bet he even tried to hit on you, didn't he?" He growled slightly. I nodded, remembering how he was looking me over.
"So, you broke up, and that was it?" I asked, now slightly more interested.
"Basically. Broke up, and I decided to just stay a shut away for the rest of my life. Only to now be regretting that."
"Why?"
"I saw the others getting visitors those first few days, seeing people care for them. Anyone who might care for me is either dead or too far away to come. I was pretty jealous seeing you talking to your girlfriend. But I'm sorry she broke up with you."
I blinked a few times.
"We didn't break up."
He stared at me in disbelief.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to give that impression! I just haven't been able to spend the time I use to be able to with her is all. So it does fell like we have." I quickly explained.
"I want to throttle you so badly now for making me spill my guts." He growled.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" I started to scoot back.
"It's fine. I'm kidding. Do I really intimidate you that much?"
"Well, you are huge and build like a tank so..."
"Yeah, thanks for making ME feel better." He smirked.
"But, thanks Ronald. You made me realize a few things and I think I can do this again." I sighed, finally giving a real smile.
"Good." He nodded, starting to stand.
"And I hope after all this is over, you consider us your friends and hang out sometime." I stood as well, letting out a sigh of relief like a weight had been lifted.
Ronald cracked a smile, and I could see his eyes watering a bit.
"I'd like that."
November 13th
"Um, Bryant. You may want to wake up, be careful when you do." I heard someone say. My heart began to race. Were we surrounded? I opened my eyes slowly, having laid on my back for the night for once, to see Chris over me.
"What's wrong?" I asked, not seeing any immediate danger.
"Well, you aren't going to like this." He sighed. I wondered what he was talking about, getting fed up with the ambiguous answers, and sat up.
I wish I hadn't.
There is a fence that surrounds the camp to make sure normal sized furs stay out, rather than keep us in. My foot apparently had grown right over it over night, and I knew I was far away last night to not cause any damage.
"Just...how big did I, did we grow?" I gasped, looking down.
"Not sure, but it wasn't just you." He pointed over to the rest of the group.
It wasn't just me who had a bigger than normal boost. A lot of others had as well. But like Mary, more seemed to have stopped. Out of the twenty in our group, now only eight of us were still growing; Me, Chris, Jeff, Nicolas, Shawn, the doberman Sherry, the mouse Craig, and the tiger William. The rest hadn't apparently grown an inch.
When I saw Mary, she gulped as she looked up at me, barely knee high. I was having flashbacks to when this all started and how the normal furs seemed to shrink to me every day.
"It seems to be speeding up." Shawn explained. "At least that's what a scientist said."
"But have they discovered anything new yet? A cure? Anything?" William was worried, seeming to plead for a yes. But Shawn was silent, and shook his head.
"I'm sorry bud. Still nothing. All they got so far is maybe with our DNA. But after earlier samples being looked at, nothing seemed out of the ordinary."
A sense of hopelessness was coming over the group. An unsettling silence had fallen over us. What was to be said? What could be said? I thought about yesterday, and how I had sunk so low.
"We hold on." I said, lifting my head to look at everyone. They didn't seem to believe me.
"Look, right now, the world is in a dangerous state. There are other giants out there who are destroying cities and towns, and committing mass murder intentionally."
Everyone was pretty stone faced.
"But we aren't like that. Most of us have stopped growing. That means we could be next. They can figure out a cure to return us to normal. This isn't permanent everyone, there is a light at the end of the tunnel for all of us. But until we reach that end, we have to be protectors of this city, and even others. We can't let those rogue macros do whatever they want because of their size. All of us, big and not so big. We can't give up."
Everyone began to nod their heads in agreement.
"But why? What's the point?" Craig spoke up. I wasn't sure how to respond right away, and struggled to find words.
"Because, we have to. The normal furs may fear us at times, but they need us to protect them. Despite whatever they may say, we have to do what's right." Chris spoke up. Everyone else nodded, even Craig. I looked at Chris and smile, him giving me a wink. After that, everyone broke up and went their own way where we could.
We were informed later that day our area was being expanded, anyone near the camp was being cleared out by the use of eminent domain. We felt bad kicking furs from their homes, but it was getting harder to see houses the larger we got. I wouldn't be surprised if we just grew over some soon.
"Good speech back there." Chris said to me as we both looked at the city.
"Thanks. And thanks for helping me out." I gave him a soft punch in the shoulder. We sat in silence for a bit before he spoke.
"Do you believe it? Everything you said?"
"I have to. It's the only thing I can keep saying now to not lose it. And the others needed that as well. Furs are stopping in the growth, so that has to mean there is a limit. Everyone just has a different one." I pulled my knees up to my chest.
"What are you thinking about." He asked.
"Samantha. She hasn't visited me in awhile. I've really been missing her. And I'm afraid at this rate, I won't be able to hear her, even with a loud speaker." I sighed.
"Hey, maybe you'll stop after today and not have to worry bout it." He rubbed my back.
"Thanks. Hey, you think they're watching us talk from here and wondering what we are saying?"
"Probably with how loud we are, they can hear us easily if they listen in. But nothing we can do about it." The puma shrugged.
"True."
Suddenly, a loud yell pierced the air. We both jumped up in surprise, looking to where it came from, but saw nothing.
"Who did that?" I asked, the group coming together. Everyone looked at each other, shaking their heads.
"Who's missing?" I quickly scanned the group, finally noticing Jeff and Mary were missing. Were they attacked?
"It's Jeff and Mary. Spread out and carefully search for them, try not to step on anyone or thing." Shawn said. Everyone broke into twos, me and Chris going together. Everyone took a different part of the large territory we were given, but no sign. Chris and I checked around the woods, before coming to the other side, our jaws dropping.
Jeff was lying there, his cock completely erect and having just cummed, panting hard with his claws having dug trenches into the earth. Beside him, her face covered in his semen, was Mary, coughing and trying to clean her face.
"Are you kidding me?" I yelled, lost for any other words. Mary looked up at us, ears flushing red, Jeff lifted up his head, panting.
"Oh uh...hey guys." Also looking completely embarrassed.
"We heard you yell, did you find-HOLY CRAP!" Shawn stopped in his tracks along with William. "You actually did it? I wasn't serious!" He exclaimed. I face palmed.
"Well, this isn't exactly the first time..." Jeff slowly sat up, hunching over.
"Wait, what?" Chris finally found his voice.
"We...kinda been doing it since we got here..." Mary spoke up. "We kinda fell in love after he saved me and Mr. Baskowits."
"So why did you yell?" I rubbed my temples, trying to process all of this.
"Well, with her size, it was pretty kinky the way she can toy with my cock so-"
"Okay, okay! I don't need to know anymore." I groaned. "You do know how dangerous it is right? If you aimed in the wrong direction or anything you could- Chris! Seriously?" Shawn glared at the puma, his own shaft starting to speak out.
"I'm sorry! I can't help it! Its just affecting me for some reason!" He quickly covered himself, hurrying away.
"Okay, we're all adults here. Its completely natural, but ill advised. I'll take partly blame for this since I joked around with the idea. But no more. Control your libidos!" Chris warned, glaring at everyone before shaking his head and walking away.
Everyone started to head back since it was a false alarm, and I quickly felt my disgust fade away. I remembered the second day of growth and how Samantha was curious about it at that time. But I was too afraid to act on it, afraid I would hurt her. And back there in my mind, I couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like if we had done it at that time.
Shaking my head, I couldn't help but laugh. Maybe we were all going to be alright after all.
November 14th
Unfortunately my speech from yesterday seemed premature for us. Worry was once more spreading over the still growing giants, as we had taken another huge leap in size. I figured I was at least going to gain at least 20 feet or so, but now I was closing in on 300. Nicolas was already pass that point, but if it was getting to him, he wasn't letting it show.
"Shawn, what are we going to do? We are growing faster, we're going to run out of room to even sit or sleep." The mouse, Craig looked up at the roo.
"I don't know bud. I wish I could tell you." He sighed.
"I stepped on a house yesterday. Thank god it was abandoned, but it didn't stop me from having a heart attack." William mewed softly.
"We just have to look down more." Shawn cautioned.
"But have you noticed how small everything and everyone is getting? It's going to be impossible at this rate!" Sherry whined.
"Then try to walk slower." Shawn sighed. This usually happened at least twice a day now, everyone coming to him of their problems. But he took it and did the best he could. I always thought he was annoying when I first met him, but he was really trying to keep everyone calm and together. Jeff and Mary weren't around, we figured they had gone away for more personal time together again. We figured as long as they were careful and didn't make noise, it'd be fine.
I was more worried about Chris. After yesterday, he was being more distant with the group. If anything, he was acting like Nicolas on the first days of the growth.
I finally worked up the nerve to approach him, again looking towards the city, but further away.
"What's up?" I asked, sitting down beside.
"Nothing. Just thinking." His voice said otherwise.
"It's about yesterday, isn't it?"
He didn't answer right away, his ears folding back.
"I'm a real freak aren't I?" He sighed out.
"What? What makes you say that?" I perked a brow.
"Don't tell me you haven't thought it after our moment in the woods at the old city." He glared at me from the corner of his eye.
"No, I never did. What gave you that idea?" I was completely taken back from this. He seemed to hesitate with what he wanted to say next. His tail was twitching as he bit his lower lip.
"You remember what I said though, right?" He spoke quietly.
"I think so. Something bout sex in the city?" I tried to think back to it. "Again, its a natural thing. I mean, Jeff and Mary are probably doing it right now again, lets face it." I rolled my eyes.
"No, its not just that." He took a deep breath. "You know those old giant monster movies? Like 'Attach of the 50ft Vixen'? I was a big fan of those okay? I would constantly imagine myself at those sizes and what I could do. And as I got older, yeah, I even jerked off to the idea about it." His voice trembled as he spoke. This must've been a big secret for him, and he was telling me, probably the only other person to know.
"So...you had a giant fetish. No big deal, everyone has a weird fetish." I shrugged.
"Yeah, but...look at me now! I mean, I could actually experience it now! I could perform all those things I wanted to do since I was a kid! But...I can't..." He sighed, punching his fist into the ground. "This is the real thing, not some fantasy. If I went stomping into that city and fucked a building, or jerked off in the streets, real furs would die. Its like some kind of cruel fucken joke."
There was a lot of bitterness in his voice. And I couldn't blame him. His greatest fantasy was right before him, but he still didn't act on it.
"Honesty Chris. You're probably one of the strongest furs in his group." I finally spoke after a brief silence.
"No I'm not." he sighed, plucking the branches from a tree.
"No, you are. Here you are, everything you ever dreamed or fantasized about, right at your finger tips, but you are still able to control your urges and realize that this isn't some made up world, that your actions have real consequences. That's something to be really proud of. It shows you are a really grounded fur." I explained. Chris didn't respond right away, thinking it over.
"You think so?"
"Definitely. And look, if you still want to fantasize about it and need personal time, do it. At this point we need something as a relief from all this stress." I smirked, giving him a slap on the back. His ears flushed red.
"Thanks Bryant. I hope when we do get back to normal we can hang out some time."
"Sure." I smiled, before noticing a helicopter flying towards us. I could barely hear the fur even with his speaker, trying to get our attention.
"Bryant Loyft! Your girlfriend is here to see you!" I finally figured out. My heart almost lept into my throat. Finally she was able to come see me!
I nodded my head and gave a thumbs up, following the copter slowly to where I was to meet her.
Once I got close enough, I slowed my pace and tried to put my feet down as slowly as I could to not cause hard quakes, then slowly got on my knees and bent down to hear.
She stood there just looking up in awe at first, probably surprised at my new size since the last time she saw, which was probably when I did the demolition.
"Hi Sam." I whispered lowly, trying to make sure I didn't blow her away or hurt her ears. I could barely see her at this point, so small compared to me, almost a dot. I felt like I was going to lose it again, but I just remembered what Nicolas told me and calmed down.
She tried to say something but I couldn't hear. An audio person seemed to mess with the settings and her voice, still quiet and now distorting, finally reached my ears.
"Hi Bryant. You got a lot bigger."
"I'm hoping it'll stop soon. Mary stopped, and so did some of the others. It could be any day. Then I can hope to shrink back down, whenever that happens." I tried to sound hopeful, I needed to for myself. Sam didn't respond right away, not because of the sound not reaching me, but she apparently wasn't saying something. I started to get a pit in my stomach.
"That's good! I hope so too..." Her voice was shaky. Was she nervous? Scared? Of me?
"Sam, is something wrong?" I wasn't going to beat around the bush any longer. Again, silence. Somehow, I could tell she was shaking now.
"Bryant. I love you. You know that. But...I don't think this is going to work out anymore." Her voice was cracking, it wasn't from the speakers. I felt my heart stop.
"Sam..."
"I can't keep going off of hopes and soons. Every day I keep telling myself you'll be back to normal soon. That everything will go back to normal and we can be together again. But it isn't happening. The scientists are stumped. There hasn't been any progress. And I can't go the rest of my life just waiting. I'm sorry, but it's over." And with that, she started to run off the stage with a brief sob getting through the mic.
Everything crashed around me. I felt myself starting to reach for her, to comfort her, to beg her to take me back, but I stopped, knowing that if I tried to grab her, I'd kill her. I watched as she got into the car, and it drove off. Again, I wanted to give chase, to do ANYTHING. But, my size...
I...didn't know what to do. What could I do?
Fuck it all. Wreck the city. Make her pay for breaking up with you.
That thought kept repeating in my head over and over. And I started to lean more and more towards it. Why shouldn't I now? I would be stopped, sure, but at least she would be as hurt as I was, right?
The soldiers below seemed to keep their hands ready on their guns, and probably on an alarm. They had to have known what she was going to do, and probably even tried to talk her out of it. But Sam was too forceful, and honest. Breaking up with me and not telling me about it would've eaten away at her. She had to do it so she could move on.
But what about me?
I shakily stood, unable to keep my calm stature. I gave a look over to the city. Thinking again of just getting revenge somehow. Chances are the soldiers below were already talking to the command center, waiting to give the alert.
I closed my eyes hard and forced the thought out of my mind, and only walked away, the furthest I was allowed to go and even a bit further, watching my step.
When I felt I was far enough away, I fell to my knees, watching as the nearby landscape shook. I hunched over, grabbed my chest, and began to cry.
November 15th
I didn't sleep well that night, and doubted I would ever again. Anyone who approached me I just turned away, either threatening or just yelling loud enough. I didn't care what the people of the city thought or anyone around, I just wanted to be alone.
The growth was still going on, and yes, it was increasing faster. Something that wasn't making my mood any better. But at least staying away from the group, I was able to observe them better.
Ronald was talking to some of the smaller macros. The bear was zooming up in height still, having to stoop down to talk to the smaller ones. The poor bear was probably 400 feet by now. His physic hadn't changed at all. Still built like a tank, the smaller furs had to stand back to just see over his gut and at his face.
Craig and Sherry hadn't grown last night, the lucky bastards. But they were trying to now get use to looking up at everyone again. Don't get me wrong, they were glad to finally stop growing, they couldn't stop talking about it. I was tempted to sit on them to try and show them how great it was.
No, calm down. None of this is their fault.
I sighed and took a few deep breaths.
Shawn was talking to them, something about how they may have to be part of a new phone system they were setting up. Apparently, since Mary was the smallest, she could easily talk to the normal folk. She would then give that to us so we could hear and understand. But now that she was barely knee high to most of us, she would soon be relaying the message to one of the macros that outgrew her, who would relay it to us. Like that old children's game.
He was still so laid back most of the time, it was starting to get on my nerves. Or maybe it was my mood that was making it that annoying. I didn't know. I didn't care. His constant use of 'dude' trying to be everyone's pal, he was starting to feel more and more a relic of the 90s. I wanted to shout that at him, and tell him to just move on, but I bit my tongue. I knew I was in a bad mood from the breakup, and anything I did or say now I could regret later. It was just so hard to let off steam when you are trying to not hurt anybody. Just one of my footsteps would level a normal house at this point. I was taller than most skyscrapers even. I had once thought 200 feet was a milestone. Boy was I fucken wrong.
Course, Jeff and Mary were still eloping having having their little escapades. I figured after every one of their sessions, Mary was heading to the nearby stream or somewhere to wash off. Too bad we could still smell the sex on both of them. They claimed they were doing it as often as they use too, since Mary was getting so small compared to him he was getting afraid of crushing her. At least until he was alone with Craig, in which I could see the two talking to one another in hushed whispers. I barely caught one of them, but it was definitely about the size play the two would do to get off. I was afraid of walking to where they had their fun to see how sticky everything probably was.
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they were on the news or some new porno film. Its not like that could be hidden for long.
"Why do they get to be happy in this miserable condition and I suffer?" I muttered, feeling my jealously towards the two rise. I use to have what they had, but my love didn't grow. Not only that, she left me when I needed her the most. I probably scared her now. She had just broken up with a macro, someone who could flatten the whole city if he wanted too. Hell, short of a ballistic missile, tanks wouldn't probably touch me at this point, and they would only become more and more useless as time went on. The only thing I had to fear were other macros who could be bigger than me. And that number was starting to dwindle with more and more no longer growing.
Finally there was Chris. I hadn't shared his secrets with anyone yet, but I knew if I wanted to hurt him, I could.
He trusted you. Would you do that out of spite?
I sighed as the stupid voice in my head was right. I wouldn't. Since the beginning Chris was there with me. I had grown a close friendship with the puma in these days. He was probably worried about his fox friend Kevin. I figured he had join that white, two different eyed wolf's campaign to attack anyone that opposed his group.
Though, that still didn't explain why he hasn't come after this city yet. Was he afraid of Us? We were some of the biggest in our group, Ronald the second biggest in the world. But he had us by numbers. It still made no sense. And the military was telling us nothing, probably fearing we would go off and try to help him.
Speaking of which, apparently the buildings we knocked down was done to make room for some new command center or something. Probably to report Macro sightings and to send out forces where needed. Hell, I wasn't surprised they were doing what was done in the movies. Create some giant robot to fight us. Guess that would be pretty futile seeing how we were still expanding. Not to mention the resources and time need to even build one.
So that was it. Half the month was over, and the growth was still going. The world was still on edge, and mine had completely collapsed.
I had no idea what to do anymore. I just wanted to die.
November 16th
I wasn't any better the next day. Nor was I any smaller. In fact, I had taken a huge leap in size. I was expecting to break 400 feet, not blow past it and be half way to 500. Ronald seemed to already be there, while Chris and Shawn stayed close to me. This time, Jeff had finally stopped growing. He was a bit disappointed, I guess because he wanted to see try some more things with a smaller girlfriend.
I could care less.
I was too restless sitting about. I had to do something. Go somewhere. Just not be here. So have Shawn's little talk, I started to head off.
"Where are you going?" The roo asked.
"Out. Lets face it, the government can't really contain us anymore. We're too big. So I'm going to explore." I glared back.
"That's not a good idea bud. You could hurt someone." He started to walk towards me.
"Don't. Stop calling me bud. I'm not your 'bud'." I growled under my breath.
"Bryant, I know you're still hurting from the breakup, but you need to calm down and think about it." Chris did look pretty worried, but I still couldn't find a reason to care. I looked towards Nicolas, but he looked away. Course, he knew what I was going, and I was actually looking towards something that could break me out of this funk. But he said nothing.
"I'm going." I turned on my heel, stomping off.
"Wait just a sec-" Shawn started to come after me, but Nicolas put a hand on his shoulder, shaking his head.
"Let him go, he needs this." He rumbled. It was like hearing that blessing gave me more strength to move forward, everyone else standing there in stunned silence.
I didn't really know where I was going. I was watching my feet, making sure to watch out for any buildings or homes I could see. I couldn't promise I avoided them all though. Things were just...so small now. Even being in a foul temper, I still stopped to crouch down and just look at everything. It was just...different. I couldn't get over that I was looking down at a building, something I use to live in. I wanted to just test putting my finger through the roof, but I still knew better. It was already going to be bad enough the foot paw craters I was leaving around just by walking.
Standing back up, I finally started to recognize where I was going. I guess being at a different size, I wasn't prepared for how fast the travel was, nor recognizing the area from a different view. I was heading back to Hanolver.
I wondered what it was going to look like. Most likely trashed and completely destroyed was my first guess. And once I saw the city come into view, I wasn't that far off.
Just entering the suburbs I could see homes smashed in, debris scattered everywhere. Crunched cars, which too me looked like small bits of tin foil littering the ground. If there were any red stains on the ground, I couldn't make them out.
I started to make my way into the city, trying to stay low and hide behind any of the remaining larger buildings. I was surprised there were still so many. By the looks of it, the rogue macros didn't stay here long to outgrow and crush the city. They probably conquered what they could, took anyone to add to their group, and moved on.
Which made me realize where I needed to go next. I had to go to the old camp site, though I felt a put growing in my stomach what I was going to find.
It was all a wreck. Any tanks that were there were torn apart, any sort of defense was completely destroyed. And somehow, I knew if I looked close enough, I would find crushed soldiers. But that isn't what made me sick to my stomach. It was the corpses.
Other dead macros laid across the ground, their "small" bodies twisted in horrible positions from being strangled, or ripped open by claws and teeth. The stench wasn't bad, yet, since it had only been a few days. But I wanted to throw up.
It made me think back to then, when I was that small. These furs were smaller than Mary, so I had to get a bit close to recognize them. Just about a week ago these furs were alive, and just wanting to normal again, though I figured there were some from the rogues in here too. I even found the elk that had helped me before with the weasel. Nicolas's old boyfriend. His throat was ripped out, the look of horror carved onto his face. Both his antlers I had been intimidated at one time were broken off, probably taken as a trophy by his killer.
Now I was becoming a mix of emotions. I felt horrible leaving these furs behind, and not staying back to fight, all to save an ungrateful girlfriend and her family.
I stood back up. There was no point in staying to look at the dead. I had made my choice back then, and I had to live with it. That's when I heard a voice growl from deep within the city center. A survivor? Or worse...
I crouched down, trying to stay as low as I could for my size and moved slowly, barely staying behind some of the remaining skyscrapers. There, on some makeshift throne, was the skunk I had slammed my fist into on our day of escape. How did I know? His jaw was crooked as he closed his mouth.
"Really? This is all you brought me? Pathetic! I said to find the greatest riches! Not trash!" He looked at a pile of what I could tell was stolen jewelry and items of some value. He was using some metal rod with the old New Years ball on top of it, and some makeshift crown on his head.
"We are sorry my lord, but the city is mostly barren now. This is all the tinies could find." A smaller otter macro spoke, barely up to the skunk's knee. The skunk wasn't that big though either. He must've stopped growing just a few days ago, as I had a full three heads of height on him by what I could tell.
"Then they just aren't looking hard enough, are they?" The skunk sneered, some drool leaking from his jaw. That's when I finally looked down, seeing the survivors of the city all gathered before the skunk. I couldn't be too sure, but they seemed to be face down on their knees, bowing.
Around them were macros of different sizes. Some knee high to the skunk, others maybe half way up.
"Bring forward the Punish Group!" The skunk barked. Immediately some of the smaller macros began to force a group of the citizens up and forward, towards the skunk. I felt the hairs on the back of my neck rising, I wasn't liking this.
"You know the rules specks! You fail to please your lord and God, then you witness your loved ones being crushed!" He sneered across the group, the people barely lifting their heads to see. I knew this wasn't the first time it happened.
One of the macros pushed a normal fur forward. I couldn't see what they were, but I could still see they were shaking, probably sobbing. My mind began to race. I didn't know what I should do. Sure, I was bigger than all of them here, but they still outnumbered me, I couldn't take them all on, could I? Not to mention the citizens being in the center.
"For your failure of pleasing your god, you shall be crushed. Your final moments won't be wasted though, as your death will teach others to not fail again." He leered, that sick smile on his face as he loomed just his big toe over the helpless fur.
My blood began to boil. I was shaking, causing some of the buildings before me to rumble. I couldn't control myself. I knew I shouldn't, but I should. They were innocent. They didn't deserve this!
Just as he lowered his toe, I stood up.
"Leave them alone you bastard!" I screamed, going around the crown and leaping at the skunk. He was stunned, they all were seeing a titanic bunny, larger than their "god" crashing forward and grabbing the skunk, moving him away from stepping on the fur, slamming him into the ground.
"What the hel-?" I didn't give him a chance to finish as I began to beat the every living shit out of him. He struggled to cover his face and push me off, screaming for help. The other macros seemed to snap out of their stupor and jumped on top of me. Despite being knee high to me, it was still painful to feel their teeth and claws sinking into my fur, trying to tear me open.
I was able to grab a few and fling them off, standing as I twisted and turned, some hanging on still despite my swipes. This gave the skunk time to get up, grabbing his staff and swinging it like a bat, slamming into my gut. I felt the wind go out of me and fell to knee, shakily trying to get back up.
"Its you! The damn bunny who broke my jaw!" He swung again, hitting me across the side of my face. I cried out in pain, feeling a tiger sink their teeth into the back of my neck. I reached back and grabbed him, with both hands, trying to pry him off. That left me wide open though, and the skunk cracked that metal right into my face. I fell backwards, the tiger letting go, trying to get away, but they weren't fast enough. As I landed back, I felt a sickening crunch behind me.
Groaning, I rolled to the side, feeling and seeing blood dripping on the ground from my face.
"I don't know why you came back here, but I've been waiting a long time for my revenge..." He laughed, bringing the metal rod up to drive it through my form. But before he could, I kicked out my foot, my large paw causing him to lose his balance. I jumped back up, gripping him around the neck and held him as hard as I could, even as the other macros jumped on me.
"Let me go-! You-Bastard!" he choked out, clawing at my forearms.
"Go to hell." I growled down, gripping his head as hard as I could, squeezing and giving a quick twist. Immediately I head the snapping of bone, and his body went limp.
Seeing their ruler dead, the remaining macros dropped off of me and began to flee, running in multiple directions. I panted and fell to a knee, holding myself up with both hands as well. I was bleeding all over from all the attacks, especially my nose. I rubbed it with my arm and sniffed, trying to clean myself up a bit. Then I turned to where the crowd was, which there was none. Apparently they broke and fled once the fighting began. I looked at the two dead bodies of the skunk and tiger, and grabbed them, throwing them outside the city. Then I came back, and kept my voice loud, but hopefully low enough the normals could hear me.
"Listen up. I can take you to a city where they can take care of you. Either come out now, or stay. But whatever happens to you after this is none of my concern." I offered and waited. No one came out at first, but soon enough the crowd start to reform. I held out both my paws, letting them climb up and get on. It felt like a bunch of ants getting into my palms.
Telling them to hold on, I careful made my way back to the others. Upon getting there, the only other giant I saw right away was Chris. He was shocked to see my condition and started to run towards me, but I shook my head and nodded towards my palms. Dropping them off at the edge of the city.
"Holy shit. Bryant, what did you-"
I didn't let him finish and instead grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him forward, kissing deeply. He went completely wide eyed in surprise. I didn't care. I wasn't gay, and I figured he wasn't either, but I needed this, and I didn't care.
"Bryant wha-"
"Shut up. You wanted to live out one of your fantasies? Then lets go fuck inside a city." I grinned.
November 17th
I woke up late the next day, my body feeling completely drained after all the adrenaline ran out. My ears blearily opened to the noon sun, groaning as I rolled over, my arm hitting something. Blinking, I saw tan fur, the previous night starting to come back to me.
Hanolver was a wreck, and I had encouraged Chris to act out one of his fantasies, and even joined in. Ramming our dicks through buildings, masturbating, and doing any lewd act we wanted, pretty much flattening an already destroyed city.
Sitting up and looking around, the buildings were a lot lower than last night. Least, what were left. Another huge leap in size. The largest skyscraper coming barely up to my hips. I rubbed my head and groaned, trying to calculate the size. 600 feet? Give or take? Sounded bout right.
"Morning." Chris yawned behind me, stretching and flopping back his arms, crushing more rubble.
"Yeah." Was all I said, looking over myself. Most of my injuries had healed, of course, but I still felt tender around my nose and eyes. Probably another night and I would be fine again.
"Something wrong?" Chris pushed himself up, looking at me worried.
"No, nothing." I felt hollow again. I thought I could get over Sam in one night, but I still felt nothing. I hated it. I hated everything.
I stood up, figuring I should head back to the camp so the others didn't get worried, but Chris jumped up as well and grabbed my hand.
"Hey, you aren't going to tell anyone bout this right? Things we did, or I did? I mean, I don't want the others to look at me weird." He was truly concerned about this, his eyes pleading.
"No Chris. I'm not." My voice was cold as I yanked my hand free. That didn't seem very reassuring to him.
"Bryant, this doesn't change anything between us either, right?"
I rolled my eyes.
"For god's sake Chris, let it go. I don't care about your fetishes or how other people perceive you. And you shouldn't either. " I glared back.
"What is wrong with you? Is it the breakup? I know she meant a lot but-"
I turned swiftly and backhanded him with a fist, knocking him to the ground as he grabbed his cheek.
"Shut up! You don't know what I'm going through got it? Just go shove another building up your ass and leave me alone!" I shouted down at him, leaving him stunned and holding his cheek before turning and stomping off, crushing a few standing buildings in my path.
This anger again, I hated it. I thought I had it gone but now it was back, which only made me angrier. It was like I was in some perpetual loop of hate. I didn't even realize I had reached the our normal meeting spot. The others all looked up at me, some more so than others, but Shawn and Nicolas still were larger than me.
Nicolas was actually walking towards me, probably wanting to know what Chris and I had done last night. I looked up to tell him before he could ask, only to have a fist rammed into my gut. I felt my eyes bulge out as I gasped for breath, clutching my stomach and falling to my knees with a thoom, groaning.
"You damn idiot. Do you realize how dangerous and stupid you were?" He growled down, his voice shaking me to my core. I had only heard him angry once, and that was the day of our escape. But having this anger aimed at yourself? From someone who could crush your skull between his hands? That was a new level of fear.
"I saved a bunch of people and killed a rogue skunk giant and tiger. So what?" I gasped, trying to gain back my breath. He crouched down before me, glaring.
"I get it okay? You're hurting. I felt it too when Jake broke up with me. But get over it. Got it? If she broke up with you over this, then she wasn't worth it in the first place."
"Easy for you to say. Jake is dead." I coughed, glaring back at him. The news seemed to stun him for a bit.
"Yeah, throat gouged out, antlers broken off probably as some kind of trophy. Probably makes you feel, doesn't it?" I spat. He said nothing at first, before his fist slammed into the side of my head, knocking me to the ground once more.
"Don't you dare EVER think I wanted that! I hated him, sure, but I didn't wish death on his head. Nor on anyone else's!" He jabbed his finger towards me the whole time as I tried to get the ringing out of my ears.
"I like you Bryant. I do. But we can't have someone like you hanging around if you can't pull yourself together. You'll become a threat to the city and everyone else. Either shape up or get out." The tough guy act started to crack, and I realized this was really hard for him.
I couldn't move though. I couldn't look up at him. I just felt too ashamed. I had acted like some rotten child and hurt everyone around me.
Again I took some time alone from the group. I could still over hear them though using their telephone system. Apparently the survivors I rescued were telling news stations of the horrors they experienced and were being treated at the local hospitals. They were apparently in bad shape. Another week or so and they would've all died most likely of either starvation or being crushed.
Then apparently our confrontation made the headlines with video of Nicolas punching me. The military explained how the giants were making sure no one acted out of line. All was okay now according to them. A lie simply to reassure the citizens the giants weren't starting to go berserk.
Chris came back a bit later. He said how he just went exploring for a bit and was careful. He gave me a quick glance but immediately looked away. I couldn't blame him. I messed with his feelings and left him probably in a state of anxiety if I would actually tell the others or not. That might've been relieved though since Nicolas didn't confront him on it.
Finally, I couldn't take it anymore and waited for Nicolas to be alone, before walking over and sitting beside him, my knees to my chest. He didn't really look at me, but just gave a grunt. I took a deep breath.
"How did you do it? How did you get over all that anger and pain with the breakup?"
"It hurt. Right down to the core. I felt betrayed, angry, and wanted to take my anger out on the world, just like you probably feel right now. I couldn't find an outlet for it though, and just left the world alone. And I was wrong to do that." He rumbled out. I felt a tear sliding down my cheek.
"When does it go away?"
"It doesn't. The moment will always be there. Don't dwell on it, think of the good times you at least had. Those were real. Those are what are worth remembering. I'm sure she had her reasons for breaking up with you, and I don't believe it was something you did. I think she just lost hope of you getting back to normal, and wanted to grow old with someone her size is all." He patted my back as I put my face against my knees.
"You're a good guy Bryant. I'd hate to see you turn into some asshole over a love loss. I'm sure you'll find someone else out there."
"So what should I do now?" I choked back from going out into a full out cry, trying to keep my composure.
"First, you apologize. To me, to everyone. Maybe even give a statement. You did save a bunch of people, so you were being recognized as a hero till this morning."
My head snapped up.
"Oh god. Chris! I need to apologize to him right away. I was so hyped up last night I actually kissed him!" I groaned, banging my head on my knees.
"Wait, what? I thought-"
"I'm not! I just...wasn't thinking and acted out!"
"Did you...?" He gave me a quizzical look.
"No! No. We didn't. It was just that kiss is all." I half explained, not telling about what we did to Hanolver. I jumped up, wiping my nose.
"Thanks Nicolas. And...I'm sorry. You're right. I need to move on." I sighed and immediately began to head over to the puma as he laid on his side, looking at the city.
"Chris?" I said lowly, thinking he was napping. A twitch of the tail as I said his name said otherwise.
"Chris, I'm sorry. Bout last night, bout this morning. All of it. I wasn't thinking clearly and was just a jumble of emotions." I looked down at my feet. He didn't respond.
"I'm an asshole. I hurt you and messed with your emotions. I shouldn't have done any of those things to you."
Still nothing.
"And if you are wondering, no, I didn't tell anyone what we did. I only mentioned the kiss to Nicolas, and that's it. I'm also sorry for that. Its not that I didn't mean it, I mean, I did but didn't, ya know? I'm not gay, just I wasn't thinking straight and the fight and..." I sighed as I realized I was rambling. Slumping my shoulders, I took a deep breath.
"I'm sorry. I'm hoping this doesn't ruin our friendship, but I understand if you don't want to hang with me anymore." I waited for maybe a reply at all, but only his tail twitch in response. Nodding to myself, I went back to seclusion, realizing I had a lot of healing to do.
November 18th
The next day, Shawn called us together for another meeting. It was that hard really, with the growth kicking in faster and faster, there wasn't much land to travel to get to one another.
"So, the military has been getting on my case now." He sighed looking over everyone, but falling on me.
"They know they can't really control us now. Our sizes are increasing faster and faster every day."
"Has there been any word of a cure yet?" Craig spoke up.
"No. Nothing. Now-"
"Why not? Its been eighteen days! Eighteen! I want to sleep in my own bed again!" He whined, stamping a foot.
"Craig. We know. We all want to. But again, what I wanted to say-"
"Actually, can I say something first?" I spoke up, everyone looked at me. I took a deep breath. "Look, I know I've been acting up lately. I'm sorry. But I think I know where this is going. I endangered people leaving the area. I could've killed someone merely stepping on them, and I'm scared that I may have." I couldn't help but shutter at the thought.
"But, if I hadn't, those furs would've died. And that's going on outside of here. Those rogue macros are doing whatever they want to normal folk. Forcing them into some sick worship, or killing them for fun. And I'm not going to sit here anymore and let them do it. So damn the military scorning us. Least we can do something."
I didn't even notice my hands were in fists at the end. But it was true. I had thought about it all last night, and how worthless we were staying here.
"That's great bud. NOW, IF I CAN FINISH...!" He looked around, waiting to be interrupted again.
"That is actually what I wanted to talk about." He rubbed his head and sighed.
"Oh..." I felt my ears go red.
"While they build that new command center to hook back up to the satellites, since apparently the rogue giants went and attacked the cities with connections to them, they want us to scout out nearby cities to see what is going on. Not to engage, but to just see." Again his eyes fell on me.
"If we find a city in trouble, we report back, and we work with the military for an evac. No more carrying smaller folk. They can't understand us at this size, and you can't see them. I bet you didn't even notice the two by Mary's feet." Chris pointed down towards her, the shrew was barely taller than our one of our paws. But it was true, I couldn't even make out the military personnel.
The fact just hit me so hard. I couldn't make out normal furs anymore. They were less than ant size to me. Just how disconnected was I to a normal life now?
"-which is why we will be splitting up into teams of two and going off in different directions."
My mind snapped back to what Chris had just finished saying. I looked around a bit, trying to figure it out, but he was already going off into names.
"Craig and Sherry, you two will be heading towards Baskerville to the east. Jeff and I will head north to check on Scnidnersburg. Chris and Bryant, you are gonna go by Hanolver again, but continue on to Hamfton. Remember, do NOT engage, just observe. If the city is intact, don't get any closer. Just come back and tell Mary so she can tell the Military. Everyone else will stay here, meaning you too Nicolas, but sorry, you being so big makes it hard to try and stay hidden. Though, truth be told, its going to be hard for all of us at this rate."
"Then why not sending the smaller giants?" Chris spoke up. Shawn looked back at Mary, seeming to exchange some kind of unspoken word before he looked back at all of us.
"As I said, they can't understand us now because we are so big, our voices are just massive booms to them, they even have to wear headgear to not have their eardrums blown. So I can say this; if you see a giant actively attacking normal furs like Bryant did. Stop them if you can. If you are out numbered, don't engage. Our numbers are small and we can't go losing anyone. That's why we don't want to send the smaller giants. They'll be helpless." He said sternly. We all nodded.
"Okay then. Everyone head out, try to be back before sun down. If you aren't we're going to fear the worse. And please, be careful." His tone was way different than any I heard before. He sounded, afraid, concerned. Not the light heartedness I usually felt. This was really getting to him.
It also didn't help that I was with Chris, and I still wasn't sure he had forgiven me. But there would be time to figure that out during the walk.
I was wrong. The only thing that was said between us at the start was me saying I would keep a look out at our feet, to make sure we didn't step on anyone or anything. Chris only gave a grunt in reply. I felt horrible the whole time, but I knew I deserved this. I had hurt someone who I considered my best friend now.
Finally, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Chris I-"
"I get it. You were going through a rough time. Probably still are." He cut me off coldly.
"Yeah but-"
"Just tell me one thing, did the kiss mean anything?"
We both stopped, and I wasn't sure how to answer that.
"Chris...I was pumped with adrenaline and wasn't thinking. I just...did what I wanted. I'm not gay, and I'm not bi. I'm not saying there isn't anything wrong with that, but you are an attractive guy and-not that I'm coming on to you or anything! Its just...argh it was so stupid of me to do it!" I hit my forehead. It was the truth, but how could I explain it better?
"No, I get it. Its okay. I'm not gay either. Its just...again stuff I read on the internet I thought one of them was about to happen there as well, ya know?" He blushed. I started to feel like we were getting back on track.
"Chris, I swear I didn't tell anyone about your fetishes or what we did that night." I almost pleaded, wanting to hear him believe me.
"I know man, I know. I believe you. I'm not fully over the way you acted, but I at least forgive you for now, okay?" He gave me a weak smile. I nodded and sighed, feeling a bit better.
It was then we heard a very small honking somewhere and immediately stopped. We both looked down in time to barely see a bullet train going along the tracks, and us having almost stepped on them.
"Holy shit that was close!" I phewed, taking a cautious step back. We both watched as it sped on by, and couldn't help but crouch down to watch it. It was like a tiny toy train going along the tracks, with real life tiny passengers. They were probably getting the view of their lives, and probably a panic, thinking we were going to crush them. We gave slowly waves to show we were friendly, and waited for it to be a safe enough distance our footfalls wouldn't disturb them, before stepping over where the tracks should have been.
"Is it weird to you being this huge and seeing everything from a new perspective?" Chris asked.
"You have no idea..."
We went around Hanolver, not wanting to really look at the left overs of what we did. I couldn't say we missed every building underneath us, but if most of the homes were evacuated when the skunk too over, then I hoped they still were.
As we got closer to Hamfton, we slowed our pace enough more and crouch, trying to be extra careful, despite only having hills to try and hide behind. But we couldn't see any macros our size from outside the city, so that was a plus, but that didn't mean there weren't any smaller ones hiding in. If so, Chris and I could easily take them on.
"Try to get closer?" Chris whispered. I looked down at the homes outside the city. They looked like game pieces at this size. But I slowly nodded my head. We had to be sure.
Taking a few more slow and careful steps, we got closer to the city. That's when a tiny siren seemed to go off, barely audible to our ears.
"Well, that can't be good." I muttered.
"Are they going to try and blow us up?" Chris turned to me, starting to panic.
"H-hey! You g-giants! Leave this city alone!" A tiny voice spoke somewhere to us. We looked at each other before looking down at are paws, seeing a very "tiny" serval at my toes.
"Are you the protector of this city?" I whispered as I lowered my head towards the feline. She took a step back, I could see she was shaking to her core.
"Y-yes! I'm the biggest here, so that makes me its protector! I don't care how big you are, you won't hurt these people!" She hissed, baring her fangs.
"You're mistaken, we aren't here to attack. We came from Kragsten to the north of here. We were sent to scout out other cities to see if they needed aid." I explained.
"How can I trust that?"
"Well, call them?" I perked a brow wondering why the city hadn't tried to contact others.
"Our people can't! With all you bigger giants roaming around, power lines have been going out, towers, you name it. We're cut off from the world!" She glared. Thinking on the trip here, I could see what she meant. How many power lines did we ruin or even smaller dishes we didn't notice?
"We're sorry bout that. But we were sent here from the military stationed at Kragsten. We're trying to see if any cities need aid or help." Chris joined me and explained.
"Ha! What are they gonna do? I've seen those rogue giants pass by before, and I heard what they did to Hanolver." She spat.
"Look, we can go back and tell them this city is safe. We can then try to form a network so we can protect more cities." I explained. The serval looked hesitant at first, trying to see if we were lying or not.
"Can you get these people out now?" She finally spoke. Chris and I looked at each other. We couldn't see normal folk well enough anymore, carrying would be too dangerous.
"No. We're too big for that. But we can go back and get the military. They would be here tomorrow." I explained.
"That won't be enough time. I saw one of the rogue giants walking close to here, seeming to be scouting. He was about your guys size, and will probably level this place tomorrow." The tough act had finally fallen, and she seemed to be pleading.
"My family lives in this city. You have to save them."
I looked at Chris, realizing there was only one thing we could do.
"Chris, go back and tell our military what's going on. We need an immediate evac. I'll stay behind and try to help protect them till you get here."
"Bryant, you're going to be causing massive damage no matter what. Especially if he turns up tomorrow and you're both even bigger." Chris warned. I sighed, trying to think of something.
"Okay, um....what's your name?" I asked the serval.
"Katie. But you can call me Kat." She answered up.
"Okay Katie. Tell the city to load up all the buses they can. Women and children first. It wont be a smooth ride, but I think you can carefully put them in my friend's hands and he can take all that he can back to Kragsten." I formulated. Chris would have to be extra careful, but this was the best I could think of.
"Thank you! I'll go tell them right now!" She quickly turned, heading back towards the city.
"Dude, are you sure about this? Let me stay." Chris looked at me, worried.
"I've fought before, I can do this." I assured him.
"Yeah, against foes smaller than you. She said same height. What if they are a lot stronger than you to? Built like Nicolas?"
"Then I'd try to hold out for you guys to show up. If anything, bring Shawn too, just in case." I nodded.
"Well...okay..." He finally relented, sighing. "Just promise me you won't die."
"Don't worry, I'm not scared." I smirked.
I was terrified.
November 19th
My eyes slowly opened the next day, remembering where I was. I had made sure to sleep far enough from the city in case I grew over night, not wanting to damage anything if I could help it. Chris had taken what he could safely of vehicles into his hands, heading back to the group and to get more help. The citizens who remained behind were told to take shelter where they could, though I wasn't sure how well that would work when you have a couple thousand tons of bunny stomping down around you.
I took a deep breath, trying to go over my plan. I was going to try and keep this macro as far away from the city I could, if possible, and try to knock him out, if I could. I didn't want to kill again if I could avoid it. The incident with the skunk was just a heat of the moment reaction, and the tiger I couldn't do anything about.
Standing, I decided to try and take in the scope of my current size. Everything was definitely further away once more, giving me a slight sense of vertigo until I adjusted. I got as close as I could to the city, trying to measure myself against the tallest skyscraper and estimate my size. I didn't like the result.
"A thousand feet. I finally broke a thousand..." I whispered under my breath, the skyscraper only came up to my knees. If I wanted, I could easily reach down and rip it up like some flower. No one could stop me from doing it either if I thought about it. The others weren't near me at all, and I could blame any wreckage on the fight.
I didn't want to do it to be mean, but...I just wanted to test my strength. Just to experience doing it. It was a whole skyscraper! Whenever in my life time would I get a chance to do this? To experience this kind of thing again in my life?
My hand was slowly reaching for the structure the more I thought about it, crouching down to easily pick it up. I licked my lips slowly, my breathing more labored.
"Just one, it won't hurt..." I whispered under my breath.
Sense quickly kicked in as I jerked my hand back.
"No. No. No." I huffed, standing back up and stepping back as I held my hand to my chest, shaking and taking deep breaths. This size, this power, was frightening, and it was slowly getting to me. Were we all going to end up like the rogue macros? Is that what turned them into these tyrants in the first place? They gave into the power?
"And here I thought you were going to steal all my fun."
My body went stiff and rigid, my ears going straight up.
"Shit..."
I turned quickly but already a fist was flying straight into my face, knocking me back. I forced my one foot back, stepping into the city with a thud, feeling buildings crumbling under my step as I braced myself to not fall. I blinked my eyes to focus, looking at my attacker.
"Seriously? You?" My eyes narrowed as I focused on the red fox before me.
Kevin.
"Yeah, me asshole." He growled, charging forward, the ground beneath him reshaping itself and cracking from the weight and pressure. I wanted to dodge, but I knew if I did, he'd going tearing right through the city. I had totally blown any plans I had ready for this fight. Instead, I braced myself and dug in, feeling the earth shape around my toes and heels as he rammed into me, slowly pushing me back. I grunted at the impact, trying to hold him down against my stomach and began punching him in the side. We were nearly the same height and build, so it was a completely even match.
Seeing he wasn't getting me anywhere, he tried to grab my leg and lift it up. I took this chance and went with it, bringing my knee up and cracking him in the nose. He definitely felt that as he released and stumbled back, holding his snout, blood pouring from it. Yeah, I knew it was a weakness having taking a blow there myself. I just had to think of the softer parts of the body to hit to try and deal any damage.
"Mother fucker! You broke it!" He snarled, glaring at me.
"Go away Chris. Leave the city alone and stop terrorizing the normal folk. They're trying to help us!" I growled, trying to get in some kind of stance.
"You still believe that? You're a fucken moron. They set this up. We got one of the scientists to spill it before we crushed his skull." He sneered. I was stunned. Was it true? Were we being lied to this whole time?
I shook my head, glaring.
"You idiot. You tortured him into talking didn't you? He probably said that hoping you let him live." I growled. The fox shrugged.
"So we broke an arm and leg. The point is we got the truth!" He charged once again. I knew I couldn't keep fighting defensively with the city directly behind me. I was going to have to sacrifice some damage, but I stepped to the side and grabbed his arm as he swung, swinging him a bit through the city and flinging him back across the countryside. He rolled across it, for a bit, homes and structures completely flattened underneath his size as he staggered back to his feet.
"Why are you defending them anyway? I saw what you were doing. You feel it too don't you? We are GODS! Don't you get that. We keep growing, their weapons become more and more useless to us. We knew this, hence taking out the satellites and nukes. They can't use them against us now. We rule this world!" He snarled, trying to circle and find an opening. I winced as he spoke, indeed feeling like I was just some greater being.
"I bet that idiot Chris kept spouting that nonsense to you about his fetishes too hasn't he? Some pretty kinky stuff. I bet he was dying to try some of it for real." He wiped his nose again, snorting some of the blood.
"Shut. Up." I growled, glaring, letting my anger get the better of me.
"Wow, did I hit a mark? I guess he did tell you didn't he? How many buildings did he fuck?"
"Fucker!" I roared and charged forward myself, taking a wild swing that he jumped to the side of, tackling me again. We both skidded into the ground as he climbed on top of me, pressing his forearm against my throat, trying to choke me.
"Holy shit! He did didn't he? I bet you joined in too didn't you? You couldn't resist! You're no better than us!" He face was right in mine as he laughed, blood dripping on my cheeks as I clawed at his arm to move it, to try and get some breath. No one was coming to my aid this time, Nicolas wasn't going to come in and pull him off like he had done to the macro during my first fight.
It was getting harder to think. Things were starting to fade. Only one idea came to my mind.
I removed my one hand from his arm and reached down, grabbing his balls and squeezing as hard as I could.
"MOTHER FUCKER!" He screamed, instantly letting me go as he tugged back, trying to get free of my grip. I gasped for breath and pushed him off, rolling to the side and coughing.
"Fucken faggot!" He jumped at me, barely giving me time to recover as I rolled once more to the side, but his jaws clenched on my leg. I cried out in pain feeling his teeth sink in deeply, kicking as hard as I could and forcing him off, letting him crash to the ground face first. Taking my chance, I jumped on his back, wrapping my arms around his neck into a choke hold.
"Fucken...!" He started to claw at my arm, digging in and ripping out fur and flesh. I gritted my teeth, trying to hold on as hard as I could, but holding back to not break his neck. I didn't want to kill. I couldn't. He was still Chris's friend.
His attacks were getting weaker, his voice hoarser, but finally his body went limp. I slowly released and quickly sat on his chest, making sure to keep him pinned and ready to strike a blow to his head if he tried to move. But he was out cold. I slid off and sat beside him, coughing as I tried to recover, and just waited for the others.
They arrived around noon, the military in tow. Chris came back with Nicolas, both stopping to see me torn up and who I was sitting beside.
"Holy shit, Bryant!" Chris came running forward, but I held up my hand to stop him.
"Careful, there are still people down there." My voice was hoarse from the choking still. Chris nodded, watching the ground and stepping around, then seeing who I was sitting by.
"My god...Kevin? Is he..."
I shook my head.
"I was able to just knock him out." I coughed.
"Good, maybe we can get some info out of him then where the others are. Nicolas and I can take him back. Mary is on Nick's shoulder to help communicate. We came prepared." He looked over me, seeing my arm and leg bleeding badly.
"Man, why did you hold back? He was trying to kill you." Chris looked at me closer up and down slowly.
"i don't want to...kill...anymore..." I coughed once more, before everything fading to black.
November 20th
I wasn't sure how long I was out. Did I go through a whole day? A week? Oh god, if I had slept a whole week, I was afraid of how big I was going to look.
"He's waking up...!" I heard someone say, it sounded pretty far off though. That either meant they were far away, or too small to hear well.
Facing the music, I slowly opened my eyes to the afternoon sun. I slowly and carefully lifted my head, trying to see where I was. Everything was smaller but I could tell I was on the outskirts of Kragsten. On top of me was Craig, the mouse looker smaller than ever.
"Good, you're finally awake." He sighed in relief.
"Please tell me it hasn't been a week." I groaned, still feeling incredibly sore.
"Nah, just a day, almost 24 hours to be exact." He slid off of me as the other giants came over to see me.
"How you feeling? Can you walk?" Chris asked as he kneeled beside me.
"Yeah, just sore still. Yay for quick recovery." I grunted and sat up, finally noticing Shawn was beside me, standing at his full height, and I was sitting, looking him eye to eye.
"I know what you're thinking bud. And yeah, I've apparently stopped. Grats on being the second biggest now." He smiled, giving me a gentle punch on the shoulder.
"Lucky you." I smiled back, wincing as I looked at my arm. The skin had healed back at least, but fur was barely there. It would be another day of recovery at least to get back to normal. Same with my leg.
"So, where is he?" I finally asked.
"Kevin? Nicolas is keeping an eye on him. He won't dare make a move with that bear over him." Shawn pointed off away from the city, the bear staring down the fox as he sat on the ground, still holding his balls.
"He spill anything useful?" I asked.
"Not much. Apparently they believe the government implemented this, believing torture brought it out of a scientist. All a lie of course. He was a lower level scientist. Some of the other information he gave had to be completely fabricated, that when we stopped to think about it, made no sense. They think aliens are working with the government to great a super weapon for them to attack other worlds, while now asserting they are new gods of this world."
"What about the white wolf?"
"Nothing bout him. Maybe they had a falling out. Maybe he stopped growing at some point. Who knows?"
I felt that pit in my stomach again. And I couldn't hold it back, I needed to talk to someone about it.
"I...don't think its just them thinking they are gods. I almost lost control yesterday and damaged the city by myself." I admitted. Shawn and Chris looked at each other worriedly.
"What do you mean?" Chris asked. I looked at him, and he could instantly tell that Kevin had figured out what we had done.
"Before I fought him, I just wanted to test my own strength. To see what it would be like to pluck a skyscraper from its base with one hand. And I almost did. I almost gave into that temptation. But...that wasn't all..."
I took a deep breath, Chris looked down at the ground.
"Shawn, that night when I rescued those furs from Hanolver, Chris and I went back and basically leveled the place, acting out on our impulses. It was already mostly destroyed and evacuated, so we saw no harm in it at the time. But thinking back, we were giving in to those impulses at that time. I'm sorry."
There was silence between all of us. Shawn took a deep breath before he spoke.
"I admit to it too. When I was smaller I was crushing cars, just wanting to feel then crunching under my feet. How it felt so simple to do. But we did fully give in to it. We still knew what we were doing was wrong, but still took the precaution to make sure no one got hurt. That's what makes us different from them, we still try to cause no harm." He confessed.
"I crushed a home..." Craig admitted. "It was abandoned, but I just wanted to do it, ya know?"
"We're monsters..." I muttered lowly.
"No, its just natural we want to destroy. Its in our instincts. We can't help it. We can only try to control it and not let it get out of hand." Shawn gripped my shoulder.
"Is it though? Are we in control? How many have I killed without even noticing? How many could I kill by accident just by growing? I know this is happening Shawn, it has to have been. Yet...I feel nothing. No remorse, no regret. When I know I should." This hit me as he talked. I never once felt guilty that I killed someone simply by walking.
"Because, despite your best intentions, you didn't do it on purpose. You know you aren't in control of this growth. Its not your fault. And don't you dare think it is bud."
I understood what he was saying, but I couldn't get Kevin's words out of my head.
"It still doesn't make us better than them. We're the same, just justifying it a different way." I looked back over at the fox. He caught me looking and was about to sneer back, but a quick growl from Nicolas had him looking down once more.
"Don't let him get into your head bud. He's not worth it. Ignore him." Shawn glared at the fox as well. Chris was on his knees, looking down at the ground, his hands in fists.
"He use to be my friend until this growth happened, and he hung out with those conspiracy furs. They twisted his mind. But I think I can get him back. I hope." Chris's voice was shaking the whole time, like he was trying to not cry.
"Chris, not right now. Lets see if we can get him to talk first. Maybe tomorrow you can try to reason with him." Shawn started to walk around me.
"And in case you were wondering, the other cities are safe for now. The one I scouted did spot another giant, thinking it was a rogue, but it went on by without a glance at the city. So it could be just a wanderer. We're going to go search for him tomorrow to see if we can get him to join us." Chris said back as he started heading towards the front of the camp. I nodded and laid back down, still feeling tired. Chris gave me a pat on the shoulder one last time before I drifted back to sleep.
November 21st
The next day I felt a lot better, which meant Kevin probably felt a lot better too. I sat up slowly, just hoping that today was my day to stop growing, but looking down, I knew I had soared up once more.
Already some of the original giants here were out of my hearing range, and looked like ants to me. I could find my mind wandering about that. Someone over 50 feet tall, was an ant to someone like me. The whole size tiering was something else I had been thinking about recently, and maybe my fascination with it was what was distracting me at times.
Unfortunately, this meant that soon I wasn't going to be talking to one of our own for the first time. Looking down, and squinting, I could barely make out Mary. The shrew was so tiny now, though I knew she was a macro. But now, she barely measured up to one of my toes. Compared to Nicolas, it was even worse for her. I was starting to really see how this phone idea was going to be our only line of communication between all of us.
Then there was Shawn, who was starting to have to crane his neck up more at us. I didn't tell him, but I decided to use his height now to at least try to figure out sizes. With the estimation, I figured I was around 1700 feet now, Nicolas nearing 2000.
What happens if we hit a mile? What do we do? A skyscraper was a doll house to us now. And how many more macros were out there nearing 2000?
"So, apparently the information system is starting to come together, according to the head of the military. Getting information from the cities we secured or made contact with, and with finally getting some information from our friend over there, we know their group has been thinning out in size as well. If he's telling us the truth, then they have very few that can rival you two and Nicolas." Shawn informed us for our daily meeting. That was a relief for me. Maybe that wolf hadn't grown as big either.
"Shawn, we know Nicolas is considered the second bigger giant, but any reports of the biggest one?" Jeff spoke up. I had to lean in a bit to hear him. He was practically a raccoon action figure to me.
"Look, we aren't giants to the normal folk anymore. We're Macros." I finally spoke out about it.
"Macros? Where did you hear that? Or, how did you?" Shawn looked back up at me.
"When we were tearing down those buildings. I could still hear them calling us that. With our sizes, giant is an understatement. We're massive beyond comprehension, the biggest the world has ever seen. You really call this 'giant'?" I motioned over myself with both hands.
"I really don't see the big deal in the name. But okay. Anyway, back to your question Jeff, actually there has been news of her. She stopped growing a few days ago. That means Nicolas is the biggest gi-ahem "macro" now, and probably Bryant second." He concluded, tapping his chin.
The news hit me like a truck. Me, the second biggest in the world, and Nicolas the biggest. Chris and Kevin were close to me though. It looked like inches, but was probably more along the lines of feet.
"Second biggest douche in the world more like it." Kevin smirked, causing Nicolas to grab his snout in return.
"You really want this broken again, don't you?" He growled, the fox immediately, looking away and shutting up.
"So what's the plan today? Sit around and do nothing?" I sighed, really wishing for more to do other than getting lost in my thoughts.
"Well, Jeff and I were going to head back to Scnidnersburg to try and meet with that roaming Macro, if they were still around. You can come with if you feel up to it." He offered. I honestly felt like I had my fill for the day of dealing with new giants.
"No thanks. Guess I will stay here and just think some things through." I shrugged.
"Suite yourself bud. Can probably give Nicolas a break too. I'm sure you and Chris can handle the fox." He gave me a pat on the thigh before waving to Jeff to follow.
That's essentially what happened. We took over for Nicolas, giving him some time to go and stretch his legs, and not have to watching Kevin all day. It could've gone better.
"Some friend you turned out to be. Second some new guy comes in, you toss me to the side." Kevin glared at Chris as we stood over him.
"Dude, we were drifting apart even before we started growing. You were going to those weird conspiracy theory sites all the time. I kept telling you they were bogus." Chris shot back.
"Says you. Look at us now and tell me the government isn't behind it." The fox glared back. "Fuck man, you could tear down this city in minutes. And both of you teaming up could take out that bear. Hell, I'd help too. But here you are, being the military's lil bitch instead of getting revenge."
"Revenge for what?" Chris practically shouted.
"For ruining our lives! What do you think is gonna happen if we keep growing? We'll get so high up we won't be able to breath and die! Their experiment worked too well on us so they're just gonna let us die!"
"Do you have any idea how dumb that sounds?" I interjected.
"Fuck you bunny boy. If you didn't play dirty, you'd be dead by now. I bet you just couldn't wait to grope my balls." He sneered at me.
"I'm not gay dumbass." I rolled me eyes. "This isn't some fantasy where everyone plays on fair ground. I did what I had to to live. You would've done the same."
"Keep telling yourself that. But I bet when Chris went and acted out his fetishes, you jerked off to it too, didn't you? Seems pretty gay to me."
I could tell he was trying to get under my skin. But I wasn't going to let him. These kind of attacks didn't phase me anymore, having gone through it during high school. Sure, it all stopped when Samantha and I went steady, but it's not like I even took it as an insult anyway.
"Kevin, come on. I want us to go back to the normal times we were friends, before any of this shit happened." Chris sighed, starting to look completely defeated.
"Normal? We were never normal you idiot! Holy hell you were looking at images of furs fucking buildings and reading stories of shoving tiny furs down your cock, getting off on it. That isn't normal! You were a freak to begin with!" He practically shouted the whole time, causing Chris's ears to go fully red in embarrassment.
"Did you act out that fetish too? Go to a city and see what it felt like having someone falling down that shaft?" Kevin grinned.
"Chris, just ignore him." I glared at the fox.
"I did. I got to do a lot of the shit you dreamed about. And I can tell you this. It. Was. Amazing. Squirming down the whole way. Probably died of suffocation, but I still was able to get head from one of the fem giants and blow them right back into her gullet. Come on, you loved those kind of stories." He laughed. I could see Chris's shoulders shaking, the exposer was taking its toll on him.
"Chris, go ahead and go for a walk. I'll watch him by myself." I put a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down.
"Kevin, you're my friend. Please, can't you just see what you are doing is wrong?" He was begging at this point.
"Careful bout that walk, he got a story written once of himself crushing furs as he trampled through a city. Pretty gory when he proudly showed it off to me. All those instances of pops."
"Dude, just shut up..." His voice went from pleading to a more harsh tone, his shaking stopping.
"So, if you end up big enough, you gonna act out that one pic you thought was so hot? The one with a horse shoving his dick into a city and completely engulfing it? Hell, if I get away from here and get that big, first thing I'm gonna do."
"Shut up!" Chris jumped forward, pinning Kevin to the ground and starting to pummel him in the face.
"Chris! Stop! No!" I grabbed and tried to pull him back, but a quick back fist to the face sent me reeling, my sore leg giving out on me as I tumbled back, crashing to the ground.
"Nicolas! Help!" I shouted across the landscape. The bear instantly picking up his head and trying to his feet. I struggled and got back up as well, trying to pull Chris off again, but he got one more punch in before Nicolas grabbed his arm, yanking the Puma up and off with ease.
"Stop! Okay! Stop!" He flailed, trying to pull himself from the grip.
"What got into you?" He growled, dropping the cat to the ground.
"I'm sorry! He just wouldn't shut up and kept telling my secrets!" Chris rubbed his arm where he was grabbed, then noticing the blood on his fist. We all looked towards Kevin, his face and head completely busted up from the cat's fist.
He also wasn't moving.
November 22nd
I thought I would get use to the increased rate of growth now, but I was sorely mistaken. Its not every day you see someone drop from mid thigh to knee level over night. Least that's how it was for me and Shawn. This left me estimating I had easily passed 2000 feet and Ronald already nearing 3000.
Course, Shawn was giving Chris a chewing out for pummeling Kevin. Kinda funny to watch someone wagging their finger and shouting at you when they barely rose above your knee. But Chris was definitely feeling horrible about it, even talking about feeling like he had to throw up after he did it.
The fox wasn't looking too good. His breathing was labored and short, and sometimes I thought I even saw it stop at times. We all thought he would get back to normal over night with our regeneration, but that didn't seem to happen. Not to mention, he hadn't grown overnight like the rest of us.
"Its most likely you gave him a concussion, or even brain damage." Shawn side, looking at Kevin's head. The fur in Chris's face seemed to be drained of color.
"I...I couldn't stop myself. He just kept going and going. I don't know what came over me..."
"Chris, it's okay." I placed a hand on his shoulder, but he immediately flinched away.
"No its not! I just killed one of oldest friends!" He shouted, looking truly scared. "What is happening to me? To us? And why can't it just stop?" He was breathing really fast, I was afraid he was going to start hyperventilating or completely flip out and run. Nicolas seemed to fear that too, stepping up behind the puma and wrapping his thick arms around him into, well, a bear hug.
"No! Stop! Why?!" He began to kick and squirm, shouting and roaring out.
"Chris! Calm down! You're panicking and he did it so you don't hurt yourself!" I stayed back so his claws didn't slash me. The smaller macros stayed further back, since one of those was more like a knife at their sizes. Deadlier for the even tinier ones.
Chris soon began to tire himself out, panting as he hunched over the best he could in Nicolas's arms, and started to cry.
"I'm a monster! A fucken monster!"
I didn't know what to say. Or how to comfort him. A simple 'no you aren't' wouldn't be convincing enough for him at this moment.
It made me realize that despite all this size and power, how useless I could still be. One of my closest friends was suffering and there was nothing I could do to help him. I felt horrible being powerless. Frustrated. Like I needed to take it out on something else.
No! No, I wouldn't do that. I wasn't going to give in to my primal self. I wasn't going to be like the rogue macros and just do whatever I wanted because I could. But at the same time, staying cooped up in one spot all day, wasn't any better for us mentally.
"Shawn, can I talk to you for a bit." I gave one more look at Chris before we moved off to the side, me squatting down to talk better to him.
"What's up bud?" He asked, still looking up a bit.
"Look, we're all at the end of our ropes here. We're trying to do our best to not act out on our impulses, but sitting around here all day, doing nothing, its just straining us mentally." It was an idea I was pondering about recently with our impulses getting stronger, ever since I wanted to pluck that skyscraper up.
"What are you suggesting?" He perked a brow.
"Look, we need a place to act out. Look at Jeff and Mary. Despite our disapproval, they at least were able to relax with their sex. Probably still doing it to. If anything, ask them if they have been having any impulses lately to destroy or wreck something." I explained.
"Are you seriously asking me to ask the military and government to let us go and rampage some cities?" He sounded shocked.
"Look at us already Chris. We've crushed homes and caused destruction simply by sleeping or taking a step. Hanolver is already uninhabitable for a good few years. Hampfton has been evacuated. Already two prime areas for us." I pleaded.
"Dude, you want to wreck these cities just for fun. That's pretty f'd up man. We'd be no better than the rogues." He shook his head in disapproval.
"Listen Shawn, I don't know how long I can keep holding these impulses back myself. And I bet Nicolas has had them as well. At least when I was fighting I felt like I was actually feeling more like myself, despite it being a fight for my life. At this rate. One of us is going to snap, and being so close to a populated city, the casualties will be immense." It was logically. At least to me, I just hoped he would see it that way too.
"I'll talk to them and we'll see where it goes. But I can't make any promises." He sighed finally. I didn't feel that was good enough.
"Chris, don't make it sound like a request. Its a warning." I said more sternly.
"Wait, what dude?" He took a step back. I reassured myself this was the best course.
"Chris, lets face it. Unless they want to wipe out the country side to just get rid of us, we're unstoppable. This demand isn't that big of a deal when you think of it. We're going to do this no matter what at this rate. So we're going to go to already abandoned cities and just take out our frustrations there. If they can evacuate anyone that could be in our path of the cities or locations, that would be for the best."
"Okay. Stop. Think about it dude. If they "agree" to this, what makes you think they just won't nuke or missile barrage you once you are in a cleared off area?" He quickly pointed out a potential flaw.
"Because, we're still on their side. They get rid of us, who is going to stop the rogue giants from attacking? You think they'd stay in one spot long enough for an attack?" I raised a brow. Chris slumped his shoulders, looking defeated.
"Okay man, you win. But they aren't going to like this." He turned and started heading towards Jeff, who was probably holding Mary.
I didn't feel right with it either, but as I looked back at Chris, sobbing, it was the only thing I could think of that could help. That night when we did act on his fantasies, he actually looked to be having the best time of his since growing, and maybe with Kevin picking at that, and twisting it, is why it was so easy to set the puma off. We need more to do, and since we weren't being sent out to take care of rogue macros, this was the next logical step.
I sat down and thought it over once more though, and how I even talked to Shawn. What if I was already giving in and manipulating for something that was truly harmful? What if I was already losing control?
It then occurred to me that I was talking to myself a lot lately, and thinking on this way to much. No, I was right to demand for this. We weren't going to last much longer at this rate and innocent people didn't have to get hurt.
I nodded to myself once more. I made the right call. I knew I did.
A lot of things were about to happen.
November 23th
The next morning, I took a deep breath with what I was planning. Slowly sitting up, I survived my surroundings to try and determine my size. Sadly, I couldn't tell very well with having been sure to move back from the city once more. So turned to my side to get up.
"Watch it!"
I instantly froze, not wanting to move another inch. I turned my head slowly to look down, noticing Chris was apparently trying to approach me, and I had almost crushed him under my hand.
"Holy shit! Chris! I'm so sorry!" I moved my hand back, making sure to look around where I was putting it this time to make sure I wasn't going to crush anyone else.
"Its fine Bud, I shouldn't have gotten so close without giving you a heads up." He rubbed the back of his head.
"I assume this is about my demand?" I asked, staying on my side since it was easier to talk to him. He looked liked a slightly larger action figure to me.
"First, they don't like it, and I don't like it. But...they'll allow it. For now. If it goes too far though, they will use force. Despite you saying how you are invincible, they still feel they can take you out if needed, and it seems they are willing to sacrifice a few for the many, if need be." He crossed his arms and spoke. I nodded at the seriousness of the ordeal, and couldn't blame them.
"Okay. They can give us locations they know are evacuated or already in ruin. If we run into any of the rogue macros, we'll take them out as well and bring them back." I explained, starting to stand up. I'll admit, I did like watching him having to slowly tilt his head up more and more just to look me in the face. Now at my full height, I could see he was basically knee high to me, which would put me around...
"holy shit....3000 feet...." I whispered. Shawn slowly nodded.
"Yeah, and Nicolas is still bigger than you. That bear is gonna break a mile any day now." He pointed behind him where Nicolas was still snoring. Kevin was nearby him, but now that the fox looked even smaller, it was getting harder to tell if he was even still breathing.
"Please tell me they made progress." I sighed down. But Shawn only shook his head. I sighed.
"Okay. Well then, I'm going to take Chris to Hamfton to try and get out his urges before we get too big. We'll be back tonight." I started to walk over to the sleeping puma, who was curled up in a fetal position. He probably cried before he fell asleep.
"Hey, Chris, wake up." I shook his shoulder gently. His eyes slowly peeked open, looking over at me.
"Something wrong?" He said lowly, though not moving.
"No, everything is fine. Figured you might want to go for a walk instead of being stuck here." I gave him a tug on the arm to get him up.
"Man, I really don't want to okay? Take Nicolas instead." He tried tugging his arm back, but I held on.
"Nope. Me and you. Lets go." I tugged him again and heard him sigh before getting up.
"Bryant. I'm really not in the mood." His eye gave a brief glance over to Kevin.
"Look. I got permission to go wreck a city. So lets go wreck it. Clear out minds. Do some stuff." I winked at the end. He only looked down at the ground.
"I don't think I should."
"Look, we both need it. Its been really tense lately so we can just let loose and have some fun." I put my arm around him, starting to lead him away. Again he sighed, saying nothing but just going with it.
It didn't take long to reach Hamfton like it did the first time. Thinking back, we walked here when we were below a thousand feet. I wanted to say it felt like ages ago, but it was barely five days. Over 2000 feet just in five days, and the growth was still accelerating. I could be a mile tomorrow possibly. I shiver went down my spine. Was that in fear, or was I actually excited for it?
We finally came to Hamfton, the city looking mostly untouched except for the area I had damaged during the fight between me and Kevin.
"Okay, so what do you want to do first?" I asked, looking towards Chris.
"I don't know. I just don't feel into it."
I looked at the city, walking towards it and reaching down. When I first was tempted to pick up a skyscraper, it looked liked a model building. Now, even the tallest barely managed to get up to my shins. I reached down, gripping it carefully by its base and started to rip it up, a feeling of exhilaration going through me at what I could do. It was just...so cool! I could feel my tail twitching excitedly as I stood back up, looking over the building. Other than a few broken windows, it looking mostly intact. I took it back to Chris and held it out for him.
"Look, mostly intact. Go ahead, use it for whatever you want."
He looked down at it, but refused.
"Its not that easy. I just can't." His shoulders slumped. Well, that meant I had to be more aggressive then. I stepped closer and lowered the tower, only to grind it against his balls with the palm of my hand, groping.
"Dude what-" He tried to step back, but I slipped my foot behind him, causing him to trip backwards. The boom was probably heard from miles as cracks formed in the earth. I easily went with him, staying on top and continued my ministrations. I could see the panic and pleasure in his eyes as he squirmed under me.
"You just crushed thousands of homes merely with your body laying down. And if your balls weren't in my hand, you've would've crushed more." I teased, trying to narrate his own story. He continued to squirm under me, but I could feel his sheath plumping up, his tip probably peeking out by now.
"Bryant, stop!" He roared out, his muscles tensing before he actually flipped me off, landing me hard on my butt before jumping up onto me, pinning my shoulders to the ground and snarling. I actually felt fear gripping my throat, knowing that one snap of his teeth and I was dead.
And then, he kissed me.
I was shocked, wondering if this is what he felt when I did it to him. No, this was different. This felt...passionate. Not a one and done. I didn't even try to force him off but instead embraced it, letting my body relax and kiss just as hard back before he finally broke off.
"I'm sorry. But after that other night. I couldn't stop thinking about it and you. I'm not gay, just bi. I didn't tell you because-"
I grabbed the back of his head.
"I don't care." And brought him down for another kiss, slipping my other hand to grope his rear. I never thought a guy would turn me on, but maybe I didn't know myself as well as I thought.
Needless to say, Hamfton was wiped off the face of the world that day.
November 24th
I woke up the next day, but didn't open my eyes. I didn't want to yet. I was wrapped in Chris's arms, head laying against his chest. It was weird waking up like this for me. Not just because it was my first time laying with another man, and I still wasn't sure if I was actually gay, or bi like him. My mind was starting to buzz a lot trying to rationalize it.
I forced it out of my mind. Not now. I didn't want to think about it. I just took a deep breath, Chris's scent filling my lungs. He smelled nice. My head laid against his chest. I didn't know because he had grown and I hadn't, or just how we fell asleep. I didn't care. I just wanted to lay here forever, listening to his heart beat. I tried to think of a time me and Samantha had laid like this, just being together, snuggling. I honestly couldn't think of one. Usually after a few rounds of sex, we parted and slept on different ends of the bed.
The more I thought about my previous relationship, the more I began to wonder if we were really in love, or was it just a friends with benefits thing? We went on dates sure, bought each other gifts, but...why did it now seem we were just going through the motions of what a couple were suppose to do? We never divulge some of our personal secrets to each other, the opposite really. Unless it was a surprise, we lied to each other constantly. Sure, we yelled at the other when the truth came out, and said we wouldn't do it anymore from then on, but we did. Case in point, when I first started growing.
Chris hadn't lied to me since I met him. Just the opposite, he shared some of his deepest secrets and fantasies with me. Sure, he had done it with Kevin, but he knew him for most of his life. I was a complete stranger. And after getting to know each other, he believed in me to keep his secrets. Not only that, he didn't even ask for anything in return. I still hadn't told him any of my secrets that even Samantha didn't know. Again it came around to me and her.
Maybe me getting so big, and the likely hood of a cure not being found rising, she finally had an excuse to break up with me. Maybe that's what we were both looking for the whole time. Something to happen so we could break up.
It, actually felt good to come to that conclusion. I rubbed my head into Chris's chest a bit, gripping him a bit tighter with my arms and giving out a sigh of relief. He slowly drew in a deep breath himself, his tail twitching as I felt his toes flex. I finally opened my eyes, looking up at him as he opened his.
"Morning." I smiled up. He really did look handsome from this angle. If he did keep growing and I stopped, I could get use to him looming over me, looking down with those caring green eyes, knowing he would never purposefully hurt me no matter how small I got.
Well, I think I just discovered one of my fetishes.
"Morning. How late is it?" He yawned, smiling down at me.
"No idea, just woke up." I let out a little sigh, pulling away and sitting up, looking around at my surroundings. We were laying basically in the center of what was Hamfton. The place was completely destroyed now from last night. We had done whatever we wanted as we made out, Chris helping me learn some new tricks as well. I never did a 6-9 before, and it was my first time being on the receiving end of anal. Sure, I had done it with Samantha just to experiment during one of our make out sessions, but my butt really felt sore now. I think I know why she didn't want to do it anymore after that.
"Hey Bryant." Chris looked up at me, still laying down.
"Yeah?"
"Are we still okay? I know last night was pretty sudden and all..." He started to look ashamed.
"Chris, if this is turning into a relationship, I don't want to start it off with a lie. Thinking bout my time with Samantha, we did that a lot to each other, and looked what happened." I sighed, taking a deep breath. "I'm honestly feeling confused at the moment. I don't know how I should feel exactly. This is a big shift for me. A month ago I was making out with my girlfriend, and having sex with another male was way out of my mind. I like you, I may even love you. But I don't want to rush into it so fast until I really know, okay?" I rubbed my upper arm as I spoke. I was so afraid of hurting him after all this.
He sat up as well, leaned in and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"That's fine. I'm not going to force you into anything. If it doesn't work out, we can still be friends, right?" He stood up, holding his hand out for me.
Holy fuck this guy was too good for me. Why couldn't I have met him first before Sam?
"Yeah." I blushed as I took his hand and stood up.
"You know, its cute when you blush." He smirked.
"Hey!" I playfully punched him in the shoulder, causing him to laugh. It was weird. We were probably over 3000 feet tall, but it felt like everything was normal.
"I think this is the first time I've seen you laugh since meeting you." I smirked. He shrugged.
"Its been really depressing up to this point. I think this is the happiest I've been." He smiled. A actual, true smile. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
"What happened to not rushing into this?" He smirked.
"I'm slowly being convinced." I winked. "Now, I guess we should head back. Everyone is probably wondering where we are."
"Are we gonna tell them...?" He flushed red.
"I don't think they need to know. Not yet anyway. Chances are we probably made the news with the tremors we sent out." I shrugged.
"We'll give them real tremors next time." He gave my butt a grope as we started to walk.
We were not prepared coming back to the others.
"So, its what we figured." Nicolas said, looking up at me. I was speechless. I had to tilt my head down to look at the tank of a bear for the first time ever.
Nicolas had stopped growing.
"I'm...the biggest?" I gulped, the realization hitting me like a truck. Nicolas was at least half way to 4000 feet, that meant, I had to be either just hitting it, or damn near. Chris too. Tomorrow, it would be a mile...
I started to feel light headed, Chris quickly grabbed and steadied me.
"Looks like it bud. Just don't let it get to your heads." Shawn almost had to shout up, the roo barely came up to my knee now. "So what were you two doing that you stayed out all night?"
"Well, we just had a lot of pent up aggression to get out." I casually rambled off.
"Yeah. Though...I don't think anyone is going to be living in Hamfton for awhile..." Chris rubbed the back of his neck.
"Glad you seem to be doing better at least." Nicolas nodded.
"Also...has Kevin woken up?" That concerned look came back on his face. Both Nicolas and Shawn shook their heads.
"Definitely thinking its a coma at this point. He doesn't show any physical injuries at all. So it has to be damage to the brain. Least we now know the limit to this healing factor." Shawn sighed. "Sorry bud. Hopefully if a cure if found soon, we can shrink him and get him real medical help."
Chris slowly nodded.
"No, I understand. I know what I did was wrong. I'm just, going to sit by him and talk, maybe he can at least still hear me." He nodded and walked towards the unconscious fox.
"So what really happened over there?" Shawn perked a brow. I was taken back.
"What do you mean?"
"Spill it. He's like a whole different cat." Nicolas rumbled. Damn, this wasn't good.
"Okay, look, he's still embarrassed about the whole fetish thing. We jerked off in front of each other, and did a little RP to spice it up, me just making up a story as he went on, okay? Please don't tell him I told you guys." I quickly lied. Well, partial at least. They both looked at me, trying to tell if I was still lying. I had no idea if I had any tells, but I kept the most innocent face I could muster for someone who was supposedly spilling a secret.
"As long as you didn't break you're own rule, okay." Shawn wagged a finger. "But the military will have their satellites up soon. Just a warning." Shawn cautioned. Great, like I needed the military and government seeing me and Chris making out.
"Anyway, rest up. We got work tomorrow."
"What's going on?" I questioned, looking down.
"With communications coming back up, we've been able to locate more of the rogue macros. So, we'll be going hunting." Nicolas crossed his arms, getting serious.
"They also found the leader. That wolf with two different colored eyes." Shawn added in. "He's still growing as well, and is just barely bigger than you. So he'll be your target."
"Great..." I looked towards Chris as he sat there beside Kevin. Just when I was starting to feel happy again.
This couldn't get any worse.
November 25th
The next morning, everything was different for me and Chris. Yeah, we had basically broken a mile in height, but to really be in that moment was surreal. Long ago I wasn't able to see cars and even the basic house anymore. Homes were mere dots, skyscrapers now looked like game pieces. Roads have long ago become just mere lines for me to follow, and even then they were becoming hard to see.
The land itself was a completely different experiences. I didn't see trees, crops, or anything like that anymore. I was just starting to see colors and how they were laid out. Kinda weird really, but fascinating see where a corn field started and stopped, only to go either to a grassy field or most likely another crop. And as I thought about that, at this rate of growth, cities would be just gray splotches to me. Then there were my fellow giants.
Mary had finally left my field of view as well as the other macros that were originally at this city. Jeff was quickly approaching the same fate with me as well, no more than a tiny figurine to me now. Shawn had dropped to below my knees, now action figure sized. And Nicolas? He was staring at my stomach.
My only anchor now was Chris, now the third tallest fur in the world. Either one of us was going to stop shrinking, or we would continue to grow together forever. The thought actually caused my heart to thump a bit harder in my chest.
All of that was going to have to wait though as Shawn explained the plan to us, and gave us some information on our target.
"Wait, you're kidding right? He's ex-military?" Chris and I both stared dumbfounded at the roo sitting on Nicolas's shoulder.
"Yeah. Markus Grayson. Dishonorable discharge. After he was kicked out, joined a fringe militia called the furs of truth. Sadly, no one took into account people in this militia growing and causing furs to join his cause. He knew exactly where to hit to cripple communications across the landscape." Chris rubbed his forehead, the news was pretty troubling to himself.
"So then, what's the plan?" Chris asked.
"You three are going to take him down." I had never seen Shawn's face look so stern before. "This guy is trained to kill. One on one you wouldn't stand a chance. Despite Nicolas having stopped growing, his strength would still be unmatched in a fight. Also, you need to find him today. We cant risk anyone more of us not growing and him continuing."
We all nodded.
"Got it. We'll find and capture him and keep him under guard till a cure is found." I nodded.
"No. There is no capturing here. He isn't meant to come out of this fight alive." The roo said grimly. I clenched my fists. I didn't like killing. The skunk and tiger were just a fluke, Kevin nearly died by Chris's hands.
"I know. But this guy is insane, and is too great a risk to let live. He could kill everyone in the world at the rate you are all growing. He has to be stopped." Chris sighed. All three of us looked at each other, knowing he was right, and nodded.
"Okay Shawn. We'll do it." I sighed.
"Good. Here's where he was last sighted."
We traveled in silence at first, thinking bout what we had to do. Even when Hanolver fell, none of us had killed. My own kills were a last resort and accident, and that's how I was rationalizing it. Any of the other macros they were leaving alone for now, knowing we could subdue them with our sizes. This guy would never stop, and had to be put down.
"We should think of a plan." Nicolas finally spoke up.
"Yeah, I figured Chris and I would rush him, and you try to get behind and grab him around the neck." I suggested.
"Don't think that should be me. I can't jump that high with this much bulk. And I'm a lot slower. If anything, I should be charging forward, and you two trying to grab him. I can take a hit." Nicolas recommended. Both of us looked at Chris for any input.
"I'll go with whatever you guys suggest. I'm not good at thinking of a plan." He rubbed the back of his head.
"Okay, well, I agree you can take a hit Nicolas. But maybe we don't have to start fighting right away. Maybe we can trick him into thinking we are on his side and catch him off guard."
"Cept he knows we fought against him when he attacked Hanolver. I don't think he'll believe we switched that easily. Plus, you said some of the smaller macros escaped when you fought that skunk. They could've warned him." Chris explained.
"Damn." I bit my pointer finger, trying to think. Nothing was big enough anymore to use as a weapon. It was purely hand to hand. Maybe we were over thinking it. It was still three to one, this wasn't like the movies where one guy could literally be a one man army.
"No tricks, no sneak attacks. We just rush him. Whoever he hits, try to grab on and hold on to that limb, don't let go. The other two can pile on and we try to subdue him. Then we choke or try to break his neck, crack his skull, whatever." I finally figured out. The other two nodded.
"Okay, that makes sense. Now we just have to find the bastard." Chris sighed, looking around. It never really occurred to me by now to look at my feet to watch where we were going, though at the same time, it didn't matter. Its not like we would really be able to avoid everyone and everything. That just meant I probably crushed innocent furs under my paws.
The thought started to sicken me, but faded. It was just how it was now. There was nothing I could do. Did I ever concern myself at my normal size about accidentally stepping on bugs or watching me step? No, I didn't. It was the same thing now.
Holy shit. Did I just compare normal furs to insects? Had I really grown that disconnected with the rest of the world. The others didn't seem to be thinking the same as me, or were doing a real good job hiding it. I started to feel sick again. We really were like them.
No, stop. There's no other choice. Nothing can be done. Its not your fault. You aren't like them and doing it on purpose. You at least know and acknowledge that what is happening is wrong. They believe they are in the right. Your morals are completely different.
I nodded to myself. Yeah, that was the difference between us. We understood what was happening to us was an unfortunate event that we were just victims to. Markus wanted to use it to abuse its power and kill at his leisure. He had to be stopped.
Night quickly began to fall, and we were getting worried. At our sizes, we should've been able to see him at some point. The land was in total cause. Large footprints were scattered about, stomped deeply into the land. Hills were torn asunder, and any cities we ran into were utterly decimated.
"You don't think he circled around and went after the city, do you?" Chris whispered.
"No, we would've seen him. It just means he has been expecting us to come for him eventually, hence tracks going everywhere." I concluded.
"Its getting late, we have to find him soon. You could start growing, or not, at any minute." Nicolas reminded us.
That's when it hit me. I never did experience the growth first hand, just woke up after it occurred. I wondered if Nicolas ever experienced it himself, or anyone for that matter.
The night wore on, the full moon starting to reach its peak, almost midnight. And finally, there he was. A white figure in this blackness, raising his foot high and slamming it down into the ground into another city, sending up a cloud of dirt. He turned and smirked, those two different colored eyes seeming to gleam in the moonlight.
"So, they finally sent someone to come after me. Good..." He licked his fangs, a sick smile on his face. "These cities were starting to get boring. I wanted to feel something crunch in my hands!"
He was truly too far gone now. His eyes were completely deranged. His fur had dark patches of blood at his hands and paws, mostly likely from crushing smaller macros. He had to be stopped.
"Okay guys, like we planned." I braced my feet into the ground, ready to charge. But before I could, my body started to feel strange. Oddly hot. It started from my chest, and began to spread throughout the rest of me. And once it did, I could visibly see the world starting to fall away from me.
We were growing.
November 26th
My body didn't feel like it wanted to move as I watched the ground start to drift away from me slowly at first, but starting to pick up speed. I looked forward to see Markus was too.
"Shit! We have to stop him now!" I shouted to the other two, looking to my left, only to see Chris was starting to drop lower and lower compared to me.
"Shit..."
We all charged forward, the wolf had his eyes focused on the sky, seeming loss in the bliss of the growth, starting to laugh.
"Yes! Bigger! BIGGER! Make me a GOD compared to these insects!" He roared up, his head snapping forward, seeing us sprinting straight for him. He bared his fangs, letting out a slobbering snarl as he charged as well. I tried to predict who he was going to go for first, and where he would strike, but it was completely unknown.
Once close enough, I threw a punch, trying to hit him square in the face. It was too telegraphed though as he ducked, ramming his elbow into my sternum. I gasped and stepped backwards, clutching my chest in pain, completely forgetting to try and grab the arm. Chris leaped forward, trying to grab his other arm and pull him down, but the wolf easily started to pull back, showing off his thick muscles.
"Pathetic!" He roared, bringing back his free fist. Nicolas quickly tried to jump up and grab on to it, to hold it back, but the size difference was starting to quickly become apparently as the growth continued. Even to me he was starting to look more and more like the size of a child as Markus ignore him, still bringing his fist forward and nailing Chris straight on the snout, causing him to cry out in agony and grab his nose, blood pouring out.
"Chris!" I charged forward just as he turned his attention to Nicolas, spearing him in the stomach. Nicolas fell off as we went to the ground, causing fissures to split the earth. I quickly got on top and start to wail on him with both fists, punching his head side to side as the ground continued to dwindle before us. Despite that, he quickly reached up, grabbing my head and pulling me down, headbutting me.
My vision went blurry as a loud ringing went throughout my head. I couldn't defend myself as he pushed me off, but Chris was ready, pouncing and trying to dig his claws into the wolf's neck, clutching as hard as he could. Nicolas was up and quickly grabbed the arm, trying to hold it down in some arm lock, despite it still growing.
"Get off of me you weaklings!" The wolf choked out, grabbing Chris by his throat with his free hand and starting to squeeze.
The wolf must've already been in peak condition before the enhancements from the growth. Despite not getting as big as Nicolas, those muscles were hard as a rock and densely compact. He made not look as muscled as Nicolas, but he must've been as strong, if not stronger. I felt that when I just slammed into his abs.
Chris held on as long as he could, but the grip must've been too much for him as he quickly let go, starting to claw at the hand, trying to get it off. I saw as his eyes were starting to roll back in his head, tears streaming down his face as he gasped for breath, that hand only encircling his throat more and more as the wolf continued to grow.
I got up to my feet, trying to push the pain aside as I knew I had to rely on the one trick that got me out of all my fights up to this point. I ran forward, and brought my foot back, bringing it forward as hard and fast as I could straight into his balls.
Markus's howl must've went up ten octaves as he immediately released Chris, tossing him to the side with a snarl as he threw Nicolas off next, trying to roll out of the way.
"Aim for any soft parts! Play dirty if you have to!" I groaned, feeling dizzy as I tried to follow up, jumping on his bank and wrapping my arms around his neck. But before I could get a good grip, he quickly grabbing one of my arms, trying to pull it back.
"I'm going to rip out your throat you maggot!" He gasped, gripping harder. It felt like my bones were about to snap under that vice. Chris came running up from behind, going for his balls once more, but Chris probably felt him coming, his leg kicking out and striking the puma right in the ribs, he flew back, blood vomiting from his mouth as he landed hard on the ground, rolling.
"Chris!" I screamed in horror, trying to think what else I could do as Nicolas hobbled forward, striking the wolf in the gut as hard and fast as he could as I kept him on all fours. It didn't seem effective at first, but Markus gave up trying to hold back my arm and let go, whipping his fist back and striking the bear in the side as hard as he could. Nicolas seemed to bend like a U as the white furred forearm pinned his arm to the side of his body, a sickening crack could be heard as he went rolling as well.
I looked on in horror, my mind racing. With my arms free, I clutched my right arm around his throat, holding and tightening the grip with my left. Then, with all that I could, I bit into his ear, feeling my sharp buck teeth easily pierce through, blood starting to pour out. He howled once more, starting to stand and take me with him. If I wasn't fighting for my life, I would've been amazed at the display of strength.
He swung me back and forth, trying to pull my arms off as he gasped out for breath, but I held on like my life depended on it, because it did. Seeing it wasn't working, He jumped backwards, slamming me into the ground. I gasped out for breath, feeling myself sinking into the earth as it tried to take our combined weight, but held on regardless. He began to slam his elbows into my sides, spouting curses as he thrashed to get free. All I could do was try to arch back even more, doing whatever I could to close that windpipe. My muscles felt like they were on fire as I squeezed harder than any other time in my life. It finally seemed to be working as his blows were getting weaker, less frequent.
"I..can't..." His last words as his arms fell to his side. I still didn't let go. Keeping the same pressure as long as I could, even when I felt my own arm was about to break off.
How long I did I couldn't tell, but once I reached my limit, I released, panting in disbelief. That had to be it, right? It was over. No way anyone could hold their breath that long. Not even a soldier.
I groaned and pushed him off, rolling over onto my stomach as I looked up, seeing Chris trying to stand and move towards me. The his front covered in blood from earlier.
"Oh god, Chris!" I rushed forward, falling to my knees as I grabbed him before he fell over, holding him tight. I started to cry into his shoulder, never before feeling so scared for myself or someone else in my life.
"Careful, definitely a few broken ribs." He groaned, patting my back. I did so, not wanting to cause further damage. I reluctantly released, still trying to hold him up. Its then I noticed that I was no longer growing finally, and saw that even being on my knees, I was looking Chris face to face, with him standing straight up. I had basically doubled in height. The growth was speeding up once again.
"Nicolas!" I gasped, looking over towards the bear. He was laying motionless on the ground. I sat Chris down and ran over, the bear was barely knee high to me now as I carefully rolled him over, his face contorted in pain.
"Nicolas, speak to me!" I tapped the side of his muzzle carefully with two fingers. His eye cracked opened as he looked up, gripping the arm Markus had hit.
"I take it its over?" He winced, coughing up some blood.
"Yes, I choked him out. How bout you? Are you going to make it?" I had feared I was going to land on him when I was slammed back into the ground, but the blow from Markus must've been strong enough to push him far enough away. He nodded up.
"My arm is completely broken though, maybe a rib or two." He winced, gasping for breath.
"Don't breath. Neither of you. Just rest and let the regeneration take place." I sat back, feeling light headed, most likely having a concussion from the headbutt. I was forced to sit back on my butt, then fell flat on my back, staring up at the night sky. No clouds blocked the view of the stars, but they kept spinning for me, then everything went black.
"No, they aren't dead, but in pretty rough shape. Report that to them."
I faint voice spoke somewhere.
"Wait, I think he is starting to wake up! Bryant! Bryant! Can you hear me?" A moan escaped my lips as I rolled my head to the side, opening my eyes, barely making out a blurred figure. Just the morning light caused me take a sharp breath and close them immediately, groaning once more.
"Bryant, say something! How bad is it? Is he dead or just unconscious?"
"Dead..." I muttered, still not wanting to move.
"Dead. Tell them he's dead." The voice said again. If it was someone doing the telephone system, it had to have been Shawn talking to me. But why did he sound so far away? Had the concussion affected my hearing somehow?
I slowly opened my eyes once again, trying to get use to the small amount of light at first.
"The others are still out. Nicolas is breathing really heavy. Do you know the extent of their injuries?" The brown blur before me said. I blinked my eyes and brought a hand up to rub them, trying to focus. That's when I saw just how small he was to me now. Barely bigger than one of my fingers. That explained sounding so far away.
"Both have broken ribs, Nicolas's arm is broken. I think I have a concussion and maybe a bruised rib." The pain was starting to finally get to me from where I took the elbow hit, but definitely not broken at least.
"Broken ribs, for the other two, Nicolas has a broken arm and Bryant a concussion." He repeated to someone. My brain was still searing in pain as I thought who. Probably Jeff and maybe Mary. I wanted to say more, to tell them we were okay. But everything was going hazy again, and I couldn't stay awake.
The next time I woke, it was late in the afternoon. Peeking open my eyes, I could faintly see lights down below, some trained on me. Shawn was sitting down, but someone must've pointed that I was awake and he got up.
"How are you feeling?"
"Like shit" I groaned, not wanting to move, for fear I may crush someone.
"That's what the others said." He nodded, looking towards where both Chris and Nicolas were laying near each other. "Seems at least any internal injuries have already healed, but bones are going to be a bit it looks like."
"Shawn, where can I move so I don't crush anyone?" I asked.
"Sitting straight up is fine. The military personnel that came along are near me and Jeff. So just stay away from here and you'll be fine."
I nodded and stood, starting to take in my surroundings at my new height. This growth spurt was huge, not like the others. If I was a mile tall before, I was probably nearing two now. That wasn't all. Chris had stopped growing as well, which meant I was now the largest macro in the world.
No, this wasn't a time for that. I didn't want to think about it. All I wanted to do was hold Chris one more time because somehow, I knew, this was going to be the last time I got to.
November 27th
I woke up remembering I had cuddled up to Chris last night, but no longer felt him in my arms. My eyes snapped open, starting to panic as I may have grown over him. I knew the wrong thing to do would be to start moving around, trying to find him. At worse I would end up crushing him.
"Chris? Chris!" I quickly covered my mouth, realizing how loud I would sound.
"Here!"
My ears swiveled towards the voice, finally spotting the puma right at my knees. I let out a sigh of relief.
"I thought I crushed you..." I slowly reached forward, picking him up in one hand gently.
"Whoa...!" He gasped, looking as the ground faded away. My heart sank at the size difference now. How fast was I going to grow now? Chris was barely action figure size to me, would he disappear from my view tomorrow? Would I ever stop growing?
"What's wrong Bryant?" Chris could definitely see the concern on my face.
"I'm scared Chris. How big am I going to get? When is this going to end?" I could feel tears starting to form at the corners of my eyes.
"Bryant. Calm down. Everything will be fine. You still got me." He started to rub my finger to try and calm me. How I wanted to hold him tightly to my chest, but it was too dangerous. I would crush him, and so easily too. Just holding him in my hand I could feel how fragile he was to me now.
I was scared. What I could do, how unstoppable I basically was, I mean, could even a nuke hurt me now? Yeah, it could most likely. I wasn't that large...yet.
I started to take some deep breaths, trying to calm down, and brought Chris to my chest and slowly and carefully as I could, hugging him like a stuffed doll, but gently. I felt him grip my fur and hug back as best as he could.
Carefully I released him, leaning back so I could at least still view him.
"How are your and Nicolas's injuries?"
"I'm still sore, probably bruised, but it seems my ribs mended. Nicolas is still in a bit of a rough shape with his arm at least. It must've been shattered in multiple areas. He still can't move it, but at least his ribs have repaired themselves." Chris explained before looking up and down my body. It was weird just being in a moment like this. I honestly wondered how it felt for him, able to actually walk on someone far larger than him. I actually felt jealous of him. I could see myself traversing those brown fur plains, getting loss in his scent and warmth, under his watchful gaze. And maybe, in a moment of privacy, I would even cuddle up and tease that sheath of his, just wanting him to feel loved and happy.
Instead, the roles were reversed, and he seemed completely in awe. I could feel his paws flexing into my fur, feeling its texture against his pads. It was probably like a soft carpet to him right now. I couldn't help but imagine if I were to get bigger that those strands of fur would start to eclipse him, seeing him staring up in awe as he would get lost just being on me. Then, I replaced him with myself being lost on him. How those short fur strands would look like redwoods to me. I was really starting to see why he liked this size stuff more and more.
"You know Bryant, I'm kinda jealous of you." He looked back up at me. I went wide eyed.
"What? Why?"
"I mean, you know me. I'm a size freak. I know you don't like it, and how dangerous it is being so huge but...I just wanted to experience ya know? Just how far could I go, if there were no repercussions of course..." He started to realize what he was saying and looked away. "I'm sorry."
"Its okay. I'm just hoping the government and military are evacuated everyone as best as they could, however hard it may be since we don't know how big I'll keep getting. I'm going to kill innocents Chris, and I can't stop myself." My tone grew dark at the realization. Maybe the military should nuke me and get it over will before I killed millions. It would at least save more in the end.
Again, Chris noticed my look and walked up to my face.
"Hey, stop thinking whatever you are thinking. Everything is going to be alright? Got it?"
"How can you be so-" I stopped as he stood on his toes, kissing my lips, causing me to flush.
"Chris, the others..."
"Fuck it. I don't care. I love you Bryant. I know you are still conflicted, but I would love it that once this is all over, you'd move in with me and make me the happiest puma in the world."
My heart skipped a bit, and being so large I was afraid he was able to feel it.
"Chris, I...I don't know what to say..."
"Just say 'yes' bun." He kissed my lower lip once more, and I kissed more passionately back, almost pushing him over.
"Yes. Yes I will love."
November 28th
The next morning, things only seemed to get worse for me. Chris had fallen asleep on me that night, and when I woke up, I made sure to be extra careful. It was kinda hard to see him at first, but I found him laying on my chest, just staring up in awe at my new size. I had to remember he was nearly a mile tall at the moment, and to me he was barely bigger than a finger.
"This is just...wow..." I barely heard him gasp up.
"Yeah. Wow." I muttered, my voice itself causing him to cover his ears, being so close.
"Sorry." I whispered.
"Could you put me on the ground big guy? The others might need me to talk to you." He stood up fully, looking around from the new height. I nodded, gently picking him up between two fingers as gently as I could, placing him on the ground.
I could barely see Nicolas now, but he seemed to be testing his arm, finally getting some function back into it. That was a relief.
And still, just a few days ago, I was looking up at him, amazed at his size and strength. Now, it was nothing compared to me. To me, he basically was an insect, and anyone smaller was less than that. I felt horrible thinking those thoughts, but it was true. I had basically given up hope that I was going to stop growing. Chances are, by the end of the week, I would be bigger than the planet itself at this rate.
It really just left me with the question why? Why was I bothering to still hold back? Why not just go and explore to see how the rest of the world looked from this perspective.
Because, it wouldn't look much different than it does now I figured. City were just becoming gray masses in a fields of green and yellows. Honestly, it was like I was starting to see the world as a map itself, the splotches of blues being bodies of water, and even the mountain range near me was comparatively small. If anything it was the only thing large enough anymore to compare myself to. Course, if I wanted to do that, I would have to stand up and walk over to them, something I don't those below would like without some warning. But, I could at least try to visualize what they looked like to me, and honestly, it was like something a student would bring to a science fair.
I wonder what it would be like to see an avalanche happen simply brushing my finger along the top? Another horrible thought, but I knew better. If anything, it made me glad I had fur so I wasn't freezing being so high up. Hell, it made me question even how I was able to breathe at the moment. Usually mountain climbers needed tanks of air to make it up a mountain and reach its peak because of how thin the air was. But I was still breathing fine. Another side effect of whatever was growing me?
I didn't care. Nothing made sense once we started growing, so why question it now?
I finally looked down near me to see Chris trying to get my attention, probably for some time now since his arm waves were starting to get pretty slow. Reaching slowly down, I laid out my hand for him to get, gently bringing him to my face so the g-force wouldn't crush him.
"What's the word?" I whispered.
"Well, there was a dispute." He rubbed the back of his head, looking at his paws.
"About what? More rogue macros?" I asked, wondering what it could possibly be.
"Hon, they want to blow you up. They believe you're a danger even though you are trying to kill anyone."
It was like cold water was dumped all over me. So that was it. Despite all I did, all I went through, it was going to be for nothing, wasn't it?
"When are the missiles coming?" There was no emotions behind my words. I couldn't feel anything.
"No!" He screamed up. "No. We aren't allowing them, don't worry. Everyone stood by Shawn when the word came up to him. He said if any attempt on your life was taken, everyone here would all go after the military and crush them. The threat seemed to work, and they backed off. So you're safe hon."
I didn't know what to say. I couldn't believe everyone would stand up for me like that. I wanted to thank them, to just be with all of them again, but it was impossible now.
"Tell them thank you hon. I'll do my best to not cause trouble." I sighed out, not wanting to cry, knowing it could cause floods down below.
"I will. And don't worry, not only is our group helping to evacuate people near you as best as they could, but others are coming as well after hearing you taking down the Rogue leader. Any remains of that group are going into hiding as best as they could, pretty much freeing up any cities taken captive. We won." He smiled up. I smiled back, nodding.
"Good, I'm glad to hear it." I bit the bottom of my lip, realizing what was going to happen tomorrow.
"Chris, if I grow after today. I won't be able to hear any of you, or communicate."
There was a bit of silence between us.
"Yeah. You know I love you right? No matter how big you get, even if you can't hear, I'll do whatever I can to protect you."
The pain I was feeling now made the pain from the fight with Markus seem like nothing. What was worse, there was no way for me to express it either, since I knew I could injure innocent people. Instead, I choked back the sobs, took a few deep breaths to suppress the tears, and nodded.
"I love you too."
November 29th
Waking up, I knew I was already causing trouble. The growth was continuing to be tremendous, my gains weren't only not stopping, but getting larger with each day. I can say this because, I could no longer see the mountain I compared myself to. I mean, I guess I barely could, but its kinda hard when your index finger could crush it simply by pressing down.
My only worry was everyone wasn't able to get far enough away from me so I didn't grow over them. I feared I may have even grown over Chris and the others. I prayed they were smart to get away as fast as they could and as far.
But what was the point? Tomorrow, I would grow again, even more than this time. Already I could see for miles on end, I think I even spotted the ocean. What could one do when clouds themselves were barely above my toe.
Again, the thoughts of how I was even existing came to mind. But I didn't care. This was it. I was alone now, unable to interact with anyone or even anything. Airplanes could crash into me and I wouldn't even feel it.
There really wasn't much more I could do. A single step I could destroy thousands, maybe even millions. And where would I go? There was no where to really explore, no new place to discovered. All that was before me was land and sea.
So I did what I could do. Laid back down with my hands behind my head and looked up at black sky, too big to even fit inside the normal atmosphere now.
Was I even alive? Had I already died and this was my own hell?
I didn't know. It sure felt like it though.
I really started to feel tired though. Maybe all this growth was taxing my system harder than I thought. And without any food, nor even wanting any, I just didn't have the energy to go.
So, I fell asleep, just praying that tomorrow this would all be over.
November 30th
Its not every day you wake up to feel your feet dipping into the ocean. I quickly drew my paws back in shock, think of how much flooding I caused from the displacement. Then I realized how much damage I was doing simply by moving as I quickly stood back up, sighing.
The size, was unfathomable. I knew I was more inland last night, but now I had grown so much I was reaching the ocean. Not only that, but if I laid down, I could probably take up the entire coastline at this size. It was ridiculously huge. And was that the curvature of the Earth? Is that how far I have come already? That I could even trot the entire globe in a matter of minutes. At this point, I doubt they would even nuke me if they could, if even that would work. They would need so many to kill me that it would probably wipe out all life as they knew it. All that was left was to hope the next day was an even greater growth spurt and I would float off the planet.
I sat down knowing that I probably crushed millions, but what could I do? Simply existing I was killing millions.
I thought back to the start of this month, how I was so excited to have grown for the first time. It was weird thinking of me that small, till the next day I realized that I wasn't done, and had to be removed from my own apartment, and taken to the camp.
I couldn't believe I was actually missing those days back at the first camp. It use to be so horrible with nothing to really do except go into the woods and wreck stuff. Course, it was where I had met Chris and Kevin. It made me wonder if I hadn't gone to ask the guards for any updates on why we were growing. I maybe Chris could've kept Kevin from joining the Rogue Macros? Maybe he would've learned that all those conspiracy theories were bunk?
But then, I would've never gotten to know Chris and...fall in love.
Sure, those first days in the woods were a bit weird when he explained his fetishes, but I just thought of them as that, fetishes. Hell, I discovered I had my own, though I would never get to live them out as he got to.
Honestly, those were the happiest times now that I thought about it. Just hanging out as we grew, getting to know each other better, I could feel my ears drooping behind my head as I thought more and more about it. Sure, talking and helping Nicolas break out of his shell, him saving my ass from the Rogue macros' attack, and knocking some sense into me when Sam and I broke up was nice and all, but Chris...I don't know. I never felt like he was judging me or looking down at me. Even when he was mad at me, I somehow knew he had already forgiven me.
Fights between me and Sam never felt like that. Nor did I ever feel a connection like I did with Chris. In the end, we may have called each other boyfriend and girlfriend, but somehow we both knew, deep down, it was really just a friends with benefits deal. Once someone real came along, it was only a matter of time before the breakup happened. If I could go back in time, I would confront her on this, and break up on that day. We shouldn't have been lying to ourselves for so long just for sex.
Hell, even Jeff and Mary were able to make their relationship work despite the size difference. We scorned them for the sexual acts, but honestly, I wish I was in Mary's place and Chris in Jeff's.
We really had been through a lot, even putting Chris through the ringer to talk to the military and convince them to let us do our own thing. Sure, he sounded a bit like he never got out of the 90s, but I could definitely see us being friends, if it was possible.
Finally, the fight with Markus. I wondered if we had waited, if he would've stopped growing at any point. Right now, I could have easily stopped him and none of us would've gone through such pain. But it was true, he could've kept growing right along side me, and the damage would be catastrophic. Fighting at this scale right now? Most of the world would be destroyed, billions killed. No, the right call was made.
I laid back down, looking up into space. No point in calling it a sky anymore, I had well grown past that. I knew I had probably snuffed out millions just doing this simple act, and it wretched my gut, but what else could I do? I was at the mercy of this size as the normal furs were to me. At least I wasn't crushing the world beneath my feet, feeling the crust give under my immense weight and changing the landscape.
Well, technically I probably just DID change the landscape sitting down didn't I? Fuck.
I just hoped Chris and the others made sure to get as far away from me as possible. If I did somehow find out I had crushed them, I wouldn't be able to take it. I would try to throw myself into the sun.
I guess that's it then, isn't it? The start of December I'll just be floating out into space. I'll try my best to nor touch the moon and knock it out of orbit, if I could still see it at least.
I was tempted to just get back up and walk around, mess with the ocean, just do what I wanted, but no. I was tired. Tired of growing, tired of being lonely, and just tired of being unhappy. I just wanted to go back to sleep and never wake up again.
Maybe tomorrow would be that day.
December 1st
Epilogue
I woke up, expecting to be floating in space by now, but instead, all I saw was white. I looked around, wander where I was, or where I could possibly be. Had I someone outgrown all of existence in one night? Or had I slept so long that I did?
No, that would be impossible, right? Though, just a month a go I didn't think growing bigger than a mountain was possible.
I tested what I thought was the floor, and found I was able to walk on it. I squatted down, checking to see if maybe there was anything tiny at my feet, but still nothing.
"You seem confused, don't worry, I was at first too."
I jumped, actually hearing another voice. Looking around, I saw no one till I turned around and saw what had to be a blue and white collie with a green book floating before him.
"Who are you? And where are we?" I was hesitant to get close to him. I mean, blue and white? Those weren't nat-
"You don't have to be rude." He quickly interrupted my thoughts. I thought maybe it was because I didn't introduce myself.
"No no. I mean saying my fur color isn't natural." He flipped a page of the book before him. Okay, now I was getting freaked out.
"Alright, answer my question. Who are you?" My eyes narrowed, watching him closely. Some mind reader?
"Sorry. I am being rude. My name is Serophous. And no, I'm not reading you mind, I'm just reading your story." He seemed to trace a finger down the page.
"Wait, reading-"
"Yes, your story. See, I'm not so sure myself what's going on exactly. I sorta stumbled onto this place during one of my experiments. It was interesting at first, finding all these different books.
"What b-"
"These books." He waved his hand, and suddenly rows upon rows of books began to stream around us, floating in the air. Curiously I picked one up, a purple cover, and began reading it. It was about some mouse who was trying to escape a gang. I flipped to the end, only to see it was blank.
"No no. You can't see how it ends if the person or world still exist. You have to find where they currently are." The weird collie explained. I gave him a look before flipping through, reading.
I had paid off most of my debt to the gang, but they seemed to still be finding the smallest thing to tack on to my debt. I had to escape somehow, perhaps I could escape the country? Shit, McCormick was coming, I had to act normal...
"What...is this?" I placed the book back, looking back at him.
"I told you, they are stories of different worlds, different people. The one in front of me, is your world's story, staring you."
"Wait, mine? Does it explain why I kept growing? Are my friends alive?" I rushed over to him.
"Well, amazingly yes, your friends are alive. Actually, the moved over to the west coast, taking all they could so you wouldn't crush them. Can't say they got everyone though..." He flipped back through the pages seeming to read through it.
"Let me see." I grabbed the book from him. It was in the third person, explaining everything happening to everyone. I found one passage talking about Chris.
Chris looked up at the titanic bunny, feeling a bit jealous. Course, he knew his love was miserable being so massive, he could only imagine the loneliness. He missed holding the bunny, that one night still fresh in his mind when they woke up together. He looked so cute cuddling into his chest. If only they had spent more time together before going to fight Markus...
I had to stop reading. I couldn't take anymore. I started flipping through the book, going back to the beginning. I had to know, what caused all the growing? What was it?
"Uhh..if you are looking for what grew you..." The collie tried to interject, but I had already reached November 1st. At the beginning, there was something scribbled in. It didn't match the font used in the rest of the book.
"Random Furs start to grow..." This makes no sense. The collie quickly seized the book from my hands.
"That's because...I wrote it in." He flipped to towards the end of the book.
"You...wrote it?" It was like I was hit by a truck. "You? You were the cause of everyone growing?"
"I didn't think it would work. Tried to stop it, but apparently I had to be very specific in my-" He stepped aside just in time as I swung my fist at him.
"You bastard!" I charged, but again he easily moved aside. The bastard was reading all my movements before I could make them!"
"That's because I am." He responded to my thoughts. My fists clenched and clenched in rage.
"You ruined my life. My home, Everything!" I yelled, trying to lunge again, despite it being homeless as just jumped aside.
"Again, I'm sorry about all that. And I'm looking to make it up to you."
"How? How are you going to make this up? What else did you change? Were you the one to cause me and Sam to break up too? Is my love for Chris fake?" I was fuming, how much of this past month was a lie?
"No, I didn't mess with anyone's thoughts or feelings. Even I have standards. All I did was write the growth idea at the beginning and the stop in the middle. Everything else was natural, no meddling from me at all."
"How can I trust you?"
"See for yourself?" He flipped the book around in the air, letting me flip through it. No where could I see any other edits after the second one. So he was telling the truth.
"So what? You reset the time? Take it back before this all happened? Then I wouldn't have met Chris..." But at the same time, I'd be with Samantha again. Did I want that? Go back to living a lie? No, I couldn't do that.
"Perhaps something else then? I'll do my best to try and make it happen."
"Like what?"
"Let's see..." He began to write at the end. It was weird seeing my own thoughts appear sooner than before I even thought them. But as I saw what he was putting down, I nodded.
"Yeah. That'll work."
The rain was pouring today as I walked up the Samantha's front door. I drew my hood a bit more up on my head and rang the door bell, waiting as the rain poured down. It was only a few minutes before she answered.
"Oh, Bryant! What are you doing here? Do you want to come in?" She stepped aside. But I stayed out, looking down for a bit.
"Sam, this isn't working, is it?"
"What do you mean?" She looked confused. Course she would.
"Sam, do you really love me? I mean actual love?"
"Chris, what are you talking about? Are you...?" She actually started to look hurt, maybe this was wrong. I shouldn't be doing this at all.
"Sam, ask yourself. All the time we spent together, were you really happy? Did you feel happy?"
She stopped, gripping the door a bit tighter as she started to think back on it.
"Bryant, we can try again, try to make it-"
"I don't think so Sam. I still want to be friends, but, its time we move on, ya know? I'm sure there is someone for you out there you can find real love with."
"Bryant, I don't know why you're doing this..." Tears were starting to come down her face, and I couldn't tell if it was rain drops going down mine, or tears as well.
"I just realized it Sam. I know if you think back on it, you'll know too. I'm sorry. But give me a call if you want to hang sometime, okay?" I pulled up my hood again, turning and starting to walk away.
It didn't hurt this time with the breakup. Maybe because I had already been through it, or because I just knew the real reason now. It took a bit, but I finally heard the door close, letting out a sigh of relief. I had somewhere else to be.
Arriving back at my apartment, I hung up my coat and walked into the kitchen just as Chris came walking out.
"How'd it go?" He asked, looking worried.
"I was okay with it, I think she'll understand after a day or so." I hugged into him, resting my head on his chest. The collie had basically rewrote the whole month, describing it as a normal November. No growing, no city destructing, nothing. The only ones who were to remember what really happened was me, Chris, Ronald, Shawn, Jeff, and Mary. Everyone else just lived normal lives.
It was weird when I got to meet Chris at his actual size and shape. It was like looking at completely different fur. He was still trim, but not as muscular as before. To be fare neither was I, something I missed. I also missed hugging into him as we were now. It felt like ages rather than a few days.
He gently hugged me back, giving a squeeze.
"So its over right? That weird collie promised he wouldn't mess with our world again?"
"Ours at least. Not sure about others. And what good his word is, I don't know either. But so far, everything is as he said it would be." I nodded. God I didn't want to move from this spot.
"Oh yeah, I invited the others over for a get together. I guess to celebrate back to our normal lives, sorta. They'll be here in an hour." He pulled away, smiling down.
"An hour huh?" I smirked. "That gives us plenty of time for a bit of fun." I smirked, concentrating. Slowly, everything around me began to expand, my clothing starting to slip off and fall to the floor as Chris began to loom further and further above me. The puma smirked down at me, tail swishing anxiously as I looked up from his ankle height.
The last gift I had asked the collie to give me and Chris, the ability to change our height, to some extent, the highest possible height for us was a hundred feet, and the smallest a mere inch tall if we wanted. We weren't immortal, but it at least allowed us to live out our fantasies.
"Oh, you are a naughty bun." He squatted down, gently picking me up in one and, hugging me carefully into his chest. I hugged back, feeling his warmth surround me. I never felt happier in my life.
"I love you bun." He whispered down, kissing the top of my head.
"I love you too."
