A female/female story involving a feral Altaria and a human. If that's not your sort of thing, then sorry, but this story probably isn't too relevant to you.

Mostly written because I like Altaria but no one ever seems to even remember she exists.

Human-Pokemon duet groups are one of those things that sound like a good idea, but usually end up seeming gimmicky in practice.

Jo, for her part, didn't shy away from gimmicky. Wearing a deep blue, shimmering suit, with large white ruffs at the edge of each of the limbs and around the neck, hair dyed white and curled to match, she was a perfect match for her stage-mate. Her Altaria (stage-name Mezzo, proper name Lania, nickname Fluffbutt) typically played up the resemblance, mimicking her human partner while the two sang, though that wasn't strictly part of the performance.

The one difference was, Jo and Mezzo were actually good at what they did. Most duet groups of the sort managed to coast on their gimmick more so than their music, because of the difficulty of teaching a Pokemon particular chords to sing. Their group worked in reverse though - Mezzo had the freedom to come up with whatever melody she liked, and her human partner would write an accompanying song to fit it.

The genre was still seen as something of a novelty by most, good music or no, and despite positive critical reception, it was enough to pay the bills and not much else. Still, this sort of work let Jo sleep well at night.

Literally. The entire concept originated out of insomnia. Sleepless nights going on for weeks at a time, throughout her life, finally solved when someone casually suggested she get a Pokemon that could learn Sing. Put her to sleep by force.

Jo couldn't even consider it a brilliant idea. It was a completely obvious idea, that somehow no one had ever thought of as a solution, including her.

From there, choosing an Altaria was obvious. A Pokemon that can learn Sing, is great for traveling around, fits in an ordinary house without special accommodation, and, of course, is basically a giant fluffy pillow. She got her proper name, Lania, when caught. She got her nickname, Fluffbutt, within the week, while Jo tried to explain the concept of being a singing pillow to her. From there, forming a duet group seemed like a pretty obvious direction to try out.

Not that there wasn't some adjustment to get used to. An Altaria's voice is easily capable of putting an attacking Pokemon to sleep, even through the fireballs, bolts of lightning, claws, blades, and other such things typically found in a Pokemon battle. In some sense, it's more similar to a general anesthetic or a coma. Though unlike an anesthetic, Jo did find that she still would dream - vividly, in fact.

The first few nights, her dreams were confused and unsure. One that she remembered vividly had her walking around in the dark, floorboards creaking, thinking that one of them could give way at any time. But she had to make it to the other side, because dream logic. Until one floorboard finally did give way, and she began falling through the darkness.

That would normally be the point where she'd have woken up, heart pounding, but the Altaria's song was still keeping her asleep, and the dream continued for a long, long time before the morning finally came and she woke up, head buried in Fluffbutt's fluff.

Still, better than staying up half the night.

Over time the dreams began to mellow out. Some just involved her sitting at home, sometimes in a rocking chair, peacefully looking out through the house. Other times she dreamed of familiar restaurants or visiting family. None were of particular note.

The next change occurred soon after the first time she and Lania (not yet as Mezzo) went up on stage together. It was hardly an impressive venue - an open mic at a bar, basically - but Lania really seemed to enjoy the attention, and Jo found herself having fun too.

That night, Jo's dream was a bit more... exciting. She was up on a proper stage. No one was watching, but that didn't seem odd to her. She was just happy to be singing. But it was cold, and she looked down to find herself naked. She ran and hid, worried someone might come in, and found a small space under the stage. Despite the scenario, she was at least as exhilarated as terrified, and the rest of the dream had her watching out between the floorboards, making sure no one came in while considering whether or not to take advantage of her nudity.

Over time the erotic aspect of the dreams overtook any feelings of fear or worry. She assumed that the dreams were a reflection of her own enjoyment of singing, but that didn't always to make sense.

After creating her first proper recordings with Mezzo (finally given her stage name), were rejected by every production label she sent them to, with some variation on the explanation "You've got talent, but we're not looking to work with any human-Pokemon duet groups."

Instead of a frustrating or discouraging dream, befitting her mood, she had a dream of herself in a costume styled after Mezzo, furiously rubbing herself as she sang out, dream logic dictating that if she could get a standing ovation, she could climax. She woke up to a strong wetness between her legs - a testament to the strength of the dream she'd just had.

The outfit from that dream, naturally, became the inspiration for her eventual stage costume, and the stage costume was enough to set her apart enough that she could start managing herself independently. It was somewhat of a blessing now that she'd been rejected by proper labels, because she didn't need to work under contract. Now she got to be the one to do the rejecting, when labels tried to pick her up.

As she began performing with the stage costume, however, the dreams changed again. There was an undefinable element of longing added in now. One had her standing in front of a glass case, holding an upgraded version of her stage costume - shimmering far more than her drab costume ever could, within her reach... But she also felt like, if she opened the case, something terrible might happen.

There was a soft singing, and Mezzo was standing next to her. The song seemed to reflect exactly how she was feeling. Jo shook her head. It wasn't Mezzo next to her - it was Lania. There wasn't a difference between the two, of course, but her mind drew the distinction anyway. Lania was her friend who sang to her each night, Mezzo was the Pokemon she worked with each day.

Something about the dream seemed too real, and Jo, suddenly realizing it was just a dream, struggled to bring herself to consciousness, though with no success. Lania was probably still singing, and she was stuck until the Pokemon fell asleep herself.

Jo finally was able to push her way to a waking state, some indefinable amount of dream-time later (how strange that it was such a struggle to wake up in the night now, considering this all began with insomnia). She felt her cheek resting against soft fluff, and she opened her eyes. It was still dark, and Lania's head was tucked forward into her cotton-like down, next to Jo's. Despite the dark, there were still very slight sparkles of light from Lania's body, the featherless parts of her body catching small amounts of moon or starlight.

The Altaria was deeply asleep, and it seemed a shame to wake her, but there was a pit in Jo's stomach. She wanted to know if her suspicions were correct.

She reached out a hand and rubbed Lania's neck softly, and the Pokemon's eyes opened. It was hard to read her expression in the dark. The woman whispered to her Pokemon.

"Lania. I want you to sing for me. Not to put me to sleep, just... Sing a little bit."

She could see the Altaria blink a few times, processing the request, before her soft, mid-range cooing voice began stringing together a melody. Jo closed her eyes and listened. It was subtle, and she would never have picked it up without her now-trained musician's ear, and her familiarity with Lania personally, but she could barely pick out the same sense of longing in her voice that she'd felt in her dreams the last few nights.

She wondered if, had she listened carefully before, if she could have picked out the excitement, or the comfort, or even the early trepidation that had seeped its way into her dreams over the years.

She wanted to lean over and kiss Lania, to let her know she'd gotten the message, but the Pokemon would probably be confused by the gesture - plus, how even would she kiss a beak? Instead, Jo decided to try something else. She stood up, and cleared a space on the floor nearby, before gesturing her Pokemon over.

"Come on Fluffbutt, let's sing!"

It wasn't a good performance. There was still little room to move about between the furniture, no crowd, Jo was in her underwear, and the two had to keep the volume down lest they wake their neighbors, but even so Lania's eyes lit up with enjoyment. The Pokemon never really cared about the public part of the performance anyway.

As the melody died down, Jo drew near to her Altaria, and placed her hand on the Pokemon's neck, rubbing it gently. The blue feathers there were smooth, in contrast to the extreme fluff of the white feathers on her body and wings - Jo always wondered if the blue sort were actually proper feathers, or modified scales - Lania was part dragon, after all.

She brought her other hand around to Lania's front. It took quite a bit of digging - not a surprising amount, given the amount of down in the area, but still a substantial amount all the same - to find what she was looking for.

She heard a soft coo from the Altaria as she slipped her finger into her slit. This area was unambiguously draconic - Jo could feel the smooth skin at the entrance, could make out the horizontal shape, and could feel the strong muscles of the Pokemon's pelvis - even if it was all covered wtih feathers.

She twitched her fingers upwards, feeling around the upper range of the Pokemon's slit for a clitoris. The Altaria's cooing grew louder, and she began to shuffle her body a bit, but Jo couldn't find anything. Maybe Altaria don't have clitorises? She wasn't too familiar with their anatomy - she really hadn't ever considered things might go this way.

Taking her hand away from her Pokemon for a moment, Jo reached up and pulled off her bra, throwing it away into the pile of dirty clothes, before also stripping off her underwear. She sat there for a moment on her knees, unsure of how to proceed, but Lania was more prepared.

The Altaria pushed herself forward and Jo cupped her arms around the Pokemon, before finally getting the hint and allowing herself to get pushed over. The Altaria, surprisingly adept, shifted her body twice, and suddenly there was a seam visible in the white feathers of her body there they were parted. She wriggled a bit more, and Jo could feel the Pokemon's slit pressing against her mons.

Jo tried to move her own vulva to press against the Pokemon's slit, but the angle was wrong, and the attempt was made more difficult by the Altaria's back and forth motions.

"Hold still a moment," Jo said, trying to find some better position for the two of them.

Eventually Jo managed to get a hold of the Altaria's left leg, and move it back behind her own right leg - creating a sort of cross position, but allowing her to get her vulva pressed against the Altaria comfortably. The position also put her a bit on her side, and she was able to brace herself with her arms.

As soon as she did so, Lania, feeling the human steady underneath her, dropped her full weight down, beginning a front-to-back rubbing motion, spreading her slit open with the motions. The Pokemon's interior flesh was smooth and slick, and she was able to slide back and forth easily without any unpleasant friction. What friction was there was far from unpleasant, in fact - the Pokemon's movements pressed well against Jo's clitoris, and she couldn't help but match them with her own - though rather than replicating the Altaria's front-to-back rubbing, Jo moved her hips side-to-side.

Lania's frequent cooing was contagious, and Jo found herself humming a counter-melody to it.

Jo began to move herself in circles, wide and slow when Lania picked up speed, and small and tight when she made larger movements, keeping the intensity high without things getting boring. There was a certain rhythm to the movement. and Lania realized she could time herself by her heartbeat.

"I wonder if we could make a song out of this." She said between heavy breaths. The Altaria's response was a lilting coo, accompanied by a particularly forceful press into Jo's hips. For a moment she could feel the Pokemon's own heartbeat, coursing through her inner thighs, before they bolt pulled back for a breather.

On the second such press, Jo heard her voice begin to crack, and felt a burning pleasure begin to develop. She reached forward and grabbed Lania's top leg, and pulled the Pokemon towards her, slit pressed tightly against vulva. She ground her clit into the Pokemon, feeling the burning sensation growing.

As she got nearer to her climax, she clenched her thighs, feeling her pelvic muscles contracting and releasing, the Altaria slit sliding along her clit. In a moment she reached the point of no return, and spread her legs wide, stroking herself heavily against her Pokemon. Her clouded mind could just barely make out the Altaria doing the same, feeling the Pokemon's muscles spasming, and hearing the slight sound of lubricating fluid sticking as they pushed together and pulled apart.

Jo found herself on the ground, hair in disarray, Lania sitting happily next to her. The Pokemon was still singing softly, a sort of low, contented warble. Jo gave the Altaria a rub on the neck, before turning to speak to her.

"I almost want you to put me to sleep right now, just so I could feel what you're feeling." Jo said. "Not that I didn't enjoy myself thoroughly, but you were waiting for this way longer than I was."

The Altaria pressed her beak against Jo's neck in response. It's nice having someone to help you sleep at night, but also nice to have someone who can keep you up at night as well. Insomnia's not so bad if it's put to a good purpose, and if it comes in moderation.

And it did come in moderation. At least until a well-meaning fan sent the duet group some Altarianite. Sleeping's overrated anyway.
