Crossroads - Zack: Chapter 10.5
#12 of Crossroads (Zack)
I was going to wait a full day to submit this last part, but there's really no reason to. This chapter marks the end of Part 1 of Crossroads and sets up the next part. You know me, I'm a sucker for drama!
And now that we're at the end of Part 1, I'd like to ask you all some questions! What scenes did you like so far (or didn't like)? Who's your favorite character and what do you think about the plot/s? I appreciate all feedback!
This story is a companion of ragewolver's Crossroads. Don't forget to check out his chapter for Charlie's side of the story!
The sounds of laughter and giddy conversation got louder as the door to the apartment opened. In strode a lean coyote with a larger husky following behind with some bags. Keys were tossed haphazardly on the stand beside the door as they continued their chat.
"All I'm saying is you seemed really fixated this evening," said Anders, hanging his coat. "I mean, you didn't take your eyes off me once."
"What can I say? You're cute when you're eating ice cream," Nathan remarked. His eyes casually swept the apartment to make sure nothing was out of order. "Seeing you sitting there with that tiny cone in your paw...and chocolate no less! That's adorable."
"More adorable than that young couple we saw?" The coyote leaned back on the kitchen counter. "The one you pointed out?"
"Way cuter." Nathan came over to lean against the fridge, facing the coyote. "Although they were pretty cute. Never thought those two would end up together, of all people."
Anders flicked his ears in intrigue. "You know them."
"Mhmm. They're in one of my classes. I don't think I've ever seen that jackal smile like that. Ever."
_ _ "I guess everyone's got surprises," said Anders. He got an odd look on his muzzle. "I still like your smile more though."
Nathan smiled widely, tail wagging behind him. "Really?"
Anders couldn't help but smile back. His husband really was cute when he did that. The coyote walked across the kitchen to embrace the husky, holding him close and looking up into those light blue orbs. Nathan was taller than him by almost a full foot. "Nathan Clive Salt. Your smile is one of the first things that made me fall in love with you. And let's not forget your good looks and a great personality to boot. I love you."
Nathan's smile became softer as he replied in kind. "Anders Martin Eriksen. I've known that you were perfect for me since the first time we talked. You're cute and funny, not to mention the sexiest man I know. From the moon and back, I love you, Andy."
Cheesy, yes, but it was the truth. Anders' heart swelled as he stood up on his toes to reach Nathan's muzzle.
The two shared a kiss and relaxed in their embrace, Anders resting his head against Nathan's chest. They stayed like that for a while, just enjoying each other's company. Nathan tilted his head down to take a whiff of the coyote's scent. His fur smelled of the floral scented shampoo he always used after work, but there was also a heady musk just barely hidden underneath. The coyote's natural scent made him shiver, invoking an...excitement further down.
His husband must have noticed the reaction because he looked up with a knowing smile. "Hmm...getting excited, are we?"
Nathan chuckled huskily. "Mhmm." He lowered his voice to a whisper and spoke into the coyote's keen ear. "You wanna get frisky tonight?"
Well, that certainly gave him a thrill. As one may assume based on his sheer size, Nathan was a naturally loud person; he was a coach after all. But when he whispered in that sexy, growly, brooding tone...that husky could get him to do anything.
"Go put away the food. I'll go get ready," Anders said with a wink and walked away toward the bedroom. Nathan grinned and watched him go, noticing the swishing tail and exaggerated sway of his hips. He picked up the bags and eagerly got to work on the food.
Ten minutes later found Nathan bouncing on his husband's dick, the mattress they shared sinking under their combined weight. Their eyes locked on one another, relishing in the pleasure they found in each other. Anders couldn't help but admire the husky's naked body on top of him. He had always loved how big Nathan was, in every sense of the word. From those heaving pecs, to the firm abs underneath, to the strong thighs that squeezed his torso on either side of him. The feeling of those thick muscled glutes as they clenched around his dick when they had hotdogged earlier was indescribable. He was just so thick and heavy and masculine, all qualities that he wanted to appreciate, to _feel,_here and now. And Nathan knew that, too.
"You like that?" There was that sexy whisper again, the one that always drove him wild. Couple that with a flash of pearly white teeth behind a cocky grin and that sentiment was made all the better. Nathan wasn't always smug and cocky like he was now. Normally, he was very calm and sweet as he had been on their date. But this was a special time for both of them; a time when they could do whatever they wanted.
Anders soon found himself approaching the point of no return, and he humped upwards a little faster. Nathan must have been close too because he started to come down over the coyote's dick a little harder than before. Anders could feel his knot pressing noticeably harder against the husky's asshole. "Don't knot," he warned between pants.
"I know," said the husky through gritted teeth. That didn't stop him from grinding that knot between his cheeks though, the clenching of his muscles bringing the coyote ever closer. From the look of screwed concentration on Nathan's muzzle, he appeared to be desperately trying to hold on. He wanted to wait for his husband, so they could come together. Anders understood that.
That was why he gave a few hard and irregular thrusts upward to hammer the husky's love button. Nathan's eyes flew open and with a final moan came hard over the coyote's front at the same time that he felt a new warmth enter his ass. Anders frowned at the stickiness on his chest and stomach, but Nathan was quick to reach over with a couple tissues and wipe it off. He knew Anders hated anything to do with touching cum.
After a few moments, Nathan carefully lifted himself off the coyote's dick and settled down on his back next to him. Anders saw the dopey smile on his face and giggled, placing a soft but passionate kiss on his husband's muzzle.
"I love you, Nate."
A warm chuckle. "I love you, too, Andy."
Nathan turned around on his side, allowing Anders to wrap his arms around his torso and pull himself flush to the husky's back in a spooning position. They just laid there now, relaxing against each other in the afterglow. It was almost a perfect ending to their date night.
Almost.
"Hey, what's that?"
Anders looked over and his heart dropped. In the throes of passion, they had settled down on opposite sides of the bed from their own; so naturally, it made sense that Nathan would notice a card on Anders' nightstand that wasn't usually there. Nathan grabbed it and read the small black lettering "Genesis Treatment Services" with a phone number underneath.
"Andy...what is this?"
Anders gulped. "I-it's a place in town that's got a treatment program for alcoholism. So you can...you know...get better. Overcome your problem."
Nathan tensed and pulled way to stand next to the bed. Anders' ears lowered as he watched his husband begin pulling his pants back on. "Andy, what the fuck? I told you I'm fine. I don't want any help."
This certainly wasn't how he had hoped the night would go. "But you're not fine. You do need help. Please don't get mad; I just want you to get better."
"That still doesn't justify you going behind my back to call somebody," Nathan spat. He upper torso still bare, he crossed his arms and glared at the coyote on the bed. "I thought we agreed that we'd tackle these types of problems together!"
"We are! I haven't even called them yet," Anders insisted, swinging his legs over the side of the bed. "I just have the card right now. I was going to talk to you first before we called."
"Well, now we're talking about it. And I say no." Nathan remarked with an air of finality. "So stop pestering me about it and just fucking drop the subject!"
_ _ Anders' eyes began to tear up. He couldn't help it. "Don't yell. _Please_don't yell."
"I'll fucking yell if I want to!" Nathan shouted, hackles rising. "I wanted help, I'd tell you! What's it to you if I have a few drinks when I'm feeling down? Huh?!"
"Nate, just listen to yourself. You're getting all defensive over a card! Nothing's even happened yet; I was waiting for your permission!" Anders stood and pleaded to his husband, "Please call them, or let me do it. At the very least, find an AA meeting or some sort of therapy. This has been going on for like a month now, and it's only been getting worse. It's clearly getting in the way of our relationship and you won't tell me what's wrong! Please let me do something to help before it starts affecting the rest of your life!"
Nathan's eyes were like lasers with the intense glare he had fixed on the coyote. "I've given you my answer. So," he leaned in, making Anders step back. "Fuck off."
_ _ Anders stood taken aback as Nathan stalked out of the bedroom. "Nate!" He followed him out to the kitchen, where the husky began rummaging through the liquor cabinet. "What are you doing?"
Nathan grabbed a bottle from the cabinet. "Getting a drink."
"But that bottle hasn't even been opened yet."
Nathan narrowed his eyes. "I know."
Anders shook his head and stepped forward, reaching to take the bottle from him. He frowned when the husky yanked it away. "Nate, c'mon, give it here."
"No."
"Nate, please, this isn't good for you! You're going to hurt yourself if this goes on!"
"Leave me the fuck alone, Andy!"
"You don't have to be alone! You've got me!"
"You're not enough!"
_ _ The shock of the husky's words caused Anders to release his hold on the wine bottle. He blinked, his eyes becoming even more glassy than before. He mumbled trying to say something intelligent, but nothing came out. Nathan growled and stormed off to the bedroom, the slam of the door echoing through the apartment.
"I...I'm n-not enough," Anders whispered, tears beginning to fall. He stumbled, almost zombie-like, toward the living room, his legs seemingly acting of their own accord. "I-I'm not enough..."
He collapsed on the couch and that's when the floodgates opened. Tears streamed down his cheeks as he buried his face in a pillow sobbing loudly. Not just crying, outright bawling, wails of sorrow and loss. It was as if a half of his life had just vanished without any hope of bringing it back. A month of worry and concern for his husband, his lifelong companion, his love, had finally come to a head. I'm not enough. I'm not enough...
_ _ Anders wasn't sure how long he had been crying for, or what prompted him to raise his eyes to the surrounding apartment. Tears still stained his cheeks as he took in the silence. He could hear nothing from the bedroom, and he was certain he wouldn't be able to go back in there without provoking another shouting match. His eyes drifted over to the phone on the corner of the kitchen counter.
I'm not enough...I need help. Anders rested his head on the pillow, closing his eyes in hopes of a dreamless sleep. I can't do this alone...and neither can he. I'll call tomorrow, before he wakes up.
