In a world without humans, where Shapeshifters have taken control, slavery has come back full force. Rebellion is shaking the chains that hold the slaves down and there is an all out war coming soon. But are the humans truly gone? What was the unnatural and mysterious force behind their disappearance? In this world of unknowns the only sure thing is, that not everything is as it seems, and those who seem to be enemies may just turn out to be your most important allies ever.

Sweat, blood, and fear mixed in the air. Turning the atmosphere metallic and sour, making her nose crinkle with the desire to sneeze. Faolan turned to watch the line of slaves proceed as they were trotted up the wooden platform. She wore rags for clothing and sported a throbbing black eye. Her skin was scuffed and bruised, a nice raw patch burned along her side every time a gust of wind touched it. Moon above she hoped this was worth it. Being sister to the Alpha of the Tainteds had never put her in such a precarious position before, though she had been in plenty of dangerous ones. This time she was in the belly of the beast.

She had crossed the boundary from flirting with death to full on taunting it. Faolan was in the Pure-blood slave auction and she was one of the slaves. This was all on purpose though. This had been planned carefully.

She was to breach enemy lines, entice their Alpha, and sneak information back to her pack. Which all sounded fine and dandy when spoken by her brother in his soothing voice, but once she was here surrounded in this oppressive atmosphere, all she wanted to do was run. She wasn't as strong as her brother. For some reason he had been positive she could do this. Faolan wasn't so sure. She had never been touched sexually and she doubted she could do it just to glean information.

Hissing whispers sounded and Faolan glanced up from where she was staring at the silver filled chains around her wrists. She peered into the crowd of faces in front of her, eager to see what or who was causing such a fuss.

The man who stepped forth was massive, he must have been six feet and at least five, maybe seven inches tall. His muscular build rippled under his shirt. She felt like a speck next to him at her mere five feet and four inches. His hair fell casually into his face, stopping just short of his jaw line, a light chestnut color that was just a few shades lighter than his skin. Yet,it was his eyes that truly captivated her, a spring green they should have shown warmth but they were like ice and fire at the same time. Dancing with him would be dangerous, and sadly he was the one she needed to impress the most. Tiberius, the Alpha of the Pure-bloods, and the tiger who knew no fear.

He stepped through the crowd and it seemed to ripple out from around him as if he flung everyone out of the way. Shifters scurried away from the huge man, and his gaze was firmly fixed ahead at the platform. However he wasn't looking at Faolan... instead he was looking at a young woman next to her.

Faolan watched with narrowed eyes. The interaction between these two could tell her a lot. As he approached she could smell pine trees and musk radiating from him. Her nostrils flared slightly to drink in the intoxicating scent. It was odd this strange pull she felt toward him. She couldn't put a name to it.

Tiberius stepped onto the platform with an easy stride, as if it weren't a couple feet off the ground. His eyes practically glowed as he approached the dark-haired woman and gripped her. He took a deep whiff of her neck, his tongue came out to sample her skin and she shuddered visibly. He grimaced and thrust her away from him as if he were offended by her.

"Useless Taint," he growled and then turned in a fury towards Faolan.

He stepped toward her and she drew herself up, though she trembled from fear inside she kept herself defiant and calm on the outside. He grabbed Faolan's tawny curls unceremoniously and yanked them back exposing her throat and though she wanted nothing more than to wrench away she merely huffed her displeasure and allowed it to happen with a glare shot at him.

He watched this reaction with interest, "I can smell your fear, but you show none. You are interesting."

He sniffed her collarbone and then touched the tip of his tongue to her throat, a shock of electricity shot from the connection straight down her spine. She blinked and jerked back a bit.

"Wha---?!" She whispered, speaking for the first time.

His smile was anything but comforting.

"You are the one," he nodded to the trader and the next thing she knew, she was being shoved off the platform and he was pulling her by her chains down a hallway into a room that had walls covered in collars of all sizes, colors, and shapes. He fingered a black leather collar before placing it back, and stepping farther into the room to stare back and forth between her and the walls. He sized up the different collars and seemed to settle on a thick gold chain collar padded with a green leather.

He lifted it to place around her neck and she growled before stepping back. Tiberius raised an amused brow.

"Now you show true defiance... What is wrong little wolf?" he smirked at her.
