Silent Hinges prologue
The bus arrived late today thanks to a kid who dropped all of his things while getting on, either way I got home and immediately chewed out mother who was in my way of getting to my room. It had been a few days since the last time, but it didn't matter, all I wanted to do was to get on the phone and talk to him for hours, but when I got to my room I had the surprise of my life...
First let me tell you a little about myself, I am a female furred dragon of the blue variety, I'm about six foot two, play some basket ball in my spare time and like to go motorcycle riding. My best friend in the world is Michelle who is a spotted cheetah, on the topic of friends my boy friend is currently Jack Daniels (not the beer company though he is a doberman). There are no amount of words to describe how much he cares for me, he's loving and kind and silly and just plain cool.
Like I said earlier the bus was late getting home, when it finally got there I was in for the surprise of my life...
When I stepped off the bus that evening there was no house to go to, it was gone like there had never been one there before. All that stood in front of me was an empty lot. I waited there for hours and when it got dark and no one came home, I went over to Michelle's house. What I saw would change me in ways I could not imagine, little creatures with no eyes and huge mouths were eating her house or more to the point erasing it, wherever they went some of the house would disappear. Michelle and her family were nowhere to be seen.
I heard a faint sound behind me, like the rumble of an engine. I turned around and was immediately pulled up onto a motorcycle as it raced down the road. I started to hit the person as hard as I could and got no reaction from him what so ever. Eventually he slowed down enough I could hear him, he was trying to tell me something, I still couldn't hear him. A mile or so later we came to a complete stop near an abandoned mine shaft, he slowly removed his helmet and in a voice I know and love said," are you trying to kill me" I looked at him and gasped, it was jack!
"Jack! I'm so sorry I didn't know it was you!" I blurted out. "its fine but we gotta keep quiet from here tell we get out, now hurry!" he whispered as he shoved me down the mine shaft. It was cold and dark, and as I fell I accidentally reached out and touched the wall, it was covered in slime. By this time though I didn't care because I had resigned myself to the fate that might awaited me at the end of the shaft.
As the end of the shaft grew closer near half an hour later, I started to make the outline of a solid wood door. As we drew nearer the door appeared more clearly, it was nearly ten feet tall and seven wide! " we go through there" Jack said. I grunted and kept on going toward the door. As I stepped up to the door, a faint rattle came from behind it, and it swung slowly forward on silent hinges...
