Chapter 24: Avarice (October 23rd 2019 A.D. - Monday 5:30 AM)

The sun rose as normal, Kitsune was already awake, fully dressed in a White long sleeve shirt, with a light blue feral wolf on the back and a pair of pink cargo pants. He sat on the couch the TV on, but nothing more than infomercials playing, Kitsune was only half awake, he felt uneasy about something and didn't like the feeling. Suddenly he heard a knock at the door and quickly got to his feet looking at the door. An envelope slid through the bottom of the door and Kitsune ran towards it and opened the door quickly. Kitsune looked out of the room through the door, but he saw nothing there, the sun was still rising and no sounds could be heard outside. He looked about, but again saw nothing, letting out a sigh he closed the door and looked down at the envelop.

Bending down he picked it up and looked at it's outside before opening it, noticing many papers placed inside of the envelope and pulling the letter out. Scanning the paper he read:

'Dear Kitsune,

Love, /ast time I sent a letter I gave you the necklace you keep around your neck, I saw that it was almost taken from you, and please love take better care of it, I know you did not stop until you had it back and for that I am thankful, but I mean it when I say that is a very important crystal on the pendant. Otherwise I just want to tell you how I am, and I would like you to take the papers that are also in this envelop, they are the homework from a while back I would like you to turn them into each teacher please. Also in the back is a check with a little bit of money for you, even if I can't be close to you right now I want to still take care of you the best I can. Anyways I've been fine, and I've seen you've been well because of help from you friends, that relieves me a lot. I don't know when we can be close again but I promise you one day this will be all fixed and I'll carry you in my arms for eternity to repay you for the pain you're going through.

Kitsune looked through the envelope pulling the papers out and unfolding them. At the top of each was the subject it was to go to, and the room number that it was in. He got to the check in the very back, it was signed by Ozwot for fifty dollars. Kitsune smiled and placed the check back into the envelop keeping the rest of the papers out, in his paw. He made his way to the couch and sat down, looking down at the floor.

"...If only I could help" Kitsune said to himself softly "...what use am I?".

Kitsune sat on the couch placing papers on the table in front of him, and placed his paws on his head and over his eyes. Kitsune's ears twitched as he heard the sound of something hitting the window near him. He lifted his head as he heard it again, he walked to the window pulling away the blinds, and pulling the window up. Kitsune looked out the window and down at the campus. He could see Yoshi standing and waving Shadow right beside her.

"Come on up sillies" Kitsune shouted out towards the two. Yoshi nodded grabbing Shadow's paw without warning, surprising the kitty, who was then dragged into the building. Kitsune could hear the stomping of Yoshi's foot steps climbing the stairs. Kitsune stared at the door, laying down on the couch, smoothing his fur about, his eyes still tired. Without warning the door flew open and Yoshi rushed in shutting the door.

"Ha" She laughed "beat you Shadow". She had a successful look on her face as she held the door shut.

"No fair" Came shadow's muffled voice from behind the door "you pushed me!".

"Shhh" Kitsune put a digit to his lips, and then said quietly "Shon is sleeping".

"Oh whoops, sorry lil' bro" Yoshi pulled off the door and it flung open, knocking Yoshi onto her back, and shadow standing there, the same look of success Yoshi had.

"YAY!" her victory cry came and then she looked at Yoshi "Oops, didn't mean to hit you".

"Yeah right" Yoshi grunted picking herself up and pushing the door shut. Shadow gave a shriek of pain as the door slammed on her tail, Yoshi quickly to pulled it open, relieving Shadow, Kitsune gave a sigh looking over at the bed room door.

"Sorry" Yoshi gave a remorseful look to Kitsune. Then Shadow slapped her paw into Yoshi's cheek.

"Why are you apologizing to him?" Shadow complained "I'm the one you hurt".

"Someone is sleeping" Yoshi smacked back "you're gonna wake him up".

"And what about Shadow's hurting tail, that doesn't matter?" She asked looking up at Yoshi on the verge of tears.

"Oh please, like this hasn't happened before" Yoshi retorted holding out a paw to Shadow. Shadow gave a grunt grabbing onto the paw, and pulling herself up with help from Yoshi. Kitsune could hear ruffling from the bed room, and his ears twitched.

"Er... girls please be quiet" Kitsune shook his head.

"Oh sorry bro, didn't mean to be so loud". Kitsune closed his eyes and shook his head more. The door opened, Kitsune after getting a glimpse of Shon unclothed turned his head blushing, the folf quickly shut the door, and the girls looked over, then to Kitsune.

"What's wrong?" They both asked in unison.

"A-absolutely nothing" he blushed deeper opening his eyes and placing his paws on his cheeks shaking his head.

"You sure?" they both asked. Kitsune nodded and walked over to the bed room door looking to them.

"I'll be back in a moment" he said as he moved into the door shutting it immediately after words, but closing his eyes.

"I-I'm so sorry Shon, I didn't mean to wake you" Kitsune could not see but could hear movement.

"It's alright Kit, It's good to wake up early anyways" Spoke the tired voice, getting closer "besides no one saw anything". Kitsune nodded not truly knowing if Shon could see. Kitsune felt a paw press at his chest, he drew a breath in as he felt the cold digits.

"Go back out there with your friends, I'm gonna take a shower" Shon, opened the door pressing Kitsune backwards, out the door. Kitsune opened his eyes as the door shut in front of him then he turned around and waved at Yoshi. Yoshi only let out a breathe.

"What were you doing?"

"Just apologizing" Kitsune replied.

"Right" Yoshi nodded smirking "trying to sneak a peek".

"How dare you...I-I was not, I had my eyes closed" Kitsune pointed his digit towards Yoshi his face flushing.

"But you wanted to" She smiled stepping close to him. Kitsune did not retort, and his right ear twitched.

"You're not so uppity, lil' Kitsu, nyah I know you bro, you're not gonna fool me like that".

"But I mean it, I had my eyes closed" Kitsune stepped back.

"I bet" she only continued smiling. She took Kitsune by the wrist and started dragging him over to the couch.

"Eh!" Kitsune breathed out "wh-what are you doing?"

"Sit down, you look so uncomfortable we only came to talk bro" she placed Kitsune down on the couch then plopped beside him, Shadow sitting next to her on the arm.

"Eh?" Kitsune looked about "it's a little early sister, we have to be getting to class in a few minutes".

"Oh well we'll stay here and study...just go back home later" she nodded, Shadow just looked about the room "So what have you been up to?"

"Nothing" Kitsune answered, leaning back on the couch "A little traumatized after yesterday".

"Wow, I'd think you'd be over that" Yoshi titled her head "you've never had someone steal from you before?"

"Nope" Kitsune shook his head "I've been lucky on that area, now I have had people try to steal lunch money, but kind of a waste, I packed lunch or didn't eat at all, school lunch is disgusting, I've been in fights, arguments, but never robbed, or mugged. I don't really have much that people think is worth stealing from me, One time a mugger went at my father around me though, had a knife. But my daddy got out of that just fine, but the mugger didn't".

"I see" Yoshi nodded and looked out the window and then down at the letter on the table "What's that?"

"Uh" Kitsune took the letter and papers into his paw placing them back in the envelope "a letter from Oz".

"Can I see?"

"It's personal" Kitsune began to blush at the request.

"Ah" Yoshi nudged Kitsune with her elbow "I get it". Shadow began to paw at Yoshi's face, the lioness looked over angrily at her.

"It's time to get to classes, I don't want to be late!" She exclaimed hopping off the arm of the couch. Yoshi gave a long sigh before standing up.

"Sorry Kit, see you this afternoon then, we have to stay in the university a little later, because shadow needs to take a test, but I'll come by here".

She walked off and out the door waving to him. Kitsune rubbed his eyes and then looked out the window, to see the morning sun bright and shining upwards. He smiled over to it as if it was smiling back, then he turned to the letter on the table placing it into his pocket neatly. Shon walked from the room, fully dressed now a black long sleeve shirt on, and tight black jeans, and heavy brown boots with a black trim.

Kitsune smiled over to him as he approached he fox.

"How did you rest?" Shon asked.

"Fine" Kitsune's reply was slightly meek in tone. Shon nodded and then waved a paw towards the door.

"It's time to go, we'll talk on the way to the university". Kitsune nodded in reply and approached the door.

They took no time to go down the steps, Kitsune behind Shon, the sun was bright for this time, cold air swept across the courtyard around there bodies. The cold air seemingly constricted Kitsune breathe. His thoughts began to float around the letter in his pocket, he walked only following Shon.

"So what did you dream about" Shon's words penetrated Kitsune's thought and he came back to reality.

"Oh..." Kitsune thought for a moment "I...it was strange".

"What was it?"

"I dreamt about....a dragon....I don't remember exactly what happened, just that" Kitsune replied slowly.

"Okay, did you get a letter from Oz?"

"Yes" Kitsune nodded "it's in my pocket".

"That's good"

"I don't know what would happen if I didn't know he was okay..."

"Don't worry about it, It doesn't look like he'll be fine I'm sure" Shon shook his head "Now what's your first class?"

"Ummm I think it should be Anthropology" Kitsune nodded "yeah that's it..."

Kitsune gave a sigh.

"What?" Shon turned to look at Kitsune.

"Oz sits right beside me in that class" Kitsune looked down giving a light sigh, his ears dropping.

"Come on, he's just away for awhile, he'll come back".

"I hope so" Kitsune breathed out. Shon walked up close and pulled on Kitsune's wrist.

"We'll talk today after classes" Jerked Shon, Kitsune following behind.

A few minutes, passed as they walked through the courtyard, passing the large tree that lay in between the dorms and the building. The white stone of the building and the shiny blue panes of glass that carried along the walls the class rooms easily perceived. Kitsune looked over, standing near the entrance was Leo, leaning against the wall, holding his arms. Kitsune dashed forward, Shon letting go of the fox's wrist. Kitsune approached Leo and waved at him.

"Leo!" Kitsune called "I haven't seen you in awhile, what have you been up to?"

"It's winter" Leo replied "so not much for a grounds keeper to do, the grass won't grow as fast, I figured I'd wait here for you, I wanted to talk for awhile". Kitsune whimpered and Leo looked at him fuddled.

"I don't really have much time to talk; do you know where Oz's dorm is?"

"I have a least at my house, just in case I need to inspect rooms and the sort for infestations" Leo shakes his head "but I really don't need it, most people who gets bugs, are the people who bring them in with trash all over the place...Anyways yes, I get what you're saying I'll come by this afternoon then". Kitsune nodded and hugged Leo. Leo smiled and then pulled from the embrace.

"...where is Ozwot?"

Kitsune stood silent as the question was asked, he felt like breathing was growing hard at just the sound.

"Oz is out of town" Shon came up beside Kitsune putting a paw on his shoulder "family issues, so he had to take days off, he asked me to look after him".

"oh, I see" Leo gave a look to Shon and nodded "okay I get it. So Kit, I don't believe you've introduced me". Kitsune blushed putting a paw to his mouth.

"Oh! I'm so sorry that's rude ummm Shon, this is Leo" Kitsune pointed to the winged lion "and Leo this is Shon". The two furs shook paws, looking at each other smiling.

"Is he taking good care of you kit"

"I take fine care of myself" Kitsune replied.

"Uh huh" Shon looked at Kit placing his paws at his hips "Right, of course you'd be fine without someone, so I'll just go then". Kitsune shook his head and grabbed Shon's arm whining.

"No!" Kitsune pleaded "I don't wanna be alone".

"See that" Shon smiled and hugged Kitsune. Suddenly a bell rang, Kitsune jumped at the sound and then gave a cry.

"No!" He quickly jetted through the doors. Shon and Leo stood surprised.

"Hmmm, wonder if he knows that means he's got five minutes to get to class?" Shon put a digit to his lips, shrugged then walked inside waving to Leo "Nice meeting you".

Kitsune dashed through the halls, huffing as he neared the door, repeating to himself "I'm late I'm late!"

Bursting through the door, he saw that everyone was still talking, and the class had yet to start, Mr. Jefferies Gave a smirk at the Vulpine's worried expression. Giving a breathe of relief Kitsune began to walk down the steps. He felt something soft hit his head then fly over top, the piece of balled up paper fell to the ground, and bounced down the steps. Kitsune turned around, noticing, Jerry sitting back with a smirk on his face. Kitsune turned back around, an angered expression across his face. He sat in his normal seat, the class muttering amongst itself before a bell rang, and a silence ran through out the room now. Kitsune looking about, leaned back in the chair, throwing his books onto the table, from the book bag that he threw to the floor.

"Now skip right to the lesson" Mr. Jefferies enounced "we were studying on the different classifications, families and races of human beings, who can tell me what the peach skinned human beings, were called?"

Ryu raised his paw into the air wearily. Mr.Jefferies pointed at him and he answered "Caucasians". Jefferies nodded at the reply then went pacing left and right across the room slowly.

"And of the humans they were probably the most diversified from looks, we only have small amounts of writings to go by though, many of them fictional works and the sort. What species are the humans mostly similar to?" he asked the class, and Ryan from beside Kitsune raised his white paw into the air. Mr. Jefferies pointed at him, and Ryan answered "Primates, right!?"

"Right" Mr. Jefferies nodded "Primates share many common aspects of humans, one being the five fingers, instead of four paw digits. It's not so uncommon for some primates to look almost exactly like most humans, that's why if you see a movie with a human, it will normally be played by a monkey who's fur was shaved off. Kitsune stared at mr.Jefferies his thoughts slowly moving to the one who should be sitting beside him, looking at the seat Kitsune's ears drooped as be breathed out.

"Something matter?" Mr. Jefferies approached Kitsune, tilting his head "I wouldn't think simian relationships with humans would be so depressing". Kitsune lifted his head then shook it.

"Sorry, I was listening" Kitsune sat back.

"I'd hope so, because there will be a test next week on all of this and you are to look up information on them, you should know everything about these common similarities by then. Now, what we will be doing today is, you will copy the notes I am about to give, while I'm giving my lecture I hope you will copy everything, if you're a slow writer you better have a good memory". Kitsune pulled out a paper, as did the rest of the class at hearing these.

*** (thirty minutes passed, Kitsune copied down what he could, but Jefferies lecture passed so fast he missed many important matters)

Kitsune stood up as the bell rang, throwing his stuff into his bag, giving a yawn and then stretching his arms, he zipped up his back and swung it over his back and began to pad for the exit of the class. Many of the furs had already left the class room only a few still there. Kitsune approached the door but his arm was grabbed and tugged on, Jerry grasping onto his elbow, and pulling his maw to Kitsune's ear.

"Heard you started your little gay party, That's good and all, but you had best shut it down"

"Are you threatening me?" Kitsune asked looking over to Jerry.

"Yeah, shrimp, what you gonna do about it". Kitsune shook his head and jerked at his arm, forcing Jerry to release it then balled up his paw to make a fist.

"I'm a fox, not a shrimp, and second of all, don't you dare touch me" Kitsune shook his head once more.

"And what are you gonna do!?"

Kitsune pushed through the door ignoring Jerry and giving a sigh as he mixed into the flood of other furs. Giving an ever deeper sigh as he thoughts came back, to his loved one, his ears dropping, his head leaning forward, and his brown head fur, falling over his eyes as a depressed form came over his face, opening his paw wishing for it to be in another paw. Longing, and only a few thoughts from tears suddenly a paw moved into his, Kitsune his ears perking turned to see the face of Shon smiling at him.

"Heya Kit" he greeted with an illustrious smile on his face, warming Kitsune from his near breakdown. Kitsune found the smile run across his face.

"Hi, Shon" Kitsune returned the greeting softly.

"What is your next period?"

"I...Creative Writing" Kitsune nodded "why?"

"I can have a sit in with you" Shon smiled "you see I take Native cultures, as my second class of the day, but that's not till the third class starts. So I'm allowed to go get food, or sit in the courtyard or even sit in on classes".

"Nice" Kitsune smiled "So you're going to sit in on Creative writing?"

"Why not" Shon chuckled "I bet you have some interesting stories".

"Actually..." Kitsune paused for a moment "I've been working on a book that one day I hope is published".

"Really now? Ever think I could give it a nice look over" Shon tilted his head, guiding Kitsune now through the halls. Kitsune gave a blush brushing the hair from his eyes, the blue pools looking over at the back of Shon's head, who was leading him through the halls. His black head fur motioning about as he walked, holding onto the young fox's paw. Kitsune stayed silent, not quite ready to show anyone his work out of embarrassment.

"I...I'd like to get better before I show it" Kitsune breathed. Shon gave a nod, leading him into the class room now.

*** (2 hours later)

Outside the afternoon sun shown bright upon Kitsune orange fur, shon running up behind him and rubbing his head fur about.

"Have a nice day?" He asked.

"Japanese was fine, what about the native cultures"

"It's an interesting class" Shon nodded "I'm sure less difficult than Japanese, I took the native cultures to learn more about my ancestry, it's a very nice thing to go through".

"I bet" Kitsune nodded. Shon lay a paw on Kitsune's shoulder rubbing it softly. Kitsune smiled and looked over Shon.

"You want to get to the dorm kit? I have a project I'd like to start A.S.A.P" Shon lay both paws upon Kitsune's shoulders rubbing them ever so softly.

"I'll wait with you" Shon shook his head, then turned about to see Yoshi running towards them Shadow in tow, Yoshi's paw waving about madly.

"Sis!" Kitsune greeted turning about, his tail wagging. Yoshi, moved past Shon, tackling Kitsune to the ground, in which the fox gave a sound of displeasure as he hit the ground, his book bag falling beside him.

"Ouch" Kitsune clenched his eyes "I wasn't on the grass sissy".

"Oh you'll get over it" She chuckled and then pinched at Kitsune's cheek "how was school?"

"college?"

"School, college, whatever you want to call it, you still get grades".

Shon and Shadow both chuckled at the comment.

*** (an hour passed as they walked to the dorm and sat around)

Kitsune gave a yawn looking out at the pre-maturely setting sun, giving a sigh.

"What's the matter?" Shadow asked noticing the sound.

"Just...nothing" Kitsune breathed out and looked back at them giving a smile.

"You okay kit?" Yoshi peered over him, shaking her head.

Kit nodded looking back at the setting sun, thoughts flowing through the rays, the bright luster shining through his blue pools. Kitsune could hear the words from the world but not seeming to penetrate his ears, as he stared at the large burning orb in the sky, watching down upon him like an eye. It took him back to a time not so long ago, a memory of him and his lover, flourishing about in his mind. This same setting sun falling slowly from the sky, it's orange blaze running along the carpet of which Kitsune's foot paws sat, curling and wiggling. "I'm sorry bro" she said hugging him close "but I've got to go now, me and shadow have a project that is due in a week that every moment matters on. So we'll see you tomorrow". Kitsune gave a sigh rubbing his paw along Yoshi's back.

"Okay sis" he said, "I guess we can meet like we did today, at the entrance after classes".

"Sure no problem" she nodded, then shadow pulled her from the fox, and Yoshi gave a sigh picking up her things and leaving through the door behind shadow waving good bye to Kitsune.

"Hey Kitsune" Shon's voice suddenly moved its way into the fox's mind from beside him "How would you feel about going out with me?".

Kitsune tilted his head blushing.

"Oh sorry, it's a project, I need to ask you what you know about your family ancestry, I'm supposed to find three people with native genes in there bodies, by next week, it's extra credit I know, but no class is easy" Shon shook his head "besides I think it'd be nice".

"Sure" Kitsune giggled. Shon stood up and they both walked into the bed room to get ready for the dinner.

*** (3 hours later)

Kitsune full from the meal, walked wearily in tow behind Shon, who was beaming happily.

"I didn't know that about you" Shon gave a laugh "you really wouldn't strike me as native descendant".

"Hmm, which part, the fact I'm short? Scrawny?"

"No, it's just I wouldn't have guessed it is all" shon pushed through the dorm door.

"Well it's on my mom's side" Kitsune spoke following Shon inside "Either way, I'm tired". Kitsune yawned and stretched, Shon hugged him from behind, his chin laying atop Kitsune's head, and he chuckled, his chest vibrating against the back of Kitsune's lower neck. "I'm going to bed okay Shon?" Kitsune asked turning, his eyes half open but a smile still over his face, as he looked up at him.

"Fine by me" Shon patted at Kitsune's snout and then moved his nose rubbing against Kitsune's "I'll be in there later, have a lot of stuff I want to do".

Kitsune walked straight for the bedroom, not bothering to shut the door, as he pulled the shirt from his body, his bright orange-red fur matted down to his body from the clothing, moving closer towards the bed, he pushed the pants from his waist, revealing only a pair of tight blue panties, around his crotch, squeezing the sheath close to his body, the impression showing vividly, his cheeks waving as he moved for the bed.
