A Night in Duat
In a nightclub, two long forgotten deities reunite by chance, and catch up after a few millennia apart.

A Night in Duat
Anubis couldn't help but smile as he was approached by yet another mortal, politely refusing the drink they were offering to buy for him but smiling as they leaned forward and confessed that it wasn't a drink, it wasn't a conversation they wished to share. The collie had apparently been coming to this club for months, but had never seen anyone who could pull off the God of the Dead like him. The gold rings around his wrists and ankles. The necklace. The earrings. The black leather trousers and waistcoat, bare fur revealing his lean, toned chest beneath it. Apparently he was the perfect Anubis. The jackal chuckled softly. Oh, if only they knew.
Once it became clear that Anubis wasn't going to do as they suggested though, that he wasn't going to join the collie in the bathroom for a little worship, the dog lost interest and wandered off in search of some more amenable companionship. They left Anubis sitting alone at the bar once again, and allowed him to spend more time simply soaking up the atmosphere; delighting in these few hundred people who, whether they believed anything surrounding the stylised theme of this nightclub or not, were feeding the ancient God with their revelry and glee, in part offered in his name.
There came a point in the evening however, just as the music throughout Duat was beginning to get louder and more intense, as the dance-floor grew packed with writhing, seemingly half naked dancing figures grinding and brushing sensuously up against one another, when Anubis' casual glances around the room became suddenly fixated on a single figure. A figure who had just walked into the club, and though she wore the same seductive, sparse and modern clothing as everyone else here stood out to Anubis like a lighthouse blazing upon darkened rocks. She looked around, and mere moments later she saw him too. Their eyes met, and as Anubis slipped away from the bar and she away from the entrance, they walked in a pair of perfectly straight lines towards one another across the club's bustling floor. They brushed mortals out of the way like they were nothing, and only when they were face to face, raising their hands, pressing them together and lacing their fingers through one another's own intimately, did they both smile.
"Sekhmet..."
Anubis murmured, bowing his head in respect to the Goddess of Healing, the great huntress herself. The lioness nodded her own head in return, purring loudly as she looked Anubis up and down.
"It's been centuries, Anubis. How are you?"
They both smirked, knowing the answer even before Anubis spoke it.
"Immortal, as ever. But... not bad, considering."
The lioness chuckled, glancing around at the thronging, dancing crowd, at the music which was so loud it seemed to make the very air shake, and yet which even now was growing faint and distant, the whole mortal world seeming to fade into the background as the two ancient deities stood together, hands still clasped tightly, and chatted.
"So, what do you think of the world right now?"
Rolling his eyes, Anubis shrugged.
"I try to pay as little attention as possible. It just gets depressing otherwise. But... I'll say this for the twenty first century, it's certainly less boring than the renaissance, and marginally less fucked up than the dark ages... though I'm sure that could change in a heartbeat."
Nodding, Sekhmet stepped a little closer to Anubis. Their hands, still entwined, fell to their sides, and they began to move against one another. Almost to dance, though to a beat entirely separate from the current throbbing baseline filling the club.
"Have you been using Netflix? The modern methods of access to entertainment are wonderful, are they not?"
Anubis chuckled.
"Yes. Though, I still prefer books. I know I'll never be able to read every one, but that won't keep me from trying."
Their dance began to move across the floor of the club, brushing yet more people aside, ignoring any who sought to call out after them in confusion or frustration. Their eyes remained locked upon one another, their hands holding tightly, grounding one another against their presence, their familiarity in this ever changing, ever evolving world.
"So, is that how you spend your free time these days? Reading, and... visiting places of hedonism erected in our name?"
Sekhmet glanced around, the music getting slightly louder, the colour briefly returning to the world around them as they paid heed to its presence, however briefly. Anubis grinned.
"More or less. I've been coming here for some months now. Though, I haven't seen you before. Hathor visits now and then."
The lioness snorted with laughter.
"Of course she does. This place must be heaven for her. Music. Dance. Sex. And all in our name... though, yours more than any of the rest of us."
One of her hands finally pulled free from Anubis' own, only to run its fingers down the front of the jackal's bare chest. He grinned, but grasped at that paw caressing his torso, pressing it to his heart and holding it there as it pounded beneath his flesh.
"And which of those brings you here today, Sekhmet? The music? The dance?"
He released her hand and smiled, nodding warmly, encouragingly as she grasped at it in turn. The lioness guided his hand it to her own chest, purring as she slid it down the front of her tight halter top, between her firm yet bountiful breasts. Her own heart thumped and thundered beneath his touch. Being in a place like this, a place where even millennia after their pantheon had fallen from favour they were still remembered and adored, never failed to get even their ancient blood flowing faster and hotter than normal.
The jackal growled as before he had a chance to let the silence hang, before he had a chance to suggest that perhaps it was neither dance nor music that had brought Sekhmet here but a desire for something else that would once have fallen within Hathor's sphere of power, the lioness leaned forward and pecked him gently upon the lips, withdrawing with a playful purr just a split-second later. He raised his eyebrows, letting slip a low, tender rumble from the back of his throat as he returned the kiss in kind, just as brief but with every bit as much warmth and affection.
"You know why I came here, Anubis. W-why we always seek out remnants of our former greatness."
With one hand apiece still entwined together, the Gods' other arms encircled one another and held them close. They weren't dancing any more. They weren't moving at all in fact. But even as the club continued to throng and dance around them, no-one came too close. No-one entered an empty sphere of space about a metre on all sides away from the embracing Gods. Anubis sighed softly, and leaned his head forward, bringing his forehead to rest tenderly against Sekhmet's own.
"Not tonight, Goddess."
He murmured, nuzzling against her face, pecking once again at the side of her muzzle before she whimpered, mewled softly and raised her head, meeting his gaze head on once more. Again Anubis whispered to her, smiling, holding her so close, almost able to forget in that moment not only where they were, but how long it had been since the last time they had shared a night like this many, many centuries before.
"We may be lonely wanderers now. Gods with no world to rule. But... tonight, my Goddess, you won't be lonely. You won't be alone. Tonight you will be worshipped, adored until you flow like the Nile herself."
For just a moment the jackal's eyes began to glow, and as they did so the flashing strobes of technicolour light illuminating the otherwise dark dance floor of Duat seemed to take on that same glow.
The mortals present stopped dancing.
The music fell silent.
All eyes turned towards Anubis, and towards Sekhmet.
All eyes followed them, trembling, breathing heavily as they were watched, recognised for who and what they were. Now that Anubis had dropped the glamour which hid their divine nature away from the world all the mortals of the club knew they were in the presence of Gods, and soon they were dropping to their knees, whimpering, gasping, staring in silent awe as Anubis fell to his own knees before Sekhmet, licking his lips as he peeled down her trousers and the underwear beneath them. She placed a trembling hand upon his head, her legs parting almost of their own accord as she stared out at the crowd, not having felt this much focused attention, this much pure, undiluted worship in almost a thousand years.
"O-oh... Anubis..."
She moaned, her fingers closing around a clump of his dark fur and tugging his face forward, pressing his muzzle between her legs and grunting as he immediately, unabashedly began to feast upon her flushed, needy depths.
"Like the Nile."
Sekhmet growled his own words back at him, shaking in desire, in longing and in joyous pleasure while the male's tongue began to work at her pussy.
"Make me flow like the Nile, a-and... I shall make sure that tonight, together we flood Duat with our ecstasy like the Nile's plains in spring."
