Best Laid Plans
Taha and Arlene discuss their plans for their future schemes, but during their meeting, Arlene gives Taha a gift- A wolven servant.
“I imagine he was a handful, then?"
Taha snorted, shaking her head. “He was rather gullible, as a matter of fact. Relatively easy, if a little intensive."
“Intensive?"
“Aye. Intensive."
Arlene's brow was arched. “Define intensive."
“Thorough."
The woman giggled, then barked out a laugh. “You really do like to play with your prey, don't you?"
The wolfess' grin was part savage and part smug. “And you don't?"
“I've a different sort of quarry than you. Besides, our goals are the same."
The wolfess took a sip of the proffered tea, though lacking human lips, it more resembled a lap of the tongue than a proper sip. “With due respect, I doubt that."
The room was well furnished, with a small table beset by two chairs opposite each other. A rug was draped across the wood floor, and a window bled the morning light in through half-drawn windows. The walls were tidy, with a few decorative ornaments hanging as to make the room appear occupied, but not busy. The white wolfess was dressed in the traditional formal garb of her people, though disdaining traditional facepaint. Arlene was resplendent in a simple, yet elegant pair of men's pants with a plain shirt, yet obviously modified to appear more womanly. It reminded Taha of what the buccaneers along the far eastern coasts would wear. The same human woman cocked her head, although her grin stayed. “Do explain."
“I just want my quarry. That is all."
Alene laughed. “Very unorthodox way to get to one man, don't you think? And you cannot simply just find him yourself?"
“No. I… I cannot harm him directly, and he is too skilled and experienced to let any direct attack harm him."
“So you need a distraction?"
“A huge one."
“Aye. I admit, this'll do it, hopefully."
“You fulfill your end of the bargain, and I shall fulfill mine."
“As I said, the pieces are in motion. Mercenaries and state soldiers are already marching as we speak. They'll arrive within a span."
“They'll find the zebrafolk much hardier and skilled fighters than they bargained for."
Arlene took a sip of her tea, grunting. “They're well aware of the risk, I assure you. They're armed, trained, and ready to fight, but you appear to be not so."
“I merely want you to succeed."
“Why, if I may ask?"
Taha lapped again at her cup. “Because I need you to be an actual threat for this to work."
“Oh, ye of little faith," Arlene giggled, setting down her cup and crossing her arms under her chest. “The human kingdoms will occupy their city and capture their people before the month is out, and we'll have a nice foothold to continue our expansion eastward."
Taha paused, but then nodded. “Very well. Once I'm done on my end during that, I'll fulfill my contract to you, and our business will be done."
“Agreed, though I must admit, I've rather… Enjoyed working with you. It's a refreshing change of pace."
Taha's smile was inscrutable. “How so?"
“Stuffy human bureaucrats and boot-licking politicians bore me. But you lot, the beastfolk… You're free, so much more so. Humans hide behind walls and deny nature, where you folk live within it. It's… Savage, and yet beautiful."
“So says the woman orchestrating a race war," Taha smirked, taking a last lap of her tea. “For speaking so highly of beastfolk, you're quick to wage war and enslave them."
The human woman laughed, her chest bobbing. “To the common man and woman, to those whose lives are small, minds empty, and sight narrowed, race is everything. But to those like you and me, we're above such petty notions as race. It serves a purpose."
“To stir people against each other?"
“To ensure the common folk are angry at their neighbor, and not at those above them."
Taha let out a breath, but swallowed her immediate response. Years ago, she would've agreed with Arlene's views wholeheartedly. But now… Life, as she has come to know it in this form, had changed her. “I admit, it's a clever strategy."
“Not clever enough, I'm afraid. People learn, given time, and even now there is intermingling between humans and the beastfolk, and it will only become more common in time."
“And I imagine this to be working against your strategy of keeping them angry and suspicious?"
“Correct," Arlene answered, pouring another cup of tea for herself and her guest. “I hope this war will fix that, if only for a time. Thankfully I need only a little."
“Then," the white wolfess raised her cup, “a toast."
Arlene laughed, but lifted her cup. “A toast to what, I may ask?"
“To changing times, and changed people."
“Bless their hearts, for I certainly won't."
The tea was good, Taha had to admit. She was still partial to her own blend, but the human woman had good taste. It pleasantly buzzed in her mind, setting her at ease. It was another small creature comfort she had neglected for what felt like the longest time. It had long been some petty fad to her, but she'd come around to it over the years. She'd lost count of how many had gone by, trapped in her own body, disconnected from everything she once knew.
All thanks to him.
Of course, the rage was there. It never left. A burning fire turned to a slow smolder over the years, but it had never truly died. It changed. Before she would happily have destroyed the Incarnate. But as much as she told herself she wanted this, why did it feel wrong?
In the most private recesses of her mind, she still remembered what she had once been capable of, before her betrayal. It held memories about what she did. It clashed with her mind as it was now. Wiser. The Incarnate ruined her life, and toppled her from her rightful place among the Gods. But at the same time, she felt… Different. Older. Smarter.
A better person. If one could even describe her as a person.
Arlene's voice brought Taha back to reality. “Oh, I also have a gift for you."
Taha cocked a brow. “…A gift?"
“Aye. Give me a moment."
Taha followed Arlene's form as the woman rose from her seat, sauntering to the door of the room before opening it, beckoning someone forward and telling them to “bring them".
Within the span of a few breaths, Arlene backed into the room once more, though the door was open wide. A human guard, in the full outfit of the royal guard, with armament to match, stood ready at the entrance. There were footsteps, and the clanking of chains heard from the outside hallway. Another guard stepped into view, tugging along a chain, glancing back at the dangling thing and what was on the other end of it with a particular disdain, along with a “move it along, beast".
Tall, muscled, yet a little lean, the collared figure was covered in light ashen fur from head to foot, with only a strip of leathers to keep him covered at the crotch. His ears were splayed slightly, his eyes on the guard, his hands and feet bound together by shackles. This particular wolven man's eyes pierced through the hearts of all in the room, giving each cursory glances, though the guard attempted to grab the wolf by the back of the neck to keep him restrained. The wolf immediately craned away and snarled at the human, earning worried stances, and more than a few hands to the weapons at their sides. “Mind yourself, mongrel."
Arlene held up a hand. “That'll do, Beckford. No need for that here. We're all civilized."
Taha beheld the new form before her, eyes widened, mouth agape in mild awe. He was a fine-looking specimen, indeed. Chiseled, with scars and the slight markings of maturity, but fit and handsome, with his hair tied into a ponytail in the back, his face in a half-snarl at the humans around him. His expression changed when he noticed one was another wolven, however, dressed in something their culture would remark as formalwear. His expression seemed hard, but inscrutable, even while Taha closed the distance between the two of them. With his hands bound in iron behind his back, there wasn't anything he could do to prevent the wolfess from doing what she wanted. Taha's hands rose, but she didn't make contact. Yet. Arlene chuckled. “Do you like him?"
Taha let out a breath, having to look up at the sculpted wolf before her to lock eyes with him. A hand came to his cheek. He instinctively backed away, but she continued to try and feel him. “Oh, he's…" She searched for the words. “…Handsome. Where is he from?"
Taha's fingers brushed the shackled wolf's cheek a few times. The wolf was still mighty wary, but he wasn't actively fighting back at her touch. The human guard holding his collar cleared his throat. “Border patrol to the north. Found 'im trying to sneak into our territory with a few others. We're not sure if he was a scout, or with a raiding party, since the rest of 'is mates scattered. Managed to fight eight armed men at once, this'n."
Taha's other hand found a scar that crossed along the wolf's neck, beneath his collar, and down to his collarbone, following it with a finger. “A warrior."
“And one with talent," Arlene added. “I saw him being traded off in the market. It was a crime, asking for such a low price. You came to mind, considering you were expressing interest in a servant and assistant, of sorts."
Taha nodded her head, though she didn't meet eye-to-eye with Arlene. Literally or figuratively. “I did," she replied, her hands pressing to his pecs and hips, then to his legs, feeling the raw cords of muscle winding through them. The masculine wolf's nostrils flared up as he smelled something new. Taha bit her lower lip as he did so, then she likewise took a breath in of his scent. “He's perfect."
Arlene nodded at her guards. “Leave us. And those shackles won't be necessary. Unbind his hands and feet, please."
The guard looked at her incredulously, his question silently shouted down with another glance from Arlene. He sighed as he fished the key to his shackles from a clanking ring, dipping behind the wolf and planting a hand on his shoulder. The male wolven winced, but didn't fight as there were a few clicks and clacks from behind. “No funny business, mutt," came the human voice from behind. The shackles came off, with the wolf's hands returning to his front, freed once more, for the time being. He rubbed his bruised wrists, and then was able to move his feet as they were unbonded. As quickly as they had come, the guards left, though not before handing the chain leash, and it's key, to Arlene. “He's a fighter. Watch yourself, ma'am."
The wolf's hands hung awkwardly to his front as Taha inspected him, circling around to his back with a hand on his arm. She took every bit of him in, poking, prodding, and feeling him up. His head turned to follow the white wolfess, but he didn't physically react yet, not until Taha returned to his front, a hand caressing his chin. “A proud warrior such as yourself shouldn't have the indecency of being shackled."
Arlene chuckled. “He nearly tore the arms off a few of my men over the last few days. Shackled or not, he's a handful."
Taha sighed, rubbing the wolf's chin with a thumb. The male wolf didn't react. “Your name," Taha asked, staring up at him. “What is it?"
The silence was deafening, the wolf not bothering with a reply. The human woman hummed. “Strong and silent, it seems. Not a good look in front of your new owner."
Taha glanced back and narrowed her eyes, dangerously. Arlene smiled, raising both hands in a plaintative gesture. The wolfess' attention once more returned to the figure before her. “How about this," she continued, “I'll tell you my name instead. I'm Taha."
The wolf's eyes imperceptibly softened, though he still didn't react. Taha took her hand away from his chin, fingers brushing at his cheek, down to his neck, and to the collar he wore, with a chain tied around the front. His eyes followed her hand, running along the chain to the human woman, who his gaze hardened on again. “Shall I remove your leash?"
The wolf wondered on this, moments passing by quietly. He simply nodded. Progress! Taha's smile grew as she turned back to her semi-compatriot. “Don't remove his collar, but take off his leash, please."
And so she did, the human woman gliding over with the key to the wolf's leash in hand. She reached up, but the wolf didn't back away, staying perfectly still while the key and lock audibly clicked. The chain fell to the floor with a dull, rattling thud. Although still collared, the wolf immediately rolled his neck ever so slightly, tugging at the metal and leather collar still remaining. Taha nodded. “Leashed no more."
The wolf's hand rubbed at the back of his neck inside of the tight collar, scratching at the skin beneath his dense fur. He let out a low huff, his voice graveled, a slight baritone, but with the slightest bit of sweetness to it. “Sige."
Taha seemed surprised, but recovered quickly, her hand going to the shoulder of the wolf. “Sige. Sige," she repeated, testing the name on her tongue. “A good name."
Sige and Arlene locked eyes again, the wolf warrior's eyes narrowing at her, but returning to rest on the white wolfess'. “Taha," he repeats, nodding his head. “Am I to assume I am now yours?"
“Yes. I will be your mistress from here on."
“And yet you eye me in the same way a young woman eyes their mate."
Taha's mouth curled into a sly grin. “I want you to fulfill many roles, my kin. I can only hope you prove capable."
“And I am to be your slave? Your servant?"
The wolfess seemed to think this one over, staring up at him for several brief moments before responding. “Not a slave, per se. I don't believe in slavery. I have scruples, unlike some," she smirked, giving a side glance to Arlene, who gave her a middle finger in turn.
Taha nearly jumped when she felt a hand at her waist. Sige's hands were large and powerful things, grizzled, with some scars on the backs and a slash on one palm. The grip was strangely commanding for a servant, but neither did Taha speak against it. One of her own hands met the back of the warrior's neck, but the other went to the one at her hip, grasping at it and lifting it from her bare midriff. “But that doesn't mean you've free reign to do as you wish. You are still, ultimately, mine."
Sige grunted when his hand parted with Taha's hip, but there was the barest hint of a smile on his face. “…I understand."
“Good."
Taha nodded back at Arlene. “He's perfect."
Taha's hut was a comfortable place, indeed. With a fire going in the middle of the main room, and other halls leading to other rooms, it was surprisingly spacious, like it had changed depending on what Taha desired. Doubtlessly, Odah had not seen the new developments, the lounge and main entrance cushioned and covered with rugs, chairs, and pillows surrounding a fire pit, currently blazing. It was in the light of this same pit that Taha knelt before the taller wolf, still collared, but disdaining everything else, Sige's body bare before his mistress'.
Said mistress was too busy lapping at his burgeoning manhood to respond properly to Sige's grunts and huffs, his hips remaining still, but a large hand instinctively resting on Taha's head. The white wolfess' tongue lashed at that meaty, knotted thing, angrily red and virile to the touch. Even just through her mouth, tasting his pre-virility, she could tell that he was a beast, if his fluffy, bloated sack didn't yet reveal it. She groaned around the prick in her mouth, lavishing over it with both her tongue and the rest of her mouth, attempting to get as much of it inside of her gullet as she could manage. Her head bobbed steadily, eyes half-lidded, yet always connected with Sige's own pair, though her gaze was slightly more commanding than his own. He allowed her to explore his body, to let him press his hips into her face, to rest his nuts on her chin.
Taha growled from the gut as the wolf's tongue ground against her bare womanhood, her legs hiked up and spread wide. It wasn't a request. His slurping was loud and unabashedly sultry, gazing at her with eyes filled with his own desire to take her, though he continued to explore her netherlips with his tongue, eventually digging inside to taste her wet walls for himself. Taha shuddered with delight, a low howl sounding from her open, panting mouth.
The both of them rocked and grunted aloud, though it was the wolfess who did the squealing, feeling Sige's massive, thick manhood push inside of her, right where nature intended. He took her swiftly and with no preamble, just as she had given the word for him to mount her. He had her by the shoulders, grinding deep into her, channeling the fury and aggression he'd built up since he'd been captured. He was a vicious lover, biting into Taha's neck, making her whine, but her body shook with joy as he ground his knot against her slick, battered entrance. He growled into her body, teeth clenched around her neck, but with her own orgasm gushing over Sige's tool, which continued to push and shove as deep inside as he could go, but not knotting her. Yet.
But at last, after an agonizingly long time of the wolf bullying Taha's poor insides, he gave a few deep, rough shoves into her womanhood, hallmarked by a series of grunts and feral growls when that knot finally split her wide open, hilted, and now finally releasing directly into her womb. Burst after burst of cream painted her insides, the both of them coated in a fine layer of sweat, panting aloud, wordlessly worked up to the point of release several times over. Sige had released Taha's neck, instead dragging his tongue across her cheek from the side, lazily meeting her lips when she craned her head, the both of them panting into the other as tongues met tongues. What didn't fit inside Taha, her servant dribbled onto the floor, creating a small puddle of his desire under her well-used womanhood.
Panting, exhausted from almost an entire day's worth of rutting, they passed out on the carpeted, pillow-strewn floor. Despite being the servant and the master, with Sige's collar still on, he held her loosely around the waist as they drifted off.
Perhaps he was more than a mere servant.
Sige enjoyed the outdoors immensely, even though he had been dragging back a most recent bounty from his hunt. A single arrow is all it took, the deer slung over his shoulders as he made his way through the fall leaves. When he had first arrived, there was snow on the ground from the previous winter. It wasn't that long ago, and yet… It felt like a lifetime had passed.
He strung up the fresh kill for later, once he had finally reached the clearing in which the hut sat, on top of the small hill in the middle. He stepped inside, hanging his bow and quiver on the wall, as well as discarding the fall cloak he wore. He shuffled and brushed a few leaves from his fur as he made his way through the halls to the study, where he was fairly sure she was. After all, he could smell her, and doubtless she could smell him out if she desired as well.
He moved through the home with a certain grace that comes with familiarity, though he itched his bare neck and throat, clad in only a few leathers around his groin. He reached the study, stepping in to see Taha's familiar form hunched over a table, a finger following along lines from a tome she was reading, strewn in the middle of an explosion of written notes she'd no doubt taken. That blade rested on a stand in the middle of the desk, and she was reading aloud under her breath in a language he didn't recognize. He figured it was the language this particular tome was written in, and when he tread closer on silent feet, he was proven right, though she didn't seem to notice his presence, her eyes fixed on the dagger-like weapon before her, jagged and cruel-looking, with a dark sheen that seemed to not allow any light to escape.
The hands suddenly wrapped around her body provided ample distraction. She didn't get startled anymore by his sudden grasp, instead smiling and leaning back into his body. She felt him kiss her neck, making her giggle and raise her hands up to caress his naked neck. One hand of his was resting at her chest, caressing a full breast, while the other gently palmed her belly. Her voice was the first to ring out. “Success?"
His own voice soothed her to her core. “Success."
She shifted to get face-to-face with her lover, their lips meeting once more for what they figured was the millionth time they'd done so. Her stomach was slightly round, and would only grow rounder still, depending. “You're still studying that blade?"
“It's got my undivided attention."
Sige's hand pressed against her pregnant tummy ever so slightly. It had only been two months since they found out, but progress was being made. “I still think that Incarnate is remarkable. I'd be offended that you tried to have him killed for the longest time if I wasn't too busy falling for you."
Taha laughed, holding Sige's hand as it pressed to her stomach. “It's remarkable how fast you learn when you realize you know little."
“As you once did?"
“Aye. I'm not proud of it, but…"
“Regret is unbecoming of a goddess, love."
The wolfess barked out a laugh. “You flatter. I've not been a god for a pair of centuries. We've talked about this."
“Lucky me, to have a woman who was once a goddess as a mate."
“Lucky you that I didn't beat your ass when I learned I was with child."
Sige knelt before Taha, though his lips pressed to her belly with a tenderness that infatuated her for someone so large. “Aalum is still upset about his hand."
“He was intent on blood, of course I was going to defend you."
“You'd only been with me a month at that point, and you already sought to defend me?"
“I'm old-fashioned like that. And I could tell that beneath everything, you were a good woman and didn't know it. You just needed to learn."
He returned to his feet, planting another kiss on her lips that she returned. “Did I ever ask where, and how, you learned to fight like that?"
“I prefer to stay the mysterious, handsome stranger, come to sweep you off your feet."
She chuckled, her hands resting at his chest, covering scars both new and old, from his childhood to the ones gained fighting the year before, after they had been introduced to each other. She was a different person, it almost shocked her. But still, Sige held her tight to his body, pressing himself into her. He let out a contented breath, enjoying her company. But his eyes found that peculiar, jagged dagger again. “I thought you were done with the whole being slightly evil thing."
“Aden's mate gave it to me, asked if I could decipher the wards on it."
“Isn't that kid fighting in the war right now?"
Taha chuckled. “Thinking of going off to fight again?"
Sige pressed his hand to her stomach. “Not a chance."
