TwoKinds: The Light in Darkness (Fem! Clovis & Brutus) Prologue
#1 of TwoKinds: The Light in Darkness (Fem! Clovis & Brutus)
After reuniting together, Brutus and Clovis run into a small dilemma. Two years ago when Roan took Clovis away to be sold off to slave traders, she believed Brutus was up to the mutiny and felt betrayed. It may take a while for Clovis to be convinced that things aren't what they always seem.
(TwoKinds and the characters belong to Tom Fischbach. This is merely fanmade story.)
The walk home was long and painful for Clovis, knowing that Brutus had come to retrieve her after being separated for so long. This was very embarrassing.
_Why did Zen have to get this dumb wo_lf...? She glanced over at the large Keidran walking beside her, who seemed to be fixated staying on the trail. The silence was starting to kill her patience and decided to take initiative when the wolf began to speak as he slowed to a stop.
"Looks like we might be there soon enough. Town isn't too far ahead now...." He looked back at the half-breed who seemed to be distracted in her own thoughts, gaze catching elsewhere as if she didn't want to acknowledge his existence. Brutus could see what was going on and needed to say what was going on in his mind. "Is there anything you want to talk about....?"
"No." Clovis replied bluntly, huffing as she started down the path again and more ahead of the wolf before hearing his voice call out again.
"Don't tell me you're still mad...? I told you I didn't want you sold off and I was sorry..." He sighed, moving more toward her before she stopped him from even touching her. Like how he did before she was taken away.
"Yea well I still was! God dammit Brutus you don't understand how embarrassed I was! To be humiliated in front of all those people like.....like eye candy! It was disgusting and my dignity was stripped from me!"
Brutus wrapped his arms around her small frame, whispering softly in her ear, "Well I'm here now....and I'm not letting anyone take you away again."
She was tiny compared to him in size, easy to keep from walking away with his strength. Clovis could feel him behind her, immediately trying to contain her feelings for the wolf and his words that were like honey to her ears. It took everything for her defenses to stay up. She wanted to believe this was the same wolf who betrayed her, but here was Brutus trying to make amends for it all. Admittingly she missed this but wouldn't fall that easily again.
"Is it true..? Did you send Zen to bail me out of that slave auction?" The memories of that horrid auction came flowing back into her mind, the male giving her another gentle but tight squeeze with his arms.
"Well you didn't trust anyone else with your money...I was the only one who knew where it was kept. After they left the estate I had to find a way to get you back. So if that answers your question...Yes I was the one who hired him..It took awhile to get to you but I had to be sure it was the right time..." He stood up more straight and tried to be thorough with his answers. Clovis stood there listening and feeling not as cold toward the wolf as she had from their reunion.
He really did pay attention to details...
A smile came to her lips, turning around to face him and was met with a puzzled expression from Brutus. He couldn't figure it out but something told him that Clovis was starting to act like herself again. "You said town wasn't far from here? And how far from there to where we stay?"
"Hm? Oh! About a couple more miles on the outskirts..."
"Well at least it isn't far from the shops...Let's get going. If we want to make it before dark we should keep moving." She turned to keep walking but Brutus grabbed the female by the wrist to stop her again. "What the hell are you doing? Let go of-....."
Before she could retort further, he pulled her in by the back of her head and pressed his lips into hers as a hand slipped to her waist. This was exactly where they left off before everything went awry. Clovis kissed back reluctantly at first but gradually let her guard down. His nose pressed into hers as he pulled back, staring into her crimson orbs with that stupid grin. She cleared her throat and pulled away from him, straightening her clothes up as she made her way down the road.
"I....well....ahem...It was this way wasn't it? We should...uh....keep pushing on..."
