An'na to kuroi raikan - Episode 2
When life gives you lemons, you gotta.... realize you can't make lemonade cause life didn't give you any sugar.
'Crackling. The sound of a crackling fire is crisp in my ear. What is this? Why does my body hurt? Why-'
Eyelids open to show bright yellow irises. The creature's. It let out a soft groan before it tried to sit up.
“Ah! Don't move. You'll tear the stitches."
The creature moved a hand to its side to touch where he was run through with the sword before he reached out and pressed his padded human-like hand to her forehead. “Hello." The creature spoke out.
"Oh. Hello. Umm... My name's Anna. I... just turned 20, and I'm a senior in high school next year." She sighs, a little disappointed sounding, "Again. I'm still in school because I was held back a grade. I'm not like.. dumb or anything..." She scratched her head nervously, chuckling out. "But I had other ugh.... duties that year. I guess I should uhh... tell you how I got here?"
The creature tilted his head slightly. “Here?" It removed its hand from her face and brought it up to its own forehead.
“Yeah. My house. Then You can tell me about you. I've never met something from that forest that hasn't tried to kill me before."
The creature looked like it was trying to remember something. “Me…. Raikan…?"
“Raikan? What a nice name." Anna replied with a smile, to which the creature tried to mimic, showing off its teeth. This was when Anna noticed that, unlike a regular beast, this one did not have sharp fangs like you'd expect something that looked like a wolf to have.
“So Raikan… I had to bring you to my house because you got hurt. Do you remember?"
It Just stared at her. She was pretty sure it didn't fully understand everything she was saying to it. “I… Geez, Mary must know some kind of spell for learning… basic high school english."
“Chocolate." The creature said before pointing towards its open mouth.
“What? Oh. You want chocolate?" Anna started to reach into her pocket when she heard the creature speak again.
“Yes, please." That was the most structured sentence she had heard it say so far. When her hand came out of her pocket, it was lacking any chocolate.
“Sorry big guy, looks like I'm all out." Anna gave a nervous chuckle which only got more nervous sounding when she heard the wolf's stomach growl. “Oh yeah, I guess you must be hungry after a long night of healing. Heh..." She stood up so that she could go into her kitchen. Before moving away from the creature, she turned to it. “Stay. I don't want you hurting yourself and bleeding all over my carpet." Leaving away from the couch, Anna entered her kitchen, which was only a few feet from the living room she was in. The creature was just looking around her house. The black and white walls were oddly comforting to the creature.
Anna was looking through her refrigerator, trying to figure out something she could give such a large creature that would come close to filling it up. Since it appeared to be able to eat the chocolate, she could assume the normal no-nos for K9's eating habits could be ignored. Then again, she really had no reason to believe it was some type of wolf, even with its looks. It was a demon. Demons took all sorts of forms, sometimes even human ones. One looking like a large wolf wasn't out of the realm of possibility. Anna heard the door creak open behind her. She quickly turned as she feared the worst. She'd thought that Raikan might have gotten up and left the house. She was relieved when she saw it was just Mary that had come in. She had on her jogging gear, which was just jogging pants and a sports bra to keep her large chest at bay. She also had a jacket that matched the pants.
“Hey Anna. How's our injured pup doing? Did he say anything?" Mary asked with a raise of one of her eyebrows.
“Not much. Just that he wants chocolate." She replied. “ And how do you know it's a male?" She added on.
“Easy! Cause it-."
“And don't say it's cause it does have boobs." Anna quickly interrupted with.
“Hmph. Well besides that, I got a peak at his um.. Egg sack when I had to magic him off the ground."
Anna's face gave a slight twitch. “Please, never say that phrase again. K?"
“What do you mean? Egg sack? Should I say Nut sack? Fun bag? Johnny Two-shoes?"
“What?" Anna blurted out in confusion. “That's not… a thing."
“Oh, you know what I mean!" Mary Responded.
“Well anyway, I'm glad you're here. I was just thinking…" Anna paused before looking over at Raikan. “There's gotta be some kinda spell to make him smarter, right? It's pretty hard to talk to him when he doesn't know basic words. I wanna ask him some questions before we send him off."
“Hmm.." Mary hummed out to herself as she tapped her chin with her index finger. “I mean… I could give him an understanding of our collective vocab."
“How smart sounding. How do we do it?" Anna had a smile on her face. She was pretty interested in learning why Raikan didn't outright attack her in the forest.
“Simple. Just gotta make out with… the person you want to give the knowledge to. Heh, heh. Oops." Mary awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck as a goofy grin started to form on her face
“Whhhaaaattttt?"Anna's eyes went wide and a bead of sweat dropped down her forehead. “I've got to… make out with that thing? Are you sure it says that?"
“Well yeah. Says you have to exchange spit. I've used the spell before."
Anna's face flushed a deep red. “I don't… think I can do it."
“That's fine!" Mary shot Anna a cheerful smile before it turned into a more wicked grin. “I'm sure I'm smart enough to give him all the info he needs." Mary turns her head to look over at the shaggy beast, but he is gone from the couch. “Umm Anna. He's gone."
Anna quickly whipped around to take a look. “Yep. That he is." She sighed and slunk her head down low before walking off to search for him. “I'll be back. You just… start prepping that spell I guess."
“Will do Anna." Mary started running her tongue in circles around her lips to get them nice and moistened, watching as Anna disappeared around a corner. When she turned the corner, she could hear the faint sounds of a tv playing. It was coming from her room.
When she pushed her door open, she saw Raikan just sitting on her bed, staring at what was on TV. It was some nature show. IT was showing a wolf, hunting a deer in the snow.
“Hey." Anna called out to him to get his attention. Raikan had one hand on the side of his face, touching his muzzle while the other hand fed him pieces of chocolate he had found as he watched the screen. “Wolf….hunt..." His light, yet almost growly voice rumbled out.
“Raikan?" Anna seemed to snap him out of whatever trance the TV had him under. She thought about how most of the stuff he understood appeared to be commands a common dog would know, so she decided on a plan. “Come here boy."
His eyes lit up at this and he wasted no time in closing the distance between the two of them. Man did it still catch her off guard with how large he was. She began to lead him back to the kitchen where Mary was waiting on them. When they got back, Mary was sitting on the kitchen counter.
“Back already? I haven't had time to finish… prepping." She chuckled as she cupped her hands up to her chest and adjusted her breasts in her.
“You're having way too much fun with this!" She spouted out, pointing a finger at her, to which Mary just shot back another wicked grin. “Let's get this show on the road. I'm dying to learn about him."
Mary motioned over to the couch and Anna led the large creature over, sitting him down. Mary kicked one leg up onto the couch and leaned over a bit, trying to put herself at eye level with him. She moved a hand forward to brush some of the long, shaggy fur out of his face. That's when she saw his bright yellow eyes.
“Aww, he has the most beautiful eyes!" Mary proclaimed as she brought her hands up to her face to squish her cheeks.
“Mary! Focus! Stop flirting with the demon!" Anna quickly responded.
“Right. Right." Mary stood back before climbing onto his lap. She put her hands on his face so that she could position him to be looking at her. “Well pup, as much fun as it would be to teach you to spit in my mouth, Anna seems like she's in a hurry so…"
“Wait, he could have just spit in your-?" Anna started to say before she stopped mid sentence as Mary planted a kiss on Raikan. Of course, seeing as how they had to trade spit, Mary had to stick her tongue in his mouth and wiggle it around against his. Once she was doing this, she moved her hands from his head and began to do small motions with her hands, sometimes moving her fingers a certain way. A pink energy began to swirl around Mary and onto Raikan. Finally, she was able to pull back from the “kiss" and see if the spell worked.
“Well?" Mary asked the large beast as she stared up at him. He was also just staring back. He wasn't sure what was happening, but he didn't seem to have changed or anything. Mary slowly climbed off his lap and just looked at him. “Sorry Anna, doesn't look like it worked."
“Oh shoot." Anna said with a defeated sigh and slinking down of her head as Mary came to join her at her side. “Well maybe there's another, less awkward spell we can try?"
“Sentence. Forming." The voice spoke out.
Anna and Mary quickly looked over at Raikan. “Huh?"
“I can… form sentence. Sentences. Co…. Coherently." That's when he gasped loudly.
“What!?" Anna quickly asked him.
“Too much chocolate is really bad for you, but I wanna eat so much chocolate!" The large creature replied in an extremely sad tone.
“Oh. I suppose so." That was his first complete sentence? Beats trying to guess what he was saying based on only a few words. “So… Raikan. If you can tell us how you got here, I'll go buy you some chocolate."
“Hmm.." He hummed out as he thought to himself. “Well, you said you were gonna tell me how I got here."
“I meant how you got to the forest, not my house." Anna started to walk over to him. Mary was keeping her eyes trained on him. For some reason, a smart demon didn't seem like the best thing to let your guard down around.
“I...." He sat there for a moment, almost as if blanking out. “I don't remember actually. First thing I really remember was meeting you, and then…" He trailed off in his sentence.
“And then what?" Anna asked him, more curious as ever.
“Someone stabbed me." He sounded rather annoyed at the fact. “Hmm… I can still smell them."
“Huh? What do you-?" Anna's words were cut short when her doorbell rang. The two females just paused in place before Anna turned her head towards the front door. “You don't… think that's…"
Mary began to quietly panic. “Of course it is dude! That's just the thing that would happen right now. We promised to send Raikan back to Err… Wherever these things come from. I'll stall him. You hide the doggo." Mary scrambled to the front door. Before opening it, she made sure to once again adjust her breasts. A dumbass like Max was easy to distract. Once Mary saw Anna take Raikan out of the living room and back into her room, she opened the door.
“Hey there Maxwell." Mary said in a sultry, yet mocking tone as she leaned against the door frame.
“I'm looking for Anna." he sounded stern. Strictly business. He looked inside of the house before looking Mary up and down. She had her jogging top only slightly unzipped at the top, not showing too much cleavage. He knew when she acted like this, she was trying to hide something. He knew Mary didn't really like him all that much. “I've come to kill the beast."
“What the hell did Anna tell you? We don't kill." Mary rolled her eyes at him. There was no real point in trying to keep him distracted with her body when he was like this. “And anyway, Anna is in the shower. We just got back from a jog. We sent that big wolf through a portal. He's gone now. You don't have to worry about him eating anybody."
“Well can I come in?" He asked as he attempted to step inside.
“No!" Mary replied as she pushed him back. “Now that it's been handled, you two can go back to pretending you don't exist."
“What's that supposed to mean? Me and Anna both agreed that we should break up." A low hissing sound came from Max's side
“Heh…" Mary chuckled softly. “Sounds like you're getting angry. Careful not to melt all your stuff."
“Oh man! My Cell Phone's in there!" He quickly drops his bag and starts to go through it, tossing out the stuff that had started to burn.
Anna was sitting on her bed with Raikan. The two of them were watching the TV screen. This time it wasn't on a nature show. It was a music video. Some older song that was pretty catchy. Raikan was bobbing his head along to the music as it played. Anna just watched him. Even though she couldn't really see his face or facial features due to his fur, she could tell he enjoyed what he heard.
“So Raikan… You don't remember anything before meeting me? She asked in a soft voice. He just shook his head no and continued to bob it to the beat. She felt bad that he had gotten injured because of her, especially after saving them from that slime creature. The slime creature…
“Hey, so how did you know how to beat that slime monster? With your blood." If she could learn anything from him that would be useful, now was the time to do so. He stopped bobbing his head to the music as he appeared to be thinking.
“I… remember fighting things like that." His voice sounded a bit different. Slightly colder than it had before. “But I… don't remember anything before you. But I remember that. But I don't remember anything before you. But I remem-." Anna cut his sentence off when she quickly put her hand up to his forehead. It felt hot, but she didn't know if this was normal for him.
“Hey, it's okay. I won't ask you any more questions." She started to pat his head in a manner some would consider 'petting'. A low hum built in his chest as he closed his eyes and leaned into her hand. Just like a big dumb puppy. She shouldn't get too attached. They were going to have to send him back to where he came from. That's when she got an idea.
Max's bag was finished. Totally burned thanks to his sword. He had a very defeated look on his face as he kneeled over the destroyed bag.
“This is why you keep a sword in its sheath." Mary said, or rather sang out to him. “Well be at Brendan's house later if you REALLY need to talk to her that bad." Mary stepped back inside and closed the door. Making her way back to Anna's room, she pushed the door open and peeked in. “Everyone decent here?"
“Um, yes?" Anna replied.
“Aww." Mary stepped into the room and the first thing she focused on was Raikan listening to music with headphones on. “He seems like he's enjoying himself." Mary smiled a bit.
“I was actually hoping you could help me. Before we send him back, I want to… give him a makeover." A makeover wasn't something Anna ever suggested, so this caught Mary by surprise. “I think he'll fair a lot better wherever he's going without all the extra fur weighing him down."
“Well...I would feel bad if the poor little pup got into any trouble when we send him back." Mary snickered and climbed onto the bed just enough so she could reach over and take one of the headphones out of his ear. “Whatcha listening to?" She asked.
“Something called a 'Foo Fighter. I like it." He shot back a big, toothy smile at Mary. That was when she noticed how big his teeth really were. They weren't huge, but you could tell they were longer than a human's teeth.
“My, what big teeth you have." Mary said with a nervous chuckle.
“Hmm.." Raikan hummed out. “My brain is telling me that's a reference to something, but I don't know what." He shrugged before turning to Anna. “Hey Anna." She looked over at him.
“Yes?"
“I'm ugh…. Really hungry." His stomach gave another growl, this time a lot louder.
“Oh my gosh, I forgot to feed you!" Anna said, a wave of remorse hitting her.
In an unknown location, a group of 6 cloaked figures sit around a table. They all have golden cups in front of them, filled with a red liquid.
“Our ritual was a success." One of them started to say in a calm manner. “We were able to bring over the mineral with almost no problems."
“Almost?" One of them replied. This one had a more feminine sounding voice. “What do you mean by almost?"
One of them stood from the table and pushed his chair back. “It is nothing to worry about. Some Ryoko-sha from I sekai may have come through when the spell was cast. Nothing we can't handle."
“God dammit!" One of them jumped up from their chair, knocking it over. “You idiots always screw up when I'm not around! Remind me why I'M not in charge again?"
“Because you can't control yourself. That's why." A voice spoke from behind him. He turned to see a 7th hooded figure coming towards them.
“About time old man! Just where the hell have you-?" The man held up his hand to stop him from talking as he kept walking toward him. He picked up his chair for him and walked around to the other side of the table to take a seat in an empty chair.
“Now Ikari, if you don't mind sitting the fuck down so we can't get on with this mumbo jumbo bullshit?" The one he was talking to just grumbled before sitting down in his chair. “There is no need to worry. Everything went just as I planned it. The creatures will serve their part, and we will not fail."
“Hokori, you prideful piece of shit!" Ikari shouted out as he tossed his hood back. It was a young man, who seemed like he was in his early 20's. He had long black hair and a scar under his right eye. “You're gonna screw up everything and take us all down with you!"
The man just sighed. “You know, the hoods were for a reason."
“Screw your damn hoods!" Ikari shouted back. “Do you think this is a joke!? For someone who never believed in all of this stuff, you sure are using it to get ahead!"
“Enough!" Another of the hood men shouted out as he stood and pulled his hood. He was a tall, bald, brown skinned man. “Ikari's right. You treat this like a joke. Demon hunting is serious business! It's not easy."
“Ah yes." Hokori said with a chuckle. “So serious that my grandkid did it for most of her teenage life. Face it. You fools are washed up. There's no need for this… demon business when there aren't demons any more. At least not ones we can't handle. We need to expand. I hear a new business opened up in the downtown district. It's been getting a lot of attention. What say you and Okui pop down there and see what all the fuss is about?"
“Are you… asking us to do a shakedown?" Okui, the bald bald one asked him, raising an eyebrow.
“Of course not. Just… see how the business is and such. Like I said, I have a plan." A few chuckles came from Hokori before he stood from the chair and walked out.
The End
