Lance awoke to the loud sound of his alarm clock. A couple seconds later, he could hear Celia's alarm in the next room. As he sat up to shut off the annoyance, Lance groaned with the realization that it was Monday morning. The first day of school had arrived. The memories of the fantastic dream that was so rudely interrupted faded, replaced by the dread of a new year of school. Lance let out a deep sigh as he stood up, still wishing he was sleeping.

Celia woke to her alarm in quick fashion. Standing up, she straightened her pink night shirt, straightened up her hair as best she could, and shut off her alarm. She was excited, because it meant she would get to catch up with her friends. The friends that, while they went to the same school, were just far enough away that they didn't get to play very much over the Summer break.

Celia quickly left her room and walked to Lance's door. Not even bothering to knock, Celia opened up the door to make sure her twin brother had gotten up. Indeed he was up and about, as his naked form stood in front of his closet.

"Hey Lance. Haven't put on a shirt yet? You know you can't go without clothes today," Celia giggled.

"I wish I could," Lance sighed. He never was a fan of clothes. If he could, he'd always be naked. But public nudity isn't legal, a fact that Lance knew and hated. He was always told it's for the safety of citizens, both young and old. To ensure they aren't easy prey for sexual deviants. But he hated clothes so much.

Celia left Lance's room and went down the hall to check on Devin. She knew her little brother didn't need to be up for another hour, but she wanted to see Devin before his first day of Kindergarten. Much to her surprise, Devin was already awake when she opened the door. "Good morning Devin," Celia smiled.

"Mornin' Ce-Ce," Devin beamed, as he jumped out of bed and tackled his big sis. Celia almost fell to the ground, but was able to regain her balance.

"Geez, Devvy, you're getting strong," Celia giggled. "I didn't hear your alarm go off. How long have you been up?"

"Umm...About an hour, I think," Devin responded. "I'm a bit scared of Kindergarten," Devin's voice wavered a bit thanks to his nerves.

"Aww, you'll be fine, Dev. Besides, you'll have Krystal with you," Celia smiled, then hugged her brother. "Everything will be okay. You'll be there for a few hours, and then you'll come back home. Nothing bad is going to happen, okay?" Celia tousled Devin's hair as she spoke, trying to get him to calm down a bit.

"Okay, Ce-Ce. If you say so," Devin sighed.

"Okay kids, time to get ready for breakfast," came a voice from the hallway. Celia and Devin looked to see their mother, in her nightgown, while their father walked behind her wearing his boxer shorts.

"Okay mom," Devin and Celia said in unison.

Travis sat at the dining table while Vera was cooking breakfast, both of them still wearing their sleepwear. Their children were still upstairs getting ready for the first day of the new school year. "It will be nice having some quiet time alone," Vera said with a hint of longing in her voice.

"Yeah, it will be nice to work without having them bouncing around the house," Travis laughed as he glanced at the newspaper in front of him. "Though I'm guessing you were getting at something else."

Vera giggled, "No, I like having the kids around for that, silly. But maybe once we're done with work for the day, we can snuggle on the couch and watch a movie."

Vera walked away from the stove for a moment to give her brother a big hug, which Travis was more than happy to reciprocate. The married twins started kissing, just as Lance, Celia, and Devin walked in, all dressed and ready for school. The adults had not yet noticed their presence, until they heard giggling from the doorway. The parents awkwardly glanced over and saw their kids, smiling. Travis and Vera started to blush, and Vera quickly walked back to continue cooking breakfast. "Aww, you didn't have to stop," Celia chuckled.

"So... I see you're all set already, huh?" Travis shyly fussed with the newspaper.

"Yeah, Lance and I can pretty much do it ourselves, but I helped Devin get his stuff ready," Celia responded with a smile.

"That's so nice, Celia. Thank you," Vera glanced over in between placing eggs on a plate.

Lance nudged Celia in the side. "Oh, and Lance helped, too."

"Thank you Lance," Vera giggled as Lance smiled brightly.

"So Devin, are you excited about starting Kindergarten?" Travis looked at his youngest child who seemed to shy away upon hearing the question.

"I'm a lil scared, Daddy," Devin looked to be on the verge of tears, causing Celia to kneel down and hug him.

"You'll be fine, Devvy. Don't worry," Celia kissed Devin on the forehead.

"Your sister is right, Dev. Kindergarten is nothing to be afraid of. Plus, Krystal is going to be there. I'm sure all the kids are as nervous as you. Besides, it's only for a few hours, then you'll be back home," Travis smiled while Lance walked behind Devin and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah, Dev, Celia and I went to Kindergarten, and we had a blast, right sis?" Lance smiled as Devin seemed to gain some confidence.

"So it'll be fun?" Devin looked around the room at his family who smiled back.

"Of course, Devin. You'll have so much fun that the first day will be over before you know it, and you won't be able to wait for tomorrow," Vera smiled as she started placing plates on the table. "Now let's sit down and have breakfast before your buses arrive."

Lance, Celia, and Devin walked down the street to the bus stop, each dressed in their nicer clothes and carrying their backpacks. The three kittens stopped at the corner, where a few other neighborhood children had already gathered. As they got closer to the group, a few friends noticed their arrival. "Hey Lance!" the coyote yelled. "It's weird seeing you with clothes on." The coyote started to giggle, causing his mouse friend to blush.

"Very funny, Mark," Lance sighed looking over at the mouse boy. "'Sup Ryan?"

Ryan started fidgeting with his backpack as Lance looked on. "Umm...Not much."

Standing next to Ryan was his younger sister, Kelly, who had her arm wrapped around his and her cheek nuzzling his shoulder. "Hi Celia! You excited about school?"

Celia looked at Kelly and smiled. "Of course! But Devin is still scared about his first day."

A younger fox girl peeked out from behind Kelly and looked at Devin. "Aww, this is Devin? He's cute. Don't be afraid, school is fun."

Devin blushed and clutched Celia's arm. "Hi Sandy. Thanks for trying, but I don't think Devin will get over his fear until he actually gets to Kindergarten and experiences it himself," Celia smiled.

Soon after, a school bus came down the street and stopped at the corner, opening its doors for the Elementary school kids. Lance and Celia took one last look at Devin before boarding. "We'll see you when you get home, Devin. Lance and I have a very special surprise planned for tonight." Kissing her young brother on the cheek, Celia smiled and stepped back toward the bus. "Don't worry. I'm sure Krystal will be coming along soon. You'll have fun," Celia blew a kiss as she climbed up the stairs.

"Yeah, Dev, everything will be fine," Lance said, giving a thumbs up while following Celia onto the bus. The doors closed, and the bus left, leaving Devin alone at the corner of the street.

Devin started to softly cry, when he heard a familiar voice behind him. "Hey Devvy!" It was Krystal, Devin's cousin and girlfriend. She was accompanied by her mother, Brianna.

"Hey cutie, you here all alone?" Brianna asked with a smile.

"Umm...Lance an' Ce-Ce walked me here, but they left on the bus already," Devin sniffled as he wiped away his tears.

"Aww, are you scared, hon? Don't worry, Auntie Bri is here," Brianna leaned down and hugged Devin, kissing him on the cheek. "Your mommy and daddy called and asked me to send you their love. They would have been here themselves, but they're pretty backed up on work and needed to get started really early today. You and the twins left so quickly that they couldn't give you guys any hugs or kisses."

Krystal walked over to Devin and gave him a big hug and a kiss on the lips. Just as Devin started to open his mouth to let their tongues mingle, Brianna noticed the bus coming. "Oh, here's your bus, dears. Make sure you two have everything, now." Brianna gave Krystal and Devin a hug and kiss, and waved goodbye as they boarded the bus. Krystal had Devin's hand while they walked up the stairs in an effort to make sure he got on the bus in a timely fashion. A few seconds later, the bus started to pull away as Devin watched his Auntie Bri become a distant object in the window. Devin started to tear up once more, but Krystal started to snuggle up against him and kissed him on his cheek. Devin sighed, and gave Krystal a kiss in return. His cousin's presence was helping ease his fears.

Celia and Lance arrived at school and made their way to their classroom. The teacher wasn't in the room, but each desk had a piece of paper with the assigned student's name. It was still twenty minutes before the start of school, so the other kids were forming groups and chatting away. Celia found her friends and ran over to say hi, while Lance stayed with Mark and Ryan. "So Ryan, how's that new ePhone thing?"

The mouse blushed as Lance looked at him. "Umm...well... I-It's a really neat device. It has GPS, email, web browsing, and a bunch of other stuff. Unfortunately school rules say I can't bring it. Eheheh."

"It also has a camera. I saw Ryan taking some really sexy photos of you last time you were over his house. He loves seeing you naked." Mark laughed as Ryan scowled, his cheeks turning bright red. Lance chuckled in an attempt to hide his own embarrassment.

Suddenly the classroom door opened and a tall meerkat walked in. He wore a nice button shirt with a blue tie, and appeared to be in his 40s. He quietly wrote his name, Mr. Andrews, on the chalkboard before turning around and clearing his throat. "Good morning. I hope everyone is here. Please find your seats. The bell will ring in a few moments." The children all scrambled for their desks, and shortly after everyone was settled, the bell rang and the school day begun.

Orientation at the Kindergarten was finally wrapping up. It had been nearly forty minutes since Devin and Krystal had arrived, and both had become quite bored with the process so far. All the students had to be told the Kindergarten rules as well as where everything was located. Finally they were dismissed and guided to their classrooms.

All around him Devin saw children he had never seen before. There never were many children in their neighborhood, and with his cousins next door he never had an urge to go play with anyone else. Devin looked around and saw the teacher, as she took a head count of the children entering her room. The room itself lacked desks, which Devin had always seen in classrooms on television. Instead it had a couple tables in the corner with some chairs, another table in the front of the room with a bunch of supplies, and finally a chair in the middle of the room around which were ten cushions forming a half-circle.

"Well, it looks like everyone is here. Shall we get started?" The teacher was a pretty koala woman dressed in a blue shirt and khaki pants. "My name is Miss Ayers. I am your Kindergarten teacher. Now gather around in a half-circle and let's all introduce ourselves." Miss Ayers moved the chair and stood in the center of the cushions as the children started sitting down, their eyes focused on her.

"Okay, let's start with you and go this way," Miss Ayers pointed at the corgi boy and motioned clockwise.

"I'm Keith!" the corgi exclaimed. The children went down the line introducing themselves. There was Rachel, a raccoon girl; a boy chimpanzee named Kenneth; Daniel and Mikey, the squirrel twins; Chelsea, who appeared to be a fox/wolf mix; next was a bunny named Nathan; and finally a kangaroo girl called Emily.

Then came Devin's turn. "Umm...I'm Devin," he said nervously, the eyes of the class fixated on him.

"Oh yeah, I remember your name. I had Lance and Celia in my class when they were your age. I think you were born during the school year. They talked about you so much." Miss Ayers smiled, but Devin couldn't help but blush. "It's so nice to finally meet you, Devin. Now our last classmate. What is your name?"

"My name is Krystal, and Devin's my boyfriend," Krystal clenched Devin's arm causing him to blush even more. Some stifled giggles could be heard, and the teacher smiled.

"I see. Well you two sure do make a cute couple. You know, Krystal, I remember having Jack when he was your age. I heard about Tanya, but she was in another class. I remember Jack was quite the flirt, though. I suspect he's still up to his old tricks?" Miss Ayers sighed.

"Well he and Tanya are boyfriend girlfriend, so..." Krystal's voice trailed off.

"Oh, I see. I figured those two would probably fall for each other. From the sounds of things, Tanya was as much of a flirt as Jack, so it seems only natural." Miss Ayers chuckled as she looked at the kids. "Well, I think we should get started with class."

Meanwhile, back at home, Travis and Vera were busy with work. Vera sat at the computer desk, tablet in hand and art program displaying her most recent, professional project. Travis sat on the couch, laptop resting in his lap, with the current revision of his children's book open in his favorite word processor. It had been an hour since the kids left for school, and the two had been hard at work since shortly after breakfast.

Travis finished proofreading his current progress when he glanced up from his screen to look at his twin. "So, you think Devin is doing okay?"

The sudden break in the silence startled Vera, causing her to lose her concentration and send the cursor sailing across the screen, leaving a trail of color behind it. "Dammit, Travis. Look what you made me do." Vera sighed, "At least I can hit Undo."

"Sorry, hon. I didn't mean it. I just needed a little break from staring at this screen for an hour." Travis giggled softly at his sister's reaction.

Vera sighed once more and put down the tablet and pen. She turned around in her chair to face Travis, somewhat irritated by his giggling. "Yeah, I guess we could both use a small break. But we both have deadlines today, you know. We can't take a lot of breaks like we usually do." It was unusual that they both had deadlines set for the same day, and even more unusual that said deadlines would land on the first day of school. Even worse was the fact that it's Devin's first day of school, causing both Travis and Vera a great amount of frustration and sadness at not being able to see off their youngest. They were both determined to finish in time to see him come off the bus, which meant fewer breaks.

"I know, I know. But I just worry about Devin." Travis set the laptop on the table in front of him. He stood up and walked into the kitchen to grab something to drink.

"I'm sure he's doing fine. Devin may be a little scared, but he has Krissy with him. Plus, they have the same Kindergarten teacher that Lance and Celia had. We met her, remember? She's so nice. Devin will love her." Vera smiled as she tried to reassure her husband.

"Yeah, I suppose you're right." Travis smiled, looking at his twin.

"I always am." She snickered. "By the way," Vera added, "When are you going to stop being such a scaredy cat? I mean, Lance and Devin have an excuse. They're just kids. But you? You're an adult. You big scaredy cat." Vera stuck her tongue out while Travis scowled.

"Oh grow up, sis. Are you going to keep stooping to that level? Besides, we all know you're a big crybaby." Travis fired back.

"I'm a girl. I'm allowed to be a crybaby. So there!" Vera stuck out her tongue again, and Travis did the same back at her. After a few tense moments, the twins started giggling. "Ah, it's nice being able to do that and laugh about it." Vera chuckled as she turned back toward the monitor.

"Yeah, I'm sure Lance and Celia will start having more fun with it in a few years. Right now they're still pretty nasty." Travis set down his cup and picked up his laptop. The elder twins returned to work, determined to hit their milestones before school let out.

The Kindergarten students had spent most of the day doing activities of their own choosing. There was only a half hour left in the school day. Walking to the center of the half-circle of cushions, Miss Ayers called out to the class. "Okay kids, put down what you're doing and come here. There's a special lesson I need to give today, and it will take up the rest of the time we have today." The students gathered around and sat in the same order they did at the start of school, and looked up at their teacher.

"Well, I'm sure you all have heard some of this from your parents, but we teachers are required to tell you this, so please bear with me," the koala sighed. "First, raise your hands if you know what sex is." All the students quickly raised their hands. "Good. I don't have to cover that. Now I'm sure you know that it's okay for kids your age to have sex, no matter the age of your partner. As long as you and your partner agree, it's okay. However, if at any time you or your partner don't like what's going on, you can tell them to stop."

The students nodded and some rolled their eyes. "Yes, I can tell from your expressions you've heard that before. How many of you are sexually active?" Krystal and Nathan raised their hands immediately. Seeing her boyfriend's shyness, Krystal poked Devin in the side, then forcibly raised his hand. "Okay. Now not everyone becomes sexually active at the same age. In fact, few kids your age are interested in sex. Many of you won't be interested until you reach puberty. But that's an entirely different matter altogether."

Krystal and Devin looked at each other, and then the clock, counting down the minutes before they could go home. The lesson, while required, was boring the students, who already knew everything being taught. Ms. Ayers knew this, and tried to liven things up, but to no avail. She could only keep going until the bell rang.

Celia stared at the clock in her fifth grade classroom. Still a half hour until school let out. She desperately wanted to get home and see how Devin's day went. She occasionally glanced at Lance, who was moved to the other side of the room earlier in the day, because the twins kept passing notes to each other. Suddenly, a voice snapped Celia out of her daze. "Miss Richter, would you please pay attention? I don't want to have to ask you again," the teacher scolded.

"Sorry Mister Andrews. I promise it won't happen again," Celia lowered her head and blushed as tears started to flow down her cheeks, the embarrassment of continued reprimands weighing heavily on her mind.

"I hope for your sake that this isn't an indication of how the school year will go," the meerkat said, glaring at the kitten. "Now then, where were we?"

Lance looked over at Celia, who was fighting to control her tears. He knew his sister was worried about their brother. She worried about Devin as if she was his mother. Surely the first day of school weighed heavily on her mind. However, Lance knew that she was going to get in serious trouble if this continued. Thankfully the school day was almost over, and hopefully she would calm down after this.

School had let out, but Lance and Celia were told to stay in the classroom for a few more minutes. Their teacher, Mr. Andrews, looked down at the twins, who in turn looked toward the floor. Celia had calmed down from the earlier incident, but the tears still stained her face. The teacher spoke first, "I am disappointed in you two. At your age you should know that this sort of behavior isn't allowed in school. You can't be talking or passing notes in the middle of class. I'll let you two sit next to each other again, but I want you two to behave. No looking at each other's papers, no passing notes, no talking. You pay attention to me at all times, is that clear?"

The twins both nodded and replied, "Yes sir." Mr. Andrews let the kids leave, and a short while later they were on their bus, eagerly anticipating the arrival back home. More than anything, they wanted to hear how Devin's first day of school went.

Lance and Celia looked out the window as their bus arrived at their stop. Quickly they made their way to the exit and saw Brianna waiting at the corner and their parents a few houses down, walking toward the bus stop. "Welcome home, dears. I hope you had fun," Brianna smiled at her younger cousins.

Travis and Vera arrived and gave each of the twins a hug. "Did you two have a nice day of school?" Vera asked.

Lance looked at Celia, then to Brianna and his parents. "Well, Celia and I got into a little trouble... But we promise it won't happen again."

Travis frowned and Celia looked toward the ground. "Well, I should hope you two behave yourself in the future. I can understand being a little wound up on the first day back, but you know better than to break the rules."

"Yes, dad," Celia mumbled.

Brianna looked down the street and pointed, "Here comes the Kindergarten bus!" Celia's eyes opened wide as she watched the bus come to a stop and open its doors. Soon Krystal and Devin appeared and walked down the steps, hand in hand. Once on the ground, Krystal ran toward her mother while Devin walked toward his family.

"Hi Mommy!" Krystal yelled.

"Hi honey! Did you enjoy Kindergarten?" Brianna picked up her daughter and gave her a big hug.

"Uh huh. Devvy an' I met a bunch of other kids and our teacher is really nice."

Celia hugged Devin tightly while the others surrounded him to pat him on the back and lovingly tousle his long hair. "How about you, Devvy? Did you have fun? Celia inquired.

"Yeah. It was pretty good, I guess," Devin blushed as he glanced toward Krystal. "She told everyone I'm her boyfriend."

"Aww. That's so cute!" Celia squealed. Devin blushed more and shied away, causing his family to giggle.

"Come on, Devin. It's not that bad. Besides, it's the truth, right?" Vera said, picking up her youngest for a hug.

"Mommy, where's Daddy?" Krystal asked.

"Oh, he's out picking up Jack and Tanya, remember?" Brianna set Krystal back on the ground.

"Oh yeah. I forgot."

Vera let Devin back down and turned to Travis and then everyone else. "Well, I guess we should all head on home, huh?"

The day was winding to a close, but the younger twins had a special night planned for their little brother. Lance brought Devin to Celia's room, where their sister stood waiting. She prepared the alarm clock for the next morning and removed her clothes. In her left hand was a vibrator, and in her other hand was a child sized strap-on.
