#1 of Spending New Years

Sorry It's been so long everyone. There have been several changes in my life recently, streching from the fight with my parents to my move to live with my best friend and boyfriend :3 Unfortunately, this caused a lack of the internets for a while, and no time to write, but now, i give you my next chapter, hopefully the next one won't take as long this time :3

As always, comments, concerns, and suggestions are heavily appreciated x3

The last few days of winter break seemed to fly by as Oliver prepared to see Aran once more. They spoke for hours on the internet, talking about their goals after high school ended for them this year and their worries about how people would react to their relationship. Oliver didn't have much to worry about; he didn't have a reputation to ruin. Aran, on the other paw, had his place within the football team that could easily be lost if any of the other guys on the team decided to complain. There was also his father to contend with... being the coach, he would be the first to know if something went wrong with his players.

Aran's father, Marvin, was a tall, hulking black cat, his fur the same color and sheen as Aran's. Aran never inherited his father's size, but he did get his intellect, and Aran knew his father well enough to know what would happen to him should his father find out he was dating another boy.

Oliver pondered for a long time as to how he would approach telling his family about his relationship. His sister was a flirt, and sometimes a bit ditzy, but she wasn't stupid, and especially where it concerned her own twin. She knew something was different about the way Oliver carried himself as he walked, and confronted him in the kitchen one night about it while Oliver was getting a sandwich to eat while reading one of his favorite books. Oliver told his sister everything, and she said she understood completely, and was happy for him. His mother would probably be a different story. Alyssa loved Oliver unconditionally, but would most certainly throw a fit if she found out about his preferences. She might come around, eventually, but for now it was best to stay quiet. Olivia agreed with him completely, and decided it was for the best to keep their mother in the dark as long as possible.

The first day back to school after winter break was surreal for Oliver, who couldn't keep his excitement under control. His teachers noticed especially. His math teacher, a rather large black bear named Mr. Gruner, commented on his exceptional effort as he worked his way through the daily reading assignment. Oliver hated math with a passion; it was the only school subject he couldn't quite grasp.

As the day progressed, Oliver began to get more and more anxious about seeing Aran again. When lunch finally rolled around, Oliver moved as quickly as was reasonable getting from one side of the building to the other. Unfortunately for Oliver, "reasonable" meant getting yelled at quite a few times to slow down, and almost knocking a poor 7th grader down a flight of stairs.

In the lunchroom, Oliver spotted Aran sitting with a group of classmates, a couple of whom he recognized. Oddly enough, among them was his friend Stephanie, who, among other things wasn't really well liked by the popular students due to her insane lack of school spirit. Stephanie must have gotten an invitation to sit near Aran's group by Aran himself; come to think of it, Oliver felt rather ashamed that he hadn't talked to Stephanie at all today. He remembered sitting next to her in a couple classes, but never actually spoke to her, being far too preoccupied with thoughts of seeing Aran again.

"Hey Oliver!" Aran nearly shouted across the lunchroom, waving a paw frantically in the air to get is clearly already obtained attention.

Oliver shook his head in relief, he had been worried all day that New Year's Eve was a fluke, and that Aran didn't really want to see him after break. But all seemed well, and Oliver wasn't intent on messing anything up.

Oliver sat down across the rectangular tables from Aran, sitting between Stephanie and a female fox he didn't recognize from the last semester.

Aran broke the awkward silence. "Oliver, that's Camille Labonte' she's actually the pen-pal I've had since second grade, and she decided she'd spend a semester abroad."

"Nice to meet you, Camille." Oliver stuck out a rather timid paw for a shake, the French girl giving him an odd look as he did so.

"The pleasure is all mine, really." Her Voice was as flowing as water as she pulled Oliver into a slightly uncomfortable hug. Jumping back, rather startled by Oliver's squirming, she apologized. "I'm sorry if I scared you. Where I'm from, we only hug each other; it's much more welcoming that way."

"It's Alright. I enjoy hugs, I hate surprises." Oliver leaned over to give her a friendlier hug this time, the action reciprocated in full.

The group caught up with each other, Aran questioning Camille about her life in France, this being the first time he's spoken to her in real life. Stephanie recounted her entire break to Oliver, getting down to exactly how boring every minute without him was. Oliver felt a slight nudge against his foot, and looking down, realized it was Aran playing with him silently. Oliver nudged back, and giggled at the feeling of having someone to do this sort of thing with.

"What's so funny, Oliver?" Stephanie tilted her head to the side, trying to get a better idea as to what Oliver was staring dreamily at.

"Oh? Nothing." Oliver nudged Aran's foot slightly harder in an attempt to get his attention, which succeeded. Unfortunately, with his love staring him in the eyes, Oliver suddenly couldn't remember what he wanted to say.

Aran decided to take action and stood up, taking his mostly untouched cafeteria food with him. "Come on, Oliver, we need to hurry or we'll miss class."

"But the bell doesn't ring for another ten minutes." Oliver protested.

"I know." Aran continued to walk out of the lunchroom, emptying his tray and stacking it with the others. Oliver jumped up to follow, nearly knocking Stephanie over in the process. "Sorry, Steph." Was all Oliver could get out before rushing off to catch up to his boyfriend, wondering to himself where he could possibly want to go this soon before class.

Oliver soon got his answer; as Aran stopped him in the hallway, grabbing his hand and practically dragging him down a side hall. The hall soon terminated at a double door that led out into a courtyard Oliver had never noticed at his school before. As he was about to question it, Aran explained. "This courtyard is where the senior science labs perform some of their more...volatile...experiments. These doors are the only way in or out, no windows, no vents, and no ladders. There's that tree in the corner, but that's only an out, really. This way, nothing gets destroyed when stuff goes boom."

"Oh." Was all Oliver could say as he stared at the beauty of the small yard. It was winter, and the first day back, so none of the classes had done anything to disturb the snow. Every surface was covered in snow, sparkling in the noonday light. After a moment, he turned, and licked Aran on the nose. "It's beautiful."

"I know...it matches you perfectly." Aran said, hugging Oliver close, "it's just as pure, just as beautiful, and just as bright."

Oliver blushed at that, but he didn't get to for long, before Aran pulled his chin up to meet his own, kissing him slowly and gently...Oliver returned the kiss in kind, feeling Aran's rough tongue seek entrance, and after a moment, allowing him to explore his mouth. The pair continued for what felt like hours, finally falling down into the snow, Oliver on top of Aran, to kiss even more passionately than they ever had before. Aran reached a hand down Oliver's jeans, rubbing his hand across a certain piece of flesh through his underwear. Oliver moaned into the kiss before realizing what was happening and pulling Aran's hand back up to kiss it, shaking his head gently. They kissed again for some time, just enjoying the beauty of the small place they shared, murring quietly at the bliss they shared together. The kiss continued forever in Oliver's head, even after the bell rang for class, and Aran left him walking into class with the three words that made him want to sing, even though he was pretty sure nobody wanted to hear that.

"I'll miss you."
