Silver and Gold – Home – ch 6
#6 of Silver and Gold
My eyes felt heavy and stiff as I tried to open them once more, the burled mass in front of me was slow to clear.
I was in a different kennel, the air was full of the scent of disinfectant and other dogs but Kris was nowhere in sight and there was no fresh sent of him anywhere, I know that he sometimes went for a walk with a nurse or on his own but the fact that I could not pick up any scent of him anywhere was worrying me a little.
I did feel a little better and the stiffness had all but gone but the pain in the muscles and joints in my hip and leg still hurt. Trying to stand willing my shaky legs to hold and support me. I gritted my teeth through the pain as I forced my legs to move, I slowly managed to stand on 3 shaky legs. Moving to the front of the kennel looking for Kris or the nurses but I still couldn't see anyone, wincing every time my hip moved with each hop of my good leg, but nothing.
I slowly tried to turn around, not so easy on 3 shaky legs. My back leg gave out with weight and the movement. I tried to catch myself with my right leg as you would but only to yelp in pain as the slightest weight was put upon it, I fell onto my left side gasping for air as the pain continued to sting and spike through me, I whined and groaned with each throb.
"Steady boy" Jane and one of the nurses entered the kennel quickly.
"It's ok Blackie, just stay still" the nurse said as she gently lifted me over to the bed with Jane.
Jane told the nurse that she could go home early as it had been a long day and she would sort out the rest of the animals for night.
"Thanks Jane" she gave Jane a warm but weary smile "and thank you Blackie you saved my life yesterday" she kissed me on the nose and left quickly
I quickly realised she was the nurse from the other day when it all kicked off, Jane just smiled and said good bye while sitting next to me as she gently lifted my head onto her lap.
"I think you made a friend there."
"Maybe but she would never know it was me when I'm in my human form" I felt so relaxed and content as I lay there, feeling the memories of that day wash away with each stroke of her hand.
"True but you did a good thing protecting her and thank you, but most of all thank you for protecting Kris........" she looked very thoughtful and distant for a moment "thank you for protecting him from himself."
"What do you mean?"
"You stopped him from killing the hunter, for that me and Luke are grateful" I just gave her a confused look, "Kris has a habit of giving into his pack and alpha instincts too much thus not using his brain enough when it comes to difficult situations that require it." I gave her a soft smile but I was still not sure what she meant.
"You stopped him from making the situation worse for all of us, by that I mean that you stopped him from taking the matter into his own hands and letting the law take its course. You see if a hunter is killed another will come but if a hunter is caught other hunters would think that they were careless and hopefully not suspect"
"Oh, I just didn't see any point in it as the damage had already been done and it would justify what he tried to do. Where is Kris anyway?"
"Are we missing him?" she had a large grin as she looked at me.
"Well yes and no, it's nice to have the company but I do already have a shadow" I tried to stop the heat from building in my face as I blushed, I hope it doesn't show through my coat.
"Well he's quite taken with you, when he came back from school on Friday he just went on and on about how dare you talk to him like that and that you did not seem to acknowledge him as an alpha. He was a bit pissed all night but when he found out what was going on he completely changed, he was sad for you and he somehow thought it was his fault in some way and he wants to make you apart of his pack"
I was a little stunned that he wanted me in his pack, I know little about how a pack works apart from what I have read about wolves but werewolves are a different story all together and by the sounds of it he's the alpha of the pack, should I except? He has helped me in more than one way, he's kind and attentive but would I know how to act in pack? By the sounds of it it's very complicated but would I know what to do and how to do it, Luke did say he would help me but still.
I looked up to see Jane starring at me caringly, she was just as kind as Luke or Kris. One thing that she told me confused me a little was that Kris was an alpha of a pack.
"I would have thought that Luke was the alpha of your pack not Kris because of his age"
"Kris is alpha of the adolescent male pack but Luke is alpha of the main pack, all in all there are about 36 of us in the main pack, 37 if we include you which we will and don't worry about a thing. Me, Luke and Kris will look after you."
"Oh and back to your original question Kris has gone home to 'change' and..." she quickly looked at her watch "and he should be here to pick you up in about 20 minutes"
"Why he's coming to pick me up? I haven't fully recovered yet and I can't walk very well if at all!"
"I said don't worry, you're going to be staying with us for the time being, you still need be looked after both mentally and physically, you need to be in an environment that's safer than this one and that it will be a full moon in 3 days time" she was gently scratching behind my ears as she spoke, but something confused me.
"What has the full moon got to do with it?"
"Well I don't particularly want a big black werewolf scaring the life out of the other animals and I think the security guard might just notice a rather big black wolf in a kennel" she laughed lightly.
"What do you mean? The full moon doesn't affect me"
"What!? You don't change into your werewolf form during the full moon!?" she looked shocked.
"No and I have never been in my 'werewolf' form and as far as I know I can just go into my human or wolf form, I have tried when I was younger but I just end up with bad headache and that's it" She looked stunned and confused as she looked me over almost as if she was looking for something that could not be seen.
"I think Luke will want to have a talk with you about it. You're not in trouble but you should be able to go into werewolf form from a young age, Kris could at 13" she had a rather confused and thoughtful look about her.
"Common lets sort these bandages out"
We talked about the 'pack' and the stuff that goes on with in it, about how they all work with each other in one way or another and keep an eye out for hunters. They would keep in contact with other packs in other states and areas by passing and sharing information and generally helping each other out.
She also told me about her other son, Kris's 12 year old little brother Ryan. He was starting to learn how to control his changes, she also told me about the first time Kris saw her and Luke in their were forms.
"It took us 2 hours to get him to come out from under his bed" she laughed as she described what had happened.
"That's only because you where both in your were forms when you tried to get me to come out, you know it's not very nice to have 2 big scary weredogs looking at you when you're 7 while your trapped under a bed" Kris was leaning against the door frame that lead to the garden.
"Well it was your own fault you did ask to see us in our were forms and when did you get here?"
"Only a minute or two ago, so how's the big bad wolf then?" he gave me a large grin.
"A little sore and a tad stiff but getting there and what makes me bad in the first place?"
"Oh I don't know just the fact that you flicked a fully grown man like a flea over 10 feet and the fact that you did it in your wolf form with a severely injured leg" I just stuck my tongue out at him which he quickly returned.
"So are you ready to go mum?"
"Yep all I need to do is lock the door."
I went to get up slowly trying to get to my feet only to be push back down by Kris.
"What do you think you are doing?" he gave me an authoritative look.
"Getting up to walk, why how else am I going to move around?"
Before I had a chance to react or object Kris quickly but gently picked me up and held me to his chest with his arms around my legs supporting my chest and hips.
"Like this" he had very smug face.
"Put me down, I think I can manage on my own thank you"
"Nope" he just grinned at me.
"You're a git, you know that" he just laughed as he walked out the door followed by Jane who then locked it.
The car ride was thankfully smooth and uneventful, they talked lightly about things to do with the pack while I lay in the back snoozing lightly as Jane gave me some more pain killers before we left. There was not much point in seeing where we were going as I would not recognise any of the local land marks. I got the odd glimpse of the signs and street names but they didn't mean anything to me. All I could think about during the journey was what it would be like to be a part of a pack and to stay with Kris and his family for a while, would I have a specific roll or job or would I start at the bottom and work my way up as it is with normal wolves but most of all would they like me?
"You all right back there? You're a little quiet" Jane turned around in her seat to look at me when Kris spoke.
"Yeah just thinking about stuff" I said in between a yawn.
"Those drug really take it out of you don't they. They don't seem to do much to us, must because you a werewolf and not a weredog"
"I don't know just as long as it keeps the pain at bay I don't mind all that much" I yawned again and stretched my front legs "Argh I can't wait to back into my human form!"
"That's not really a good idea" Jane looked at me a little worriedly.
"Why? What do you mean?"
"Well for a start you heal much faster in your wolf form and ..." she trailed off as she gave me a concerned look, obviously trying to choose her words carefully.
"Luke has had to say that you where found dead on the outside of town. We had to protect you from any other hunters that might come for you, so he told the press that you where found dumped just past the last junction before the state line full of silver bullets. I'm sorry but he had to"
They have won, they may not have taken my physical life but they have stopped me from being able to have a life. First my real mother and father, then my ever so loving mum and dad that raised and loved me as their own and now my chances of ever being able to have a normal life or being able to just be me have be shattered.
I felt so defeated and alone, my hopes and dreams becoming null and void, why me? I've been a good person, I'm always kind to those I meet, always trying to help those who need it, why me? So what if I'm a werewolf, it still doesn't justify the pain I have gone and still am going through both physically and emotionally. Why couldn't he just aim a little higher?
I just lay there staring at nothing, thinking about what had been and what could have been but none of that was relevant any more, it was over.
"Hey it's going to be ok I promise" she put hand under my chin and gently lifted it so my eyes met hers.
"Yes but I am going to have to stay like this for the rest of my life" they both laughed.
"Don't be silly, Luke is sorting you out with a new identity for you but that will take some time, but please don't worry about a thing. You have been through so much in so little time so please just let us look after you but most of all you need to look after yourself."
I felt comforted slightly in her words knowing that I was not truly alone, knowing that they wanted to help and look after me but I still felt that pain, that void, the guilt of knowing that the only people that you have ever known and loved are not there are at the end of the day to give you their love and support when you need it most.
"Thank you but this is just so..." so many words, thoughts and emotions where spinning around my bruised and battered brain, this was so strange, new, confusing, frightening, upsetting, worrying, this new world of werewolves and weredogs that I never knew had just opened up and turned mine upside down.
"Different" Kris spoke as he stopped the car.
"Yes...."
"Look there's nothing to worry about, you can stay will us as for long as you like and I know you will fit in, yes I know it is all a bit different but we will help you to understand, I know you where raised as a human but you need to know how to be a werewolf" she scratched the back of my ear helping me relax a little before she got out of car.
"I'll look after you, promise" Kris gave me a warm smile before he to left the car but he did not give me much time to think about it as he quickly moved around the car and once again picked me up and tightly held me to him. Much to my dislike and embarrassment as I tried to protest but he just ignored me and proceeded to carry me into a rather plush and large house as the sun started to set.
The house was nicely decorated with soft colours and nicely placed furnishings but nothing to bold or garish but the main thing that impressed me was the overall size of the building. The rooms that lead from the front door must have been about the same size as ground floor of a normal house.
"Your home is beautiful but why is it so big for the four of you?" Kris just laughed and shrugged as he set me down gently.
"Thank you. I do try my best I with this mob" Jane pointed to Kris "having two alphas in the family means that things can get a little crowded sometimes when the packs comes over"
The sound of clicking claws griping the laminated floor pricked my ears as I turned to see where it was coming from, only for a black and tan blur to plough straight into me sending me to the ground, I yelped more from shock and fright than pain as it made contact with me and I to the ground.
I tried to cover my face as something wet and rough was dragging its self across my face and muzzle, it suddenly stopped as I heard a small yip. I was slow to open my eyes as I waited for my attacker to return but they did not, I slowly opened my eyes to see Kris holding a young Doberman by the scruff at eye level whilst sharing one or two quiet words with him.
"I take it that's Ryan" I said as I shakily got to my feet with the aid of Jane who was laughing at my reaction.
"Yes that's Ryan he gets a little over excited sometimes sorry, Kris put him down!"
"Look be nice he's a bit new to all this" he grumble as he put Ryan down.
"Are you really werewolf? Were you really shot by a hunter? Did you really throw a hunter across a room in your wolf form? Can I see where you got shot?" that was a lot of questions to get bombarded with in a very short amount of time.
"Um yes, yes, yes and no as I haven't seen it myself and think you might be a bit too young to see it, going on what it feels like sometimes" he pulled a bit of a sad face which just made me chuckle a bit.
"Ryan why don't you go and do your home work, I know you have some before you to try and wriggle out of it"
"Mum that's not fair I want to play with Jayson and I hate biology! It's boring!" his hackles where raised slightly.
"RYAN....."
"Why don't you go and get your home work and I can help you with it, biology is very interesting if you give it a chance!" I quickly interrupted Jane. His little fuzzy face lit up and he quickly dashed out of the hallway and the sound of thundering paws on stairs could be heard.
"I don't think I have ever seen him move that fast before" she just laughed looking where Ryan had once been "you don't have to help him you know, he can do it on his own"
"Well to be honest I would welcome the mental distraction and the stimulation also to return back to normality for a short time"
"Well good luck with that as this house is never normal" Kris said as he started to laugh.
The sound of thundering feet broke Kris's laughter as Ryan rushed down the stairs and came to an abrupt stop when he entered the hallway, he was in his human form and looked just like a mini Kris minus the amount of muscle and stubble. He was wearing a pair of red sorts and a green shirt with cartoon skull and cross bones, he held a small folder which I could only assume was the 'boring' home work.
"Well I'll let you three pups go into the living room, while I go and see what your father's up to" she pointed to the very large room to right as he headed down the hallway to look for Luke.
Kris tried to pick me up and carry me into the living room but I just started to walk/hop past him following Ryan "thank you but I'm not that much of a cripple" he just stuck his tongue out which just made me laugh.
Me and Ryan spent the next hour or so doing his home work, he did find it confusing but I managed to explain it to him in such a way that he started to understand and actually find it fun but I think it was just the fact it was 'me' helping him.
Kris sat watching us as we lay on the floor while he sat in one of the plush couches as he watched the TV but I could feel his eyes on me all the time but it felt like a good thing. I noticed Ryan's and Kris's noses start to twitch as they started to scent the air, they both looked at one of the doorways that lead out of the living room and then to each other.
"STEAK!" they both shouted at each other before they both charged out of the room, almost ripping the carpet at the same time.
"OUT!" the sound of Luke from what I could only assume came from the kitchen nearly shook the whole house, Kris and Ryan quickly retreated back into the living room with disappointed but excited faces and Ryan was practically bouncing on the spot.
"Steaks a big thing in our house, we don't have it that often" Kris said as he came over and looked at the work me and Ryan had been doing.
"So I see"
"So how much have you done?"
"Thankfully we just finished when his nose started to work as I don't think he will be able to concentrate now" I said as I looked at the bouncing boy in one of the recliners.
"Good" he quickly packed and put the work away and proceeded to pick me up and set me next to him on the LARGE couch and moved himself so that my head would rest on his lap, while being very mindful of my hip and leg.
"Was that really necessary?"
"Yes" he just smiled and scratched the back of my ears sending shivers down my spine as he watched the TV, Ryan came and sat the other side of him as Kris put his arm around him and held him close.
I don't know if it was because I liked him, I was a little cold or just felt a little lonely but I pressed myself into him as I nuzzled his leg gently, I closed my eyes as his hand had moved down to scratch between my shoulders, I felt so comfortable and calm for the first time in days. There was something about him that could just stop me thinking about what had happened and let me relax without any worries to bother me, he just made me feel so safe when he would touch, hold or was near me. Am I in love?
"Dinners ready" the couch suddenly moved as a small body bolted for what I could only presume was Ryan racing to the kitchen but Kris just sat there with me gently running his hand along my ears to the base of my tail, it felt so good. I didn't have to open my eyes to know he was watching me and not the TV but he did move slightly as the others entered the room.
"Dad why are we eating in here?" Ryan asked as he bounced behind Luke who held two plates in his hands.
"Because Jayson isn't able to move very well and it's been a long day, so we can relax and eat in comfort" he gently placed the plates on the low coffee table "don't touch!" he pointed at Ryan as he left the room quickly only to return with some more plates loaded with food with Jane flowing with some glasses. It did look good!
Kris gently lifted me off his lap so he could rest his plate on it to eat much to my annoyance not that I showed it. Ryan bounced around while he moved around the table to only sit on the other side of me as Luke handed everyone a loaded plate with wonderfully smelling food. I was the last to be handed a plate as he gently rested it on the couch in front of me "thank you" I said then he then took his own seat, if it tasted half as go as it smelt it would be heaven.
The meat took up most of the room on the plate as it must have been at least two stakes that were cut up into bit sized pieces, there was a small salad and a good helping of chips or fries not sure which now. I looked up to see them all looking at me, they hadn't started to eat.
"What?" I looked from Kris to Luke.
"You're the guest you may start first" Luke gave me a warm smile.
I looked from Kris too Luke again "I thought the alphas eat first as they are the leaders of the packs"
"So you do know a little about our culture" Kris said as he looked at me.
"Well no not really as I only knew that because when I was trying to figure out what I was I looked at normal wolf packs and how they worked, that's all"
"Makes sense"
"But you're a very special guest, Mr Silver Werewolf" Luke had a large grin
"YOU'RE A SILVER WEREWOLF?!" the loud echo came from Kris.
"Well yeah that's the le.......Oh no the letter" I must have left the letter and photos at the park when it all happened.
"Easy pup don't worry I've got them, they're safe in the study"
"Thank you" I let out a relieved sigh as I thanked Luke.
"That's ok but just stop worrying and enjoy your dinner" he gave me a warm smile as he cut himself a piece of stake and placed it in his mouth, doing so letting us start.
Ryan and Kris dove at their plates as they quickly wrapped their lips around a chunk of meat, I could hear them moaning in delight as they placed more pieces of the stake into their mouths. Seeing their reactions I gently and carefully took a piece, feeling a little awkward and uncomfortable eating straight off the plate. As soon as it hit my tongue my mind exploded with the taste, it was so tender, so rich, and moist, the scent was just heavenly, it practically melted in my mouth.
"Is this Kobe?" Luke just nodded as he placed another heavenly bite into his mouth and smiled in delight.
I look down at one of the most expensive meals I might ever have in my life knowing that I must savour every peace and take my time to truly appreciate the taste of this wonderful meal. I slowly started to eat, chewing the lovely meat carefully taking in as much of the flavour and the whole experience in as I could. Everyone was doing the same, apart from Ryan who was nearing the end of his. The reason behind the reactions from Kris and Ryan from the scent of the cooking meat was now clear, it was truly a treat, a wonderfully exquisite and delightful experience to just sit there and chew on one of the finest meals you can.
We were all nearing the end of our plates but Ryan had been sitting there for a while with an empty plate for some time watching us as we revelled in the delight of are meal, I did feel sorry for him having to watch us as we took our time savouring the taste and not just bolting it down which he obviously regretted doing but he was still young.
I had still had a few pieces left but I was regretfully feeling a little full, I gently picked an egg sized peace up in my teeth and placed it on his plate, his eyes went wide so I assumed that this never happens.
"Chew it slowly don't just swallow it!" he looked from me to the piece I placed on his plate with total disbelief and shock, then slowly placed it on his fork and wrapped his lips around it. The bliss was clear as he slowly chewed it and moved it around his mouth with joy as he did what I said which he was evidently doing as he chewed.
I looked to Kris who was staring at me with complete disbelief at what I had just done, as if I had just committed some terrible crime.
"Eh I'm too soft!" I rolled my eyes and sighed softly as I picked up the second to last piece and placed it on Kris's plate.
"Thank you" he stared at the piece of meat as if he had never seen anything of the like before in his life before he placed it in his mouth and experienced the same bliss of an unexpected treat. I finished the last delightfully joyful morsel trying to ingrain and remember everything about the meat I could, as I knew I might never have this again in this life or the next.
"So did you like it?" Luke said as he picked up my plate.
"Yes! Thank you so much it was amazing!"
"Well your very welcome, we don't have it very often but I thought I would treat you. You are a very special guest after all"
"Thank you but there's nothing special about me, I'm just a werewolf"
"Yes you are a werewolf and that makes you special in the first place let alone a silver werewolf which are very rare!" he looked at Jane to continued as Luke finished collecting the plates.
"Well you see there are 2 types of werewolves, golden werewolfs and silver werewolves. Golden werewolves are not that common as they tend to stick out in their wolf form in public and they have trouble mixing with humans. They can also reproduce by normal means but as most human and were alike know that if a human is bitten they become a golden werewolf which has also lead to our race but I will come to that later on. Now silver werewolves are different as their bite will not turn a human or anything else for that matter if they bite so they can only reproduce the old fashioned way if you catch my drift, so that is why you are so special."
"So what's the difference between silver and golden werewolves?"
"Well other than the effects of their bites the main differences are the eyes as golden werewolves eyes shine a bright gold and silver werewolves eyes shine a bright silver, their behaviour is also different in that the gold's are much more in tune with their instincts but they have a habit of acting before they think which has lead them to be the main target for hunters while silvers use their head and are more calm and reserved in their behaviour"
What she said made a lot of sense other than it being a little confusing at the same time but it would explain that the only information I could find when I was younger was of the golden werewolves and the fact they didn't interact well in human society and that they were much more, for lack of a better word, feral so they are targeted because of it.
"So you said you're race was derived from the golden werewolves how so?"
"Well some times when a human is bitten and then has close contact with a dog for a prolonged period over the next month before the first change, also if the human takes in some of the dogs DNA i.e. saliva, blood or skin cells, the werewolf virus will latch on to the DNA and make the change from wolf DNA to that of the breed of the dog. But that doesn't happen very often as the virus is very particular in the DNA it will latch on to, in that only breeds that are very similar in body and mind to wolf and it is nearly only old breeds of dogs like huskies, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etcetera."
What she said made a lot of logical sense in that virus is always changing and mutating, and the dog DNA is not all that different from the DNA of wolf as the wolf is the common ancestor of all dogs, some more closely than others.
I sat there thinking about what I had been told during which Kris had gone to help Luke tidy up in the kitchen, while Ryan was cuddled up next me. Jane just smiled as she walked out of the room as I had nothing to say or ask, it was a little confusing but simple at the same time as so much had already happened that seemed very different to me so it just made sense.
I lay there full, content, relaxed and safe knowing that my new friends are and will help me into this new and quite strange world I had been born but not raised in, I am still healing from the scars and losses but the wounds were healing and my mind was able to rest in the knowledge I was not alone.
I lightly snoozed as Ryan gently nuzzled my side he also started to drift off after the amazing meal, I felt the couch move as it took the weight of someone very large by way it moved.
"BLOODY HELL" I yelled as very LARGE Doberman had just taken a seat next to me.
"What's the matter with you?" it said as I now rested on Ryan's lap quivering.
"Kris is that you?" it did sound like Kris but only a little deeper.
"Yes of course it's me, have you O-deed on the pain killers or something?" I just starred at the gargantuan Doberman that sat across from me.
"What going on in here? Oh I see....yes well I need to talk to you about that Jayson anyway" Luke walked in looking from me to Kris with a slightly worried look.
"Is he all right, he did that when he first saw me change"
"Well Jane said that he hasn't gone into his were form" Kris Just stared at me mouth agape.
"So that's why you bolted when we first met" all I could do was just nod as I tried to remember that it was Kris in front of me in his were form, all 7'6' of him.
Luke lifted me off Ryan's lap much to his relief, I offered a quiet apology but he just smiled as Luke gently moved me over to the other couch and took a seat himself.
"Jane told me that you have not been in your were form yet" I nodded as me and Kris continued to stare at each other, me in shock and interest, he in confusion and disbelief.
"I have spoken to a friend of mine that knows about these sorts of things and silvers. He said that sometimes a trigger is needed to be able to go into your were form but it can be any number of things that it could be anything from a physical too an emotional trigger, he said that the only thing that you can do is wait"
"To be honest it doesn't really bother me"
"What do you mean it doesn't bother you?!" Kris said almost shouting.
"Well how can it bother me if I've never known what it is like to be in my were form. It's like the Kobe steak, up until today I have never tried so I did not know what it was like, so I could not miss it but now I have tried it and I know what it's like thus I can miss it or not" Kris just looked at me totally dumbfounded.
"You've got a good point" Luke just smiled at Kris's comment and then looked at his watch.
"I think it's time for you lot to go to bed and I know you need all the rest and sleep you can get" I just yawned and nodded my head as I started to curl into a ball to sleep "I'm not having my guest sleeping on the couch!"
"I don't mind honest, this is heaven compared to the kennels so don't worry about it"
"You're sleeping in a bed and that's final! You're sleeping with Kris, it's only so we can make sure you don't do anything stupid and to make sure you're safe"
"What, why, surely he doesn't want me invading his space and privacy let alone his bed!" I looked over at Kris who was just smiling.
"You must remember that we are not like humans, we are very open and relaxed when it comes to these sorts of things" Kris stood up as I quickly discovered that he was not wearing any underwear, he stood there completely naked only in his fur and a large grin.
"And those things" Luke said chuckling as I quickly looked away from the 'large' weredog.
"Aww you're a shy one" I could tell he wore devious grin, I felt his large and powerful arms wrap around me and pick me up which I was not keen on in the first place and he knew it, I gave him a playful growl.
"Are you challenging me?" he had a playful tone to his voice as I turned to look at him as he held me.
"Eh can't be bothered, too full and too tired" I looked into his eyes he held me, they were so bright and capturing, the mix of gold and hazel in them was divine as they looked into mine with kindness.
Our little gazing match was interrupted by Luke laughing "come on you two off with you and you Ryan" I looked away blushing slightly as I said my thank yous and good nights as Kris carried me out of the living room with Ryan ahead of us as we went up stairs and to our respective rooms.
"You have got a nice room" yet again it was very large with a king size bed set into a corner with one side next to a window, with a desk in the other corner on the side of the room, there was a door a couple of feet away from the bed which I assumed was his bath room. He gently placed me on the side of the bed farthest from the window and walked into his bath room where I heard running water and the brushing of his teeth.
He eventually came back and turned off the light letting the glow of the moon shine with all its glory as it shone through the window as he climbed over me onto the other side closest to the window. I moved to the edge of the bed a little so he could have some more room as he was still in his were form. I curled myself into a ball as best I could with my injured leg jutting out to keep it straight and comfortable.
I started to drift off until I felt a large clawed hand move around my chest and pull me back. My back met his chest gently as he wrapped his arms around me protectively as his chin and neck rested behind my head as we lay there under the moon's cool embrace.
"You know I don't bite" he gently pressed himself into me, it must have been an odd sight as we lay there, a large bipedal Doberman holding onto and cuddling a normal looking black wolf with a bandaged right leg and hip.
I lay there shocked at his gesture as he gently squeezed me reassuringly, did he like me or was this one of the ways that their culture is different from human culture which I had spent all my life in but most of all am I falling for him? I do like him but am I falling in love with him?
I think so.
