HATSSSSS Chapter Thirty-two
Imported from SF2 with no description.
Breakfast was an agonizing affair. Despite the obvious discomfort between them, Missy decided to eat at the table along with him. He could've moved but that would seem harsh now, wouldn't it? Wouldn't be the best way to show you don't dislike her. Trapped himself in his own niceties, typical. No words were shared at the very least, allowing Leo's thoughts to wander into work and hobbies. As much as he could. Occasionally he would think back to that simple kiss. A heavy weight in his gut would rear its head every time he did.
Funny how a kiss was something so much worse than touching her. Then again, she didn't need a kiss like she needed a touch. That was solely out of a misguided love. And love? With Missy? That wasn't something he could see himself indulging in. He did say it wasn't because of how strange she was physically, though lately he wasn't sure if that was a lie or not. Leo's eyes would steal a look at her every now and again, wondering how she was taking it. Unfortunately, she would do the same, and occasionally their vision would clash, leading them to glance away again. No, the main issue with Missy was that closeness, that tie back to the past, and of course, her lack of taking anything seriously.
"Thanks for breakfast," Missy said. She picked up the plate and placed it in the sink quietly. Having finished that, she retreated to the couch and turned on the TV. Incredibly easy to slip into the television world and forget everything, Leo figured. He had to wonder how much of that was escaping reality. Worrying, then, how much she did it. Leo finished his own breakfast, then readied himself for work properly.
As he approached the front door, he looked into Missy's room to see that stuffed orca staring back. So much for replacing him. Missy had snuck up next to him, but instead of fright, he only felt that weight in his gut. Uncertain which was preferred of the two. "Have a good day at work, Lion," she said with a wave.
"Thank you," he said. Leo gave her his best smile and nodded. "Uh, make sure you take care of your chores, alright?"
"I will, don't worry." A smile peeked out from her lips. "You bring home the big bucks, alright?"
"I'll try. See you," he said. Out back into the world. The door closed shut behind him and locked. Didn't she used to have trouble with doorknobs? He shook off that thought and headed for his car. Those thoughts of kissing returned to the forefront of his mind, and they continued on the road, and they continued in the parking lot, and they continued in the hallways, and they continued in the cubicle.
Somehow, Leo found himself sitting in front of his computer, staring blankly at it. His legs had carried them right to this spot as they always had. Would people even notice if he had been replaced by some sort of automatic typing machine? How many people had he extended an olive branch toward? You expect to date anyone like that? His mind was his biggest critic, naturally. No, the only thing on your palate is nightmare creature, right? You didn't pull away from that kiss, even though you had all the chances in the world to do so. What the hell was wrong with him? Alright, so I like having Missy there, he thought, so I must've been feeling bad for her. He shook his head, you don't be nice to someone by indulging in a kiss, no matter how pathetic.
So what was the only other reason? You like thinking logically, right? You like her. Leo's brows furrowed. No, no, more like his body was thirsty for that intimacy, no matter what. Life had been good for the longest time alone. Sure, he wanted to start a family life at some point, but that would be on his terms, when he was completely ready. That didn't mean his physical side agreed. He was still human after all. Leo sighed. As strange as that seemed at times. Then that meant his two choices were either that he was starved for attention or he really did like Missy like that. Not that his body disagreed with the latter. She still had all the right features to tick off his libido, that was his whole reasoning for tossing her across the house. Getting her clothes too, although that probably backfired.
Even if he were similarly misguided as Missy, he couldn't get together with her. She wasn't the motherly type, plain as day. Nor could he even have children with her. He stopped to think on that point. Well, he was fairly certain he couldn't. Adoption? He shook his head. No, he had to stick with actual women, the human kind. He thought back to that woman in the toy store. Not the best profession, but he would be the supporter regardless. She was cute, and somehow related to the large, jolly man who was his superior. What was wrong with taking him up on his offer? Just one date. It didn't have to go anywhere if it didn't work out. Leo looked to the clock. Lunch was coming up, he could flip the script for once.
As soon as lunch came around, Leo headed off to knock on his boss's door. "Yes, come in," a voice from the other side said. Leo quickly went through and closed the door behind him. "Oh! Hey Leo," Vernon said with a smile. "Have a seat."
"Thanks." Leo quickly took up his offer.
"Something up? You look like you stumbled down that hallway."
"Is that offer still open?"
"Offer?"
"You know, with your neice." Somehow it sounded terrible when he said it like that.
"Oh, that offer." Vern laughed. "I guess, but that was a bit of a joke. You have that girl with you at home, don't you?" He wrote something down and then shifted his attention fully to Leo. "Everything OK?"
"Yeah, everything's alright. We weren't really dating anyways."
"Just friends? I mean, heh, you did say you loved her. She did too! I feel like there was a spark there." Of course he had to remember that one stupid joke from months ago. "You talk about her an awful lot too. I'd almost expect you to be picking out a wedding dress and complaining about that too." Leo imagined Missy at the altar. No, no.
"That was... an inside joke, I guess." He shrugged. Why did everything regarding Missy have to be so hard?
"Well, alright, I guess I can't hope to know what the next generation thinks is funny." He shrugged. "You sure you don't want to have a go with her? I'd hate to smother that. You only get one life, you know. I'd say one wife too, but uh, not all present company can attest to that." Vernon put on one of those cheesy smiles. If only it were so easy. Accepting Missy would be... odd. That was his best excuse. An odd feeling waking up next to-- No, he had already did that. An odd feeling touching her-- No, he already did that too. An odd feeling kissing- Ah, well, he really was fucked.
Leo leaned back in his chair. "Honestly, I just think I need to prove something to myself," he said.
"You sure you're alright?"
"I think I will be. Would that introduction be alright?"
Vernon's cheer lessened, quickly dissipating. "I don't see why not, but I can't say I like the idea of my neice being used like that. I know you're an upstanding guy and you'll treat her well, but that test doesn't sit right with me, alright?"
Leo shook his head. "Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking."
"Look, I don't know what happened between you and Missy, but you either need to commit or not. If you really want to commit to my Linda, come back to me any time, alright?" His smile raised again. "And hey, I'll be happy because then we'll really be family!" Vernon laughed. "Is that all?"
Leo perked back up in his chair, sitting upright. "Yeah, I think that's it. Sorry, again."
"No worries, no worries. Now how about you 'round us up some grub for lunch?"
"Sure." That was only fair after his outburst. "What would you like?"
"I'm feeling in a pizza kinda mood." Of course he was. "Lots and lots of pepperoni. Top it off with a big ol' coke if you would."
"Sure thing. My treat."
"I'd hope!"

Leo sat in his driveway for a few minutes. Funny how feelings were some of the worst aspects of his life. Maybe he really should've given up being human and moved further into the woods. His eyes flicked to the house. Not like he needed an answer now. Missy had only been with him a few months and anything could happen, but... Somehow it felt like this was the edge of a deep, deep hole. Every second he was just inching toward it. Then there would be no way out and his life would be completely sealed. Alright, stop being so dramatic, he told himself. He pulled himself out of the car and walked up to the front door.
Rather than the full blown welcome that Leo was expecting, he found the living room to be empty. He took a few steps further, noticing Missy in her room watching television. She turned to wave at him. "Welcome back," she said.
"Not gonna watch TV out here?" Leo asked.
"Didn't really feel like it." She brought the stuffed orca to her side and held it tightly. "Thought I should get some use out of this one, you know?"
"Oh, that's nice," he replied. "You want anything specific for dinner?"
Missy only shrugged. "Not really. Whatever's fine."
"Alright."
And so whatever it was. Leo cooked up some steak and whatever vegetables he had, along with whatever spices he could find. Dinner was ready and they sat at the table. "Was work cool today?" Missy asked suddenly. She prodded at her steak, taking small nibbles out of it every now and again.
"It was work. They wouldn't pay you if it was fun, right?"
Missy crooked a smile. "Yeah, I guess that's true. What about people who say they love their job?"
"They're usually lying, or insane."
"I kinda thought you might be the second one."
"I probably am." Leo took a bite of steak. Probably too much spice. Not that his mind could exactly focus on it. "You do your chores today?"
"Can we talk about something other than chores?" Missy asked.
"OK, fair, uh, you watch anything good on TV?"
"Nah. Didn't see anything new I liked. Mostly they just put all the bad movies on there no one wants to watch."
"You love bad movies."
"I guess more like boring movies. Free stuff nobody would ever wanna watch."
"Probably the cheapest. They still have to make a profit, no matter how boring." Leo sampled some vegetables. They were vegetables. That was all he could think. "You learn anything new on the infinite knowledge box?" He motioned over to the thing.
"Well, I did learn you need an account to see like, half of the good videos on YouTube. I don't have an email though and I know you'd be all annoyed if I used yours."
"For a little bit, yeah. Maybe we can make you an email later. No wild chatting, though." Surprising she didn't go full steam ahead and make her own.
Missy furrowed her brow for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, OK."
"Wait, you don't have your own email?"
"Never needed to. I could just sign up for everything with roomies and they were cool with it."
"Yeah, well, they probably didn't use a business email."
"Oh, yeah, no, I don't think they got a legit serious thing ever. Only ads for gas station dick pills and stuff like that," she said, adding a giggle to her timbre. "But uh, cool, yeah, we can do that." Her pace of eating picked up, and soon she had already eaten half of the thing with little effort. At least she enjoyed his cooking.
"Don't go signing up on everything, though. Should keep it clean, just so you don't lose important stuff."
"What kinda important stuff would I even keep?"
"I dunno, what if I sent you an email?"
"You don't need to send me an email, silly, I'm literally always here. You can tell me anything."
"Yeah." Leo nodded. "Guess you're right about that."

Leo had assumed that night would bring some comfort. Being drawn into this little world of thoughts in the darkness. He was wrong. As he lay on his side of the bed, he could only churn the future in his thoughts. Linda seemed like a nice girl, for the fraction of a second he afforded her a glance. Otherwise his automatic pleasantry kicked into gear and smoothly rattled off whatever small talk it could. Process complete, move on with your life. Sad then, how she was really the only shot he had at normalcy. Unless he took up his own mother's offer to help him out, which would probably be markedly more depressing.
The office was a no-go. It was clear from his short meeting with Cesar all that time ago that he wasn't exactly amicable in the workplace. Nor could he easily slip himself into any other sort of group with his constant focus on work and hobbies. He thought back to how he figured this would all work out when he was younger. Somehow he was just bump into the right person in the workplace. Someone on equal footing that he could indulge in along with work. He paused. Right, maybe he had focused on the job a little too much. Not that he could fault himself. He still enjoyed being that dependent and having himself so well off this early in his life. With nothing to spend it on. Except one person.
The man looked to his doorway. The fuzzy emotional dilemma from the woods. Would it have been better the old way? She would haunt his thoughts randomly, but it wasn't as bizarre as this. When he was set against her, he didn't have this odd pain wriggling around inside him, but he wouldn't trade the new, shaky bridge for anything in the world. Just as he thought that, distant scratching echoed through the walls. As if he didn't have enough problems on his plate. Didn't he ask her not to do that? Yet there it was. Scratch, scratch, scratch. They weren't always consistent, nor exactly the same length.
As much as it pained him, the scratching actually managed to pull Leo back to the present, away from those worries about settling down. Right now he had a restless monster in the other room, and somehow that brought him peace of mind. Would she be at his door, beckoning again? Maybe he should just preemptively yell across the hallway that it wasn't happening. That would show her, right? Leo stared hard at the door. Never again, was that right? But you sort of knew that wasn't really the case. Missy gets what Missy wants. Mostly because she could be quite rowdy when she didn't get what she wanted. Especially when she shifted into this crazed arousal and grew restless. A restlessness that leeched on him and would make it impossible to rest. Leo silently thanked God that she didn't try to exploit that annoyance more.
Then, as if on cue, came the tap of nails on wood. Leo shifted his eyes up to the ceiling. Maybe this was always going to happen, and that this was an inevitable part of their relationship. Leo could have fed it himself, getting so buddy buddy. That could've easily fueled her desires all the more, pushing her into this terrible state. A knock came at the door. "Yes, Missy?" Leo asked. He didn't move.
"Can I come in? Please?" Missy said. She had the decency to keep herself in the hallway. Everything was on him now. Leo looked to her, standing out there, shrouded in the darkness of night. You should help her, right? This was what they should have been, just friends helping one another. One needed a touch, the other needed to sleep. Kissing nor anything else was to enter the equation at all. This was just a thing they had to do to keep stability. It didn't have to take a step past that at all. Their awful little arrangement that held them in an uneasy cycle of friendship.
"Sure," Leo finally replied. He sat up. Missy walked in, wearing her usual nighttime attire. She quietly glided over to the other side of the bed without a word. They knew what was going on. The second time she had come and there was already an unspoken agreement between the two. Never again? No, this would happen again, reminding her of how utilitarian his touch would be. A good reminder for him as well. Nothing more. His body seemed to disagree, as he began to boil near her presence. What made that switch flick on him?
"Is it OK?" Missy said.
"Just lay down, alright?" Leo replied.
Missy's ears flattened and she nodded. She let out a growl and hooked a finger into her underwear, bringing it down. Her hand reached for his, then came to a stop as she grabbed it, loosening her grip. Her eyes met his. He leaned over and placed that hand near her groin. Missy huffed like an animal. That heavy heat washed over his arm. With the way she reacted he almost thought she might bite him, but he pressed on. Leo's fingers slid further down, pressing against her wetness. Missy hissed a giggle and grinded her hips against him. "Relax," he said. Leo froze before letting her calm herself and pressing on. The man didn't quite know where to look, and so his eyes settled on his arm, watching the motion. This was all he had to do, push against her.
The spindly grip on Leo's arm tightened. He must've been getting somewhere with this. He sped up his prodding, noting a touch more wetness and an gentle squish with every motion. Missy let out a shaky gasp. "Put one in," she mumbled. Missy hissed. "Put one in," she loudly repeated. No worse than what he had already done. A finger tentatively reached out and pushed against her folds. Surely one finger wouldn't hurt, but he still worried about hurting her. Missy was still alien. A teasing became a pushing, then finally pressing on through. With the awkward positioning, Leo switched to using his thumb to press against her clitoris while his fingers caressed in and around her entrance. Missy groaned and nodded.
These repeated motions went on for some time. Far longer than Leo thought they might. As much as he didn't want it to, the situation was getting to him. No matter how much he wanted to suppress it, a crack broke along his resilience, causing that broiling sensation along his skin to increase. His groin stirred. Was she holding back? Trying to draw this out as long as possible? He didn't put it past her, but he couldn't stand the push against his thoughts. This wouldn't get the better of him. He placed a pillow between them, a simple barrier but one that he doubted Missy would notice. Leo sped up again, causing Missy to slightly writhe on the spot, along with all her animalistic grunts and grumbles that came with. The human touches of squeaks and moans peppered her reactions, largely still smothered by the bestial.
As much as he didn't want to think about it, Leo could feel her walls squeeze against his probing finger. Hotly and without restraint. If there were any evidence that this drove her mad, it was that. The salacious burn only seemed to intensify the sensation that roared up every time she drew near in this dazed state. Another thing he had to admit to himself. Something about Missy like this heightened his own sensations in a worrying way. He set that thought aside and focused on treating this illness of hers.
Missy's orgasm came like a crash, bucking her hips forward. Missy gave a few shaking thrusts and yips along with a slurred moan from her. "Leo," she said between gasps. "Leo." A guttural growl escaped her throat. "Leo," she moaned again. The man pulled his hand away. It didn't feel so bad this time. The process served its purpose. He was done, and so was she. With that, he went to wash his hand again.
Leo came back to find a dazed Missy barely pushing herself out of bed. He quickly moved over to her and helped the stumbling woman to her feet, into the hallway, and back into her bedroom. She crashed into her bed and pulled her legs up onto the mattress. She hummed, probably in satisfaction or thanks, he wasn't quite sure. Leo's eyes lingered on her for a while longer. This was going to be a bad habit, and that was for the best. It would shift things back into their proper position. For now, that is. Leo left the room and closed the door behind him.
