"I heard about your Horse party last night, Claude" Dusty says smiling. "You ought to get up a Bull party one day" he says grinning. "You round them up and I'll let them ride me" I say kissing Dusty. "Claude, have we got room here for Bill?" he ask. "Ask Edward to give him a room, it'd be nice to have Bill here too" I say softly. Bill wakes kissing me gently. "You'd let me stay here?" he asks. "It's OK, one more Bear son is great" Dad says smiling. I'd stay but it's getting late. I run shower and Bill comes in and I tell him I have to go. "Jim's gonna have someone get my stuff and take me to my shop in a while, Claude" Bill says. "He wants to get me a car since I don't have one, and he wants to be my Daddy" Bill says softly. I kiss him. "He likes you, Bill, and he'll do all he can for you" I say. Bill smiles. I dress and i go get Nate and we go to the office.

It's a busy day and I'm kind of tired at the end of it. And we go home and I go lay down until dinner.

It's a busy week. The office is busy and I have guys coming by at night. I'm keeping myself busy til I"m sure I'm either over Max or able to handle being apart from him. And Bill helps a lot. He' s a good Grizzly and he's trying to keep me from being sad. And on nights I don't have a date I go to the Bear den and hang out with him and Teddy. He and Teddy and Rory are very close friends.

Skip ahead to almost four months after Max went back to Georgia. I'm having a really busy week and it's my week for night and weekend call. And I can't stop worrying as to whether my Boar will ever come home to me. I can really empathize with his wife. Her Boar husband will never come home to her again. My own personal nightmare made real.

And I can't help but think of my Max. What if he died before we got back together? And I realize I've coped with him being gone, because I know it's what he needed, but I love his as much as the day he left me to go home to Georgia. I briefly wish I had gone into some other career. I sit dictating it all and I weep. I try not to let it affect my voice. Making it worse this is the dictating station where I first met Dr Max Woods. But it does make me weep and make my voice shake. And I wish I could just run away somewhere. I"m sad and lonely and hungry and for the first time in my life I wish I could drink. But I don't have time to even go get drunk. 3 more animals in the ER I need to see still. I feel so all alone and unwanted. Sure guys want to fuck me and I have a lot of sex. Most of the Horses from the party still come by and I met more at the Bear Den. It got out about the Horse party and Horse tops are almost always after me when I show up there. "I called your house and your English Butler told me you were having a really bad night, and hadn't eaten even,. I felt bad and thought I'd come by and make sure you ate, at least" Dusty says handing me a small basket. I open it. Dusty's a great cook and he whipped up a casserole for me. I hug him. He grins. He sits at the table with me and I eat. He's smiling. He's got his hand on my arm. I look up at him.

"Claude, were you teasing about a Bull party?" He asks. "No, you got one organized?" I ask. "Next weekend, I have about 20 Bulls of different breeds and colors, all good guys, all tops and good ones," Dusty says. I kiss him. "I know what's going on, you must miss him, Bill says you keep yourself really busy, but that you still miss that Boar" Dusty says softly. I kiss him again. "I wish I had of bonded you" I say. "You're such a great Bull" I say. He blushes. "I'd of done my best to make you happy, Claude, I can't understand how this guy could walk away from you, you're such a loving and giving Lion when you care about someone, you've always been so good to this Old Bull" he says softly. "He was badly hurt Dusty, dumped by his mate of ten years, he just left a note and left in the middle of the night" I say. "He hurt either way, too hurt to take me, and too hurt by leaving me" I say softly. "Claude, let me know about the party" Dusty says.

"Schedule it. Saturday night at my place, I can have Nate and Harry help me out if I need it or if you guys want more than one bottom" I say. "Hell yeah, that hot tight little Snow Meow and your Dad's hot, tight Bengal, plus you" he says. "If I tell guys then we might have twice as many Bulls wanting to come" Dusty says. "If you know them and they're good animals let them come" I say. Dusty kisses me.

"You are a good Lion, Claude, you're not even mad at that Boar for breaking your heart" Dusty says softly. "Dusty, I do hurt and I wish he hadn't left, but we didn't bond" I say. "He was probably too scared of being hurt again to open up and bond you, Claude" Dusty says. I'm struck by his words. You'd not think it to look at Dusty. But he's a brilliant Psychotherapist. Dusty kind of looks and usually dresses like a big butch Truck Driver. "You think Big Bull?"I ask. 'I'm sure of it, Claude, his fear was worse than his pain and he blocked himself off" Dusty says smiling.

"Claude, I can't see you , as we've fucked and I have too strong of feelings for you" Dusty says. "But I think you might ought to see a friend of mine, a Dr Jonas White" Dusty says. "I think you hurt more than you think you do, and are fucking a lot as a way to distance yourself from that pain, and Jonas can help you sort out how to handle Max if he does call you one day" Dusty says softly taking my paw in his big hand. "I am so glad you care about me Big Bull" I say. "I'd of taken you so fast, Claude," he says quietly. "I'll set things up for Sat night and I'll call you Friday night" Dusty says. "Do you want me to call and set you up with Jonas, Claude, he's an easy going and gentle English born St Bernard?" Dusty asks. "Go ahead and then call me and I'll make sure to make the appointment on time" I say softly. He kisses me. And leaves.

I feel a lot better now. I've eaten and I know Dusty understands and he reached out to me. I won't stop playing but I know now that I'm just trying to blunt my feeling of missing Max. My family loves me and keeping busy helps too. But I do need professional help and if Dusty trusts this guy I will too. I do trust Dusty. And I have a moment of wishing I'd of bonded Dusty. Hell, Daniel too, or Bill or Teddy or Rory or Ed or several others. Hell I'd of gone after Paul too except he has a mate, one who's not as good with Horse Cock as I am. And here I am fretting about a Boar who couldn't handle loving me and ran home. Across the country in fact. And he seemed to love me so when he was here. But I knew the deal when I got involved with him and I accepted it to get under him. I sigh and decide to just keep going and get this night over with somehow.

And as I go out and see the rest of the patients I wonder about the Bulls Dusty's got coming to party with me. I've seen Dusty talking to some really hot Bulls at the Bear Den. And I'm kind of really hot anticipating next Saturday night. Things finally slow down and I actually might get to go home. As I'm finishing up dictating. I realize I'm at the very dictation booth where I met Max again, and I weep a bit.

My cell rings and I find myself annoyed. Got to be a call about yet another patient. And when I look at the Caller ID I weep harder. Max? I answer quickly.

"Claude" he says happily. I try hard to stop crying. I won't let him see just how much I've been missing him. And I try hard to make my voice light and happy. "Max" I say happily. "Claude, are you OK?"he asks. "I've had a bad day, no a bad week, as it's my turn on call" I say. "I"m at the ER now" I say softly. Max laughs. 'I know how that goes" he says. My fur goosebumps to hear his laugh again. "Claude, I've got vacation time in four weeks, would you like to meet me somewhere like we talked about?" He asks.. "We can go to Maui if you want"I say cheerily. "I've never been to Hawaii" he says happily. "I"ll make the arrangements. Dad said we could use one of his Corporate jets. he'll let me have his own personal bigger jet, Eagle One" I say softly. "I can come get you in Georgia and we'll fly from there to Maui" I say. "I"ll make reservations at a nice place I know, beautiful views too" I say. "The most beautiful view I wanna see is you naked again" Max says quietly. I smile. "I kind of miss you too, Big Boar" I say. "I miss you, Claude, and I'd like to have you meet Mom and Dad when you come to pick me up" Max says."I'd like that" I say quietly. "Obviously you've forgiven me for running off" Max says. "I've kept busy' I say. And I tell him about the Horse party, and all of the sex I've had. I don't want to have to admit to how badly I've missed him. He laughs and my fur goosebumps again.

"Took that many guys to replace me, I'm kind of proud, Claude" he says. "I'd of liked to have seen you take all of those Horses" Max says softly. I'm completely gone on him still. I want to tell him I'd of given it all up just to have him once more. But I can't do that. I have to keep this light and airy or he'll run again. Or whatever. Maybe he won't agree to come see me again if I let him know how badly I want him and how badly I miss him. Light and airy is the tone I'm using, even though I ache to feel his touch again.

"I'll look forwards to seeing you again, Big Boar" I say heartily. "I can't wait to see you again, Claude, I've missed you a lot" he says quietly. "I'm not dating either, Claude, but I know you, and you have to keep yourself happy" he says. "I can't believe you'd go without sex that long" I say a bit snappish.(Max tells me in Maui that he knew I still loved him by the way I snapped at him. And he knew I was trying not to let it all show and pressure him.) "I didn't say I was going without sex. I have a few old tricks I see just to get off" Max says. "But you said you're not dating?" I ask. "Not going out with anyone means I'm not doing more than fucking" Max says softly. "Not wanting to date, just fuck them, I don't want to meet anyone new" He says quietly. I fight tears. Max doesn't want to meet anyone new and risk bonding them and not me. I know my Boar is in love with me now. I pray he can heal and come home to me one day. "Claude, I'll let you know the dates soon, I'll email you" he says softly.

I am glad when he hangs up. Much longer and I'd break down and blow it all. I finish my dictation and I drive home. I get home and I run to Dad's room. He and Harry are curled up watching TV. I throw myself on Dad's lap and I cry. "Claude?" he asks.. And weeping hard I tell him about my day and about Dusty coming and then Max's call. Dad cuddles me. "You played it right, Claude" Harry says stroking my mane. "I know, Papa Harry, but it hurt so bad, just reminded me of how much I love him and after trying to go on for all of these months, I'm back to square one" I say sobbing. "He's not dating, he doesn't want to risk not being able to come back to you one day" Dad says softly. I nod. "He'll heal one day, boy, keep on as you have been" Dad says. I tell Harry about the Bull party Dusty is setting up. Harry laughs as does Dad. "That Bull cares for you, he mourns not having bonded you himself." Dad says. "I wish I had of, Hell Dad I wish I had bonded several guys I know" I say. Dad hugs me.

"Why did I have to fall for him, Dad, so many want to take me and I know he loves me, but he ran from me, Dusty says his fear of being hurt again is what made him run, not the pain itself, and I'm gonna go see a Psychiatrist friend of Dusty's next week to help me sort this out" I tell Dad. "You sound like you need help too, Boy" Dad says stroking my mane. "I am so sorry Dad, I've kind of made a mess of my love life, without the caring of so many animals I'd be in pieces"I say crying. "Claude this is not your fault, it's not really even Max's fault, he can't help it nor can you" Dad says. "He was honest with you, if not himself, and you can't help but have fallen for him, I saw the love in your eyes when you first brought him home, and we also saw how much he loved you too" Dad says softly. "I just hate this, I hurt and I couldn't even tell him how bad he hurt me,, and I had to keep it out of my voice altogether" I say.

My cell rings and I see it's Sacramento State University Hospital's ER. Angrily I throw the phone on the carpet in a fit of petulance. "I have to go back" I snort. I pick up my phone and I answer. "I have to go back, God Damned frequent Fliers" I snort. Dad looks at me quizzically. "Patients who keep coming into the ER for not being compliant and mismanaging their medical problems."I say angrily. And I change clothes and go back. I'm in business casual and not a suit. I'm going to be comfortable if my night is ruined again. I drive down to the ER and I'm surprised to see a ambulance come in as I walk into the night ER entrance..

Guy looks pretty badly banged up. And I take a second look and I gasp. It's Paul and he's barely breathing. I run in to the ER. The Trauma surgeons want me to manage him medically, and get him stabilized.. I agree and I assess him quickly. He's breathing shallowly and he's going into shock. I go get a tray and I page Respiratory therapy. They're here immediately and they know what's about to happen. I can't sedate him, he's too weak.

"Paul, it's Claude, you had a bad accident,, and I know you trust me, I can't put you out until I've got you stabilized, and I have to put a tube down your throat so we can put you on a ventilator." I say. "Do you hear me and can you understand, Big Stud Horse" I say. He nods. "Will you hold still and allow me to do it" I say softly. I'm stroking his shoulder. He opens his eyes and he looks at me. "Help me, Claude, please" he says weakly. But he seems calmer now. He knows it's me and he's trying to relax. I kiss him. And he smiles. And the nurses are looking at me. "I know him well he's a good Clydesdale so lets do this fast y'all" I say softly. And I tube him quickly. As the Red Kangaroo RT tapes it down I call for a X ray for tube placement.. Paulie's smiling at me. "Boyfriend or ex boyfriend" He asks me happily. "He's not a boyfriend he has a mate, but we've played' I say. "Was he a part of your Horse party" Paulie asks. I nod. I hold Paul's hand and I talk gently to him. He's relaxed. I put a Swanz Ganz PAC in him quickly and I sedate him while they put him on the vent.

He is a bit shocky. So I start him on Dobutamine. And he stabilizes. I check his labs and I start him on IV D5 1/2NS. And I get Chris to put a Foley in him. Chris grins. "He's a well hung Horse" he says laughing. "But you probably know that if he was part of your Horse party" Chris teases me. I start him on antibiotics since he has a few open wounds and lacerations. Paulie brings me his ABG results. And I'm happy with them. His C.O. is good per the PAC.

I check the police report to see if his mate has been called. I hardly want to be the one to do it. Joey, his mate knows who I am. But Paul thought Joey was a bit jealous of me. And I'd rather not have to go there. I see they did. And the ER clerk tells me he's here now.

I go out to talk to him. He's a small Gray Wolf. And he looks really scared. "He's stable now Joey, I'll take you back to see him now" I say softly. He hugs me and cries hard. "He'll be OK in a while, Joey, tonight will be the trickiest part, but he's stable and I think he'll be all right, the Trauma surgeons will check him tomorrow for broken bones or other injuries" I say. "He's not got any internal injuries by the X Rays, so it's just a question of letting him heal while we support his body" I say. He runs to Paul. He takes Paul's hand and Paul opens his eyes. "He's a bit groggy now, Joey I gave him pain meds and sedation so he could rest now." I say. "He'll be moved to ICU soon and I'll make sure you can stay with him if you want to" I say. Joey nods. I turn away and I shed a few tears to see how much Joey loves his Paul.

"Claude, I have been jealous of you and Paul cause he likes you and you can take him so easily, but for his sake I'm so glad you were here" Joey says. "He knows this, but I guess I should tell you too" I say. And I tell Joey about Max and what happened and how the party got organized. And that I do care about Paul but that I know I am meant to belong to my Boar when he comes home. And that I'd never try to take Paul away. He hugs me. "You must hurt so waiting for him" Joey says. "You've got a wait too Joey" I say. "He'll take weeks to heal, I'm hoping to get him off the vent and the drips by tomorrow night" I say softly. Joey smiles and he holds Paul's hand. "I just want him healed and home, Claude" Joey says breaking into tears..

I hug him. and I go dictate an admission note and document everything. And I go write admit orders to ICU. And I know the Critical Care Residents will tend him overnight. And I wrote to allow Joey to stay with him. So they're tended to for now. And I go see the patient I was called in for. She's a pain but she did really need to be seen. I say a silent prayer that I was here. anyway. Trauma team does well. But Paul knew me and Joey needed to be tended to as well. And I do well with this kind of stuff.

I do feel better now. I do care about Paul and I'm grateful I was here to help him. And he'll do fine once he heals a bit. I'm glad Joey is here with him. Paul seemed comforted by it being me taking care of him. Sometimes I forget about the good I do. And the personal satisfaction of helping someone when they're sick or injured. And to know it's someone who's been good and caring to me makes it even more satisfying. I tell Joey that I've written orders for him to be allowed to stay with Paul and I'll see him in about five hours when I come in for first rounds. As the Doctor on call. He's happy that Paul is better and resting comfortably. I go to the ICU Drs lounge and get Joey some soda and a couple of sandwiches and snacks so he's good for the night. He hugs me. "I figured you wouldn't want to leave him even for a minute, and we can't have you getting sick too" I say softly.

And I go home and go to bed. And hope I don't get woken up until I have to get up and round. It's been quite a day. And Hell quite a few months. And I know I can cope. But I know now as well. All won't be right in my life until my Boar is here and mine again. And I know I need this Jonas White's help to properly deal with my Max.
