What If?: Wrong Choice
In terms of understanding this story, you are not gonna understand it that much. Hell, I don't either. It was a random thing that I was bored and doing a theme challenge thing. I didn't put in descriptions that much since this is more aimed at the people who know me more.

Wrong Choice
A 'What If' scenario: Wrong choice
--
Virith walked into the dark throne room, regret deep within her. She never wanted this to happen, but it did anyway. She felt as if it were her mistake and ignorance that led to this. She could still see in front of her and looked away slightly at the figure on it. It was too much, yet it had to be done; Serthal could not live anymore. He'd fallen and this was nothing more than his shell...
The figure on the throne was a silver dragon with blood red eyes with black slits. A dark aura fell around him and Virith knew that he was watching her. He was in a bipedal sitting position on the throne while a cold smile crept onto his muzzle. Virith stood halfway across the room from him and sighed, shaking her head.
"It wasn't supposed to be like this, Serthal." She said as he rose slowly into the air, being suspended by the dark aura. He hung limply in a bipedal way once more and slowly rose his head.
"Virith..." he said in a voice that was a mixture of his own and another. Suddenly, he teleported in a beam of red energy before landing right in front of her, shooting a black fireball.
Moving out of the way, she saw little choice; reason meant nothing to him...
In retaliation from the attack, Virith shot a lightning bolt at him. It hit Serthal, but it didn't do as much damage as she had hoped it would do. Instead he laughed and teleported again, appearing at the far side of the room. Instead of shooting a fireball this time, he shot a large beam at her that she barely avoided. Serthal could never do that before...
Flying at him, she attacked his body to find that the dark aura around him tangled her claw. It didn't hurt, but it made it impossible to damage him. It didn't help that he teleported once more to the middle of the room. "You still made it your goal to piss me off..." Virith growled as she shot another bolt at him. This time, she hit his head and he let out a small noise of pain.
Apparently, his head was his weak point.
Armed with that knowledge, she fired more at his head in order to try and wound him. Instead, he teleported. Again. Roaring with frustration, she decided just to run at him when he appeared and slash at his head until he died. What she didn't count on was for him to reappear behind her and surround himself with winds made of fire. Not only did it fling her backwards, it seared her scales. Dragging her claws on the ground, she caught herself and watched as a shard of red energy flew right past her.
Serthal appeared to cancel the winds but Virith found out the hard way that he was actually charging an attack. Seizing her moment, she ran at him and slashed at his face. It did something but didn't cancel the attack. Propelling herself over him, a gust of fire blew right where she was. If she was still there, she would have been nothing more than bones.
Attacking with her tail, she hit air as he teleported once more. This fight was doing nothing except for getting her angrier. That may have been his intention. Giving into anger wouldn't do any good, so she calmed herself. Serthal seemed to notice this and hissed.
"Why do you fight it?" he hissed in that voice once more. It gave her the chills. That and he still seemed to suspended with strings didn't help. She admitted that he succeeded in scaring her.
"Is that you talking, Serthal? Or is it the other?" Virith taunted. He smirked and teleported in front of her, his claw raised up to slash her.
Nimbly jumping backwards, she avoided the lazy attack. Serthal teleported once more and slashed at her back, where he got her. About to retaliate, she saw that he had, once again, teleported. However, she was prepared this time and spun around, succeeding in striking him in the face.
Hard.
Serthal covered his muzzle and roared, his voice growing steadily darker as the dark aura engulfed him. He then began to change...and Virith realized that there was nothing left of Serthal. It was just his shell. No reason to hold back. But still...he didn't deserve this. She deeply regretted doing what she did.
--
"What...did you...do...?" Serthal gasped, holding his burnt chest and the machine on it.
Virith towered over him, a malicious grin spread across her muzzle. She pressed down on his chest, pressing her muzzle close to his. She could see the hatred in his eyes and she loved it. Good. Now he understood how she felt about him.
"What do you think? I killed you, Serthal. I said I would," Virith whispered, stroking his face gently enough not to snap his neck, yet she had no emotion behind it, "This is my revenge. For what you did to me."
"Vir....ith...." Serthal looked like he was starting to say, but he suddenly stopped breathing. She smiled. Her poison worked.
By tampering with his medicine, she had reversed the effects of it and now his heart was likely in five pieces. The burnt eyes looked in pure agony. So he suffered...an added bonus. Yet, for some reason, she felt guilt.
If he really meant to hurt her, why wasn't he more aggressive to her? Her eyes widened as the realization hit her. He never intended to do it. No wonder he tried to make up with her, going to the lengths that she thought was out of personality for him. Like the one time he left her favorite type of flower on her door every day for a month. She knew it was him and yet...
"What did I do?" She asked softly, guilt starting to overwhelm her. She had to escape. Now.
--
That was her wrong choice. That was her mistake. It was too late to take it back. He'd come back from the dead, possessed by rage and the desire for revenge. He was a revenant. No matter how much she convinced herself, she couldn't help but hold onto the fact this was really him. She was so misguided. If only...
Glancing at the transformed Serthal, she noted the many differences. For one, his scaled were red and his horns were black. Spikes grew out of his limbs and wings, and the gold membrane that once ran the course of his spine was now fiery and chaotic. He was also at least three times taller than her now, with five tails and four wings to top it off, but that was not the scariest part.
The scariest part was that he now had three heads, effectively turning into an archdemon. The faces were a demonic replica of his own, and they were baring down on her. The eyes had so much hatred in them that it nearly overwhelmed her. Not because it was him, but because the hatred resembled her own when looking at him. Now she knew how he felt and wished she could change it.
But there was no time for grieving...not now anyway...
Serthal swung one of his massive tails at her, and Virith had just snapped out of her thoughts enough to jump over it, spreading her wings to jump over it. Then, she was caught by another tail, and slammed into the ground, where she rolled to the side to avoid a claw that would have effectively crushed her.
Shooting a bolt of electricity at him, she saw that it was repelled. Literally. Virith watched the lightning jump off and strike a wall, but still managed to avoid three fireballs from his mouth. Once she jumped back, she saw his trap. He was charging another three, but this time it came out as flames.
Fire covered his tail and he started to spin, creating a tornado of fire that shot at her. The wind nearly sucked her in like that other ability he did, but this time she used it to her advantage. Flying into the rotation, she used it to sling-shot herself, propelling herself at Serthal. There, she saw his weak point.
The half broken machine that used to keep him alive was glowing with red energy.
Latching onto it, Virith tugged on it with all of her might, placing her claws against his chest to aid her. She was only on for two seconds before Serthal swatted her off. One of the three tubes came loose on him.
As she landed a distance away from him, Serthal cloaked himself in fire and charged at her. Yet, despite all of that, she saw that his chest area was not covered.
Well, if you are going to use your element like that... Virith thought as she suddenly dove out of the way faster than she normally moved.
Electricity crackled around her, the crystals on her shoulders shooting off electricity between each other constantly. Some shot off randomly, but there was little time to marvel it. If she didn't end this quick, she would be torn apart due to the fact that electricity was now running rampant through every part of her body, accelerating her blood and making her organs work faster.
Serthal stopped just before hitting a wall, but he turned around instantly, knocking away the castle wall, revealing the moonlight outside. At least there was one clear spot where she could see. Not that it was hard to pinpoint where he was. The fire was not very subtle.
Again, he charged, but Virith again side-stepped him, shooting electricity into his chest. It seemed to do something, as he was now growling. Electricity was still his weakness at least. But instead of instantly killing him, all it did was make him a bit weaker.
Still, it was better than nothing...
Serthal stood on his hind legs and unleashed a massive fire blast. Virith had to continuously side-step his attack, as he kept it right behind her. She would charge attacks, but only two hit out of the ten she fired. From the way he was acting, it was as if he was getting slower. Perfect.
Soon, Serthal canceled the attack, which was good since Virith had sustained two burns so far. One on her tail, another on her back. Electricity ripped through one of her scales. She wouldn't last much longer in this form.
Her body began to glow and she unleashed a massive electrical discharge that lit up the entire room. Anyone within ten miles would see the light thanks to the new hole. It was her Flash move, which stunned anyone near her. Once the light went down, Virith saw her chance; Serthal was stunned and all of his heads were blinded. He still retained inability to look at bright lights, as he was now bleeding from his eyes.
Virith charged at him, reaching the device again and started to tear it off. She clearly hit something, as something dark red came out as sliced at her claw, spilling her yellow blood. Still, she managed to rip one tube out. Only one remained. Now the thing was just dangling and just needed to tug on it one more time...
WHACK!
Virith found herself being smacked against a wall. Blood came from her mouth and she knew she broke a few ribs. Looking up with unfocused eyes, she saw that Serthal, while not regaining his vision, had located her. All of the heads were now looking at her, despite not seeing.
Her electricity faded. With her hypermode gone, she stood little chance. However, when she looked around, she found her salvation. A pillar was half destroyed at the base, and was dangerously close to falling. The thick stone would likely stun him long enough for her to get under him and...
Virith still didn't get over that she had to kill him twice. If there was one thing that remained about how she felt before, she wished it was the remorselessness that she felt when she killed him. At least, for the first few moments. Tch, the guilt was almost too much then. She'd never felt it before.
This was it. The final blow that would decide if she won or died. Serthal roared, a loud noise that again sent shivers down her spine. Virith bolted to the pillar just as Serthal started to rise into the air, spreading his four wings but not flapping them, being suspended by the same dark energy as before.
Virith looked up on the pillar. Yes! It was dislodged from the ceiling! Virith shot electricity and attacked with her claws (One talon was broken in half), but eventually, she got it. The pillar started to collapse on Serthal.
However, Serthal stopped his attack again and held up the pillar. While not stunning him, it allowed Virith to fly at him, aiming right at the device. Serthal again knew where she was and shot flames at her. Virith didn't stop flying. This pain was nothing compared to what would happen if she faltered. Eventually, she reached his chest.
Raising one talon, she cut it free.
Instantly, Serthal started to writher in agony, punting her burnt form off of his body. She landed on her back, gasping in pain. She watched as Serthal continued to move around in pain. His figure started to distort itself and red energy started to shoot out from everything. However, Serthal managed to open one eye on the middle head and look at her. Except not red...the eye was amber and lacked pupils.
"Thank....you...." Serthal's voice rang in her head as he was consumed by his own flames, his roars deafening. Soon, he collapsed, his flesh burnt away and now the bones were nothing more than dust. Virith let out a sigh of relief and sadness as she struggled to get up.
Eventually, she got to her claws and walked like a drunk over to where Serthal had perished. When she did, she gasped.

There, was a remainder of his machine. The circular shape still remained, but the tubes were all gone. Virith went over and picked it up, looking at her reflecting in the small window where his medicine would have been on the back machine. Yet, she noticed something odd about it. There was a small dent, but there was something poking out.
Taking it out, she choked: It was a small photo of her and Serthal. One of the few moments where they were actually together without fighting. He was happy, a claw around her shoulder. She looked like she was fighting off the urge to murder him, but then again, she had a thin trace of a smile.
"Serthal..." She murmured, holding both things to her chest.
Both of them had changed. Serthal physically, but she had changed emotionally. Now she found her long dormant emotions and felt sadness. However, despite all of this, she could not cry. Long ago she had lost the ability.
A ray of sunlight hit her and she looked out of the destroyed wall. The sun was rising. It was ironic. With the death of Serthal, it would seem unfitting that the sun would rise. It's said that when someone dies when the sun is rising, they are reincarnated. So maybe...maybe...Serthal would be reborn.
Oh, what did she care if he didn't today. She was immortal. Never aging. She would wait. Her decision startled her though. Never would she thought of waiting for him. Virith really had changed...
Looking down at the photo and the machine, she let out a small smile. "You really did get the last laugh, Serthal. You told me that you'd get to me...and well...you did. You changed me...forever. Now...it's time for me to wait for you and then...we'll be together."
With this new hope, Virith spread her wings (she was already starting to heal), and flew off into the sunset. If only she didn't kill him...none of this would have happened. And maybe, just maybe, she would have found her emotions on her own. Although...she did want to see who he would be reincarnated as. Would he look different? Would be look the same? Would he even act different or be a female?
She had eternity to find out...
