Alpha Wolfio’s Origins By Alpha Wolfio
#2 of Backstories
This is the origin story for my main fursona, Alpha Wolfio.
In the northern forests of Koziariel, there was a pack of wolves that were huddling around a den. They waited for the offspring to arrive. Unfortunately, the
den mother, Ninani, was not looking very well. Her belly was smaller than usual, but she was still in labor. It turned out she was only due to bear only one pup. The news
relieved the pack, thinking that Ninani was sick. The pack leader, Nitah, who was in the den assisting the mother, decided to name the newly-born pup Alpha. When
Nitah announced the given name of the pup to the pack, they all nodded and howled, establishing the name of the future pack leader. However, the leader did not see
the gender of the pup until after the howling. The cub was female instead of a male. In traditional wolf packs, the first-born male cub of the leader and mate became the
future pack leader. Ninani and Nitah decided to try again and have a male cub, and that they would take Alpha to the swamp in five months.
The swamps were several miles south of the forests. The path was treacherous, with barbed plants, sharp rocks, and dangerous cliffs along the way. For most
of the trip, Ninani carried Alpha. She was too small to tackle the obstacles. While stopping for rests, Nitah and Ninani would take turns hunting for prey and watching
Alpha. It would take three days and four nights for the three wolves to travel down to the swamp.
In the swamp resided a creature known as the Hydra. She has never given her literal name in the years she has lived. Anyone that visits her merely calls
her Hydra. This particular swamp creature had nine heads, one of which was immortal. This multi-headed creature had a violent past many eons ago but decided that
she would live peacefully in the swamp without anyone to bother them. Nitah and Ninani took their only pup to the Hydra. They offered Alpha in exchange as a peace
offering. Nitah and Ninani thought that by giving one of their own to Hydra, she would forgive them and the pack for driving out the food source from the swamp into the
forests. There was a lack of deer and rabbits for the Hydra to eat. Alternatively, she would eat her immortal head that would grow back, but it would be painful.
The Hydra agreed to keep Alpha as a personal pet and threatened that the food would return to the swamp, even if it meant that the wolf pack would have less
prey to hunt.
At the end of the night, Nitah and Ninani bid their goodbyes to Alpha. Alpha started to follow her parents out of the swamp, but Hydra used one of her heads
to keep her from walking. Alpha kept barking at her parents, but they kept walking away somberly. She whined and cried out, begging Hydra to let her go. Hydra told
Alpha that she was supposed to stay so that her pack would not starve. Alpha settled down a little after hearing that news. Although she was still upset, she wanted to
return to the wolf pack in the future when she could overcome the path up to the forest. Hydra explained to her that the swamp was her new home. She warned her that
if Alpha tried to escape the swamp, she would be considered an enemy and mercilessly attacked. Alpha became scared and started to cry into the scales of Hydra.
Eventually, Hydra asked Alpha to stop her cries and assured her that she would get the training and care to become a fully-fledged wolf. Hydra never had the chance to
care for another creature and thought this would be a great way to continue the peace she had wanted for so long.
Years following those events, five-year-old Alpha felt that she was an expert at hunting for prey. Hydra had trained her well each day. However, Hydra
wanted to give her a final test. She asked Alpha if she could hunt down a rabbit. Alpha scoffed and stated that she hunted small prey like that almost every day.
However, it was a different kind of prey that Hydra wanted. Her request was to hunt down a rabbit with antlers on its head. Hydra believes one of these creatures is
unique, as it is called a jackalope and is said to roam the far reaches of Koziariel. It would be a long journey to reach the rumored area where the jackalope was located
last, which was the Kingdom of Draconia. That was her first venture into the realm of Koziariel. Several of her adventures lead her to take on different roles, meet new
creatures, and combat obstacles.
