Abashed Ansel Chapter 3
#3 of Abashed Ansel
All I have done on it so far. Make sure to check my furaffinity for updates in case I forget to upload here again.
Ansel woke up the next morning to the ear piercing sound of his alarm, quite a rare occurrence for him. He slowly sat up in his bed looking around his room, trying to figure out where the obnoxious noise was coming from. His gaze eventually settled on his nightstand, where his phone was lit up and vibrating. He picked it up, and swiped the screen to get it to stop blowing out his eardrums. He squinted at the screen as he read the time. 7:30 AM. He almost always woke up an hour or two before his alarm, and could never fall asleep after. He set his phone back down and paused. He turned his head to stare out the window. It was odd, he didn't have the urge to lay back down and go back to sleep. He wasn't feeling even the tiniest bit groggy.
He pushed his covers the rest of the way off him, and stood up. He began to stretch himself out as he pondered why he felt so good. Had recalled heading off to bed a bit earlier than usual, but that alone couldn't be it. In fact he usually felt worse after getting more sleep than normal. He shrugged it off, and headed into his bathroom, turning on the shower to warm it up. As he waited for it to warm up he thought some more. He stepped into the hot water, still not able to figure it out. As he soaped himself up it hit him. He didn't have any feeling of dread the night before. He finally had what seemed to be a stable job, and one he didn't completely hate yet at that. He shut off the shower, and let most of the water run off his scales before drying off.
He made his way back to his room, and over to his closet. He almost started to comb through his closet for dress clothes, before remembering that he didn't need to dress up. Although he was a tad bit disappointed he didn't get to, he decided that wearing something more casual would be more comfortable in the long run. He pulled out a red t-shirt, and walked over to his dresser, where he got out a pair of black shorts. He set them on top of the dresser, pushing away various junk to make room. He pulled out some underwear, and put them on. Afterwards he put the rest on. He smiled as he looked into the mirror, actually feeling good about having to head into work. He grabbed his phone, and went out into his kitchen.
Ansel went to open one of the cabinets, before deciding to go into his fridge. He grabbed a bottle of water, deciding that he didn't need any caffeine for once. He set it down on his table, and then proceeded to sit down himself. He began to go through random apps on his phone, occasionally smiling at them until he had to leave. After around thirty minutes he stood up, gathered his things, and walked out the door. He took the elevator down his building, and then walked out to the parking lot. He got into his car, and started it up.
He took the same route to work that he had the last two days, blasting his radio with the windows down. It was a miracle his car's speakers hadn't blown up yet. He smiled as the cool breeze blew across his face. Nothing eventful happened on his way in, and before he knew it he was at work. He stepped out of his car, and made his way inside. He surprisingly remembered his way to his office, and this time he walked a bit less frantically. He got into the elevator, and pressed the 12 button. Once he arrived on his floor, he walked to his office, and flipped on the lights.
After shutting the door, Ansel wandered over to his desk, and sat down at it. He noticed the chocolate bar from the day before sitting on the edge of his desk. He opened it up, and broke off a square of it as he logged into his computer. He folded the packaging over itself, and set it aside. It was a tad too sweet for him. Afterwards he focused his attention on his main monitor. He dragged the "READ ME" file from before into his recycling bin before opening up the company's to-do list.
Today he actually had something under it. He was actually a bit excited about it. Ansel didn't really enjoy being stuck with nothing to do for a whole day. The tab simply said "Design a...". Whatever else was there got cut off. He clicked on the tab, and began to read it. His assignment for the day was to design a pacifier. To him that was way easier said than done. None of his classes had ever prepared him to make something like this.
He opened up the modelling program that was already installed on his computer, and began to blankly stare at the screen. Luckily for him he was familiar with the program. Unfortunately he had no idea how to get started. Normally he would start out by sketching something, but he hated doing it on paper. He started to rummage through the drawers in his desk, looking for a tablet or drawing tablet, and sighed as he pushed the final one closed. All he had were pencils, pens, and a notebook. He opened the drawer with them back up, and pulled them all out. He noticed that there was a second notebook pushed to the very back of the drawer, but he decided to leave it be. He figured that a whole notebook should last him for a decent while.
Ansel began to tap a pencil on his desk as he opened the notebook up to a blank page. He clicked a piece of lead out of it, and touched it to the paper. He wasn't able to do much more than that. He had way too many questions, and not enough answers. What even went into making a pacifier? He made the assumption that it would be for adults, but how big would it have to be? Was there even an optimal size? He kept tapping his pen as he pondered to himself. He snapped back to reality as he remembered that there were tons of pacifiers in his desk. He pulled them all out, and set them next to the notebook.
He lined them up, and began to compare the sizes of them. It seemed to him that the shields were around the same size on each of them, but much to his dismay the bulbs had a large range of sizes. Some were bigger, some were rounder, and some were flatter. To his knowledge these were all products that were on the market, so clearly there wasn't one design that was superior to the others. At least he could start by drawing out a shield for it.
He picked up a pencil, the notebook, and one of the pacifiers. He made his way to his lounge, and set everything down on the coffee table. He lied down on one of the couches, and picked the pencil and notebook back up. As soon as he was comfortable, he realized he didn't have dimensions for anything. He sighed as he went back over to his desk, and fished out a ruler. He got back onto the couch, and picked everything back up. He began measuring, and then sketching everything out. It didn't take him very long. Normally that would be a good thing, but he had no idea what to do next. There would be no point to just copying the shape of one of the bulbs. That wouldn't exactly be a new pacifier.
Ansel sat back up, not really knowing what to do. He could go ask Lyndon, but he figured that he probably wouldn't know anything about that. He could try to find another product designer and ask them, but they would probably be busy with something else. He closed up the notebook, and slotted the pencil into the rings of it as he stood up. He made his way out his office door after deciding he would just wander the halls until he figured something out.
He began just walking in circles through the halls. He eventually stopped paying attention to his surroundings as he was lost in thought. He suddenly jolted as he heard a loud noise from a room as he was walking by.
"Ugh! God damn it!" The door was open, so Ansel decided to peek in. The room had a desk, and a ton of shelves in it. There also was another door towards the back, but it was shut. Next to one of the shelves he saw a snow leopard staring down at a few boxes that seemed to have fallen down. She didn't seem to be too happy about it. She sighed as she looked up, and noticed Ansel out of the corner of her eye. She locked eyes with him. "Who the h-- Oh. You must be the new guy. I'm Lucile. I do IT stuff around here. Nice to meet you I guess. Did you need something, or?"
"O-oh, my name's Ansel, and no I don't need anything. I just heard a loud noise, and then I heard you, so I just popped my head in." Ansel stepped a bit into the room. It was colder than out in the hall. "Do you need any help with those?" He pointed at the boxes.
"Nope, I got em. The problem is what's in them, if any of them broke I'm gonna be p-- not very happy!" She began picking them up, and setting them back down on the shelf they fell from.
"Oh, um I just remembered something! Do you know if I would be able to get a tablet or a drawing tablet or something?"
"You're the new product designer right?" She grabbed the last box off the floor, and just held it in her hands.
"Mhmm!"
"Seriously? No one thought to give you one? Well funny that you ask I guess, because guess what just fell onto the floor! And these aren't cheap ones either! Right here we have a stack of super expensive drawing monitors! Y'know, like the ones that can work standalone too! If they aren't busted you can have one of them, and if they are I guess you are sh-- out of luck." She opened up the box, and pulled it out. She walked it over to her desk, and plugged it into her computer. "Screen looks fine at least..." She pulled the pen out of it, and began to just tap with it randomly. "Hmm, well it seems to be working!" She unplugged it, put it back in the box, and walked over to Ansel. She held it out to him. "Here, don't drop it, I've done enough of that for a while." Ansel carefully grabbed it out of her hands, setting his notebook on top of it.
"Thanks! Hopefully this makes things a bit easier for me!" Ansel turned around to walk out of the door.
"Hold on. I have a box of random garbage in here that was supposed to be in your office. Now why would we put things where they need to be?" Ansel turned around as Lucile grabbed a box off of one of the shelves. She placed it on top of the drawing monitor's box. "Have fun going through that stuff, now you can leave."
"Alright, thanks again!" Ansel once again turned around, and this time he walked out the door. He walked around the halls until he was back at his office, and he went inside. He took everything over to his desk, and set it down. He took the box stacked on top of the monitor's box, and placed it to the side.
He leaned over the side of his desk to peer down into the box. It seemed Lucile was right about the box being filled with random garbage. There were a few binders and notebooks at the bottom, with a tangled mass of cables on top of them. Scattered within the cable spaghetti were a couple of usb drives. Ansel grabbed the binders and notebooks, and let everything on top of them slide down into the bottom of the box.
He pushed one of the binders down onto his desk, and opened it up. It was jam packed with random papers. As he flipped through he quickly realized that all of the papers were just sketches of various products. He shut it, and set it to the side. He figured that he might be able to make some use of it later. He flipped through the rest of the binders and notebooks, and found them to be the same as the first. He piled them up once again, and set them on the floor next to his chair.
He fished out the two usb drives, and plugged them straight into his computer. It didn't take time for them to load up, and he opened them. Each one had many different folders labelled with various products. He opened up a folder labelled "pacifiers", and found files for the modelling program. He sighed as he closed the tabs back up. The models weren't of any use to him, since he didn't know what he could do to them to make them different. He leaned back in his chair, and began to mindlessly stare at the ceiling.
Ansel almost fell out of his chair upon hearing a knock on the door. He quickly sat up, and took a few deep breaths to help compose himself. He stood up, and made his way over to the door. Upon opening it he saw Lyndon standing outside.
"Hello Ansel! Heard you actually had something to do today!" Lyndon walked inside After Ansel stepped aside for him.
"Yeah... It's not really going the best right now." Ansel laughed awkwardly. "I have to make a pacifier, but I know absolutely nothing about them." The two went and sat down on one of the couches. Lyndon glanced at the pacifier that was still sitting out on the table.
"Oh, have you been trying one out?"
"What? No, I haven't tried one yet." Ansel looked over at the pacifier. "I just had that one out to look at as a reference, but it didn't really help at all..."
"Well, I'd recommend trying all of the ones that are in your desk! You'd probably be able to get more done if you at least knew what they felt like!"
"I don't need to! I'm sure I can just figure it out without having to actually use one." Ansel sighed as he rested his head in one of his hands.
"Well, if you're that against the idea there is always the notebook in your desk that should give you a decent idea on how to design a lot of things we make..."
"Wait really? That would have been nice to know earlier..." Ansel got up, and walked over to his desk. Lyndon followed shortly after him.
"Yeah, it should just be in here!" Lyndon opened up one of the drawers, and bent down to get a better look inside of it. Ansel looked over at Lyndon, and then quickly diverted his gaze. He could see the top of Lyndon's diaper peeking out the back of his shorts. A few seconds later Lyndon stood back up with the notebook in one of his hands. He quietly chuckled to himself as he adjusted his shorts. He dropped it down onto the top of Ansel's desk. "Alright, this should be it!"
"Oh, it's this one." Ansel began flipping through it. He stopped flipping on a page that had 'PACIFIERS' written on the top of it. "I just figured it would be empty like the other one." He began to quickly skim over the page. He soon realized that most of it was just a general idea of what different sizes felt like, and that there wasn't really any that were considered better than the others. "Hmm. This doesn't really seem like it's that useful."
"Yeah, it probably won't be that useful for a pacifier! I'm telling you Ansel, you're gonna just have to suck it up and try a few! Then you'll know what feels the best to you, and can make adjustments based on that! It's not like you have to start using them all the time either! C'mon, just try a few!" Lyndon opened up another drawer in Ansel's desk, and started getting out all of the pacifiers in it.
"Hmm, on second thought I should be able to get a decent design down from just these notes..."
"Oh my god Ansel, you're acting like its gonna kill you! It'll be fine! I promise!" Lyndon picked up one of the pacifiers, and held it up to Ansel's face. "Just try it Ansel!"
"I really don't th--" Ansel was quickly cut off by Lyndon pushing the pacifier into his mouth. Ansel jumped back a bit, started at Lyndon, and then pulled it out of his mouth. "Ugh, there, are you happy now?"
"See, you lived! But you need to try actually sucking on it now, so put it back in there!" Ansel continued to just stare at Lyndon. "Ansel, put it back in." Ansel continued to just stare. "Ansel." Lyndon has shifted from his usually cheery tone into a very stern one. Ansel quickly put the pacifier back in his mouth. "Alright, now can you suck on it a bit?" This time Lyndon was speaking in a much softer voice than usual. Ansel nodded as he began to gently suck on the pacifier. "Good b-- Er job!" Lyndon's voice was suddenly back to it's normal goofy tone. Ansel was giving him a bit of a weird look. "So, what do you think? You can take it out now." Ansel quickly pulled the pacifier out of his mouth.
"U-uhh... I guess it didn't feel terrible? I don't know... It kinda felt a bit small in my mouth if that makes any sense..." Ansel was blushing a bit. He knew what Lyndon was about to say before he cut himself off. It made him feel a bit weird, but a good weird. Specifically weird in the sense that he wouldn't have hated being called a good boy by Lyndon.
"Well, let's find the biggest one, and see how you feel about that one!" Lyndon began to pick the rest up from the desk, look at them for a second, and throw them back down. "Now I could have swore that we put a bigger one in here..." Lyndon began to scan the desk again, before staring across the room at the coffee table. "Oh! It's the one you have out over there! Now you wait right here, ok?" Lyndon went over to the coffee table, and came back carrying the pacifier. He held it out to Ansel. "Alright, now try this one!" Ansel grabbed the pacifier from him, and began to suck on it. After a few seconds he took it back out.
"This one is better than the other, but I think it would still feel better if it were a bit bigger..." He set the pacifier down on his desk as Lyndon began to put the others back in the drawer.
"Well, now you know what to do for a new one then, because that is currently the biggest one we have! See how easy that was to figure out what to do after you tried it?" Lyndon smiled as he gave Ansel a few claps on the shoulder. Ansel jumped a bit, but afterwards ended up smiling.
"Fine, I guess it made it easier. And I guess it didn't kill me either! Thanks I guess..."
"No problem! If you don't mind, could I stick around for a bit while you get started? I still have nothing else to do."
"Sure, I don't care!" Ansel sat down at his desk, and started to go through some of the files on the usb sticks from earlier. "Hmm, I should just be able to use one of these as a base without too many issues coming up..." Ansel quickly got to work. It didn't take very long for him to get sucked into it.
"I'll make sure not to bother you too much!" Lyndon watched what Ansel was doing for a bit, before shifting his attention to the pacifier still out on the desk. He picked it up, and looked towards Ansel. Ansel hadn't noticed him picking it up. Lyndon smirked as he sat still for a few seconds. He looked towards Ansel one last time before quickly popping the pacifier into his mouth. Ansel absentmindedly began to suck on it. It took him a minute until he finally realized what he was doing. He quickly pulled it out of his mouth, all the while glaring at Lyndon.
"Seriously?" Ansel blushed as he opened up one of the drawers, threw the pacifier inside of it, and quickly shut it. Lyndon chuckled.
"Sorry, sorry! I just couldn't stop myself! You didn't even notice when I picked it up! After that there was just no way I couldn't at least try to get it in your mouth!"
"You know if you let me get this finished you'll have more time to mess with me later."
"Alright, alright, but you better be prepared to deal with everything I come up with between now and then!"
"Okay, I'll make sure to mentally prepare myself."
Ansel went back to work. The noise of his mouse clicking and keyboard clacking filled up the room. After a few minutes of watching Ansel, Lyndon decided to just browse his phone. Ansel was flying through stuff so quickly that he could barely follow what he was doing. At this pace it didn't take Ansel long at all to finish up his changes.
"Uh, so what do I do with this now?" Ansel looked over to Lyndon as his head popped up from his phone.
"There should be somewhere to attach the file on the to-do list!"
"Alright!" Ansel went back to clicking around. "Okay, well I guess that's everything I had to do today!"
"Alright, great! Wanna go play some games again like we did yesterday?"
"Not right now, I should probably read through the rest of that notebook just so I'm not totally lost next time I have to do something."
"Oh, alright! That's a good idea! I'm gonna leave you to that then!" Lyndon started walking towards the door. "I'll come check in on you later! Cya then!" He walked out of the room, and shut the door behind him.
Ansel flipped the notebook back to the first page, and quickly flipped through each page. Nothing seemed to be in any particular order, everything seemed to have just been put in as needed. Once again Ansel flipped to the first page. He began to read through everything. There were notes on tons of different things. Bottles, diapers, onesies, pullups, cribs, changing tables, car seats, highchairs, bouncers, and of course pacifiers. Some sections were more detailed, and others just had broad concepts like the pacifiers.
Ansel found it a bit difficult to stay focused while reading. He couldn't stop glancing up at the pacifier still sitting on his desk. The bright red shield just kept catching his eye. He kept having a strange urge to start sucking on it again. Every time he tried to ignore the urges they would just come back even stronger than before. Eventually he picked the pacifier up, and just held it. He couldn't take his eyes off the glossy red plastic as he pushed the handle up and down. He flipped it around to stare at the bulb. He was practically drooling at the thought of it in his mouth. He couldn't take it any longer, and pushed the pacifier into his mouth. He leaned back in his chair and smiled as he began to suck on it. For a brief moment he felt as if he didn't have a worry in the world.
This feeling of total bliss didn't last for very long. A feeling of shame quickly washed over him. He wasn't a hatchling, so why was he sucking on a pacifier? This was wrong, he shouldn't be enjoying it. He wrapped one of his fingers around the handle, and started to gently tug at it. However, he quickly had second thoughts on pulling it out. He thought back to Lyndon's gentle voice as he started to say "Good b--". Ansel had no trouble mentally filling in the rest, but as he did his face slowly began to match the shade of the pacifier. How could something so natural feeling, something so relaxing be wrong. It couldn't possibly be wrong. Especially if Lyndon was willing to call him a good boy over it. Ansel lowered his hand as he kept sucking his paci.
The more he thought about the first time he had sucked on a pacifier the blushier and blushier he got. Lyndon had been able to so easily get Ansel to do what he wanted. His kind yet stern voice made Ansel feel like a child who had done something wrong. And then his shift to a kind and soft tone put all of Ansel's worries at ease. The more and more he thought about it, the more and more like a hatchling he felt.
He shook his head to try and clear his thoughts. Just because he was sucking on a pacifier didn't make him a baby. He wasn't wearing diapers or anything. He giggled as he remembered seeing the back of a diaper poking up from Lyndon's shorts earlier. Technically that would make him the baby. This was finally enough to clear his head. Ansel picked up the notebook, and started to read it again, sucking on the pacifier the entire time.
He found it much easier to focus this time, and got through the entire notebook in a relatively short amount of time. He didn't spend enough time on each page to completely understand everything, but he would be able to go back to the notebook any time he needed it. The whole time he read he found himself wishing that he had the pacifier he had just submitted. The bigger bulb would feel so much nicer. He hoped that whenever the first few prototypes are made that he would be given one. If not, he wouldn't be asking for one. He didn't really feel comfortable enough to admit he actually liked sucking on a pacifier. At least for the moment.
Ansel set aside the notebook, and got back onto his computer. Since he had nothing better to do, he began to browse various websites. It didn't take him long to settle on watching some videos. He found himself beginning to forget the pacifier was in his mouth. He could never completely forget about it though. Occasionally he would suck on it slightly harder, or bite down on it by accident. Each time he was slightly confused, before remembering what he was doing. He quickly sat up in his chair upon hearing a knock on the door. He got up, and started walking to the door. He paused, realizing what was still in his mouth. He quickly ran back to his desk, and put it in one of the drawers. He then ran over to the door as to not take an abnormally long time to open it. He opened it up, and Lyndon was there. He had a pizza box in his hands.
"Hey, hopefully I'm not interrupting anything! Do you wanna have lunch together again? I still have some pizza leftover from yesterday!"
"Sure, I've finished everything up for the moment." Ansel froze up, noticing Lyndon was just staring at him.
"Did you have your hand on your face or something? You have a mark around your mouth..." Lyndon kept staring. It didn't take him very long to figure out what it was from.
"O-oh, I guess I must have been if there is a mark!" Ansel awkwardly laughed, and then quickly walked over to the lounge. Lyndon followed after shutting the door, and then sat down next to Ansel. He set the pizza box down on the table. He flipped open the box, and grabbed a slice.
"Hope you don't mind cold pizza, because I'm too lazy to warm it up!" Lyndon decided to avoid looking at Ansel for the moment. Ansel definitely knew that he knew.
"Yeah, that's fine." Ansel grabbed a slice as well, and the two began to eat.
"Would you like to play a game or something after we're done eating?"
"Uh, sure I guess!"
The two sat in silence as they ate. Both of them grabbed more slices until the box was empty. After they were finished, they stood up, and headed over to Lyndon's office. Ansel sat down on a couch as Lyndon knelt down at the shelf with all the games on it.
"So, whaddya wanna play today Ansel?" The top of Lyndon's diaper was poking out the top of his shorts again. This time Ansel didn't look away. It was not a plain white diaper. Now that he was paying more attention he could see that it was a light pink instead. There was also some sort of print on it, but he couldn't make out what it was.
"Hmm, it doesn't really matter to me."
"Alright!" Lyndon put a disc into a console, grabbed two controllers, and then stood up. He handed one of the controllers to Ansel as he sat down next to him. He booted up the game he had put in. This time it was a racing game.
"Ooo, this might have been a bad choice, for you at least!"
"Pretty big talk from such a small dragon! We'll see about that!"
The two started up a round, and began to play. Ansel was definitely better in terms of raw skill, but Lyndon was getting lucky with item pulls. The two traded first and second place quite often, but the first race ended with Ansel in the lead.
"Alright, so I guess you are pretty good... That was pretty close though, and there are still three more races left! I'd say I have a pretty good chance!"
"Yeah yeah, you can tell that to yourself if it makes you feel better." They started up the second race, and it went quite similar to the first. They traded places throughout the race, and it ended up with Ansel in first again.
"Hey Ansel, that mark from earlier was from the pacifier, right?" Ansel's eyes went wide and his face turned bright red as he looked over at Lyndon.
"W-what? N-no! I don't know what you're talking about!" He turned away, trying to find anything to stare at instead of Lyndon.
"C'mon Ansel. You knew that I knew when I asked about it before, right?" Lyndon had taken on the same soft tone from earlier. Ansel sat in silence for a few moments as he stared at the floor.
"Y-yeah. I uh, didn't know that it left a mark." His blush deepend as he realized how effortlessly Lyndon was able to get him to talk about it.
"Well, I just want you to know that there's no reason to be embarrassed about it. I'm certainly not going to judge you about it. Especially since I occasionally suck on one too. And I'd also argue that the fact I wear diapers is just a bit more embarrassing." Lyndon almost placed a hand on his shoulder, but stopped himself, not wanting to push too many boundaries.
"Y-yeah, ok." Ansel shifted his gaze up from the floor to the wall. Specifically to a clock hanging on it. "O-oh wow, would you look at the time! Time to go home already!" He quickly stood up, and went over to the door. "See ya tomorrow Lyndon!"
"Have a good night!"
Ansel walked out into the hall, and then into his office. He made his way over to his desk, and opened up one of the drawers. He grabbed the pacifier he had been sucking on, and put it in his pocket. He then made his way all the way down to his car. He almost popped in the pacifier on his drive home. The thought of someone seeing him sucking on it through his windshield quickly persuaded him otherwise.
The moment he entered his apartment the pacifier was put in his mouth. He sucked on it throughout the night as he watched tv and played games. He laid down in bed, and tried to fall asleep as he sucked on it. It still took him a little bit of thought though, so he took it out, and placed it on his nightstand. Surprisingly memories of the day didn't keep him awake, and he quickly drifted off to sleep.
