CHAPTER FOUR

The Meaning of Life

Nameless had let all his limbs limp and had not stopped crying a stream of tears as he rested his head and part of his serpentine neck on the fresh sand. His right paw was still bleeding after he had littered the beach with rags freeing it earlier, and all his other pads required time to heal as well; the bandaging over his neck and chest had been coming off and was partly dangling since his trip in the jungle, and where it covered his soft underside, wrapped around his armored back above and below his wings, he had smeared it with a mix of his own blood and semen.

His heart had not been disqualified from being reminded how it could and would take pleasure from fear; and while it never enjoyed killing people it had felt things done by dragons which it could not forget or deny -- he suddenly stopped crying realizing how all his tears had not been for his victims, but only for himself! He knowingly was the one dragon on the Wedge of Earth to have become empathic and only so, through such paradoxical intermix of feelings, could he have felt such bliss in bonding with the bunny man who, having disregarded him all the while, had picked up the soggy pink beach towel to head to the sunny ocean for a wash.

Looking from the shadow of the palms, the dragon's eyes smiled after having left large wet stains in the sand; other than being so intrigued by that biped, whose mysterious natural chemistry was extremely enticing to him, he also found him amusing, struggling as he was at getting all that goo off himself and the towel even though fully immersed in the ocean.

His last tears had been happy ones as he should have been dead, gone forever back to the Void that was before and ahead of the life of all creatures after his attempted suicide in the Forbidden Wasteland of Icy Death. Seeing how he identified with and so accepted the Void, this had completely pacified him as he believed all beings, even though at different levels of awareness, were nothing itself and so to be treated with great respect or, if self-aware, as equals. Yet no other would ever accept this truth as most would rather be killed than being forced to stop angrily fearing and hating the Void -- if pleasure came from violence as life from death then without it existence wouldn't be possible, nor the freedom existing in being able to fully control those powerful draconic urges of his which, up until then, he had always felt guilty about having.

As he arrived to this wonderful conclusion the bunny man emerged from the waters to lay out the pink towel in the sand under the sun before heading towards him in the shade of the palms; he didn't raise his dragon head as he was still very relaxed and rather liked looking up to him instead, his heart beat increasing the moment their eyes met.

The bunny man walked all the way up to him coming to a standing stop very close to his big bad nose, his bunny ears reaching well above the tip of his curved horns; his short fur was completely wet, he was taller and wider-chested than most bipeds, and in the middle of his strong digitigrade legs his exceptional cock was aimed right at him, magnetized and ready for more action. With just a nod the bunny man let him know he wasn't expecting another performance, grabbing a hold of his own cock with one hand and a fleshy dragon nostril with the other, pleasing himself briefly before coming over his scaly snout without uttering a word, looking straight into him all the while.

The nameless dragon remained as silent and pleasantly thoughtless as he had been since the physical contact, just watching bunny man let go of his nostril to just casually turn his back on him and slowly step away -- while being spent and saturated by the erotically stimulating smell it still made his stomach growl hard. Something as silly as the necessity for survival made it so that his very innards were imploring him to just go ahead and make a bloody mess of the bunny man, as they were ready to let him know how grateful they would be if he did; but being aware as he was and in control of himself it didn't disturb him, and even though he would have loved something to eat he decided he would wait for the bunny man to mention it.

The bunny man didn't have to go too far to retrieve the blunt partially hidden under the sand; he turned around to face the dragon holding it like the small club it was and, in covering the distance with a few hops, returned to stand very close to his maw which hadn't moved from where it lay comfortably flat on the soft sand.

"You look terrible," he said, making a shiny metal lighter appear in his left hand.

"Thank you," replied the dragon, moving just his lips and nodding with just his big black slanted eyes as he spoke in the forbidden human tongue, switching to an expression which indicated both sarcasm and genuine gratitude.

"You are special," bunny man seemed to want to go on saying something, instead he paused and took his time to properly relight the blunt, then made himself comfortable in the sand so that, in the light breeze, the dragon could passively inhale it. "But you look like shit," he then added in a choked voice, clearing his throat pointing and shaking an accusatory right index finger as the rest of his hand firmly held the smoking torch, "you need to eat."

"I won't harm you or any other being," replied the dragon in his own tongue, worriedly and pained, "and could I try that?"

"No. You are in no condition to try this." He proceeded to inhale deeply, allowing thick white smoke to slowly creep out of his mouth by not exhaling; only then did the dragon notice he had unusually long canines.

"What does it do?"

There was a long pause as the bunny man sitting on the tropical beach by the dragon wasn't in a hurry to smoke the blunt.

"It increases all sorts of appetites," he replied calmly after a taking a sequence of quick drags, then waving the lit blunt in the air, "and it's also good for butt sex."

And in so casually making the filthy claim, his eyes reddening, he smirked in looking away from the dark scaly snout dotted by his own cum, sure looking sated as he stared at the perfectly flat horizon under the clear blue sky going for a lung-filling drag.

If the dragon could have blushed he would have and just smiled softly instead, looking away as he twisted his large head slightly shifting the sand beneath it, squinting: while it was completely new to him he would dream about it as all he really wanted, other than eating something, was to stay with that bunny man forever. But instead of saying anything of the sort he lifted his horned snake-like head and folded his damaged wings neatly, bringing his center of balance back for the hammock to reverse a bit. He then aimed his snout and stared down at the bunny man whose body he could've easily split in half with a single bite and said:

"I don't see how."

The bunny man choked on the smoke but kept on laughing as the dragon on wheels waited truly as still and blank as a statue if not for his living breathing chest. Once he recovered, still sitting on his butt and looking straight across the gently curved beach in the afternoon sun, he added:

"There is another one here who is me... much bigger than you are. If this body was to die then I would become it, so..." and from his tone of voice and the oddness of the encounter that very smart dragon did not misunderstand the bunny man's implicit request.

"I don't know what you are," he replied in his naturally booming voice, unamused, "or what your problem is..." he said, rather menacingly if he then didn't just look away lowering his eyes and shaking his head without looking at him adding, "I will not harm you."

"Fine," replied the bunny man dryly, just holding and no longer smoking his colossal blunt, still looking away gloomily so that the nameless thought he would be the one to do the crying this time, yet he didn't and instead continued, slowly enunciating:

"When you die you are erased forever. Life doesn't want to die and nothingness doesn't want to exist having to forget itself forever, but it does and that's how it is, but not for me as I am all that is left of the god of your universe."

The dragon was indeed caught by surprise, but the more seconds ticked away in reverent silence the more everything made sense, no matter how dizzy he was from exhaustion, passive inhalation, starvation, physical pain and the stupid proportion of what had been just revealed to him.

He didn't however have to put any thoughts together to take a deep breath and ask:

"Why did you wish me to kill you?"

"I thought you could do it with love," replied the bunny god and, after a moment, he brought his left palm to his face as he let a few tears drop onto the sand, a bank of thick white smoke lazily aloft over the beach slowly drifting away from them.

The nameless dragon nodded slowly and understandingly. "It doesn't matter what else you are or what you can do," he said, turning his big black slanted dragon eyes to the flat deep blue waters of the ocean under the brightly lit azure sky, "I will die before I hurt anyone again."

"You freely chose certain death yet you didn't die," replied the bunny god, having already dried his tears and smiling peacefully, his reddened pale blue human eyes fixed on the horizon, "you're hurt and it seems like the same is true for me even though mine are only feelings. Believe me dragon, I had no idea it would come to this: even though I purposely took this shape to tempt you to murder me and enjoy the memory of a violent death I now see it was wrong and no longer expect this from you. I am, however, an aging mortal like yourself now, the only difference is I have another body waiting for me the moment this one dies, and I can no longer change the way things are as the wheels are now set in motion."

"I love you," said the dragon carelessly and in a beat of his wild heart, and even though the sad bunny god wasn't looking at him he really hoped he truly felt the same way about him. Then, since he still wasn't going to reveal how much the absence of food was torturing him, in being confronted with his own creator to break the awkward silence he asked:

"Where did Disco Ball come from?"

"The universe where I was from."

"Another universe... where?"

"Out there in the Void," replied the bunny man, then after having held the blunt for the longest time he took a drag so strong it set its tip ablaze right before he put the thing out in the sand.

"And what is a Disco?" then came the dragon's cheerful question, being there no known meaning on the Wedge of Earth.

The serious looking bunny god seemed relieved by the light-heartedness of both the question and the attitude of the nameless before the great complexity of their predicament; he then got up on his paws to brush the wet sand away from his long muscular legs, tight buttocks and fluffy tail, proudly strolling naked on the beach towards the one and only dirt road inland, once again offering his wide shoulders to the dragon who finally understood how he not only accepted but also seemed to enjoy vulnerability. "Let me keep at least some secrets from you," he said heartily, then raising his arm to show him the furry back of his hand as he stopped for a moment. "And I'm sorry about starving you and tempting you with this smelly body -- I honestly thought you wouldn't resist it and I know it wasn't fair but I just had to test you."

"You have no idea. What would've happened if I ate you?" asked the dragon curiously, making his wheels turn to spin on the spot in the sand and so align himself with the bunny man before putting his weight forward to follow him away from the beach and back up through the dense forest with a nice view of the inactive volcano ahead.

"I would have turned into a tentacle monster and ripped you apart, then eaten you first and then the whole Wedge of Earth in the most horrible way imaginable."

"Would you still do that?" replied the dragon as he stopped the contraption in its tracks as the bunny god in the lead had also stopped without turning to face him.

"I don't know, maybe. I want to be together with you now, does it matter?" And in saying so he started walking again, more slowly this time.

"No... no it doesn't," replied the dragon, resuming as well. "And while I'll never eat you, you can eat me any time you want," he added, bravely offering himself to the bunny god as proof of his undying love and complete understanding even though the prospect terrified him; the bunny man didn't stop walking or cared to reply, but it was good enough for the nameless to notice how he had turned his bunny ears back to listen while walking relaxedly in the middle of the road through the jungle holding his long-fingered human hands together behind his tall and athletic alien figure.
