Hey guys, this is my first story so I hope you like it. Please leave a comment and rate it. Thank you. :)
"Pika! Pika! Pikachu!" Mark sat up rubbing his eyes. He punched the Pikachu alarm clock off his bedside counter which caused it to hit the ground with a crack. The noise of the alarm ceased. Mark sat on the edge of his bed still tired and groggy. "And another average day starts." With that, Mark left his room and went off to the bathroom. He finished his business, took a shower and then got dressed. Mark was a young man with black hair, green eyes and a neutral look on his face. He was wearing a red and white shirt, a pair of dark blue jeans, black and red shoes and a red and white hat.
Mark was just another normal kid in Twinleaf Town. He lived with his parents in a country house on the outskirts of the small community. He didn't really have any friends and no love life what so ever. However what he did have was a fascination, a fascination of traveling the world. Now Mark himself had never left Twinleaf Town, but he liked to talk to the travelers that rarely passed through. He would listen to all the stories the travelers had. They would tell him of the giant cities of Sinnoh, the beautiful landscapes, the strange pokemon they would encounter and the many battles they have fought. Mark wanted to travel the world with pokemon just like all the strangers he had talked to. The only problems were that his parents wouldn't even let him leave town and he didn't have any pokemon of his own. He had asked his parents time after time again to get his own pokemon but the answer was always no.
After Mark finished getting dressed he went downstairs into the kitchen. Mark's mother, Jennifer, was making pancakes for breakfast.
"Good morning sweetie!" She said with an upbeat tone.
"Meh..."
"Oh don't be so glum Mark. Here, have some breakfast."
She set a plate of pancakes on the table down in front of Mark. A slight smile grew on his face when he saw the smiley face his mother had drawn on the pancakes with whipped cream. He picked up the syrup bottle on the table and poured it over the pancakes making a lot of the whipped cream slide of the face and to the edge of the plate. Mark picked up his fork and started eating.
"Oh, dear, after breakfast, meet your dad in his study, he has a surprise for you."
Mark looked up when he heard the word "surprise". The only time he got surprises from his parents was on Christmas and his birthday. Mark started to gobble down his breakfast as fast as he could. His mom looked back with a "kids these days" look on her face. After Mark finished his pancakes, he put his plate in the sink and rushed upstairs to his father's study. He walked up to the door and knocked. A few seconds later, his father opened the door.
"Ah, Mark, there you are. I have a surprise for you."
Mark rolled his eyes at the same words his mother had said downstairs. His father had a big smile on his face which to Mark, meant that it would be something very important to him.
"What is it dad?"
"Well, your mother and I have noticed you haven't been doing much lately, so we decided to solve that."
"How?"
"By getting you a pokemon!" By now his dad was practically jumping with joy.
"...real.....really?!"
"Yes, we're going to go into town later today to get you one! Are you surprised?!"
"Well...of course! What kind of pokemon?"
"You get to choose when we arrive at the lab!"
"Oh my god! Thank you dad!"
"I knew you would like it!"
"When are we going to get it?!"
"Later this afternoon. You'll have to find something to do until then."
"Cool! I can go hangout with Jake for a while and tell him."
"Alright, you do that son. I have to finish a report for Poketech."
"Alright, later! And thanks again!"
"No problem."
Mark ran his way downstairs nearly colliding with his mom.
"Calm down Mark!"
"Sorry mom, I'm just excited!"
"Oh did your father tell you already?"
"Yup, I'm getting a pokemon! I got to go now mom, I'm going to go hang out with Jake until we have to leave for the lab."
"Ok then, have fun."
Mark bolted out of the front door immediately heading to his best friend Jake's house. Jake had been Mark's best friend for years. They both loved everything about pokemon. Unlike Mark, Jake didn't want to travel the world with them, he wanted to study them. He wanted to learn everything there was to learn about pokemon. Jake and Mark would read books about pokemon for hours upon hours just wishing one day they could have pokemon of their own. Now it's not like they had never seen pokemon up close and personal. They had visited the pokemon center in the center of town many times to see all the different kinds of pokemon that trainers had caught from all over the region.
Mark had arrived at Jake's house. He jumped over the white fence, and ran up the path to his house. Once he got to the doorway, he pressed the doorbell a few times. He sat there waiting out of breath. The door opened to Jake. He was still in his pajamas looking still tired from the morning. He had a scarf on and a cup of coffee in his right hand.
"Hey dude." Jake said groggily and rubbing his eyes. "What's up?"
"Jake, guess what?!"
