_ Encounter_
Sorry for being late in uploading the next chapter. Working on two series is hard and Life hates me. I also had a selfesteem crushing expeirence but thanks to Amberwolf, Shadow Kyuubi, and ShadyDaniel I feel a bit better. Please please tell me if it was good. I need input to improve. With that said enjoy the chapter.
*Splash*
The water flooded the banks as Kyler dove head first in to the current. After a few moments he surfaced shaking his head.
"Hey leave some for us."
He looks up to see Rick and Tiri running towards him. He didn't have a chance to protest as the duo jumped in, the twin waves soaking him. They surfaced and looked at him. Kyler glared at the both of them as he spat out water from the side of his mouth.
"Sorry but don't expect us to go around smelling like blood."
"At least give me a heads up next time."
"We did. I said save some for us."
Sighing he submerged his head under the water.
Tiri silently washed the blood off of her red and orange fur. Wincing in pain as she touches her side. One of the Urasings caught her with a slash attack. It wasn't bad but it was enough to make Rick go berserk.
Glancing over to Rick she notices the water reflecting off of his coat. She smiled to herself as she admired the beauty the water added to his fur.
Rick was washing his light blue fur, growling as he tried to wash away a small spot of blood from endings attached to his head. Finally washing away the blood he made his way to the edge of the bank pulling himself out, shaking the water off his body and stretching.
"Aw that was refreshing."
"Ya it was."
Turning around Tiri kisses him on the lips. After a few moments she steps back and he gazeses into her eyes lovingly. He felt his body get hot. Tiri smiles as she walks over nuzzling him. leaning up and whispering seductively into his ear.
"I personally want to thank you for saving me."
Turning away she walks towards the forest, looking over her shoulder at him and winking.
Kyler resurfaces and looks around. Rick and Tiri were standing on the bank. He watched as she walked away, Rick right behind her. The wind suddenly kicked up, a faint spicy smell in the air causing him to sneeze.
"Hey Kyler, we're goanna go and rest for a bit. Okay?"
He looks up, waving them off.
After a while he looks back towards the way they came sighing in relief. It was finally over, Armando and his group were dead. It was strange though. He was so used to looking over his shoulder out of fear of seeing the bear pokemon standing over the bodies of his friends.
Silently he touched his forehead. Feeling the ancient scar that ran diagnanly from the left side of his head to his right eye. Remembering when he first got the scar, the price he paid for his aroggence, and....
Letting out a depressed sigh he looks back towards the way Rick and Tiri had gone. He couldn't help but feel envious of Rick. He had the guts to ask the girl he liked out, while he sat here alone in the water without the courage to do what he truly wanted to do all those years ago.
Sighing again he starts washing the blood off of his body. He had gotten the most wounds and wanted to find a source of water fast. The longer the blood stayed on his body the more he remembered Armandos dying words.
"We're not so different rabbitfox.*Cough* We both played a role in *Cough* his life. He will find *Cough* out what truly happened and he will kill you. Hah hah... hah..."
Suddenly he felt the back of his neck tingle, glancing behind him almost expecting to see the bloodied form of Armando standing behind him, but there was no one there. Cautiously he watched the tree line, after a while he turned around and resumed washing himself.
*Thud*
His ears perked up and he looked around. After a few seconds he dismissed the sound and washed away the last of the blood.
*Thud*
He looked back upriver. Whatever it was a lot closer this time. Slowly he swam towards to edge of the bank. Suddenly out of the corner of his eye a brown object appeared for a few seconds before disappearing.
*THUD*
He looked and the fur on his body stood on end. A massive tree trunk came hurtling around the river bend, thundering its way towards him.
"HOLY SHIT!"
Quickly swimming towards the edge of the bank, once there he started pulling himself out, half way up the ground crumbled sending him back into the river. He came up sputtering turning around to see the tree trunk almost upon him. He closed his eyes waiting for the end to come.
Petal yawned and stood up stretching. She hadn't slept like that in ages. Her bed consisted of leaves and grasses, the perfect camouflage for her species. She was a leafeon. Being a leafeon was her dream, when her parents took her to Eterna Forest for the first time she couldn't believe it. After that she was fully grown and left moving from place to place, avoiding humans and other Pokémon.
Leafeon's were pacifists, they didn't fight. She was different, a bit more aggressive since she lived with four brothers. She loved to fight and didn't mind losing if it was a good battle. She stood up and looked at the sky, it had to be late in the day. Silently she made her way to where the umbreon was camped. She saw the umbreon battle against the monferno and admired him. She watched him during his stay at the big human building with a red roof. After that he and his group moved to a larger building with lots of Pokémon and stayed there for a week. Sometime during that week her heat came, but the other pokémon prevented her from getting close.
Stopping to sniff the warm midday air, the scent of oran berrys mixed with the faint ocean breeze was heavenly. A faint scent suddenly caught her attention, she tilted her nose up and took a deep breath.
It smelt like...
Her eyes bolted open as she took off in a run towards the umbreons camp site. Slowing down as she neared the camp carefully approaching it and looked around. The camp was a mess, the human tents were ripped to shreds and there were craters all over the place. It looked as if there was a battle recently.
Suddenly she spotted a body lying on the ground a ways away. Cautiously she looked around. It seemed deserted enough but still. Silently getting on her stomach and slowly crawling towards the body, her eyes darting back and forth watching for any sign of an ambush. Nearing the body it looked like a bear, and...
Gasping as she saw that its head was missing. She never saw this kind of Pokémon traveling with the two humans. She looked around, praying to Arceus for some sign. Finally she noticed a blood trail heading into the woods. Knowing that it could lead to umbreon or someone from his group she took off following it.
Whoever it was bleeding a lot, it was a single trail of blood. Quickening her pace, hoping that it wasn't the umbreon's or anyone from his group. Finally she slowed down to a stop taking a few deep breaths.
*Thud*
She looked up and perked her ears.
*Thud*
She headed towards the sound. It was moving fast, suddenly remembering that a river ran from the large human city called Jubilife to Lake Verity.
Something in her told her to speed up the pace. She ran faster and after a few moments finally caught sight of the river.
*THUD*
She looked up stream seeing a massive tree trunk hurtling down the river.
"HOLY SHIT!"
She glanced towards her left and saw the umbreon trying to climb out of the river. She looked back to the tree trunk and back to the umbreon. He had managed to get to the bank and was pulling himself out when the ground crumbled sending him back in.
Without thinking she called on the energy stored inside her and released a fury of sharp edged leaves towards the tree trunk.
*Whoosh*
*CRACK*
The tree was ripped apart by the razor edged leafs, tiny pieces harmlessly sailing by the umbreon. She sighed in relief. She looked up and saw the umbreon was looking in her direction. Her stomach squirmed and she took off back into the forest. She ran as fast as she could his voice calling out to her.
"Hey wait!"
She ran and ran until she thought she was far enough away for them not to track her. She collapsed on the ground panting heavily.
That was sure stupid of you.
"Shut up." She told the voice in her head.
Nope. Now what are we going to do? He SAW us.
"I know that, but what could I have done? Let him die then and there? I won't do that."
Oh so you love him do you?
"No I... I only need him to-"
To do what? Get rid of the itch. Na you like him too much.
"I said shut up!" Raising her voice to a yell.
You can't make me Petal. I'm you.
"Well I'm telling myself to SHUT UP!"
I'm not going away. But I will watch. It is so exciting to see what we're going to do.
With that the voice went quiet and she rested her head on her paws. It or she had a point. He did see her and called out to her.
"Why must everything be so difficult?"
She laid there and listened, expecting the voice to give her some lecture or something, but it didn't. She closed her eyes and sighed.
Kyler closed his eyes expecting to open them again in front of Arceus's gate. He could feel the tree's dark shadow nearly upon him.
*Whoosh*
*CRACK*
After a few seconds he opened his eyes in time to see the massive tree trunk disappeared in a fury of leaves. Quickly he looked around. Suddenly he spotted a figure in the distance near the tree line. It looked like a... Before he could see what it was the figure suddenly took off into the woods.
"Hey wait!"
He scrambled out of the river, looking up to see the figure was gone.
"Damn. I at least wanted the thank them."
He sighed and headed in the direction Rick and Tiri gone. He looked back at the spot where the figure once stood. After a few seconds he shook his head and headed the way the two eeveelutions went.
Taking his time, figuring they couldn't have gotten far. His thoughts concentrated of his savoir and how close he came to certain death.
That figure...I had seen something like it before...that attack was Razor Leaf...a grass type?
He couldn't stop thinking about the figure, its form was somehow familiar. After a while he gave up trying and guessed he should relax and get Rick and Tiri then head towards Richie's.
"RICK!!!!!"
Tiri's voice echoed through the forest. At the sound he bolted forward through the forest, his legs pounding like pistons.
"No it can't be." He thought with rising panic.
He was sure Armando was dead. But after the years of being chased by the Urasing and his group Kyler knew that almost nothing could stop the Urasing from getting what he wanted.
He busted through the underbrush expecting to find Armando standing over the broken forms of both eeveelutions. Instead Tiri was lying on her back with Rick on top of her, the air heavy with a musky scent. His jaw dropped and he quickly turned around blushing.
"I...this..."
He flattened his ears and walked off, his face red with embarrassment. "If you two wanted to mate without being disturbed then you should have told me. I thought you guys were being attack."
He sneezed and made his way back through the underbrush, calling over his shoulder.
"When you two are done and cleaned up we're leaving... okay?"
Rick watched Kyler disappear through the bushes laying his head on top of Tiri's chest.
"Is it me or is something bothering him?"
Tiri reached up biting his ear softly. "Well ya. He just caught us mating."
He gently shook his head. "No it's something else." Slowly he picked himself up off of her. She rolled out from under him and stood up. "Well... He is a single father raising a cub. I guess not having a mate does that to you."
He nodded to her and headed off towards the river.
After cleaning up and joining Kyler, they headed towards Jubilife. Rick humming a small tune along the way. After a while they spotted the city and headed east along the city limits.
"Hey Kyler?"
"Ya Rick."
"What are you going to say to Evy when you see her?"
Kyler went silent, what was he going to say to her. That he missed her, or straight out tell her that he loved her? He never gave it any thought until now.
"I don't know."
"You don't know?"
"I..." He looked down. "What should I tell her. That I missed her?"
"Well...ya pretty much."
He glanced back at Rick. "You honestly think that's going to work." Rick smiled and nodded towards Tiri. "Yep. That's how I got a mate a pretty as Tiri. I saw her one day and said she was the most beautiful girl around."
She kicked a bit of dirt at him.
"Oh you big flatterer."
He dodged it and leaned over and licked her cheek. She blushed and turned away.
"If you want to be alone I can go on ahead."
Both looked at Kyler and blushed.
"What, no it's okay." Rick saying through his reddened face.
Kyler looked back at them.
"You're sure? I have no problem with waiting."
"I said its okay."
"Allright. I was just suggesting."
The rest of the trip went smoothly. Talking about past battles and adventures, Rick telling them on how he was raised in Snowpoint and how he once went against Candice the gym leader before he evolved. Tiri was raised by a breeder name Sarah and she gave Tiri to Brendan after the two fell in love.
After a while the conversation steered towards evolution. Rick evolved on the first month of their journey. Tiri evolved during an encounter with a victorybell after Brendan found a firestone. Finally it was Kylers turn. He had evolved during their journey in Kanto. It was against Sabrina a psychic type gym leader, the battle was a three on three. The battle lasted a long time since he was still a eevee and could resist some of the psychic attacks.
*Flashback*
*Crash*
Diane watched in as the dust settled revealing Kyler lying face down.
"Kyler is unable t-"
Slowly the eevee got to his feet, his body covered in cuts and bruises. Stepping forward slowly.
"That eevee of yours has remarkable endurance. But continuing will severely injure him. There is no shame is surrendering."
Diane looked at Sabrina. She was right about surrendering. But they had worked so hard to prepare for this match. But she didn't want any member of her team to get hurt. Slowly she walked over and placed her hand on the badly beaten Pokémon.
"You don't have to continue if you don't want to."
"I can still fight."
"No you're too hurt I can't-"
"I still want to fight. We worked too hard to give up now."
She looked at the tiny Pokémon. "You really want to do this don't you?" He nodded. She smiled and hugged him. "I'm behind you all the way buddy." Suddenly his body tensed and started to glow white. His body grew larger. Slowly the light faded away revealing his fur turned black and several yellow rings on his body. His light blue eyes turned to red and then faded towards a purplish color, and then back to blue.
She slowly lowered him and placed him on ground. Shocked at his evolution, she had expected him to evolve into an espeon, but an umbreon.
"Whoa that was weird."
"Ya it was." She ran her hand through his short black fur. She had felt a strange energy emit from him during the process and it felt as if he changed, more than physically.
Slowly he looked up at her. "Let's get this battle over with."
She nodded and stood up and walked back to the ring, her newly evolved Pokémon behind her.
The referee looked at them and nodded.
"Let the match continue!"
Rick and Tiri laughed. After a while they quieted down and continued traveling.
The sun was starting to disappear over the horizon.
"Hey I thought you told Ry that we were goanna be there around sundown?"
Kyler glanced back at Rick. "Ya, we're almost there."
"Well how much longer."
The umbreon pointed to a hill in the distance. "Well from what I remember. Richie bought a place near the cabin. I think we're almost there."
"Wait what cabin?"
"Diane and I grew up in a cabin near here. It's between here and Oreburgh. So we haven't passed it. Diane told me where it was a few days ago."
"Okay so where is it?"
Kyler stopped and looked around. Finally sighting a light in the distance.
Smiling he started walking towards it. "There."
Rick looked at the umbreon, then at the light. "Are you sure?"
"Yes. That should be it."
Rick stared at the umbreon and sighed. "Great. Why can't it be closer?" Tiri licked his cheek. "Aw come on sweetie. Its good exercise and you're getting kind of chubby lately." He looked at her. "I'm getting chubby?"
She smiled and ran off to catch up with Kyler. Rick stared at her for a moment before running to catch up.
