New Stone City?, why does it feel like that's a parody of something

The story of the monster fighters takes place in New Stone City, United States, a place home to around 8 million people in New York state. The Monster fighters are 7 high school kids attending St Thomas High school, a rich kid school but with a lot of normal families attending it near the north east end of the city. The events in this story take place in September of 2021, and the main events of the story take place in and around museums, how would that tie into the story? It will be explained later on. Lastly the monster fighters are roughly acquainted with each other unless specified, but all are either 12 11th or 10th graders give or take.
