“This is Point Man, I'm in position. I have a visual on the HVT."
Kuga Sakamata, or as he was more famously known as Gang Orca, stood quietly with his men inside the abandoned building. In front of them was a setup consisting of a monitor that displayed a live video feed of his undercover agent. Kuga's eyes drifted to his men, or his sidekicks, that were with him in the room. All of them were wearing the Gang Orca Agency attire: tactical black bodysuits specifically designed to aid in hero work. Thick white shoulder pads and knee pads for protection, and a full on mask that gave the wearer a larger field of vision than normal. They were equipped with utility belts that gave them access to various items such as flashbangs, stun grenades, and even a first aid kit in case things get dicey. A blaster was strapped to their right hand, loaded with quick hardening bullets meant to immobilize targets quickly. While Kuga's sidekicks weren't really able to show off their individuality, they more than made up for it for their efficiency.
Being the boss and the main hero, Kuga was the one dressed differently. Amidst their small group of four, he stood out against the sea of black tactical suits. Dressed in his signature white suit and white slacks, Kuga adjusted the pink tie on his neck. His black cape that mimicked the animal his quirk was based on slightly shifted as he moved. It wasn't fancy like All Might's nor loud like Endeavor's but it was an attire that through sheer hard work and dedication Kuga made famous.
That and it wasn't expensive to maintain.
His attention was brought back to their current operation when the video on the monitor shifted and their undercover agent began to meet up with their target. It was a simple sting operation: they had intelligence that suggested that their target was an arms dealer selling illegal weapons to civilians. They just needed proof and once money changed hands, it was a done deal. Normally Kuga himself would let his men handle such a typical affair. A big hero such as himself could be dealing with far more pressing matters. But there was something that bugged him. When his men gave him the intelligence report, they informed him that there was also another individual doing the same. Naturally Kuga asked who it was but his men failed to give him an answer. They did their best to spy on the other spy but whoever it was, he knew to keep himself hidden.
From what they gathered, their target named Azakai Ando, was an assassin that figured he could be a businessman. He was nothing special and nothing out of the ordinary. But Kuga's instincts got the better of him. Why would someone be interested in a no name like Azakai? And said person is good enough to evade his men's spying capabilities. The question bugged him enough to the point where It prompted Kuga to be present on the day of the sting operation.
“You got the goods?" Point Man asked in the video.
Azakai appeared on screen. Dressed in typical civilian attire, nothing stood out to Kuga. There was a wry smile on Azakai's face. “You got the money?"
Point Man placed the large briefcase on the table in front of them. He opened it for Azakai to see, giving him an eyeful to the stacks of bills inside. “Slightly used and from a year ago; just as you asked."
Azakai nodded. He then walked over and placed the briefcase he had with him on the table. He unlocked it and then turned it around to face Point Man. The camera lingered on it long enough to allow even the team viewing it on the monitor could see it. “BulletFreak-AP Sniper Rifle," Azakai said. His hands lightly hovered over it like a salesman giving a spiel. “Bolt action with a magazine capacity of 5. The viewfinder can zoom all the way up to 10x giving you a crystal clear view of your target." He grabbed one of the bullets that were placed neatly next to the disassembled weapon. “This bad boy is loaded with .50 Cal bullets that are both armor penetrating and armor piercing." Azakai smiled gleefully. “One shot of this can crack a skull and then some."
“Have you used this before?" Point Man curiously asked.
“Oh numerous times. I personally refer to it as 'Lil Toot Boy'. You have to lead your shots though on greater distances. But I'm sure you're well aware of that." He then cleared his throat. “Do we have a deal then?"
“We do," Point Man replied.
Azakai was about to reach out to shake Point Man's hand when something caught his attention. There was something sticking out from the corner of the briefcase with the money. “Do you mind if I check something?"
Point Man remained calm. “Sure, go right ahead."
Azakai then reached into the briefcase and felt around. He could feel a small ring with his index fingers next to what felt like a cylindrical object. His eyes narrowed as he glanced at Point Man. “You know, I thought we had a connection." Point Man was a bit confused at where Azaka was going with this up until the man pulled the object out. It all happened in a quick flash. A stun grenade appeared briefly on screen. In an explosion that rocked the entire building, Point Man was flung backwards, the video feed going sideways as the man fell onto the floor. He was clearly stunned as he groaned while laying there, dazed and confused. On the feed, Azakai could be seen making a hasty getaway, running away from the scene of the transaction. In both of his hands were the briefcases that contained the sniper rifle and the money.
It seemed the operation just took a turn for the interesting.
No words were needed to be said as Kuga and his team sprang into action. This wasn't the first time an operation went south. They immediately broke off into two groups. Two of his men raced to check in on Point Man, and Kuga himself was accompanied by the other two to try and chase after Azakai. They ran into the building, climbing up the steps to try and cut off the fleeing criminal.
Azakai looked down and could see people running after him and ran through the nearest open door. He passed through scaffolding, unused construction equipment, and even some trash that some loiterers left behind. Kuga and company were hot on his heels. Kuga motioned with his fingers and his two sidekicks broke off. They needed to corner Azakai before things got more out of hand. Azakai kept running, eventually reaching the other side of the building and after a split decision decided to climb up the roof. Police sirens could be heard in the far distance and he knew that the streets would be crawling with cops. In an effort to try and slow Kuga down, he materialized mirrors all around him, a power gifted to him by his quirk. With a flick of his wrist, he aimed the nails he had picked up along the way and threw it at the reflective surface. Instead of shattering it, the mirror reflected the nail back with respect to the mirror's angle. It defied the laws of physics as it doubled in both energy and momentum upon doing so. The speeding projectile pinged back and forth, traveling down the steps, guided by the many floating mirrors.
If it wasn't for Kuga's own quirk, he would have been in serious trouble. Thanks in part to his quirk, orcinus, he was able to sense the high pitched frequency of the nail as it whizzed through the air. The frequency was low enough that no bare human ear could hear it but high enough for him to sense it. Kuga instinctively ducked before he even saw it coming. The dangerous nail embedded itself on the wall behind him. Kuga didn't get to reflect on the matter however as more projectiles came flying down at him. Screws, nails, and even a small piece of rock whistled through the air. He did his best to avoid them. One however managed to nick him by the cheek, cutting a gash at his side and making him bleed.
Annoyed and frustrated by the fun and games, he stood his ground and focused. Channeling his quirk, he unleashed a subsonic frequency aimed upwards. Azakai, who was two floors above him, didn't see it coming and was subjected to the full blast. His ears drums felt like they were going to shatter and his sense of balance went haywire. His legs felt like mush and he slumped near the wall to try and steady himself. The mirrors he created shattered, either unable to withstand the subsonic frequency Kuga sent at him or Azakai's power on them slipped due to being stunned. Regardless, it was only through sheer will power that Azakai managed to get back on his feet. His ears were ringing and he wondered if he was ever going to hear again. Escape was so close. Pushing through, he continued going up the steps and eventually ended up at the rooftop.
He willed his legs to keep running and was about to make a sprint when something caught him in his legs. Azakai fell to the ground, the briefcase of both the sniper rifle and the money sliding across the concrete floor. The case of money stopped in front of a figure shrouded in shadow. Azakai assumed it was another one of Gang Orca's lackeys. “And here I thought all of you just followed the big fish's orders," he said cooley. He did his best to sit upright as the figure appeared in front of him. Out from the shadows came a person wearing a black tactical suit, of the same design from the Gang Orca agency but the similarity ended there. If Gang Orca's lackeys followed a strict dress code, this person disobeyed that completely. Atop his tactical suit was a flowing white cloak that reflected the moonlight and flowed with the gentle breeze of the air. A utility belt was hanging loosely around his waist. He wasn't armed; the bulky weapon that all of Gang Orca's sidekicks carried wasn't present at all. The man wasn't even wearing a mask either. The only thing that stood out to Azakai was the man's purple colored hair. It flowed nicely when the wind happened to blow briefly. “Who the hell are you?" Azakai asked.
“Imagiro," the man replied. “And I'm taking you in."
There was another hero working here? Azakai thought to himself. If he had known, he wouldn't have done this operation. Having to deal with Gang Orca was one thing. But Imagiro too? “I'd rather not," Azakai said, standing up fully. He needed to get out of here. But the only way was either through Imagiro or Gang Orca, and while Azakai was familiar with self defense, he wasn't sure if he could stand toe to toe with someone as big as Gang Orca. Throwing caution to the wind, he charged head on at Imagiro who readied himself in a relaxed fighting stance. It was almost insulting that he didn't seem prepared to fight him. By the time the thought occurred to Azakai, it was already too late.
The reason that Imagiro was super relaxed was because Azakai was making it too easy for him. Imagiro easily sidestepped the punch Azakai threw and it left Azakai severely wide open. He was prepared for a counterblow but it never came. Instead, he was just met with a flick of the man's index finger as it graced his shoulder. “Is this some sort of…" He wasn't even able to finish the sentence as the man's quirk began to take effect on him. Azakai felt his body vibrate, a cold shiver running down the entirety of his spine. His ears began to ring with a distinct whizzing sound that drowned out everything around him. Then he froze, finding it difficult to move. “What have you done to me?!" he cried out in panic. Azakai looked at his limbs then in a blink of an eye they began to morph. It started from his fingertips then moved to the rest of his body. Like a wave that moved through the entirety of his form, anything it traveled changed from a three dimensional structure to a two dimensional one. He watched in real time as he deflated, turning flat like a piece of paper. Then it started. Like his bones weren't even there, he began to fold into himself. He would have screamed but found his voice momentarily muffled. However, no sooner that the horror began did it end. Azakai's point of view of the world shifted lower to the ground. He tried to move but found himself crawling instead. “What the hell?!" he cried out. He tried to run but could only move very short distances. Why did everything look so big? It was further emphasized when Imagiro came into view and he looked like an absurdly oversized kaiju. Azakai screamed in terror, utterly confused and scared at what just happened. If this was a quirk, he had never seen anything like it before.
“Relax," Imagiro said, smiling at him. “This isn't going to kill you."
“What have you done to me?!" Azakai shouted. He found his voice once more but it was shockingly softer than it used to be.
“I turned you into a cute piece of origami," Imagiro replied. He then produced a small box from his pocket and placed Azakai into it. With the brief reflection of the glass box, there Azakai could see: he had been transformed into an origami fold in the shape of a small bug. He screamed in surprise. “Put me back!" he shouted in a combination of a threat and a plea. This was something he had never imagined someone could ever do.
“Later," Imagiro answered. “Once I can deliver you into prison. Use this as your chance to think of what you did." And with that, Imagiro triggered his quirk again. He turned the small glass box Azakai was in into a piece of paper itself and began to fold it. Smaller and smaller it got up until it became almost the size of just a small note in his hand that could fit in his pocket. The entire 'fight' between Imagiro and Azakai only lasted for a short minute. Fast enough that by the time Gang Orca arrived on scene, it was all over. “Where are you?!" Kuga cried out, looking around frantically. His eyes landed on Imagiro who was standing in the middle of the rooftop. “You?!" Kuga's stance slowly relaxed. “What are you doing here?"
“I'm working," Imagiro replied. He then noticed the injury that Kuga had sustained. “You're bleeding," he said and began to walk over.
“I'm fine," Kuga answered, dismissing Imagiro's concern for him. “Where is he?"
“Who? The guy you were chasing after?" Imagiro showed him the piece of folded paper that Azakai was now trapped in. “He's right here." He then handed Kuga the briefcase he was holding in his hand as well. “The money's safe too. The sniper rifle is over there."
The sound of footsteps alerted Kuga to other people joining them on the scene. It was his team of sidekicks. Point Man had managed to finally recover but was still clearly being supported by another of his lackeys. All of them showed concern and one of them was visibly wondering what was going on. “Who's that?" one of them asked out loud.
“That's Imagiro," said the other sidekick.
“Huh." He then directed his attention to how Gang Orca and Imagiro were interacting with each other. Imagiro was clearly doting over Gang Orca over the cut in the man's cheeks. It seemed weird to see his boss acting flustered. It was almost out of character. The man knew Gang Orca as serious and all business. To see this side of him was almost alien.
“I'm telling you, I'm fine, Haru," Kuga said, feeling annoyed at how the hero was being to him. “I've had worse."
“I know," Haru responded. “Still, you should get that patched up. You wouldn't want that beautiful face of yours to get scarred."
Kuga's eyes narrowed. “I appreciate the concern."
“I'm surprised you're here," Haru continued. “This feels like small time for someone of your caliber."
“I thought something was up when my men said there was someone else keeping tabs on Azakai." His expression softened and he looked at Haru directly. “I guess seeing you explains why they had difficulty spying on you." He then looked at Haru seriously.
Haru smiled cheekily. “You trained me too well."
“It would appear so." Kuga turned around and directed his men to get the briefcases that were lying about. The last thing they wanted was to lose those. “I'm going to need you to hand Azakai over," Kuga said, speaking to Haru.
Now it was Haru's turn to frown. “And why should I?"
“This crime occured in my sector. I should be the one to take him in."
Haru crossed his arms across his chest. “Last I checked, I was the one that caught him. If I wasn't here he'd have gotten away."
Kuga walked over to him, feeling a bit annoyed at how Haru was being stubborn. “You don't know that."
Haru just stared back at him with a knowing look. Despite not wanting to agree with him verbally, Kuga knew Haru was right. By the time he would have gotten up the rooftop, there would have been many ways for Azakai to have given him the slip. Whether he liked it or not, Haru being in the area actually helped save the otherwise ruined operation. But he wasn't keen on backing down in front of his men. It wasn't going to look good for his image.
But his men were already forming opinions whether he liked it or not. “They seem to know each other quite well," the newbie on the team said out loud.
“Yeah, that's because Imagiro used to be one of us," said the other. He then looked at his companion. “You're actually the one who filled in his position when he resigned. Imagiro's a freelance hero now."
“Oh, that explains some things," the newbie replied, watching the interaction continue to unfold.
Sensing that neither of them were going to back down, Kuga decided to approach the matter diplomatically. Having to argue about something so trivial as cleanup wasn't becoming of him. That and discussing it immediately after a successful operation wasn't a good idea. “Let's discuss this matter in private. Fair?"
“Fair," Haru responded. “Good to see you again Kuga."
“Likewise."
0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0 = 0
Kuga considered Haru to be a very talented hero.
He could still remember the first time Haru applied as a sidekick at his agency. Hailing from a school that didn't have the prestige of UA, Haru stood out to him for his tenacity and his quirk. His quirk, aptly named Fold, allowed Haru to fold away any object, living or nonliving, into a piece of origami. It would turn the subject into a piece of paper and could be disposed of as easily as a piece of crumpled trash. The first time Kuga had seen it, it unnerved him. Sure there were flashy quirks like Endeavor's where you could wield flame and have it bend to your will. Or there's some explosive ones like All Might's where a simple flick of your wrist could create a raging gale storm. They were destructive and could blow anything out of the water. Fold could only dream of having such raw power. But it didn't need to. That was the thing about quirks: it wasn't about what they were. It was how you used them.
And Haru used his with elegance and grace befitting that of the paper origamis he created. What it lacked in strength made up for its usability. Because he could turn anything into paper, it was perfect for search and rescue operations. Haru could fold away debris in their paths and even fold people away to bring them to safety. Any otherwise dangerous operation could be solved in a manner of minutes due to how convenient it made things.
As someone whose operations mostly revolved around rescue missions, Haru was a great addition to the team. And someone Kuga saw could easily become his number two with the progress he was making. Kuga saw Haru as someone reliable, smart, friendly, and charming. They got along pretty well. Whenever they were on missions, Haru would speak his mind freely, even at times questioning decisions Kuga would make in regards to an operation. Normally Kuga would reprimand such insubordination but it was only with time did he realize that Haru had good points. His other lackeys were mostly yes-men, understandably afraid to contradict him, even if the idea he presented was outright terrible. It was only Haru who wasn't afraid of him. And it was this fact that made Kuga like Haru. Which was why it pained him when one day Haru resigned.
Sidekicks come and go. Hero work was loud and fancy, but much like employment, there was always an end. Kuga considered himself a good boss. He paid his lackeys well and treated them with the respect and dignity they deserved. Which was why it confused him as to why Haru decided to leave. The reason Haru gave when Kuga asked him at the exit interview was that Haru wanted to explore new opportunities. While that was an understandable reason, Kuga felt like there was something more. But he wasn't one to pry and decided to just go with that. Haru disappeared soon after. The last Kuga had heard of Haru was that he was doing freelance work. Haru's quirk was strong enough to land him in any agency he wanted and the reputation and reference of working for Kuga himself was enough to get Haru a job wherever he preferred.
Kuga had to admit, he missed the guy. He wasn't one to pick favorites but out of all the sidekicks that had worked for him, Haru was the one that left a lasting impression. His personality and the fact that he wasn't afraid to treat him like an equal instead of a superior cemented the fact. Perhaps it was the main reason that Kuga opted to catch up with Haru. He considered him a friend after all.
“Nice place," Haru said as Kuga unlocked the door to his apartment.
“Were you expecting it to be grand?" Kuga asked.
“Maybe. If someone told me that Gang Orca lived in a simple highrise apartment and not in a lavish Japanese home complete with a bonsai garden to boot, I'd say they were lying."
“What gave you that impression?"
Haru looked at him. “Where do I start? The fancy and expensive looking suit or the fact that you're a top hero working on this side of Japan?"
“I'm not Yakuza, Haru," Kuga answered. “I don't live that kind of lifestyle if that's what you're insinuating."
“Your fashion sense makes me think otherwise."
“I just like to be dressed in sharp looking suits."
Kuga's apartment wasn't anything special. It was a decently sized place that he managed to rent given his fat paycheck of being a hero. True, he could buy a house of his own but he preferred living close to the city and not in a suburb. He reasoned that it would allow him to respond to any crimes that may occur in his immediate vicinity. That and it kept him grounded: being with the people reminded him of how normal people lived their lives and it gave him the necessary perspective when conducting their operations. Despite all the flashy super powers that were popping up in the world, it was still a world where quirkless people existed and it was important to remember that.
Haru looked around, taking in Kuga's living space. The first thing that came to his mind was the bookshelf in the living room that was filled with a wide array of books. Most of them were selfhelp ones: there was a book detailing how to sew and fix problems in clothing, and there was another that taught basic electric work. “I didn't think you'd be up for this sort of thing," he said, taking one of the electronics books and flickering through it. He could see the various post-it notes that were left behind from Kuga's previous times reading through and a few of the pages where the edges had clearly folded over due to the numerous times Kuga had gone through them.
“It pays well to be well rounded," Kuga remarked, heading into the kitchen. He flicked on the lights and dropped the bag of food he had bought on their way back to his apartment on the table. He then began to rummage around, looking to prepare what they were going to have for dinner.
“You cook too?" Haru asked out loud, grabbing one of the cookbooks that was on the shelf. This looked visibly used the most. Some of the pages were torn and there was a lingering odor of something sweet that had spilled into the pages themselves. It was most notable in the desert section.
“Of course," Kuga responded. “You can see that I don't have a butler."
Haru nodded. Wanting to be a good guest, he opted to throw his help at Kuga's way. “Is there anything I can do to help?"
“Yeah, can you help cut those things up?"
What soon followed was a short but a relatively relaxing moment of the two of them in the kitchen. Kuga handled one side and Haru the other. Before long, they got into a sort of rhythm, minding their separate tasks and coordinating with each other when it was needed. Small conversation floated in between them and Kuga used this chance to catch up with Haru. They talked about anything and everything: how life had been treating them, and what they've been doing now. Kuga for his part talked about the stresses of work. It was a topic he rarely thought about, and even rarer to talk with others. For one thing, it was a conversation that not many people would be able to relate to. And one he didn't feel comfortable talking openly with others. Haru was the only person he could talk to about such matters. He didn't even remember when it had started. Maybe it was Haru's charming personality. Or perhaps his charisma. Whichever it was, Kuga felt like he didn't need to be self serious around Haru. He could actually just be himself: Kuga Sakamata, just another person who happened to have a quirk that made him look like an orca.
“How about you?" Kuga said, finding his mood lightening up. He was idle for a bit as he was waiting for the pot of water they had going to boil.
Haru was at the table, hands busy with a knife as he was chopping away at the vegetables that they were going to use for the evening. “I'm alright. Hero work is never easy, though I'm sure you don't need me to elaborate on that." He then moved the cut bitter gourd to the side and began working on the next piece of vegetable: a squash.
“You know, there's always a spot for you back at the agency," Kuga said. He reached over and grabbed the cut pieces of food and began putting them into the boiling pot. The ingredients soaked up the water and began to bubble. Kuga grabbed the lid and placed it on top.
“Are the new recruits that bad?" Haru teased.
“They're not," Kuga answered. “But they definitely could learn a thing or two from someone like you." He then thought for a moment before continuing, saying, “You know, it was never the same after you left."
“Don't tell me you got soft," Haru remarked. “Maybe I should go back and kick your ass into high gear again. Hearing you talk like this is a bit weird."
“What can I say, I can be open with you," Kuga replied back.
The statement hung in the air as the two finished up in the kitchen. The meal was eventually cooked and a few moments later, they were having a hearty dinner. The TV was on in the background and it showcased the evening news, relaying what just happened hours prior. Due to the nature of their operation, the apprehension of Azakai wasn't shown at all. However, that didn't stop the two from talking about it.
“So I get dibs on turning Azakai in?" Haru asked, looking at Kuga who wiped his mouth with a tissue paper. That was the whole reason they had this dinner in the first place. It was a way for the two of them to discuss who was going to get the credit for turning Azakai in. While there wasn't any immediate monetary gain to be received, the reputation would be a boost to whoever gets it. Kuga was fine discussing this matter as this was important, he personally wanted to just catch up with Haru.
The orca let out a sigh. “Fine." It wasn't like he had a leg to stand on anyway. The law was perfectly clear on matters such as this. Because of the booming population of people trying to be heroes, rules had to be established. One such rule applied to their current situation. Whoever took down the criminal would be the one to officially get the credit. “I suppose it's only fair that you get the credit. You did work hard for it. I'll be sure to give a call to the local precinct to get that in order."
“Thanks," Haru responded.
Kuga then looked at him. “I meant what I said by the way." Haru's brow rose, prompting Kuga to continue. “You can still go back to the agency if you want. I can easily slot you in. I understand how difficult freelance can be. Without having the support of an agency, getting your own gear and managing your own paperwork must be a nightmare."
“Oh, it is," Haru answered. “I've probably spent more hours signing papers on a desk than I did patrolling outside. Having to arrange meetings so I can get the supplies I need is also a pain in the ass, not to mention some of them not even knowing who I am." He shook his head. Haru would prefer not to think about the endless talking he had to do to get these supply orders in line.
“Are you not using me as a reference?"
Haru was quiet for a bit. “I'd rather not ride on your success, Kuga."
Kuga was thrown a bit for a loop. It wasn't a secret for sidekicks to use the name of the agencies they worked for previously as references to help them get better jobs in other places. That was common practice. If anything, that was to be expected. He found himself curious as to what was going on with Haru. “Can I ask you something?"
“Are you going to ask me to help clean up the dishes too?" Haru teased.
Kuga blinked. “Uh, yes, actually," he responded. “Though we can do that later." He then propped one of his hands on the table and leaned on it. “Why did you leave?"
Haru knew what Kuga was asking about but decided to play dumb anyways. “Leave what?"
“The agency."
“I've told you already: I wanted to explore other opportunities."
Kuga looked at his friend seriously. He was trying to get a read on Haru. He tried to remember the past instances of them working together and how well they got along. Him leaving felt odd in hindsight. Kuga had worked with a lot of sidekicks in his time being a hero. Most that leave with the desire to become bigger showed it as they wore in their sleeves as plain as day. These sidekicks were the type to show off, the type who wanted to be the star and wanted to be the leader and not the one following orders. Haru was anything but that. He always had Kuga's back and that was something Kuga was grateful for. Whenever something was wrong, he was always there to support him. Kuga figured that Haru wasn't the type to strike out on his own. If anything, he felt like Kuga was very much content with being at his agency.
Then a thought entered Kuga's mind.
“If you dislike or hate me, that's fine. Though, I'd rather you be upfront with me about it."
The statement was something Haru was clearly not expecting as his expression clearly showed it. “Hate you?" Haru responded, saying the word as if it was poison that he didn't want to be anywhere near. “I don't hate you, Kuga," he answered. His eyes then looked away, seemingly finding the wall near the kitchen to be curious. “I don't hate you," he repeated, except this time much lower, his voice cutting off as if he was trying to stop himself from saying more."
“Then why did you really leave?" Kuga asked once more. “I thought you were happy at the agency."
“I was!" Kuga replied. “I really was! Working with your agency was the best decision I've ever made in my entire life. And leaving it by far felt like the worst decision I've ever made."
“Then why did you go?"
Haru was quiet then. The silence hung in the air like a cloud of gloom. Neither talked for a few moments with Kuga feeling content to just let the question stay up there. He could see Haru visibly thinking, like he was mentally debating about something. Thoughts began to well up inside Kuga. What if it was something serious? The question was innocent yet had a very interesting line of thinking. Maybe Haru left not because he wanted to but because he was forced to. Hero work was one of the most dangerous occupations there was given that the people they fought against weren't restricted with rules and regulations. Criminals were willing to do all sorts of illegal things to try and get whatever they wanted. Murder, kidnap, and even blackmail were all on the table. The idea of criminals getting to sidekicks to try and take down a top hero wasn't a far fetched thought.
Was Haru involved in something serious and he had to take himself out to keep Kuga safe?
Haru let out a long winded sigh, looking mentally defeated as if whatever debate he had with himself left him utterly exhausted. “I…had to leave."
Kuga opted to stay quiet to let Haru continue.
“Let me be clear: I never hated you, Kuga. I always admired you." Haru looked at him seriously and smiled. “Your work ethic, what you stand for, and how you work is something I've always been drawn to. I've always looked up to you and thought so highly of you that well…" His voice trailed and Kuga could see that Haru was looking like he was trying to choose the right words. “I was worried that…how I felt would get in the way of working for you."
Now it was Kuga's turn to be caught off guard. “Wait, you're not in trouble?"
“What? What are you talking about?"
“I was thinking that you left because someone was blackmailing you to get to me."
Haru blinked. Then shook his head and threw caution to the wind. “No, you big oaf! I like you! That's why I left!" he said, speaking out loud. His heart beat in his chest and he could feel his cheeks heat up in confessing his feelings wholeheartedly. “I…I couldn't focus on being a good hero because I always worried whenever we did operations that you would get hurt or worse! So…I did what I could and left."
Kuga was stunned. This was not the revelation he was thinking of. This was something else entirely.
“So you're not getting blackmailed?" Kuga blurted out after a few minutes of silence.
Haru looked at him incredulously before breaking into a fit of laughter. It took a moment for him to regain his composure. “No, Kuga, I am not getting blackmailed. I am perfectly fine," he eventually answered.
“Oh thank goodness," Kuga responded, looking very relieved.
The adrenaline began to wane and Haru was beginning to question if what he did was a good idea. “Listen, I should probably go. I have…said too much."
“It's fine," Kuga said, stopping him. “For what it's worth, I would not have made it awkward." Kuga was a lot of things and while he had his misses they were few and far in between. Looking back, it now began to make sense and click into place. During the lead up to the months that eventually ended with Haru resigning from his post, the man began to drift off. Their pleasant conversations faded from view and Kuga saw Haru less and less. Their interactions were limited and it felt like Haru was purposefully avoiding him. The times where they did interact, Haru kept it professional, often only talking about the operation at hand and nothing else. His bright spunky self was seemingly kept at bay. His behavior finally had a reason for it.
Haru sighed. “I shouldn't have said anything. Letting my personal feelings interfere with my work is never a good thing. You don't need me muddling your hero work and agency to pieces with my feelings."
Before Haru could continue moping however, Kuga stopped him. The man reached out to hold Haru's hands, catching Haru by surprise. “I meant what I said, Haru. You were an integral part of my team. Your quirk was a perfect fit for how we did things and I can't imagine anyone else filling that role." Kuga could feel Haru's hand shaking in his and Kuga did his best to try and calm the man down. “You should have told me sooner," Kuga said looking at Haru. “Because at least then, we could have worked something out and you didn't have to leave." It was at this point that Kuga stood up and walked over to the nearby couch. He then patted the empty space next to it, motioning for Haru to come and join him. Haru nodded, following after him.
“I suppose since you're being honest with me, I should be honest with you as well," Kuga began. “I could tell. You're not the first sidekick who has developed a crush on me." Then to Haru's surprise, Kuga then continued, saying, “I actually wanted to talk to you about it."
“Y-you did?" Haru asked out loud, surprised at hearing this. He had known all this time? Haru was taken for a loop. The times they were together, Kuga didn't act any different. He was the same person that Haru liked him for. It would seem that Kuga was also just as good at keeping things secret.
“I did." Kuga's expression then soured for a bit. “But you left before I could say anything. I wanted to try and reconnect with you but finding you afterwards was more of a challenge than I first thought." The orca then paused for a bit before looking away. “I missed you, you know. It was never the same after you left. Your company was something I never knew I needed. You were stubborn, you had this fiery spirit that was unmatched." He smiled at Haru. “I liked you because you were never afraid to speak up or voice your opinion. You always kept me in check and it made me become a better leader. Most importantly, you treated me like an equal. Most sidekicks I put on the team are too afraid of me to say anything." Kuga paused, then looked at Haru. “I suppose we both have things to admit to each other."
Haru was too stunned to speak. Kuga actually liked him back. It was a bit of an odd feeling to think about. For all this time, he figured that Kuga never really thought of him that way. He was even worried that admitting his feelings to the man would make Kuga actively dislike him. This was a turn of events that he was not expecting. His heart beat in his chest and he could feel the heat on his cheeks. Haru wanted to speak; to say something! Anything! To at least respond to what Kuga was saying to him. But he found his throat to dry and his mind unable to form the right words. His body acted for him instead.
Kuga was shocked to find Haru pressing his lips to his. It was quick, lasting only for a short second or so, but for the two of them, it felt like an eternity. Nothing mattered at that particular moment. It was just the two of them in the room together, expressing their feelings to one another. Haru eventually pulled back, cheeks flushed a crimson red and his heart beating faster than any other moment in time. He had been in life threatening situations before and none of them were as stressful as the one he was currently in. Neither of them spoke, seemingly afraid that saying something would break the moment they both shared with each other. Instead they stared, looking at each other's eyes as if having an unspoken conversation with each other. A few short seconds passed before it was Kuga this time who leaned forward and kissed Haru. This time it was more deliberate instead of accidental. Kuga took his time pressing his lips to Haru's. He could sense Haru momentarily pull back before slowly pushing inwards. Eyes closed and fully in it, their tongues danced with one another as their mouths parted to give each other the ample space needed. It was hot and it was heavy and Haru felt that it was difficult to breathe due to the sheer excitement of everything. Their hands explored each other, with Haru pulling Kuga closer to him. They eventually broke, a line of spittle momentarily connecting them together before breaking apart. It was Kuga who first spoke, his breathing heavy and clearly excited from what just occurred.
“Do you think we can work something out?" he asked out loud.
“Oh shut up and keep kissing me," Haru said. The only thing on his mind was having this moment to share with Kuga. The two then continued their actions, this time with more gusto and less inhibition. They were here to enjoy each other's company. Hands began to roam all over and they broke apart just so they could begin to undress. The heat of the moment was too much to bear and they wanted to be more comfortable. Haru unzipped his tech suit, easily slipping out of it. He stood in front of Kuga with nothing but his boxers, his lower half already standing at full attention. Kuga struggled to undress which Haru could see because his fingers were shaking. The man opted to help, both as an excuse to speed things along and to get even closer to Kuga. It didn't take long for Kuga to be bare chested and Haru used this moment to just bury his face into his chest. He mumbled something incoherent that was muffled by virtue of his face buried deep in the man's pectorals.
Kuga found this both extremely amusing and arousing. “You need to speak up," he said, gently tapping Haru on the back of his head.
“I said, you have no idea how much I've longed for this," Haru replied, pulling himself away enough to be able to speak clearly. He rested his head on Kuga's soft yet firm pectorals. It was like laying his head on a feathery pillow. There wasn't anything like it in the world and if it were up to Haru, he'd happily lay there until he fell asleep. However, there were other pressing matters to attend to. Without skipping a beat, he then moved around, planting kisses on Kuga's chest.
Kuga for his part laid back and let Haru explore. He wasn't one to ruin someone else's fun. Haru continued his actions, briefly sticking his tongue to flick at Kuga's stiff nipples. The man groaned, feeling a sense of pleasure emanate throughout his body. Haru continued going lower and lower, going through the trail of muscle that was Kuga's abs. The man worshiped the orca for the god that he was. The amount of strength that laid underneath those well toned muscles was unprecedented. Kuga wasn't a slacker. He worked out everyday and it showed. It was a moment or so later when Haru stopped and paused, his eyes growing to the size of dinner plates upon seeing the outline of a bulge displayed prominently on the man's crotch. Kuga smirked, feeling his pride swell and his ego stroked at the sight. “Is this a good enough reason to convince you to go back to the agency?"
Haru's eyes met with his and the two shared a light laugh. “You're more than enough of a reason for me to go back. But this…" Haru's hands lightly fondled the bulge through the fabric of Kuga's pants that were desperately trying to keep it in check. “This is definitely a bonus for me."
“Are you sure you want to do this?" Kuga asked. Then his expression turned serious. “Once you unleash that thing, I'm going to want it taken care of."
Haru was slightly taken aback. Throughout this entire time, Kuga had been well reserved and well mannered. But the sudden shift in his voice, going from gentle to something more dominating, was something he wasn't expecting. And it sent a shiver down his spine. He felt his own cock throb at the prospect and his ass quake ever so slightly at the thought of the monstrous bulge piercing him. “Of course," he managed to say, desperately trying not to trip over his own words. “You're more than enough for me."
Kuga smirked. “We'll see."
Haru then braved himself. His lust fueling him and his desire for the man in front of him pushing him forward, he began to unwrap the present in front of him. It took a bit of finesse and coordination between the two but eventually he was able to pull down Kuga's pants along with the bright blue briefs the man wore. What Haru saw caught him by surprise. Whether it was because of Kuga's quirk or the fact that he was naturally gifted, Haru wasn't sure. What he was sure of was that Kuga was packing quite a shaft between his legs. Kuga's cock was as thick as Haru's arm and probably reached all the way to Kuga's knees. It was a mystery to Haru how the man was able to keep this beast contained in his pants, let alone handle it if he ever got an involuntary erection. Maybe that was the reason why Kuga was so focused all the time. He couldn't risk getting a dirty thought to pass into his head lest he was going to have an emergency on his hands that needed to be handled delicately. As if sensing his presence, the meaty shaft throbbed. Despite its hefty size and length, it was standing up fully, pointed straight at Haru whose eyes were solely focused on the cock head, almost giving him a sense of tunnel vision. There was a brief moment of hesitation in Haru's eyes. Could he take such a thing? Would he even survive?
As if hearing the question out loud, Kuga momentarily scratched the back of his head. “It's hard trying to find partners due to work demands and well…having this thing swinging between my legs."
Haru looked at him and the questions disappeared just as they came. “You're perfect," he answered. He then leaned forward, tentatively sticking his tongue out to get a taste of the man's hung cock. Haru rolled his tongue around, starting at the enlarged tip. He was rewarded with a drop of pre that tasted sweet yet a hint of bitterness to it. It was something he soon began to crave as he worked on the length of the man's cock in front of him. It was a herculean task, but something he was definitely up for. Going from the tip, he went down the long length, spinning his tongue around it in circles that rewarded him with Kuga groaning. His grip on the couch tightened slightly and the whites on his knuckles showed. Haru's prehensile tongue eventually reached the base. Due to Kuga's quirk of orcinus, he did not have balls. They were internal. But that didn't mean the base of his cock was any less sensitive or less erogenous. Haru pressed his face on the base of the man's crotch, the masculine scent entering into his nostrils.
Kuga smiled, gently placing a hand on the back of Haru's head and pulling the man closer to him. He wanted Haru to really get a good whiff of him. “How's that?" he asked. “How's the smell of a true man for you?"
Haru didn't reply, or rather couldn't, as his face was pressed closely onto Kuga's crotch. The strong scent made Haru's head swim and spin in opposite directions. Kuga leaned back, letting Haru practically have his way with him. Kuga felt his cock throb as Haru began to pull back, retracing his steps backward as he traveled from the base of Kuga's cock back to the tip.
Without much prompting, Haru took a deep breath and then went for it. He opened his mouth and began to suck on the stiff pole in front of him. It spread his mouth wide open. It was like trying to stuff two large donuts in your mouth and then swallowing without chewing. It made his cheeks puffer outwards, the meaty flesh needing all the space it can to accommodate its large breadth. Haru pushed forward however, his face turning red from the effort he was exerting. Kuga's cock knocked at the back of his throat, threatening to trigger his own gag reflex. Haru for his part persevered. He steadied himself, taking a moment to regain his composure before continuing. One, two, then three, he made continuous progress in taking down Kuga's gigantic cock. Haru's throat screamed at him to stop. Whatever he was doing set his throat ablaze. His lungs struggled to breath as the sheer large size blocked any air from getting by. Haru opened his eyes. He knew for sure he was halfway by this point but was shocked to find that he was only a few inches shy from the tip. This was something he definitely wasn't going to accomplish in one sitting.
“Tsk, tsk," Kuga said, looking at Haru. He found the man's effort to take him adorable. “It's cute that you are trying," he cooed. He reached outwards and placed a loving hand on Haru's cheeks. Haru pulled back, hacking and coughing as his lungs tried to refill themselves once more with air. Kuga was kind enough to give him a second or two, letting the man regain his composure. It was a moment or so later when Kuga finally spoke up. “No one's been successful in trying to take me in their first try. Though I do like your enthusiasm," he said.
Haru huffed, feeling annoyed that he wasn't able to pass the challenge.
Kuga then patted the free space next to him on the couch, prompting Haru to get onto it. “Lay on your back," Kuga said. “I want to return the favor." Haru was a bit confused at what Kuga was trying to do but followed the man's orders. In a few moments, he was laying on his back, moaning away as his legs went above his head. Kuga was making out with Haru's backside, the man's prehensile tongue attacking the hole relentlessly. His tongue started off slow and gentle at first, circling the winking hole like a predator circling its prey. Then he continued, pushing forward and spreading Haru wide apart. It made Haru cry out in both pleasure and excitement, the sensation something he had not felt in quite a long while.
“Fuck," Haru shouted. “I didn't know you like eating ass this much."
“I don't," Kuga answered firmly. “Yours is the only one I seem to crave." He stuck his tongue out and teasingly trailed it along Haru's outer ring. It made Haru reel back shyly, a notion that Kuga found quite adorable. It didn't take long until Kuga's tongue was buried deep inside Haru. Kuga needed to do this as he knew that despite Haru's enthusiasm, that wasn't enough to fully take him. His cock was throbbing and while he desperately wanted to fuck, he didn't want to hurt Haru. The analingus lasted for a short bit before Kuga pulled back. Haru's ass was a sloppy mess, slick with Kuga's tongue. Kuga wasn't sure if this was enough so he decided to throw caution to the wind. “I don't suppose you have lubrication?" he asked out loud.
“Actually, I do," Haru responded, smiling cheekily at him. Then, as if to answer the questioning look Kuga threw at him, Haru answered, saying, “Hey, I just keep them on hand. Being able to fold things away gives me the ability to bring everything I need with me."
“And lube is one of them?"
“Yes."
Haru reached for his pants that were laying next to the floor. He pulled out a piece of folded paper and unfolded it. To both of their surprise however, instead of a bottle of lubrication, an extremely large and hefty sex toy fell out, landing on Haru's lap with an uncharacteristic thud. The silicone was colored black and curiously shaped the same way as Kuga's cock. Kuga was confused as he was intrigued. Haru was embarrassed. He quickly folded it away, throwing the piece of paper back to the pants. “You didn't see anything," he said, looking away.
“Do I want to know?" Though, Kuga had an inkling as to what was going on. He remembered that one time a company approached him for a sex toy deal. Apparently there was a market interested for sex toys molded after popular heroes. He thought it was a joke but did it nonetheless since he needed the money at the time.
“I'll tell you some other time," Haru replied. He then reached for another piece of folded paper and unfolded it. This time a bottle of lube dropped out. “There we go," he said.
Kuga reached out for it and began to apply it on his cock as well as Haru's backside. The liquid felt cool on his skin and gave him a slight tingling sensation. Haru for his sake let out a groan as Kuga's fingers reached into his ass and slowly spread them open. The lubrication worked however as it allowed the orca's fingers to slip in and out a lot easier than before compared to when they were just using spit. Kuga reached for his cock and aligned it into Haru's waiting ass. He then slowly moved his hips, knocking on the man's hole like an excited neighbor. Haru braced himself when Kuga inserted. The first thing he realized was just how big Kuga actually was. Seeing his size was one thing. Feeling it was another entirely. It spread him in half and then some. His ass quaked and he could feel pain tingle from his backside. And this was just the tip! Haru bit his lips, muffling a mixed cry of both pleasure and pain. Kuga did his best to be patient but Haru was gripping him as if his life depended on it. Moving in either direction made him grind his cock on the man's insides. But he kept going nonetheless. He pushed further, slowly but surely inches of his cock disappearing into Haru's ass.
Whether it was his inner size queen coming out, or whether it was the heat of the moment, Haru wasn't sure. But he began to run his mouth. “Is that…the best you can do?" he asked, looking at Kuga seriously. He wasn't sure why he wanted to tease the orca with the big fat cock that was in the process of tearing his ass apart, but there was something exhilarating about doing it and he couldn't stop himself from doing so.
Kuga looked at him as if he was crazy. He wondered if this was some sort of joke. He was trying to be gentle for Haru's sake but if he wanted him to go deeper, he was more than happy to oblige. “Oh, you want to see me at my best?"
Haru nodded. “Fuck me."
“You sure?"
“Did I stutter?"
Kuga obliged by pushing inwards. Haru's eyes started to water and his body shivered right then and there. The pain at this point began to numb. He couldn't feel his legs, no, he couldn't feel the entirety of his lower half anymore. He wasn't even sure if he was going to be able to walk after this.
“What's the matter?" Kuga said, breathing heavily. “You can't take my full size?"
Haru wanted to say something back but found it difficult to do so. It took everything in his power to just focus on what was happening in his ass. It felt like someone was shoving a thick tree trunk up there, and it was only getting bigger and bigger. Haru took deep breaths and opted to just smile back. This smile however wavered as it morphed into a groan. Kuga's cock just throbbed inside of him. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!" The sensation of being filled was unlike anything he had ever felt before. Not even his toys could give him this feeling. He wanted more. Kuga continued pushing inwards, minding his best to be careful not to hurt Haru but still obliging his requests. He got about halfway when he momentarily had to pause to let Haru catch his breath. Kuga wasn't even sure how his cock was burying itself this deep into Haru, but it was happening nonetheless. There was a bulge forming at the bottom of Haru's abdomen, and becoming more prominent as he kept pushing further.
To both of their surprise, he was able to hilt fully.
“Fuck, you are tight," Kuga said through gritted teeth. The sensations on his cock were intense. He could feel it throbbing deep inside Haru and he knew it wasn't going to take long for him to blow his load. Haru was unable to reply, at this point his eyes started to glaze over and a moan just escaped from his mouth, muttering incoherent babble. It was hard to think with all that cock inside of him.
Kuga then started fucking him properly.
It was difficult to stay conscious throughout those moments for Haru. It was like someone relentlessly stabbed him over and over except instead of feeling pain, it was a mixture of that, along with pleasure and a sensation of someone taking something out of you and putting it back again repeatedly. Each thrust Kuga did made him see stars. The moments where his vision cleared enough for him to see what was happening, all he could see was Kuga leaning above him, teeth snarled into a toothy grin, with his arms placed on either side of Haru's head. The man was happily moving his hips back and forth, the lubrication thankfully making it easier and easier as time went on. The sound of skin slapping against skin echoed across the room and the couch they were on skidded ever so slightly with each movement. The neighbors next door momentarily wondered if there was an earthquake happening.
But to the two people in the room, they were having the time of their life.
Haru felt that he was reaching his limit. His breathing picked up and his cock throbbed maddeningly. A stream of pre was leaking from his cock and he felt like he was going to blow at any moment. Kuga picked up on this and decided to amp it up. To Haru's surprise, Kuga pulled out. Haru was left with feeling something large was missing inside of him. That was when Kuga placed his cock next to Haru's and gently rubbed them together. Enough for stimulation but never quite enough for Haru for him to tip over.
“What the fuck are you doing?" Haru asked through bated breath. His cheeks were a crimson red and he could feel his excitement wavering ever so slightly. “I was close, you asshole."
“I was thinking of maybe not letting you cum," Kuga said, looking at him with a mischievous smile. “I figured it was a way for me to get back at you for leaving the agency."
Haru's eyes flashed emotion. “What?! Fuck you, Kuga!" Haru struggled, thrusting his hips upwards to effectively grind against Kuga's own throbbing cock. But the man was one step ahead of him. Kuga placed his large tail on Haru's thighs and pressed down. Whatever force Haru could muster was effectively nullified. Haru couldn't move despite struggling with all his might. Kuga was far too large and far too heavy for him to try and push off. “Fuck…" he said, feeling cornered.
Kuga then had his way with Haru, gently grinding his cock against Haru's and bringing him ever so close to his limit before stopping just mere inches away from it. This went on for a couple rounds, enough for Haru to effectively begin questioning his sanity. “Fuck you, Kuga…" Haru said, his tone changing from someone spiteful to someone begging. “Fuck…please let me cum."
Kuga grinned. Seeing Haru beg was something he never knew he needed in his life. “What was that?" he teasingly asked. “I didn't quite hear you."
“Please let me cum, Kuga. I can't take it anymore."
The orca grinned. Clearly having enough of his fun, he aligned himself once more and filled Haru back up with his thick cock. He easily slid into the now used ass and Haru felt like he was whole again. Being edged for so long, Haru exploded soon after. He came unceremoniously, his stiff throbbing cock emptying the majority of its content on his chest. It was slick, wet, and the orgasm made his ass clamp down even harder on Kuga's cock. This only served to make the orca fuck him even harder as he as well was reaching the end of his limits.
Kuga leaned down and looked at Haru seriously. “I'm going to cum and you will not spill one drop, got it?"
Whether it was the tone, or just the dominating nature, Haru wasn't sure. Just that Kuga's order sent a shiver down his spine. He loved the idea that the orca was taking control of the situation. Even amidst the highs of just ejaculating seconds earlier, there was no greater pleasure than hearing Kuga say that directly to him.
When Kuga ejaculated, it was like a volcano erupted. Haru thought for sure he was going to get launched off Kuga's cock and sent flying to the wall just from the sheer power behind it. Kuga's cock throbbed inside of him, soon followed by ropes upon ropes of white hot seed spilling into his guts and filling every crevice possible. One after the other they continued and it seemed to only get stronger as Kuga's orgasm continued. It didn't feel like it would end. The sheer excess of it spilled outwards, making a mess on the couch and some if even dripping down the floor. Kuga was breathing heavily and was groaning with great effort. It was like he just got finished beating a super villain and was on the brink of collapsing due to exhaustion.
By the end of it, Haru swore he felt bloated as his stomach swole slightly from all the cum sloshing inside of him. Kuga for his part collapsed on top of him and both parties just decided to lay there for a bit to relax and regain their composure. Neither spoke as none was needed. They just felt content to be in each other's arms and hold each other tight. It was eventually Haru who spoke up. “Maybe…maybe once we deal with Azakai…I can file some paperwork and fill in a spot in your agency."
Kuga looked at him before letting out a hearty chuckle. “I wouldn't have it any other way. I'll be sure to have him be sent off to Tartarus first thing in the morning."
“Good, good…" Haru responded. “Though, I hope you don't mind if the paperwork gets delayed a little."
Kuga's brow rose. “Why's that?"
“I don't think I can feel my legs."
Kuga shook his head and just planted a kiss on Haru's cheeks.
All was well.
