#1 of Coded Fantasia

Xavier Drake, a being not of this new world suddenly awakens after this new body of his slept for who knows how long.

Now he has to navigate his way through this new reality of his in order to live a fulfilling life.

An isekai-themed story that popped in my head a while ago after reading some works made by a couple of my favorite writers.

Not my first isekai story to write, but the first to share with the public. Hope y'all enjoy~!

"Where... am I...?" He asked as he drifted deep underwater, somewhere between slumber and consciousness. "Who... am I...?" He tried to move his hands to his face, only to find out that he didn't have any, didn't have any limbs or an actual body for that fact. "So cold, yet so warm..." It was a strange sensation, feeling temperature when he didn't have a body to feel with.

Suddenly, he began drifting up towards the light. "Ah... is it time to wake up?" Again, he asked no one in particular, as he drifted further and further up...

*GAAAASSSPPP* He took a deep breath as he resurfaced, letting out a series of coughs as his lungs were finally taking in some fresh air, although it felt a bit damp and dense in his mouth. He grabbed the edge of the strange machine he was in, a pod of sorts, and slowly lifted himself up, his arms gave out a couple of times making him fall back down, but he eventually regained his balance and got out.

"Where...?" He asked in a whisper as he walked away from the strange machine, his legs a bit shaky as he took small steps. The place looked like some form of facility... a laboratory, perhaps? He began wandering aimlessly, eventually leaving the chamber he was in, noticing the broken windows in front him and the night sky beyond them, the soothing light of the moon being the only thing illuminating the hallway he was in.

Standing in front under the moonlight, he closed his eyes and spread his arms, taking in a deep breath, basking under the cool, beautiful light of the moon, but when he opened his eyes, his vision changed. "What the?" In his right eye he began seeing statistics, numbers, and measurements, while in the left eye he began seeing strange lights prancing and floating around, as well as trail of colors snaking around the air. "What- GAAAHGG!!" Both visions suddenly clashed together in a pretty violent manner, causing immense pain in his head, statics of blurry visions flowing through his head, memories that are his yet aren't at the same time flooded his mind. He had to close his eyes shut, but the pain took a while to subside.

Once the pain went away, he slowly opened his eyes... and let out a sigh of relief once he realized that his vision was back to normal, but at that moment something else clicked. "I'm... nnghh... Xavier Drake... I'm not... of this world..." He looked down both sides of the hallway. "I was born here... many years ago... But from who? For what?" He began walking down the hallway as he spoke, one arm crossed under his chest while the other held his chin in thought, finally taking notice of his long, lupine muzzle. "Wait... I'm a wolf?" The moment he asked that he looked down at a shard of glass, seeing his lupine features, as well as his eyes, the right one being amber-orange in color while the other was cyan-blue. "Strange..."

Despite the wolfen features, including the tail, he also noticed that the rest of his body was human, athletic, buff, and pretty well-built human at that, his black, salt-and-pepper hair was slightly shaggy and damp from the pod's fluids earlier, but he couldn't be sure the color of his body in such a dim light, but he was sure it wasn't one that belonged to a normal human. He also noticed a faintly glowing tattoo just above his right hip, but couldn't make out the design from this angle.

"HEY!!" He quickly turned around to see a middle-aged human in military camos, a dark brown tank top, and a bandana around his head, slowly walking towards him with a strange-looking rifle in his hand. "I found someone!" The human called again, just as two others rounded the corner, one is a hyena of sorts, while the other was an orc, both dressed in a similar manner to the human, but the hyena had his bandana around his bicep while the orc had his around his neck.

"What do we have here?" The orc asked in a suggestive tone. "You reckon this one will fetch a good price?" He and the other two came closer, inspecting Xavier's body from a distance like a piece of meat on the market. Something he took great offense to but remained silent regardless.

"Sure looks like it." The hyena added as he licked his chomps. "That bod alone is quite the looker, but those exotic eyes will be a great bonus to some collector."

"We should be careful. I'm getting some bad vibes out of this one." The human warned, clearly the only voice of reason out of the trio.

"What for? Man is unarmed and totally naked." The hyena's eyes glinted with ominous excitement.

"Sure saves us the trouble." The orc pulled out a rod-like device with a pronged from his belt, tugging on either side of the rod caused it to split into smaller segments, connected to one another by some form of energy tether while the prongs cracked with electricity like a taser. "Come along now pup, before your new masters get impatient."

Xavier's left eye twitched as he looked at them, murderous intent silently burning in his eyes. "You? My masters?"

"Yeah. What, you need me to repea- HGGMMFFF!" The orc didn't get to finish his sentence before he felt a powerful hand grasping his face tightly.

The hyena was too slow to react, Xavier simply shoving him away with his left arm using the most minimal of effort, yet it was still enough to send the man flying all the way back to the far wall while his right hand kept a tight grip on the orc's face. "A bunch of inbred mongrels like you? My masters?" His tone was dripping with venom as he spoke, his grip tightening even more, he could swear he heard a small crack. "Know your fucking place." With that, his right arm began glowing with circuit-like markings with the same color as his eyes before releasing a powerful discharge of electrical energy, the orc screaming at the top of his lungs as his body was being torn apart from the inside out. By the time Xavier was done, the orc's body was black as ash, limp and lifeless as he dropped it on the floor.

"What the fuck are you!?" The human screamed as he aimed his rifle at the wolf, Xavier turning to him as he began slowly walking his way toward him. "Stay back!" His warning fell on deaf ears. "MOTHERFUCKER!!!" He let out a war cry as he began unloading his entire magazine at the wolf, shooting laser bullets.

Xavier's left arm began glowing with mystic markings and runes as he lifted it up in front of him, a mystic barrier appearing in front of him that stopped each and every bullet in its tracks, balls of energy floating in the air. When the rifle stopped firing, the human began fumbling with what looked like a canister or battery to replace the empty one in the rifle. "Pathetic." Was all Xavier said before doing a simple flick of his hand, sending all the collected projectiles right at the human, each one burning a hole in his body, killing him instantly.

The hyena was hiding around the corner after witnessing all of that. "Fuck this, this is not worth the fucking money." He growled to himself as he began slowly crawling away, only for his head to bump against something, slowly looking up, he saw the wolf standing there, his humanoid cock inches from his face, hands on his hips, and a very angry look on his face. "Please... mercy..."

"Like you showed all of those poor people you dragged into slavery?" The hyena made a small sound of shock. "Yes, I can see it all through your eyes. Every vile thing you did in their 'training'. Making sure they're the perfect pieces of 'merch'?"

"Please, I beg you!" The slaver clasped his hands together as he groveled on his knees. "I was only doing what I was told!"

"Hmm... well, not like I could condemn you for that, even if I wanted. I would probably do some similar things to anyone acting against my instructions."

"See, we understand each other, yes?" Xavier's glare wasn't the answer, nor reaction, he hoped for. "No?"

"You'll have your uses later. But for now..." Xavier held his hand with the palm open inches from the hyena's face. "Shut up and go to sleep." His palm emitted a soft glow, the hyena dropping to the ground in a deep sleep a second later. "That deals with that." He looked outside the window. "What to do now?"

The next morning, Xavier was sitting on one of the chairs of what looked like a cafeteria, wearing some camo-patterned pants, arms crossed under his chest and one leg over the other, eyes closed in thought... "How long are you gonna stay in my head?" He asked with a tone aimed at someone, but was met with silence for a few seconds...

Until... "Welp, looks like the jig is up." Said a voice in the air. Suddenly there was a small swirl of colorful energy before a miniature creature appeared from thin air. It looked like a furred dragon with pink-ish fur, a deep blue mane, moth-like antlers, and a butterfly's wings, it was also about the size of Xavier's palm. "It usually takes Anomalists longer to notice us."

"Goes to prove that this one is quite special." Said another voice before some energy sparks appeared in the air, another miniature figure materializing from it. This one looks like some sort of android in a butler's outfit, legs are digitigrade and pointed like an arrow's tip instead of normal feet, and large pauldrons on both shoulders, he was about the same size as the tiny dragon. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance, dear master." He said with a regal bow. "I am Cypher and this one is Puck."

"Hi-yeee~" The fairy-like dragon replied with a high-pitched, playful tone.

"What did you just call me?" Xavier asked straightly, not bothering to introduce himself.

"Anomalist." Cypher replied as he floated closer, gracefully landing right on the very tip of Xavier's nose. "In this universe, affiliations are split between those who use and worship magic..." As he said that, he raised one hand as a tiny orb of magic appeared. "And those who use and rever science or cyberum, in your case." He raised the other arm and a sparkling orb of electric-like energy appeared. "It's always one or the other, almost never both."

"Almost?"

"There are a few exceptions to that rule. Those people are what are called Anomalists. Strange beings born in this reality and defy its rules of normalcy." Cypher floated off, going down to poke at Xavier on the place the tattoo appeared last night. "And as I expected, you're an Amalgam Anomalist." Once again, he floated up and conjured a mirror for Xavier to look at.

"Explain." Was the short and simple command, the wolf noticing the mark that appeared on his hip. It looked like a cube with an eye inside of it, as well as two rings of much smaller cubes diagonally orbiting it.

"Anomalists, as I said, are a handful few who can use the powers of both science and magic. But in comparison to those who exclusively use one or the other, Anomalists are weak." Cypher held up a finger. "However, Amalgam Anomalists are different. They can wield the powers of both to their full potential."

Puck was suddenly in Xavier's face. "In simpler terms, they are the closest to being deities with their abilities." Then floated away a short distance. "Some are actually worshipped as gods or revered as divine messengers."

"I see." Xavier looked at both of his hands... then both his arms began glowing like they did last night.

"You already showed great prowess in using both last night, when you dealt with those disgusting ruffians." Puck let out a small huff as he crossed his arms.

"Speaking of: What happened to the last one?" Cypher gently floated towards the wolf, resting on his shoulder.

"Had to test a few things on him early this morning, tossed him out once I was done with him." Xavier's tone was pretty flat and uncaring as he said that.

In the dense forest outside the facility.

"He... hehehe... M-master? Where are you?" The hyena slaver wobbled and swayed left and right as he walked on unsteady legs, completely naked with not a stitch of clothing on his body, a deluded, glazed look on his face, maw hanging open with his tongue dangling out of one side. "Come back! Please!" His ears flicked to one side as he heard a branch snap in the distance. "Master!?"

Instead of his 'master' what came out of the bushes were a pack of creatures that looked like a mix between reptiles and large dogs with small, nub tails. He looked at them for a few seconds before breaking into a wide smile. "Ooohhh~ You boys came for little ol' me? How good that makes me feel~" The beasts kept prowling closer and closer, growling and snarling. "Yes, come closer..." The hyena then spread his arms wide apart and screamed at the top of his lungs. "CLAIM AND USE ME!!" As if on a strange command, the beasts pounced, claws scratching at his violently at his body while their powerful jaws and sharp teeth tore at his body and flesh, all the while with him screaming and laughing at random intervals in a bizarre mix of pain and pleasure.

Meanwhile, back at the facility, Xavier was casually and aimlessly walking around, one arm crossed below his chest while the other was flicking a finger at a holographic screen, going through the blueprints of the facility. Provided to him courtesy of Cypher. "This place is huge... fixing and maintaining it will both take a long ass time and cost a fortune."

"Fortunately for you, you have us." Cypher stated as he floated in front of Xavier's face. "Do excuse me." He then pressed a finger to the wolf's forehead.

Xavier let out a small gasp as many things were practically downloaded into his mind, blueprints for strange devices, machines, and utility items. To him it felt longer, but it only took about a second or so. "The fuck was that?" He shook his head to clear his briefly blurred vision.

"Somethings to get you started. Do give it a try, let's see about fixing the building itself before it crumbles down on us, yes?"

Xavier regarded the miniature android with skepticism, but decided to go along with it, raising his hand that controls his cyber powers, it briefly glowing just as a small portal appeared in front of his palm, a robotic, spider-like creature jumping out. "Whoa!" It didn't pay any of them any attention, simply looked around for a bit... then scuttled over to the most broken place and began fixing it with a mixture of a strange, foam-like substance and lasers until it was good as new, then moved over to the next place, repeating the process. "Huh... fixer bot?"

"More or less, yes." Cypher nodded. "But, this is only a temporary band-aid for the real issue here. No matter how sufficient these little critters are, we need the handiwork of real people to make sure that efficiency stays long-term."

"What did I say earlier about this place costing a fortune to fix?"

"How about acquiring some slaves?" Puck asked casually as he floated down to sit on Xavier's shoulder.

"Bit of a touchy subject to most, don't you think, Puck?" Cypher gently reprimanded, the fairy dragon blowing a raspberry at the android.

"No, Puck's on to something here." Hearing that, Puck gave Cypher a smug look. "Despite what I said to the slaver last night, I'm not against, nor above the idea of enslaving someone to do my bidding. Free labor and total obedience. Exactly what I need right now. Plus, maybe we could get someone to do more than fix the place and whatever machinery it has."

"Like cleaning, cooking, entertainment, and the like?" Cypher asked as he stood on the wolf's other shoulder. He shuddered a bit as he remembered how all the food and drinks in the storage have rotted away years, if not decades ago.

"And sex!" Puck exclaimed suddenly and loudly.

"Hornbug." The android mocked as he crossed his arms.

"Lightbulb." Puck mocked back.

"Sex, huh?" Strangely enough, that sparked a certain fragment of Xavier's old memories, showing that he was... quite the active individual back then. "Strange how I can remember that, yet nothing about who I was or what I did?"

"What would you do with it if you did?" This time Puck asked the question.

"What my friend here means to ask: Would that be efficient for your new life here?" Cypher added.

Xavier took a second to think about it, but then shook his. "No, I suppose it won't. Pretty sure I didn't have such amazing powers back where I'm from." He took a small breath and let it out. "So... how where should I go to?"

"You're in luck, dear master." Cypher floated over to one of the broken windows, pointing outside. In the distance, Xavier could make out what looked like buildings, lots of them. "A bit of a drive away is a city that is pretty well-known for bringing high-quality products and merchandise. Including slaves."

"So you're saying not only can I get the 'hired help' I want, but for the right prices, everything I need to fix this place, huh?" But then a thought occurred to him. "But why in the hell am I so adamant about repairing this facility?"

"It's your home, dear master." Puck stated in a soft tone. "Everyone desires a place to belong, to go back to after a hard day's work or eventful journey, even if they have to work for it."

"Home..." That word triggered another series of old memories, fragments and blurry images of the many places he called home back in his old life... until the very end. "I'm... dead, aren't I? In my old world." It was more of a stated fact rather than a question.

"Unfortunately, yes." Cypher confirmed as he rested on the wolf's crossed arm.

"Welp, going back home would be pointless then." He wasn't feeling sorrowful or anything after that realization. Let's head out before the people there run out of whatever it is we need." His mind was suddenly assaulted with a long list of materials, components, parts, etc, every single thing that they're gonna need to bring this place back to working shape. "Was that bombardment necessary, Cypher?"

"Just making you aware of what we need. And that's only the stuff we can find in that city alone."

"Wait! You can't go out like this!" Puck suddenly piped in with his arms flailing.

"Huh?"

"Here, let me fix you up a bit." Puck made a goofy face with his tongue out as he rubbed his hands together until magic began sparking out of them, right before shooting it at Xavier, the wolf taken aback for a second... but nothing changed.

"And what the hell was that supposed to- *sniff sniff*" He took a curious sniff at himself... "Lavender?"

Puck floated in his place in a proud pose and a smug look on his face. "That's right, I just removed whatever grime that's collected on your body and gave you a nice smell."

"A proper shower would've been more efficient, but guess that's asking too much, what with the place the way it is." Cypher rested on Xavier's head, leaning on one ear. "And just to be useful as well..." Cypher floated over beside Puck and gathered cyberum energy in his hand before also shooting it at Xavier, this time the energy dispersed to cover the wolf's upper body, covering his body in a tight tank top that slightly outlined his impressive build, made out of a soft and thin cloth. "Temporary solution until we find some proper clothes for you."

They walked out of the facility, Xavier stopping briefly to look at it from the outside. "Huh... you know, I didn't get a good look at this place from the outside earlier..." Even from the outside it looked huge, the main building separated from the main road by a fence with small, thick walls underneath, looked like your typical research facility and laboratory. He could also make out some other buildings he didn't see earlier, but knows what they were from the blueprints he got from Cypher.

He held his chin in thought... "Say... you think I could do what you guys just did? With the clothes, cleansing, and everything?"

"You could if you knew the ins and outs of the thing you want to create or recreate as well as what's the thing you want cleansed looked like before when healthy and fresh." Cypher explained... but then the bulb of realization lit up in his head. "I see what you're getting at... with your energy pool, I'm pretty sure doing something like that would be easy. But it'll still take a bit out of you." He floated close to the side of Xavier's head, placing his hand to 'download' the blueprints of the ENTIRE facility right into his mind.

"Hmm... should be easy enough..." He took a few steps back until he was right at the gate... then gathered both magic and cyberum energies in his respective hands... and slammed both of them into the ground, creating a wave of powerful energy that flowed through and over the entire facility. Debris and foliage were cleared in an instant, everything that was broken was fixed in a literal flash of light, metals and objects that were twisted or bent out of shape straightened out like one straightening their back. It took only a minute or so, and the facility, from the outside at least, looked good as new. "Yep... this should do it... But how can we-?" The trio jumped slightly as nearby sprinklers suddenly came to life, spraying clean water over the overgrown grass and bushes. "Guess that answers that."

"Why the hell didn't you do that earlier!?" Puck screamed right in Xavier's face. "Oh! Wait, let me check something out!" He didn't wait for permission before flying away at high speeds back inside.

"There are some things I want to check as well, be right back." And Cypher did the very same thing.

A few seconds later, Puck returned with a defeated look. "Food is still rotten."

"Really now? That's strange." *BEEP BEEP* "What the!?" Just then, a large car with camo paint drove by and skidded to a halt right beside Xavier.

Cypher flew out of the driver's window. "Of course, it's still is. The food is not 'part' of the facility." He pointed at the car that he 'drove' over. "Liks this vehicle. I had to fix this one myself, so you'll have to excuse me if I don't function properly for the rest of the day."

"Hmm... so an object has to be directly connected to a place or mechanism to be fixable in a Restoration Wave.

"Oh? Naming your abilities already?"

Xavier gave him a small shrug. "I was a bit of a geek back then, can't help but be one now as well." Then hopped into the driver's side, with Cypher and Puck following suit and sitting right above the dashboard. "Alright, time to see what this new reality has to offer me." He put the car in 'drive' and pressed the acceleration, driving off towards the city.
