#6 of Lost in your Eyes

Yet another turn in the story is comming, but we won't be seeing many major turns again for a long time. So don't feel like I'm overdoing it, jajaja. I know I said I'd polish the previous parts, but I couldn't wait to make more of the story D:.

Mike dozed off in the arms of his best friend. Well...perhaps boyfriend now? He had to break it off with Max first, but that won't be much longer.

Mike dreamt of that horrible warehouse, laying further inside in the darkness. He felt weak in spirit, mind, and body. He felt alone, and as if all hope had been lost at being happy. He knew not why he felt this way, but the emotions were so strong. He wanted to end his life to escape from this wretched world. But then the opening to the warehouse opened loudly, the silhouette of a fox holding the large metal door open. "Mike..." It was Darty's voice. The world started to fade as Mike closed his eyes, crying. "Save me...please..." mumbled Mike in his weakened state.

Mike awoke to a brightened bathroom, the ceiling fan used for helping with the steam from a shower. He felt like throwing up from the intense heat he was feeling. He wriggled out from Spencer's embrace, panting heavily as he openned the bathroom window. He looked outside at the gently frostcovered grass near the apartment, and the green grass just beyond it. But then it hit him...what happened to the snowstorm...the ice? Was it all a mistake? Had the city cleared the whole mess in just a few hours? It was only six at night on Thursday. Mike reached into his pocket to see if he had a signal again. Sure enough he did, and he had 10 texts waiting for him...all from Mom. He opened the phone and only read one message to know he was in trouble with her.

"Missed 2 days of school, get here right now so we can talk."

He didn't understand what was going on. He knelt down next to Spencer, shaking the sleeping horse. "Spencer, wake up! There's no snow!" Spencer stirred in the bag, looking grimaced as he frantically kicked the sleeping back away. He was covered in sweat and smelled of musk. It was so enticing...but there was no time to fool around now. "Spencer, look outside. The snow is already gone...and I apparently missed another day of school."

Spencer laughed a bit, hiding his frustration with the open window as he went up to close it, but then he saw the unbelievable too. Spencer's jaw dropped, looking dumbfounded for possibly the first time in his life. "But...the...a..." Mike began to laugh. He opened the bathroom door, helping move everything back to where it belonged. "Let's just look online to see what happened. The weather channel must have been nodding off during their forecast."

"That doesn't explain the layers of snow and ice that were just outside a few hours ago, Mike. Something isn't right." The doorbell rang, Mike's ears perking up as he just realized he was nude. "Shit, someone's at the door. Get some pants on!" Mike and Spencer rushed into the bathroom to put on their clothes from last night...still dirty and starting to reek. They hadn't showered for a while either. Spencer walked to the door after getting his pants and shirt on, not bothering with the underwear for now. He opened it to see who it was, only to see Max standing there, patting his foot on the ground and giving Spencer a menacing glare. "Where is he, filth. Where's my pup?"

Mike was hiding in the bathroom, listening in on the confrontation. He didn't want to be caught like this! He cheated on his mate, and he never wanted him to know. He wanted to break it off...he didn't need this, not now. Spencer let out and intimidating grunt, balling his fist and ready to punch the one who hurt his best friend. He rested his rage for now, knowing that everybody deserved a chance to explain. "Why did you hurt him, Max? You knew he didn't like what you did, and you just left him there in misery." Max looked down at the floor, sighing in a sad tone. "Can I come in? It's kind of chilly out here." Spencer allowed the fox to take a seat on the couch, the mighty horse standing tall and glaring down at Max, making sure he was put on the spot. "You better spill it before I kick your ass, kid."

Max could smell Mike in the air, and he could also smell the scent of lust and sperm. He didn't comment on it though. "I admit I made a terrible mistake. Every relationship I've had I began like this...it's a way of asserting dominance. I like to be the alpha, and that's my way of expressing it. I wanted him to forgive me so I can show him I truly care. Call it crazy, but I like it when my mate not only loves me, but fears me. I believe it serves a great purpose in preserving interest in me on all fronts." Max looked up at Spencer, looking angry now. "But even if Mike can't forgive me, which we'll find out soon enough once he leaves the bathroom, I'm not sure either of us will forgive you!"

Mike sighed as he left the bathroom, staring at the floor as he approached the two of them in the living room. He stood by Spencer, looking ashamed to be seen like this. Spencer gave a quick chuckle before he crossed his arms, waiting for the fox to make up something. "This ought to be good...go ahead, Mr. Fernandez."

Max looked up at Mike with a serious expression. "Mike, I missed you at school today. I wanted to make things up to you, but you weren't there. I had a feeling you'd be here, hiding from me. I don't blame you, and I forgive you for what you've done, even though it hurts to know you cheated on me. I admit that I deserve the pain I feel considering what I put you through, and I know I deserve more...but please don't let this be the end. We just started, and maybe we can start over. Please...forgive me." The fox's apology sounded so sincere. Mike's heart fluttered as he saw Max's eyes pleading for forgiveness. Max's smile only sunk Mike into submission more as he reached out his paw. The wolf pulled Max up into a tight embrace, whimpering quietly in joy. "I forgive you, Max...thank you for saying this." Max slowly pushed Mike away, looking over at Spencer who was struck with surprise. "Mike...you can't be serious..." Spencer felt like he was just cheated on now, but he couldn't call it that out loud.

"Spencer, I can't believe how obsessed you are with Mike. You went so far as surrounding your home with ice...and cutting the power to your home? Don't give me that look. I have proof that you set this whole mess up just to keep Mike and I apart." Mike was stunned, not sure what to believe. He wanted to see evidence too, or he'd never believe this. Spencer began to laugh hysterically. This was just too hilarious. Spencer was waiting to watch the fox make a fool of himself in front of Mike. Max walked over to the circuit breaker and opened the hatch. Mike couldn't believe what he saw...

Every circuit breaker in this city had a timer on it where anybody could have the power turned off at certain times in the day, and then have it turned back on later on. It was meant to save electricity bills for when nobody was home. The timer was set to turn the power off at 12;30 p.m. on Thursday...today. Could Spencer really have set this whole thing up? There again was another setting, displaying that the power be returned at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday night. Mike looked over at Spencer who was just behind him, gazing at the timer in confusion. "Spencer...what's going on?"

Spencer was speechless. Max took the opportunity to further convict the horse of his treachery. "It's funny how you said you wanted to end the thing Mike had with Darty so much...I wonder if perhaps you're trying it again." Spencer grinned after hearing the fox give him just the choice of words he could use to destroy his entire arguement. How could Max have known he said that to Mike? He wasn't here, and if he was, he was stalking. There was a possibility Mike would still be sore with him, but Spencer wouldn't allow Max to take Mike's hand. But before the horse could speak, he had the wind knocked out of him, forcing him down to the ground in pain. Mike had punched him in the gut.

"Spencer...you prick! I can't believe you! We're done!" Spencer gasped for air, wanting to beg Mike to wait for him to speak, but it was too late. Mike was walking out the front door with Max, holding paws. Mike didn't realize the incriminating message Max gave yet. He was blinded with emotion and desire for someone to trust, and he desperately wanted to trust Max. He got into the corvette, quite impressed with how cleaned up the inside was from the day before. They were off in a flash, getting as far away from Spencer as they could.

Mike sat there, blankly staring out the window as he processed what was happening and tried to put the pieces together. The eyes of his love lost in death were harbored by the one who raped him on their first date. His best friend had betrayed him after eight years of building his trust. He missed two full days of school, and his mother was waiting for him at home to bitch him out. He was in such a mess...he felt lost.

Max reached over and gently held Mike's paw in his own. "Mike...I know what you're feeling. I know I've hurt you, and I'm sorry. It means a lot to me that you're giving me another chance...if I'm correct in thinking that you gave me one." Mike turned and smiled at Max. Perhaps one thing was going right. "I believe you, Max...but don't ever do that to me again. I'm not a masochist, and I don't want this to be all about sex. This relationship needs to be give and take..." Max smiled and nodded approvingly. "You have my word...I'll be even better than Darty was." Mike felt a little sore from that last message, but he took it in stride. Max still had a lot to learn about being a lover it seemed, but Mike would make sure he was well trained. He felt like Darty was given a second chance at living, and Mike had to reconstruct the loveable fox he lost. He would endure the hardships ahead to bring his love back.

"Oh shit...Max, can you take me home? I need to explain things to my mom..." Mike looked down at the floor not sure what he would tell his mom. Max squeezed his paw gently, recapturing Mike's attention. "Don't worry pup. Let me talk to her with you. I'll take the blame. It's the least I can do to say I'm sorry." Mike grinned, leaning down to kiss Max on his paw. "Thank you..."
