{Grocery shopping with a pair of dinosaurs. And now you know why no one working in cafes drinks the coffee. I'm on to you, baristas. I know you're all dinosaurs.}
J dragged the human backwards, and he slipped out of T. The raptor dropped the human and stood between Charles and the source of the heat scent that filled the apartment.
Charles rose, dick still hard and throbbing, practically nose to nose with a white raptor. The screeched at each other. Charles swiped J’s muzzle with his hand, as if he had claws. J swiped back, using his claws. J was stronger, but Charles barely flinched. He lunged for J, grabbing his neck and wrestling him to the floor.
J rolled them over once.
Twice.
All the while clawing Charles as the human punched and kicked J back.
T watched from the floor, rolling to one side so she could see better. She reached down and rubbed herself at the thought that whoever came out of this would give her wonderful eggs.
Charles pushed away from J and stood up, squaring off. J rolled to his feet and faced him. Both their dicks were staring at one another. Charles was snarling at him. J returned the gesture.
They circled, posturing. T rubbed herself faster, watching their muscles move. She hadn’t noticed before how strong Charles looked when every muscle was tensed and on display. J was making a big show of his lean definition. He didn’t need to tense his body this much, but males did it anyway because they knew how it looked. T wanted to tell Charles to quit his job so he could do this in front of her all day and night.
They met. Charles went down, and J stood on top of him, poking his foot claw into his stomach, not enough to break the skin but enough to show this could be a killing strike.
J moved off. Charles stayed down. T just noticed he was bleeding, and as soon as she saw it, she looked at J and reached out to him.
The other raptor moved over her and immediately dropped onto her, shoving his dick all the way into her in one motion. It was almost too much and T couldn’t breathe.
J fucked her hard, never taking his eyes off Charles, who rolled to his feet. Blood was dripping off his back and chest. He watched them. J rose from T partway and pushed in, showing off his victory.
T felt his muzzle and let her hands wander down his flanks. She wanted him deeper. All his eggs. Everything he could give.
The characters had just reached the city of Atlantis when J finished. He pulled out and spread his seed on her stomach. Still dripping, he strode over to Charles and poked his face with his cock.
“I win,” J said.
Charles slapped the dick out of his face and jumped on top of T. She reached out to him and guided him into her again. He filled her up again and fucked her hard and fast. T embraced him.
J stood over them, dick draped over T’s shoulder, still dripping. Charles gave it a quick lick. It seemed to inspire him to fuck T harder.
The other raptor crouched and nuzzled Charles. “No [m]atter how fast you finish, I gave her eggs. It’s too late.”
Charles growled at him. J licked his cheek.
The human reached out and kissed him as he fucked T harder and harder and faster and...
T grabbed the remote and paused the movie. She then felt both of them.
“Oh [m]y... [b]oth of you are... Just watching you fight, seeing all those [m]uscles in [m]otion, knowing you both want to give [m]e eggs. _[M]e_. This is a[m]azing.”
Charles pulled out. A drop of blood hit T.
Instantly J reached over and licked the human’s wounds. Between licks, he growled at him. Charles felt his neck.
“Next time.” He panted through his nose.
J huffed. “I was waiting outside the door for twenty [m]inutes waiting for you two to start fucking. Hhhhhh, Charles, that was fun. I feel like a wild ani[m]al, snatching [m]y [m]ate from a rival, putting [m]y seed in her [b]efore anyone else can.”
Charles growled at him as J moved over him and cleaned out claw marks down his back. “I’ll fucking kill you before you take that scent away from me.”
J licked his face, and then moved back over the wounds on his spine. “Don’t [m]ake [m]e hard again. I’ll put [m]ore seed into her and then you won’t have a chance.”
T sprawled out. “I feel so heavy. Thank you. [b]oth of you. Oh, I wish you’d fight in front of [m]e all day.”
“I want to,” Charles said, wincing at the dinosaur tongue grinding his raw flesh. “It’s all I can think about.”
“Feeling is [m]utual, hu[m]an,” J said. “She [w]ants [m]y eggs. Not yours.”
“I’ll beat you. I’ll fucking beat you.”
When the bleeding stopped, J rose. So did T. They nuzzled, and then they both nuzzled Charles. The human sat on the mat, panting. He reached up and kissed both of them. His eyes were closed—he was exhausted—T was certain he didn’t know whom he was kissing.
“I don’t...” he panted. “I don’t know what I’m doing. This feels so good.”
T backed away. “I [p]aused the [m]ovie. Isha is in the next scene. I [w]ant you to see.”
Charles reached for his can of Pepsi and took a long drink. J stepped over him, nuzzling him with his snout and showing him his slit.
Charles smacked J’s thigh and set the empty can down.
*
J awoke spooning Charles. He couldn’t remember exactly how the night ended. Only that they had watched another of Isha’s films.
The human’s scent stirred his loins.
A challenger, and this one was a real threat. He wasn’t doing any ritual moves or strikes. Charles was fighting as if everything depended on it.
Just thinking about it made him hard purely to mount T as many times as possible before this threat did. The impulse tickled his heart and made him embrace the human.
Charles was not awake, so J adjusted his hips so his cock would drape over the human’s leg. He scented Charles, enjoying the rush of sensations his scent stirred in him.
Intense hatred. Fear. These were all new feelings to him. Sparring only simulated the pack rivalries raptors must have had in prehistory. Nobody fought for mates anymore. Nobody needed to prove they were worthy. They were conscious individuals and could talk about these things and dinosaurs didn’t need to establish dominance and mating rights by whoever was better at posturing or tearing down weaker opponents. To experience these sensations tickled as many emotions in J as it did in T.
Having someone to hate living so close to him. Being unable to dispose of him. Having to guard himself. Considering for the first time he might not find T’s favor—Charles was apparently quite pleasing.
J licked the human’s ear. He hated the taste, and he liked to hate it. Emotions J never knew he could feel.
At the bar, he had lost. An opponent had caught him by surprise, and he had lost the opportunity to mate. Last night, he had _earned_ his mating rights. So long as T was in heat, he would have to do it again and again, and the possibility that he would lose felt real. No ritual this time. It was real.
He licked the human across the neck. The mix of hated and respect and loathing and fear and gratitude made J’s slit drip. Some got on the human’s leg.
Charles was awake now. J licked him again and ran his claws down to his stomach. Charles grabbed J’s dick. J ran his claws over the human’s.
Rolling out from under the dinosaur cock draped to him, Charles stood up and stretched. J stretched out as well, looking the human up and down, his heart pounding knowing the human was smaller and weaker yet he was still forcing J to prove himself.
Charles went to the bathroom. A minute later, J heard the shower. J was tempted to join him, but he remembered humans tended to separate the sexes in the restroom and rarely liked help cleaning up.
Instead J rolled over and met T’s muzzle. She was awake, too, and immediately began preening him. He lightly teethed her on the neck. He spoke in their native language, borrowing a human expression.
[What do you see in him?]
She growled. [He makes me feel special.]
[He’s making me fight for you. I like fighting for you. It’s so much different like this. I could lose.]
Now she mouthed him. [You just might. I can tell you’re getting something out of this, too.]
[Having a threat around is a new experience for me.]
[I like the intimacy of the fighting. This is not a ritual.]
[Not for me or him. This is fun.]
She nuzzled him and then rolled to her feet. J followed. After some drinks of water, Charles stepped out of the restroom, looking presentable to human society again but still smelling of a pair of raptors.
T stalked over to him and nuzzled him. He kissed her. J looked on, amused.
“Is there,” Charles began. “Is there anything to eat?”
“Actually no,” T said. “I [w]ould have gone out yesterday, but then you showed up. We’ll [m]ake a day tri[p] out of it.”
J huffed and stepped closer to them. “Not [m]any hu[m]ans get to see the dinosaur grocery store. It [m]ight shock you.”
Charles half-smiled. “If I can handle waking up to a dinosaur dick covering my leg, I can handle going out for groceries.”
“That’s the s[p]irit,” T said, guiding him to the door.
The sun was hot already, and it was only late-spring. T took the lead while J and Charles walked behind her. J wondered if Charles knew why he walked here, purely to be in her wake and get more of that scent.
He nudged the human with a finger, sniffing him up. Charles looked at him but didn’t say anything.
J stepped closer, walking side by side as they moved up the street together, drawing more than one turned head from passing dinosaurs.
“This is [w]eird for me, Charles. You [b]eing here as [m]y rival is tickling so [m]any urges I never knew I had. I’ve never had to [p]rove [m]yself worthy of a [m]ate [b]efore. We don’t do that any[m]ore. This is a taste of what my ancestors [m]ust have felt. The urge. The hatred. It’s intense. I’[m] curious what’s going through your head.”
They took a few paces in silence, gradually falling behind T, before Charles answered.
“I can’t stand the idea of anyone else being near that scent. It makes me furious. You’re here... I’m angry you’re always around, but I’ve never felt more alive.”
J rubbed his muzzle against the human’s cheek. “We feel it, too. That’s why we s[p]ar. [b]ut we don’t have to live that way any[m]ore, led around by our noses. We’re [m]uch [m]ore concerned a[b]out getting along than fighting over who gets to [m]ake eggs. Ex[p]loring that urge [m]akes [m]e...” J growled.
“Yeah, yeah. That’s a good way to put it. I want to prove myself. I want it to be me. I... I can’t stand the thought I might not be good enough for her.”
“As long as you’re getting the right things out of this, I like [w]hat we’re doing.”
They turned onto the next street. Charles looked at the next line of row houses, observing the many dinosaurs walking about. It was the weekend, so many people were out by now. He just now noticing all the little shops everywhere, most built into the row houses.
“Is that a clothing store?”
T spoke over her shoulder and down her flank. “So[m]eti[m]es we have to wear hats or an a[p]ron. Hel[p]s us fit in with hu[m]ans [b]etter.”
“Is that a café?”
“Lots of [p]laces cater to hu[m]ans,” T answered. “So [m]any liquor stores around here. Hu[m]ans don’t know they’re [b]uying from dinosaurs. If you notice the [p]eo[p]le who [w]ork in the café never drink the coffee, they’re dinosaurs.”
“Sa[m]e for liquor,” J said. “So[m]e people run juice sho[p]s. Al[m]ost everyone who goes to those [p]laces is a dinosaur.”
A turn down one street, and the row houses ended to make room for a large, one-story building behind a chainlink fence. They went through the fence, which had room for parking but not a single car in sight. T led the way inside, Charles next.
Charles stopped cold and stared, first noticing he could see his breath in here, and then noticing the rows of cows and chickens and other skinless animals hanging from the ceiling.
“A slaughterhouse? Here?”
“Not really,” T said, backing up and standing beside Charles. J flanked his other side, nosing his neck. “They’re just on dis[p]lay. We [p]ick what we want and the em[p]loyees carve it and [p]ackage it for us.”
“But—”
T continued. “[M]eat loses all flavor in the [p]rocessing. They drench it with chemicals so it lasts longer on the shelf. They add color and artificial flavor and—” She shuddered.
J spoke into his ear. “The [b]acteria don’t har[m] us. That’s where the flavor is. We can’t kill food ourselves, so this is what the state lets us do.”
They began leading him deeper into the interior. J made a big show of walking up to one of the steers hanging upside down by its neck and scenting it. T joined him and appraised it with him.
J noticed the sight of T being close to him made Charles steel himself and approach it with him. J growled, and his slit dripped, which fell down a drain in the floor.
Charles was confused, so T told him each animal was different. They may all be chickens or cows or deer, but they were far from the same. The nuances in the meat were lost on human tongues. Dinosaurs can tell the difference.
So they walked from corpse to hanging corpse, most of them stripped of skin and still bleeding, scenting each up and down. Charles showed no fear, and J liked watching him struggle to maintain composure.
They had made their selection, and a fellow raptor wearing a blue apron and hat used a knife to carve off the sections they wanted. The meat fell onto the floor, and J and T walked away, over to the venison selection.
Charles looked back as he followed. “What was that?”
J joined him at his side. “[M]eat on the floor is clai[m]ed. So[m]eone will [b]e [b]y in a few [m]inutes to [p]ackage it for us. We [p]ick it u[p] at the door.” J leaned closer. “Good thing we’re friends, or it could be _your_ [b]ody strung up through the ears.”
Charles faced him. “Eat my cock first. It already pumped your wife full of eggs.”
J tensed up. His claws rose. His slit dripped. For just an instant, he wanted to smack his hands across the human’s chest, and then it passed as they followed T.
“Good one.”
Charles leaned close now. “I like seeing your hackles go up.”
“Don’t [b]low your load. Save it for her.” J bumped noses with Charles.
Charles returned the gesture, and they joined T as she picked out a few chickens.
The human saw something unusual from the corner of his eye, and he turned.
“Holy shit!” he gasped.
