New Life in New Vegas

New Life in New Vegas

Slowly, the thin coyote woke up from his restless sleep.  The room was dimly lit aside from an extremely bright one hanging above him.  A bit of movement soon made him realize that he was strapped down to a table, a cold, metal, doctors table, a gag in his mouth to keep him crying out for help, the only sounds were that of a muffled whimper escaping his maw.  Trying to figure out where he was, he remembered where he last was, digging through some long destroyed building for anything of value in Freeside, then...darkness.

"Ah, good.  Your awake.  Seems I used just the right amount of chloroform to subdue you.  The last one I brought in, I did abit too much and it took him twice as long to come around.  Quite inconvenient when I'm in a hurry to start with a new specimen."

The word specimen made his ears perk, something he had heard of in a science book he had in a pile in that abandoned house he had taken for his own.  That word was used for...when talking about...doing stuff to a person using equipment, or something like that.  Not wanting to see what a specimen would lead to him being, he struggled against the restraints hard, the leather bindings creaking, but at a puny 5 feet, thin limbs, and mal-nourished, he wasn't breaking out of anywhere.

"Now now, please calm yourself.  No need to panic.  Your about to take part in an extraordinary experiment, the likes that haven't been seen in centuries!  What I do here will make the name Horrace Mondale known world wide!" The labcoat dress man stepped into the light, a human, middle-age, thinning hair, slight paunch with a full beard on him, wheeling in a machine of some sort.  It looked like one he had seen in that fancy hospital east of the Strip, but had more machinery on it with multiple hanging bags full of a glowing green fluid.  Multiple tubes were wrapped at the end of the bags and the man was fitting what looked like needles into the ends of them.  The Coyote knew exactly what needles lead to and he started to shake in fear, wondering what this mad man was going to inject into him.  Suddenly and painfully, the human started to jab the needles into areas all over his body.  Two in each arm, both legs, neck, and chest.  Bound and gagged, nothing could be done to resist.

"I'm terribly sorry about the uncomfortable nature of these I.V.'s, but I'm woefully underequipped in this underground haven, so I lack the proper alcohol wipes and numbing agents to make this easier on your poor body.  Now, I'm going to remove the gag so that I can get a little info about you, so I have all pertinent information I need.  The more cooperative you are, the sooner you may leave...barring any...umm...any unforseen circumstances."  With a careful nod, the gag was removed and the coyote gasped out, letting out soft cry's as he tried not to move too much.

"Wh-where am I? Why are you doing this to me? If you let me go, I promise I won't say a word, mister." With a chuckle, the scientist smiled warmly and pat the coyotes leg.

"Where? Well it's a small bunker I found just outside of the Strip and Fiend Territory.  Not the safest of locations when you don't want to be disturbed, but this underground bunker is quite secure and was in rather good condition when I found it.  Only a few rooms, but it's all I need to work on my formula.  As for why...Let's just say that I thought you would be one to benefit from my research.  Haggard, looking like you haven't eaten in days, scrounging for money, you seemed like the perfect candidate."

Breathing faster, the canine scanned the room, seeing the metal walls better and then looking back to the man. "Benefit? R-Research? What are you going to do to me?"

"We'll get to that my boy.  If you could just indulge me for abit longer, I just need to get a small bit of information from you.  Name? Age? Have you ever been exposed to large doses of radiation? Does your family have a history of heart conditions?  Have you ever broken any limbs? What would you say makes up most of your current diet?"

The coyote squirmed as he tried his best to answer these questions, the anticipation building within him as his normal instinct to run grew, but was unable to do anything about it.

"R-Ricky...19...N-No, I don't think so...I never knew my family...Broke my hand once...Whatever I can get...maybe a molerat...gecko if I'm lucky."

Nodding as he wrote onto his clipboard, Mondale then set it aside as he moved to the machine and turned it on, a slow buzz growing from within as lights came on.

"To put this in the most simplest of terms for you, I've been studying and utilizing the research that was used to turn the Super Mutants into the monstrous beasts that they are.  While they are amazing and astounding creatures, with their long lives, ability to withstand radiation, and hulking strength, they've fascinated me since I was a child. After awhile I saw to seeing if I could replicate the process for others, but remove some of the more debilitating effects that happened to alot of them, such as increased anger, decreased mental stability, and issues with sterility.  Twenty years I've spent working on the formula, crossing across wastelands from the east coast to the west and back to here where I believe I've finally perfected my serum.  It wasn't without the loss of a few other specimens along the way, but I believer that is the past and the future is looking good.  Now if you would hold perfectly still, we shall begin the process."

The researcher flipped one switch, and the I.V's began to let loose with the fluid.  The green glow grew brighter as they flowed through all the tubes and slowly into the veins of the helpless speciment.  Ricky suddenly cried out as the serum entered his body, a hot sensation filling every bit of his body, his entire form starting to quiver as whimpered loud, a sensation the like he has never felt filled him.  Everything seemed fine until his entire body felt like it was hit by a lightning bolt.  His body arched upwards, his body as fire as he could barely even speak, gurgles escaping his maw, though instead of what would be normal drool, it was a soft glowing green like the fluid being injected to him, his body changing so that he was producing it himself at an alarming rate until the glow could be seen through his skin, dimly outlined from within his veins.

After minutes of struggling, he coughed up some of the liquid and gasped out for air as he began to feel parts of his body bulge and strain, his limb starting to grow larger, thick and powerful mass coming from within, his fur starting to fall out, skin turning a soft grayish green.  Ricky let out a howl as he couldn't help but tug at the restraints, feeling a new found power that flowed through his being, panting heavily as that green fluid dripped from numerous spots on his face and dripped down his body from his eyes, mouth, nose, nipples, and crotch.  Growling louder, the once five foot coyote had grown two feet, gaining over two hundred pounds of muscle that begin to sculpt itself, an eight pack across his once flat belly, pec muscles he didn't know he even had bulged out and his once average crotch was straining the materials of his ripped pants.

"Yes...Yes! It's working.  No other specimen has made it this far without having complications.  I did it!"

Ricky turned sharply to the voice, his glowing green eyes glaring at the man who did this too him, snarling louder as another burst of growth hit him, shaking uncontrollably as the muscles he had just grown swelled out in every direction, bones popping and crunching, painfully reforming.  In the matter of another few minutes, he hit eight feet and was over four hundred pounds of muscle, his once coyote form not recognizable with his greenish skin, lack of fur, and now monstrous size.  Growling out louder the coyote pulled hard at his restrains, so much force behind his new muscles, he snapped his leather restraints like they were nothing.  Just as he thought he was free, metal clamps slammed down on his hands and feet, holding him in place firmly.

"Please, don't think I didn't take precautions against this.  You'll find those metal bindings quite abit stronger than what I initially bound you with."

Taking that as challenge, Ricky pulled with every ounce of growing strength he had, not feeling anything at first, but the exertion was causing him to swell even larger, snarling his green drool over his chest as the metal began to bend.  With his power seeming to give in to the restraints, the coyote pulled with all his might, a loud clang has bolts and metal flung in all directions, a metal binding hitting the scientist in the head and knocking him back against the wall.

With freedom in view, the once small coyote stood, nine feet of pure muscle, his green skin showing off his throbbing green veins even more as he flexed his entire body in a show of power, pushing out the needles that sprayed the left over liquid across his powerful mutant coyote form.  He lumbered slowly over to the human who was holding his bleeding head, gasping in fright at the sight of his creation.

"O-Oh my...N-Now, now, Ricky.  Let's not do anything hasty.  I removed the aggression that came with the transformation so you should be thinking clearly enough to realize that I helped you.  I turned you into perfection! You'll never grow old, you'll recover from injuries easily, you'll have no equal!"

Ricky just towered over the feeble man, furious as he drooled the liquid onto the man's labcoat, glaring as his eyes seemed to get  brighter before fading and becoming more normal, the original eye color gone and replaced with a soft glow of green.

"I'm not mad cause I can't control it...I'm mad cause you TURNED ME INTO A MONSTER!"

He roared out, fluid spattering across the frightened mans face.  Ricky reached down and grabbed him buy the neck, holding him in the air like he was nothing as he growled deeply, so powerful, it could be felt through Mondale's own body. With a flex of his grip, the man's neck snapped and he dropped the limb corpse to the ground, panting heavily as he felt the last of his growth hit him.  He was close to ten feet, over a half a ton of hulking muscle, no creature in the Mojave Desert able to stand against him as he squeezed out through the doorway of the bunker and into the warm night.  He could see the glow of New Vegas off in the distance, knowing he could never see it up close as the monster he was.

Once he had heard of Super Mutants up in the mountains, living away from other anthro's and humans that shunned and were frightened of them.  He would make his way up there, perhaps to find a place he could call home.
