The metro park had filled with heat scent. Sweet, sugary, thick. Charles wondered if any other human in the city could tell. Even through the pollen and ragweed, he could. Several different heat scents, like an invisible fog bank inside the park. Just standing in the parking lot, the air felt heavy with it.

Nobody told him exactly where the sparring would take place. Only that it would be in the same metro park he and J had been practicing. No doubt finding the spot was something all raptors took for granted, so he would be expected to find it as well.

All the humans had met at X's studio. Someone had lit a fire in a barrel and everyone had covered themselves in smoke to keep the insects off of them. Charles had, too, but not too much. He didn't want to cover his scent. He wanted everyone to know he was here.

Shouldering the gym bag, he set out on the trail. He didn't expect the event to happen anywhere near the walking paths, or even the bike trails, rather he waited for his nose to tell him when to turn off.

The walking path wound and curved as daylight faded. He hoped to find the place before dark. Once there, he had been assured there would be light. X needed it to make his video. Sparring tapes were a hot commodity in some parts of the world, and even a few US states, and cameras needed light. If not for that, raptors would do all of this in the dark. Just them and their night vision. Charles had already agreed to be in this video. He had thought of nothing else for the past three days.

The park closed an hour ago. He hadn't parked in the lot; he had parked almost a mile away and then walked. No other cars.

Very quiet, the only sound being his footsteps, and yet the heat scent made the forest feel clamorous.

The other humans had carpooled together. Not Charles. He wanted no one to see what he was bringing. J had already told him he would be the first human to participate.

Charles paused. Deep into the forest, the path branched off into the overgrown field, where the park allowed the plants to grow wild. This is why he wore pants and an overcoat.

He left the path and followed the heat scent into the underbrush.

*

You flick the switch, and the lights come on, illuminating the clearing. Underbrush surrounds you, and the massive tree is well off to the side and far enough into the underbrush it won't disturb any shots. You expected this to take place under the canopy or something, but now that you see the setup, this is a better place. Even ground, no obstacles. This area was meant to let the plants grow wild, but the park maintained a path through it, and off to the side of this path was an area that had clearly been trampled down deliberately.

From the smell, you are certain the raptor women had cleared this place. It also doesn't look trimmed, like the rest of the path, rather torn and stomped. It is well off the path, but still accessible, and now all the equipment is ready, including the cameras and several suitcases of extra tapes and batteries.

All the humans who had starred in your indie movie are present, now acting as camera operators/cinematographers. In fact, only one person is missing. You wonder where Charles is, and how he will find this place.

You select a camera and set it up for medium shots. You've already been briefed there won't be many opportunities to get close to the action. Your job is to capture what you can without interfering.

You hear rustling underbrush, and you look over your shoulder. Utahraptors are slipping through the weeds. One. Three. Eight. Fifteen.

You see R and E, the green raptor walking flank to flank with his brother, feeling his rippling neck with one hand and his bulging thigh with the other. R is nuzzling him as they cross the clearing.

R is leading his brother straight to you. He meets you, and you nuzzle both of them, taking the chance to non-discreetly pat his pecs. He returns the gesture by squeezing your ass, fingering it with a claw. You took the liberty of wearing shorts that already have a hole in them from the last time he did this.

R: “You ready for this?"

“Sure. I've seen these before."

R curls his neck backwards. “You have? When?"

“We watched several sparring videos."

“We did?"

You laugh. “You fell asleep after blowing two loads in my hand."

His neck straightens. “Oh yeah, I forgot a[b]out those. It can scare so[m]e hu[m]ans away. We're a [b]it like hungry wolves when we s[p]ar, [b]ut don't [b]e scared. We're just scratching an itch."

“Where will you two be?"

E bumps noses with you. “Off to the side so[m]ewhere. So[m]eti[m]es we join, [b]ut [m]ostly we watch."

“We have different urges to scratch. Last ti[m]e he sucked [m]e off and felt [m]e up all night. You can, too, when you need a [b]reak."

You smile. “I probably will. No muscles in my face to keep me interested."

They walk by and have a seat at the edge of the underbrush. The other males are milling about, taking in the scent of the area. Slits are dripping already. You pick up the camera and begin recording, zooming in on the stringy waterfalls between the various reptile legs.

They were here. T could smell them. It never failed to amaze her that the male raptors found the spot the females chose every single time.

She nuzzled Z-I.

Z-I nuzzled G.

G nuzzled A-V.

A-V bumped noses with E-K.

All fifteen raptors in heat shared this moment of indulgence, knowing the males had come all this way, tracked them down, desired them, were willing to fight for them. Being worth fighting for made everyone feel special.

Having G around helped alleviate some of these urges, but nothing felt better than watching males fight for her.

Even now, they were talking about how wonderful the place smelled. Some of them were pacing, clawing the ground, cutting the air with their hands. They were ready—only social custom prevented them from breaking out into a brawl right here and now.

Daylight faded.

The voices in the clearing sounded numerous. More numerous than she expected—she had been through this many times before but each time felt like a surprise.

The sound had reached a level that felt just right. Everyone who wanted to be here was now here.

T rose. The other raptors in heat also rose. G remained on the ground. The raptors began moving toward the clearing. T stepped on G. A few others also went out of the way to step on the herbivore. T swore the Gallimimus climaxed every time she felt a foot on her.

After a brief walk through underbrush taller than she was, she emerged.

The other raptors also peeked through the wall of plant life.

They began to call.

The males in the clearing turned and gave attention. T noted the lights and the humans holding cameras and the gay raptors sitting off to the side, admiring R's muscles with hands and tongues.

Their presence known, T and the other raptors in heat backed into the underbrush, muzzles still visible, but far enough out of the way nobody could see their reactions.

The males in the clearing began to organize, just the way they had been taught. T never singled anyone out. She let them blend together into a single unit. J would eventually emerge from the fray, but for now she indulged in the feeling that it was mating season, and the males wanted to prove they were worthy of her.

Charles emerged into the clearing. It was easier to find than he expected, being the only spot with lights and sounds, and also his nose had led him straight to this place, where all the sweet heat scent became thick as molten candy.

The other male raptors didn't notice he had arrived. That suited Charles. He dropped the gym bag and began stripping his clothes. Quickly stuffing them in the bag, he pulled out the machetes.

Two of them.

Thoroughly cleaned after numerous practice sessions with J, Charles now felt incredibly visible wielding these things. He walked naked into the midst of the other raptors.

They noticed.

Oh, how they noticed him. All activity ceased. All chatter stopped. Charles knew if he wanted to fit in, he had to make an entrance, so he strode into the center of the clearing and, lowering the knives, made a big show of scenting the air.

He let the scent flow down his chest and pool in his groin.

Charles turned, showing everyone his erection. The male raptors noticed. They seemed to drip faster in response. They began to gather. Charles danced.

This footage is great. All these raptors dripping from their slits, dicks peeking as they move about. You have managed to get some close-up shots of two of them. They are not inclined to remain still while you capture these moments—they are far more interested in the human intruder. Charles got them started, and now the dinosaurs are gathering around him, close to the center of the clearing.

Venturing from the perimeter and closer to the dinosaurs circling the human in concentric circles, you keep your camera on Charles, occasionally panning to follow one of the stalking raptors.

They are huffing, wiggling their claws. They remind you of birds puffing up their feathers.

Charles is moving with them, swinging two knives around. Not quite as flashy as Kung Fu movie, but you are intimidated. That he is naked while doing this makes it look surreal.

Not everyone is focused on Charles anymore. Some of the other males have broken off into their own little groups, squaring off, flashing teeth and cutting the air with their hands. You hope the microphones are working, as the sound of air being sliced makes you wince.

Soon that sound is lost as more and more males begin growling and screeching. Slits drip more frequently and in greater quantity.

You notice X on the other side of the fray. He is mostly remaining still. He instructed some to be mobile and others to capture more stationary shots so the whole thing doesn't become a wobbly mess. Several other humans are capturing other perspectives.

Right now everyone is posturing as they square off. You have never heard these kinds of sounds coming out dinosaurs before. The movie failed to do their voices justice—all of this sounds animalistic, and the way they are moving is enough to make you forget they are intelligent creatures.

And then...
