Unnerve walked into the room, making Nocturne's spirits lift up as he saw him.

Unnerve was panting, but nonetheless smiled at Nocturne.

"Impossible! Chief Kai should have easily beaten you!" Gao yelled as he backed away.

"Heh... So this is the spoiled brat of my loved one" Unnerve chuckled.

"Incompetent, useless grunts... Must I do everything myself!?" Gao said as he was still shocked by the turn of events, got into a battle stance to battle Unnerve.

"Hahahaha! You're out of your league if you think you can take me on" Unnerve said as he rushed over to Nocturne and gave a paw to help Nocturne up.

"I never gave up on you, I knew you'd win" Nocturne said as he embraced Unnerve.

Unnerve smiled as he held him back tightly, running his claws through Nocturne's hair.

"I finally defeated my inner demon, Chief Kai, and now it's your turn to confront your own son" Unnerve whispered to Nocturne as they broke their hug and looked into each other's eyes as Nocturne saw a haxorus holding hands with a zoroark.

However, Nocturne looked even deeper, and saw a shadow between them, a shadow that resembled a zorua.

Nocturne teared up and gained his resolve back from what he saw.

"You must have seen something to bring back your spirit" Unnerve commented.

"With you here now, I feel confident I can bring my son back" Unnerve said as he nodded to Unnerve.

Unnerve pulled Nocturne into a passionate kiss sensually, before patting his shoulder.

"You got this" Unnerve encouraged him as he smiled.

"It's finally time that all three of us go home" Nocturne turned towards Gao.

Gao reeled back in surprise, nervous at the determination on display from the night fox.

Gao reached for the walkie talkie, trying to call Inferno to fight the no longer timid and

meek Zoroark.

"Inferno! Get back here and help me! They have me cornered!" Gao yelled into the walkie talkie desperately.

But there was no response. He waited 5 seconds... 10 seconds...

"No... No... IT CAN'T BE!!!" Gao yelled as he smashed the walkie talkie in anger.

"Unnerve, did you meet Inferno on the way?" Nocturne asked Unnerve as he smirked.

"Inferno, Sleuth, SnipeS, and Kain are currently tending to Gabu and Vern. They even told me they'll keep an eye on Kai" Unnerve smirked back.

"Looks like they're going to check in on the rest of the team, but it sounds like everyone won their own battles" Nocturne said as he smiled upon knowing that everyone was alright.

"It's... It's impossible... how could I lose!?" Gao said as he stumbled back like he was punched in the gut.

"The number one hero is a traitor... He should be punished with superior training! That goes for that sidekick of his too once I'm done with you!" Gao hissed angrily at Nocturne.

"Inferno and Sleuth fought for true justice, and they were here to help me win all along. So they didn't even betray you in the first place. Their allegiance laid with me since the beginning" Nocturne responded.

"I calculated everything... I should have won... There was no chance for me to have lost!" Gao grumbled, before almost tripping upon some destroyed debris.

"I believed in my team, and they believed in me in return. We were all fighting for the same future, and our determination helped propel us to victory" Nocturne said as he smiled.

"And now the only thing left is for you to give up and come with me and Unnerve home" Nocturne said before advancing towards Gao and opening his arms to embrace him.

"Stay away from me! Get back!" Gao yelled fearfully as he shot dark pulses and charged night slashes at Nocturne, who took the attacks and remained unphased by them.

Nocturne dripped blood with every step, but still had his arms outstretched for a hug.

Gao kept continuing to attack until he hit a wall, making him feel powerless.

"Stand back! The zorua you once knew is no longer around!" Gao yelled at Nocturne.

"The zorua I know is still there, I can feel it. You're just afraid of being lonely again. We'll always be here for you, and we'll shield you from those who would dare hurt you" Nocturne said as he kept walking and enduring Gao's attacks.

"No... Y-You won't... You will just leave me alone again like last time... I don't want to be alone again... I just want to live a life that I want" Gao cried as he denied what Nocturne said.

Nocturne then pulled Gao into a tight embrace, with Gao's claws digging into his back.

"Let me go..." Gao said as he dug his claws deeper into Nocturne.

"No, I missed my son too much to let you go now. And this pain you're giving me now is nothing compared to the pain you went through" Nocturne said as he kept hugging Gao.

"I went through so much... And you just disappeared... I called for you... And you never came..." Gao cried as he broke down.

"I'm truly sorry for what you went through, and as a father I never wanted that to happen to you. I cannot change the past, but I can provide you with a bright future that you would want" Nocturne cried as he hugged Gao even tighter.

"I missed the old times before the academy... Where we had little money... But had enough to go by..." Gao managed to utter between his sobs as his claws retracted from Nocturne's back.

Nocturne then pulled away from Gao and looked him in the eyes, while Gao looked back at him. Nocturne then saw the serperior in Gao's eyes starting to dissipate in agony, now replaced with a shining zorua stepping out from the shadows.

"I would love that too, to relive the moments back then before I got famous" Nocturne said as he smiled at Gao.

"I still remember the day that you came home with that can of soup we shared together. It was the best meal I ever had since I knew you tried your best to provide for us, even though we were poor. Gao still had tears falling down his cheek

Nocturne chuckled before pulling an empty can of soup out from his pocket, which surprised Gao.

"Is this... The same one?" Gao asked as he looked at the bent and dented can.

"This is the very same can of soup from the beginning. I brought the can with me to cherish the memory that brought all of us together, especially the hero we both share" Nocturne said as he nodded and then turned towards Unnerve to beckon him to come closer.

Once Unnerve approached them, Gao began to cry.

"You were my role model before entering the academy" Gao shut his eyes with tears streaming down his face.

"I've heard that many times from your old man hehehe.... And you look exactly like your father" Unnerve chuckled, commenting while rubbing Gao's head.

"I did my best to provide for Gao, doing what I can to nurture him, and this can of soup is what connected our fates together" Nocturne chuckled before turning towards Gao again.

"Gao, please come home with me and be a family together. Let's share another can of soup. I know it's your favorite, and I want to eat it with you again. Unnerve and I, we want what is best for you. So please, just come home with us" Nocturne said as he reached a paw out for Gao.

Unnerve started tearing up a little bit at Nocturne's speech and held his paw out for Gao as well.

Gao looked at both of them before he started sobbing a river in front of them as he grabbed onto both of their paws and leaned against them while hugging the two.

"I was so scared... I was so lonely... I thought you left me... I'm so sorry..." Gao sobbed into them.

"I never once forgot you, you were always on my mind" Nocturne said as he comforted Gao.

"And Nocturne never gave up on trying to find you, and he wanted nothing more than to see you again" Unnerve added as he nodded to Gao.

Gao pulled away from Unnerve and Nocturne, and wiped his face and showed a bright smile behind it.

Nocturne looked inside Gao's eyes to see a shining zorua standing proudly, with no trace of the serperior.

"I'm glad to have you back son" Nocturne said as he kissed Gao's forehead "I wouldn't have been a good father if I never forgave my son. We are a family, and it is my job to ensure their safety, and forgive you for anything wrong you do"

Gao hugged Nocturne tightly, not wanting to let go as if this would all disappear and reveal itself to be a dream.

Unnerve smiled and joined the hug, which Nocturne and Gao accepted.

All of that rage. All of that hate that had been building up. Gao felt it all fade, for a faint

moment. He grasped that moment tightly, wanting so badly to feel that warmth again.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself embracing his father. It was just them for a

moment. Silence. Peace. Warmth. Another figure joined the embrace, Unnerve. A smile

on his face, the rage in him vanishing just like it did for Gao.

Nocturne held that embrace, feeling the two most important people in his life finally

beside him.

He got it all.

Everything he wanted.

He finally felt warm again.
