Chapter 12
#12 of Next Generation- The Digivolution Saga
Woah, finally managed to finish the next chapter of this story. It was written mostly from storyline notes that I made when I was writing, and I was kinda out of it when I wrote it, so this chapter may warrant a major rewrite at some point. Anyways, the fight ensues, some shit happens, and the group is really starting to sound more like a harem. (Craig you lucky bastard)
The arrow slammed into the F1ND3R's shield, rippling as bolts of energy crackled across the surface of the invisible bubble. The robots internal processors immediately began running in over drive, halting the machine as it analysed the bolt. Slowly, the attack began to push against the shield, the orb bending in like a balloon. The F1ND3R gave a small beep as it completed the analysis, two small lasers rising from its shoulder plates as they focussed at the arrow. The thin beams struck the inside of the shield, making it glow white as the barrier pressed back against the attack. This held for all of a few seconds before the attack began its slow journey towards the F1ND3R's head once again.
Warnings and damage reports flashed through the main CPU of the unit as it calculated and processed the damage. The arrow was slowly digging its way through the outer shell of the robot's head, where most of the sensor equipment was kept. Currently it was boring a hole into the main energy sensor, reducing the piece of equipments range greatly. A soft judder, followed by the bolt flickering, then vanishing, managed to surprise the program as it suddenly found itself calculating pointless simulations. Halting these, it momentarily wondered how it could have been surprised, then wondered how it was able to wonder. The CPU set up a small simulation to address this.
A tiny piece of code, no more than a dozen kilobytes, inched slowly towards the program, carefully hacking into, then slowly merging with it.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Craig gasped as he stared out the huge window at the approaching robot.
"It looks like one of the probes my dad was designing, but bigger," Mary replied, looking back down at the digivice on her wrist, the progress bar showing only 60%.
"It fired at the building! It's attacking the Station!" Lerranna whimpered, still clinging to Argon, who was standing confidently behind Craig, his arm around the cowering female, his own heart beating furiously as he watched the barrage of elemental attacks from the cannons literally disappear in front of the strange metallic object.
"How's it doing that? Making the attacks disappear?" He growled, squinting to focus on the machine.
"It's a special shield, as long as it can calculate the frequency of the attack, the shield can cancel it," Mary answered, speaking as if she were repeating something she'd read in a textbook, "The shield also protects the main program from Data Contamination. It absorbs the data of deleted digimon and stores it in a specially designed capsule inside the robot. It's 99% effective."
The group stared at the green plant girl in surprise, as she continued to watch the robot oblivious to their stares. Suddenly, she leapt back from the window, the entire building shaking as the floor suddenly began to split, pure white data flying up out of the cracks as the floor crumbled beneath them. Craig reacted instantly, grabbing both Namico and Karen and leaping onto the small section Mary was on, which had remained stable enough, still attached to the wall of the floor below as the side of the building broke apart, the angular pieces of masonry tumbling to the floor three stories below.
"How the fuck did it do that?!" Craig yelled, staring out of the now redundant window at the machine, two prong-like objects retracting back into its chest.
"It can also use the Data its collected to create specialised programs that can affect the digital world," Mary answered, staring up into Craig's wild eyes in surprise, blushing when she suddenly realised everyone was staring at her, "I was actually the one to come up with the theory, and my dad got it to work."
Craig looked down at the blushing teen, glancing around to see Argon and Lerranna lying on the ground just outside the room where the white canine had thrown them as the floor collapsed, and Annalla was attempting to hover inside the enclosed space, Selinta dangling from her arm, a mixed look of fear and relief on her feline face. Looking back at Mary, he sighed.
"Let's get somewhere safer first, then you talk,"
The progress bar hit 75%.

"Craig," the voice came through clearly inside the helmet of the digi-quip suit, the boy grinning as he watched the robot begin to move forwards again, "I'm in position."
"Then I guess it's time for a little "High road, low road" then," He chuckled, glancing down at the angel beside him, giving a curt nod before he activated the ability, "Hyper-sonic."

The Archenglewomon gasped as the figure nodded, then vanished, her ears popping at the sudden change in pressure. She scrambled up to look over the high balustrade of the roof, staring in awe as she watched the armoured figure hover momentarily above the attacker, a huge, wicked scythe in his hand, the blue blade crackling as it passed through the air, shimmering in a similar way to how the arrow had, before he plummeted towards it, the black wings that had formed from his cloak pressed tight against his back.

The ground erupted, metal vines erupting up around the robot. Craig watched as he shot into the air, the tentacle like objects lashing at the robot. A loud rumble suddenly filled the air, and he watched as the hulking metal monster suddenly shuddered, lifting off the ground as the shield was pummelled, the rocket boosters working overtime as they fought against gravity. Grinning, he spun the scythe in his fingers, gripping it and swinging down viciously.
"Fluctuation Slash!"
The shield rippled as the attack struck, crumpling as the arc of pulsating energy slammed into the robot's back, crushing the metal shell as the machine tumbled forwards, Mary's vines wasting no time as they quickly wrapped around it, before swinging down and slamming it into the ground. The shield suddenly returned; forcing the tentacles back as the robot righted itself. Craig grinned as he watched it attempt to lift off again.
"Hey Mary, be a dear and give it a boost will you?" he laughed, watching as the metallic vines suddenly gathered beneath the struggling machine, slamming into the bottom of the bubble.
The F1ND3R suddenly found itself flying through the air at a speed it should not be able to attain unless falling, the figure of one of its attackers flashing past as it continued upwards. It ran several simulations as it ascended into the sky, panicking when they collapsed halfway through. It ran another program trying to figure out how it was able to panic, this one collapsing almost immediately as the F1ND3R's main AI finally registered the Program.
"Fluctuation Barrage!"
The F1ND3R suddenly found itself surrounded on all sides by tiny rippling needles, hovering in the air as it slowed. It attempted to run a simulation, which was immediately absorbed by the Program. The shield flickered momentarily as the attack hit, before collapsing inwards.

Something had happened; it was now no longer just a computer system with a specific task. It was no longer just something; it was some_one_. The sentient program stood in the centre of a bland digital landscape, glowing white lines disappearing off into the infinite space. It turned around and stared at the figure behind it. The softly glowing form walked slowly forward, holding out a hand as she smiled, the hard digital world of the F1ND3R's CPU cracking beneath her feet, soft colours oozing out as they spread across the infinite black and white expanse. F1ND3R blinked, then wondered how he could blink.
*Wait, how am I able to think?* he asked, the female figure just carried on smiling, her hand still extended as she continued to approach, *Who are you? What is this? Why is it I must ask questions to find answers? How am I able to refer to myself as I? Answer me now-uh!*
He gasped as she placed her hand on his chest, the softly glowing cracks spreading across him suddenly as he felt his coding begin to disintegrate. He stared at the other program in shock, feeling fear for the first time as he recognised the simulations he had created, the programs he used, even his own security system. He gritted his teeth, a new feeling suddenly appearing, suddenly rising up in him as he lashed out, grabbing the surprised Virus by the throat, the angular lines snaking across her much like the cracks she had placed on him. The anger burnt hot and red inside of F1ND3R, emotions he had never known flooding through him as he fought with the digital creature, swearing as he was slowly over-whelmed.
You shall be mine, the words echoed around him as his world began to collapse, the glowing chaos of the Virus slowly taking over, I shall make you mine.
A manic grin spread across his face as F1ND3R tightened his grip on the Viruses neck, *No, you are wrong. This is my domain, I control all.*
The Virus laughed, smiling sweetly at him. You have nothing with which to defeat me, I have won.
*You are wrong* F1ND3R laughed, his voice wavering, changing as the cracks across his chest suddenly began to close, "You are wrong!"

The robot crumpled, the crushed ball of metal sparking as data danced across its surface. There was a sudden tearing noise as the ball tried to rip itself in half, one half appearing to flee from the other, which quickly enveloped it, several more streams of data dancing across the surface. The ball fell silent, hovering in midair as it had for the past hour.
"This is getting really boring," Craig sighed, watching the floating piece of metal, "It's not about to do anything interesting, so we could probably-."
He was cut off as the orb exploded, causing tiny pieces of metal to rain down on the surrounding area. He watched in awe as two larger pieces slammed into the ground a short way ahead of them, tearing through the ground until they came to rest just in front of the pair of armoured Tamers. Mary immediately picked up the round object, it's surface still glowing red as she stared at the large egg.
"Either that's armour, or a digi-egg. Holy shit!" Craig said, poking the box that had landed next to it with his foot, leaping back when the lens on the front began to glow, warning flashing across his visor as he stared at the lump of charred metal that had been the robots head, reading off the info that appeared on the visor, "Volatile Virus, High Danger, Status: Contained."
"Virus?" Mary asked, "That could explain what happened to the robot! It's program got infected with some Data that evolved into a virus and-aargh!"
"Fluctuation Barrage!"
Mary screamed as the attack surrounded the metal box, crushing it into a tiny metal ball that sparked once, then fell silent. Gasping in shock, Mary whacked Craig on the back of his head with a vine, scowling at him through her helmet. He responded immediately by grabbing the egg from her arms and hurling it away, before Mary managed to catch it with several vines. Both Tamers stared at each other, seeming to be on the verge of attack when their digivice suddenly squawked in unison.
"Power low, revert armour," Craig swore as the dark grey armour suddenly rippled, half folding, half flowing back into the small black triangle on top of his 'vice, watching as Mary's did the same into the green square on top of her own 'vice, both popping off at the same time.
"Shit! Hot!" Craig shouted as he caught his, tossing it from hand to hand as Mary let hers fall to the ground laughing at the male as he threw the item down, blowing on his hands as it shattered, "Note to self, do not catch armour tab things after use."
"It's a pity they were only one use items, though," Mary chuckled, "We could have beaten anyone with those things!"
"Yeah, well most of the digiquip in that vault was in horrible condition from lack of maintenance and use, so it's understandable," Craig said, shaking his hands slightly, "But at least we got some decent upgraded 'quip as well. And anyway, if we could just use the armour all the time, fighting would be no fun."
"I guess," Mary sighed, glancing down at the pieces of the square, "But it was fun while it lasted, at least."
=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=++=
"So it's an egg?" Craig asked, poking the side of the metal object as Mary cleaned the ash off.
"That's what the 'vice says," the plant girl answered, storing it again as she finished, sticking her tongue out at Craig, "And it also says it's mine."
"Watch it," the feline chuckled, suddenly grabbing hold of the purple appendage, "Or the cat will get your tongue."
"Thut up!" Mary lisped, one of her vines lashing out at him, "An' leh goh!"
"Why should I?" he asked, pulling Mary out of her seat as he easily dodged the attack, looming over her as he pulled her closer, still with her tongue gripped firmly in his fingers, "Gonna try whacking me again, because that worked well just now? Or maybe you'll try to poison me, and face the wrath of Namico and Karen?"
Mary stared up into Craig's eyes, her cheeks going deep purple as she blushed. Sighing, she glanced around the room, thankful that they had been left to rest after their long battle, the others helping with repairs to the station. She looked back at Craig as her blush deepened, tightening her jaw, as she couldn't clench her teeth.
"I wanna kis' youh,"
"What?" Craig blinked, letting go of her tongue immediately as the young girl looked to the side, her slightly green face now almost entirely purple as she blushed, "Sorry, but did you just say what I think you just said?!"
"I did, I want to kiss you. I actually fell in love with you almost as soon as I woke up here. I thought it was just a crush at first, because you were the only other human around, but I really think I'm in love with you," Mary said softly, wringing her hands as she stepped closer to the stunned feline, "I know you already have Namico and Karen, but I keep looking at you and...and..."
Craig watched in stunned silence as Mary suddenly sobbed, her shoulders heaving as she cried loudly. A small stone bounced off the side of his head suddenly, making him look up in shock, staring at Namico and Karen scowling at him.
"Hug her!" Karen mouthed at him, Namico mouthing "Talk later. No sex!" to him before both disappeared back through the doorway. Shaking his head in disbelief, Craig stepped forwards and wrapped his arms around Mary's shoulders, pulling the sobbing girl into his chest.
"W-what took you so long?" she sniffed, hugging him back tightly.
"Shock mostly, and being a little too faithful. But I got a little encouragement," Craig chuckled, comforting the girl as they sat back down at the small table, "Oh, and Namico says "No sex."
"That's fine," Mary giggled, wiping her eyes as she sat in Craig's lap, locking her fingers behind his neck, "All I want for now is this."
Craig wrapped his arms gently around her waist as she kissed him, pulling her closer as she opened her mouth, slipping her tongue into his mouth, moaning slightly as he copied the action, his rough appendage rubbing up against hers. Craig couldn't help but chuckle when he felt Mary's vines begin to wrap around him, squeezing him gently as she continued to moan into the kiss. She gasped slightly as she pulled back, her face still dark purple as she blushed, squeaking when Craig suddenly squeezed her tightly, kissing her softly on the forehead.
"You happy now?" He asked, "Nothing else I should know about?"
"Uhm, I want your babies," she joked, letting her body go limp in his arms, her vines falling away as she rested her head on Craig's shoulder.
"You'll have to get in line, I'm afraid," he laughed, leaning back in the chair, "Dammit, before you know it I'm going to have a freaking harem!"
"Then I'm glad I got in early," Mary giggled, kissing the side of his neck gently.
"So am I, your kisses taste like strawberries,"
