Moonlight Tryst

Eden tugged at the collar of her green Scout uniform trying to relieve some of her body heat. Night had fallen but the sweltering heat of the July sun had not yet dissipated. The valley acted like a bowl and held the heat like water. Eden was at the eastern most part of the valley on lone patrol. So far, no signs of trouble appeared on her shift. Lifting her empty canteen, Eden woefully peered into it. She had to find water soon or she would swiftly become dehydrated in this humid heat.

Sniffing the wind, Eden caught the scent of a nearby water source. Quietly, she made her way south and she began to hear the sounds of running water. The full moon lit her way as she came upon a tiny snow-fed waterfall that came out of the mountain side. A natural shallow reservoir formed at the bottom before trickling into a small stream that eventually ran deeper into the valley.

Gratefully, the white kitty filled her canteen and drank her fill of sweet clear water. Sitting on a rock, she dabbled her feet in the cold water. Memorized, Eden watched the moonlight dance off the ripples made by her feet. Suddenly, she heard a voice. Springing to her feet, she dashed into the undergrowth to hide.

Peering out, Eden saw a light gray female wolf on the opposite shore, also clad in a green uniform. Eden recognized her as Kayla, whom was around seventeen summers old.
