Emerald Maiden Chapter 51: Shift (V)
The content level and some tags are reflective of the work as a whole. Some chapters may not feature extreme content while others will. Reader discretion is advised.
Path of the Emerald Maiden is a coming-of-age adventure story with mild horror elements and, due to its nature, contains violent (and occasionally gory) scenes. This erotica seeks to tell a story first and excite in the other way second. You could read the entire thing and enjoy it without even being into the content depicted.
All of the violence depicted within the book is for story purposes only and exists independent of sex scenes, though they may be next to them. You can expect scenes of giant alien-on-person sex, said giant alien harming people, and acts of depravity such as torturous murder. The story is ultimately about the protagonist’s struggle to accept her new life and her journey in the doing, along with the changes that occur within her.

Description:
A young woman from a pre-neolithic society is accidentally whisked away to another world entirely during a raid on a research lab run by alien invaders. Stranded with no friends, badly injured, and no idea where home even is, she's forced to live off the land and learn how to survive in this strange and hostile world.
There's only one slight problem, though.
She's not trapped in this world with them. They're trapped in this world with her.

This story contains sexual elements and disturbing themes. The contents aren't purely intended to be pornographic, but some scenes objectively are. This is about a giant monster that eats people, so reader discretion is advised. This story contains vorarephilic themes.
This story will have a very slow and intermittent pace to begin with. True stakes don't really show up until halfway through, though the build-up is always there in the background. This is ultimately not a story of grand adventure and defeating one's enemies to rise to the top, it is the tale of a lost and naive young woman growing as a person and learning new things. It is a personal one concerning her, and thus this story will be told in present-tense first-person.
Chapter 51: Shift (V)
A/N:
We now return to your regularly scheduled Emeral and surprise guest appearance. This chapter is very heavy on the whole 'inside of Emeral' bit that occurs every once in a while; it just happens to be in more ways than one.
I belch again and roll from my side to my back as I continue to pump my belly with my distension muscles making of it a makeshift lung, and moan in pain over my ruined eye... along with the simple touch-pleasure of rubbing my rarely accessible skin.
It really fucking hurts, but it'll grow back. Eventually. Perhaps as long as my leg did... eye injuries tend to last.
At least it isn't bleeding too badly... dormant as I am, were it a worse wound I would likely bleed out.
Scratch that actually. It's definitely going to take a lot longer to heal unless I gorge.
Note to self: keep them closed when my prey can still act. And I'm not yet big enough for both a human's shoulders and arms if they aren't on the small side.
I feel yet more shifting and hear more muted muttering within. She can't have held her breath for this long--my idea has worked. It will grant me more time with her, and her more time for me to think.
Pat pat pat. She's a fighter. A real shame I was wrong after all, and the only reason I need to kill her is to protect myself from witnesses. The fun of it certainly helps and I may perhaps embrace it yet; it's quite a different feeling being stuffed with live and still struggling prey... it's no wonder that the others back home became obsessed with it.
Still. It's somewhat... uncomfortable. Perhaps it's the stinging pain of my eye but I can feel her movements compressing the rest of my organs. Thankfully I'm no lesser predator and they can take it, my belly's thick walls and powerful muscles serving as tool and armor both.
It makes me happy to feel so full; it emulates an extremely successful hunt to my mind, and perhaps it is--but there remains much to consider.
Thanks to my revelations in exercise and having begun to practice, I'm able to remain diligent in pumping myself and straining my stomach, crop, and throats' gates open. Every moment feels like a severe case of hiccups without the hiccing or the upping. This really doesn't lend to a good situation to think, but... this human has given me far more to think on.
My Carey...
My Sam...
I almost hurt them.
Killed them, ate them, not necessarily in that order as my new 'friend' is discovering. I must think this through with ration and reason, as Mother has taught me to in all decisions big and small.
I fear hurting my friends, for they are my friends and more--they are my sworn sisters. Clearly my instincts had not yet caught up to this fact, and for that they must adapt. My instincts are important for my protection. However, while they are the wisdom of those before me, none of my ancestors have experienced what I have. 'Non-Kin are food,' they say, and yet non-Kin are my only friends here.
“Hello?" she speaks, muffled by meat. “What's... what's going on? What are you going to do to me?"
Pat pat. Quiet down, I'm thinking. The dormancy will slow your inevitable demise; we've got hours.
Such a curious little creature. She would have done well to listen to her instincts, but again, like all those of this place they are unused to me. Still they scream in fear, but only once they know what I am... all of this place, but for her.
The fear was absolutely there and it was truly exciting. Though I'd hope I would I'd have the sense to keep in mind it isn't a signal of desire, were I a male instead the poor girl would probably have been capable of seducing me on the spot. And yet... she overcame that fear. She held her ground unlike previous humans I have judged and eaten, and only resorted to begging when it was all she had left. She fought admirably and left me a great wound I will absolutely be learning from. But what I hold most important was her curiosity for me.
My name. Really? Ha! Kin greet each other through sniffing to establish who is who but humans must exchange names. In both peoples it is the first step in discussion and perhaps friendship. She didn't want to know how to hurt me, she just wanted to know me.
If given the chance would she have been willing to become a second Carey? If I were a male she probably would have actually been willing.
Hey... now that's a thought.
“This is really weird. Can I please... not... die?"
Indeed, that is a thought.
Pat pat pat. Rub.
Tired of enduring the unneeded pain--even if it's overshadowed by my damned eye--I pop my teeth back out and continue my breaths for two through a clever grin.
I don't need to kill her. And maybe she would be up for some fun.
I must avoid detection and my knowledge amongst humans for my own protection. She is a witness and a particularly inquisitive one at that. Yes she feared me, and even still her scent wafts out, but she was brave in the face of me. Literally even when inside of my face.
Mmm. She had nice skin, too. If I were to still kill her it would almost be worth coughing her up just to start nibbling.
But no. No, I don't think I will.
The core value of all Kin is preservation of resources, primarily food and safe water. Humans have a great many sins but we have few: rape, unwarranted gluttony, and the wasting of perfectly good food.
If I were to release her, I would be releasing food. Food that nobody would miss. Food that nobody would know I took but for its absence. Food that... can talk, is a potential friend, and is not actually that good of food.
Hm.
“Hello?"
Rub rub.
Humans have many rules. So many, that they had to create 'laws.' These laws are organized rules that you can't just tell each other, they have to be recorded in and on objects because there's just that many. So many that there are humans whose entire beings revolve around talking about these rules and perhaps even making more. Some of these rules are rather silly, while others are very important for ensuring that there is fairness.
Those televisions are great for learning both English and human culture. One 'show' I make sure to watch with Carey and Sam over lunch if they're home is about these laws and their discussion in a 'court room.' All of the rules broken and being discussed are quite minor and are usually about humans' objects. When asked, Carey explained that the show is partially 'staged,' and any decisions made by the 'judges,' are more like a prize, and both of the humans get paid money anyway just for being there.
It's weird, if you ask me. But, when she put it like that it makes sense why someone who has committed the sin of murder would not be rewarded for being there, thus they aren't there to be seen.
Humans... they have a very loose interpretation of 'murder.' Carey has grumbled about some humans who even think killing animals for food is murder! Such silliness. Animals taste good, they're food, and-
“Please! Whatever you're doing, just... please let me out?"
Ugh. Humans.
I judge humans by my rules, but I am above theirs for I am stronger. And not a human.
If I were, I would have broken many of their rules. 'Theft,' 'murder,' and... well, arguably that woman I had fun with was not in her right mind.
But I'm not a human.
Scratch scratch scratch.
I eat humans.
Scratch scratch.
They're fun to eat.
Pat pat pat.
But I won't kill this one.
This is... actually something of a dilemma.
I shall not be killing her, in order to preserve the population of wild Careys which I may catch and release. This is especially important because they may lead me to Sams. One day they might even result in Franks, but we shall see. Now that I've considered it I think I actually quite like the idea of humans who are outright friendly to me without needing to be put in their place--in or under me.
I don't need this one as a Carey because I already have a Carey, but if something happens to my Carey... well, I would be sad, but ones such as this clearly exist and could act as substitutes if I allow them. In violating the wasting of food I am instead upholding the more important preservation of future... well, not-food. Killing this one does not benefit me very much unless I make it even more fun, which I don't really want to do because...
Wait, why because?
That's a human way of thinking. Why because? Because it would break human rules? Carey has explained the importance of consent to me and I understand it and how it parallels to the ways of my people, but it would just be for fun and she would be dying anyway after. That is a human way of thinking. I'm not a human, I'm...
Oh.
Scratch. Scratch.
Scratch.
Huh.
Humans have a term for one such as I; the concept of a person or animal who flouts their rules and way of things. One which... hunts them down one by one, kills, and sometimes even eats them. They're malicious and occasionally sadistic creatures who enjoy their suffering.
“Please!" she begs. “You don't have to do this! You don't have to be some monster!"
Monster.
Humans fear monsters, for they represent the destruction of their safety. Lacking in true monsters humans have made stories of them on their televisions. In the 'dinosaur' one they were large animals eating humans because they were just food to them, and in another, it was a creature from beyond the sky just trying to make more of itself. Others showed mute but inevitable and invincible killers who seemed human, but could and would do things humans normally would not be able or willing to do.
Except I'm not any of these. I'm a person, and my Carey and Sam are people too.
But what makes them special? What makes them people, and not food?
Well... they accepted me. Carey may have rejected me at first, but Sam completely accepted me.
And this one might too if I just let her free.
Pat pat pat pat pat.
She exerts from within and pushes back in defiance. How admirable.
So I suppose I'm a monster, then. What of it? I'm a dangerous creature from who-knows-where, doing what I will among humans, eating them and taking their things. It's just who and what I am.
Humans fear monsters. I'm a monster. Humans fear me. This is... well, natural--except for the fact that it completely gets in the way of attempting to make friends with them. I wouldn't even need to assert my dominance if they just accepted it. The point of those movies is to instill fear by presenting a 'what-if,' because these creatures do not truly exist. A human could be killed by a marauding and particularly smart bear, but Carey has assured me that those dinosaurs are long dead, those aliens are completely made up, and while some humans break, they're not some invincible and unkillable monsters.
But if they did exist... the humans would kill or cage them to keep themselves and others safe, which is why as I am a monster I must ensure that no humans can know to do me harm.
I have fallen into that role of monster and more. I have proven that 'what-if' completely correct, and humans rightly fear me for it. They know something has been killing them, and I've not been particularly subtle at times, so it... well, I suppose it creates tension and if I get seen...
...then I'm always just going to be a monster to them.
Except for her.
It is un-Kin to sympathize with mere prey, but... they aren't prey. My Carey and Sam have proven that they can be so much more, and this one has validated that. They're something else and by my own admission in swearing bond to Carey, they are as if a sister people to my own. Perhaps even the tall intruders could be an allegedly fun-to-eat sister people to my own, if only we... well.
If only we stopped eating them.
We did start the war after all, what with raiding them. None back home would ever lie about it, instead focusing on how they came, and they attacked first, and they are fun to eat and kill.
They didn't give us a chance, but then... we didn't really give them one either. If we didn't fight, we could work together.
...
Homesickness suddenly strikes me the hardest it ever has. If I were ever to get home I could try to fix things. We could have their knowledge without needing to take it--especially because eating them isn't how to do that. It would take a long time, and probably result in a few honor duels, but I could do it.
...
Hm. She's been awfully quiet.
My Sam was quick to trust me, and just as quick to forgive me because I wasn't a mindless killer out to harm her and my Carey. I earned that. It can work.
And if I were to kill this human, I would be exactly what all humans fear: a monster.
Hnh!
I squeeze and prompt a tired groan, but she doesn't begin her ascent. All I'm doing is crushing her.
Hngh!
I try again, and still she doesn't rise. She must have shifted around in there quite a bit and is too large to simply expel.
I give her a few rubs and exert discipline on my internal muscles to make her former entrance as noticeable as I can.
Hangh! Get out of me already, stupid human.
She begins to shift again and squirms, eliciting a particularly strange sensation inside of me. I feel pressure within and try one more squeeze...
GET! OUT!
My organs compress and I feel her be forced back into my esophagus, and begin the arduous and uncomfortable effort of reversing her consignment. With a path open and begun my stomach expels her up, and I began to hork.
“Bleghk... bleghk... bleghk... bleghk..."
On my back as I remain I leave my neck laid out and slowly, steadily urge her on and out. Before she can reach my gullet I retract my teeth to ensure her lovely skin doesn't get nicked, and with one final push...
“BLAGHK!"
I crack my jaws and begin regurgitating her up onto the damp grass of the clearing. She begins coughing and spluttering, but remains in a juice-coated heap.
“Ohhhh..." she groans. “That sucked."
It feels as if every muscle in my body is complaining as I too lay huffing. Those allowing for my distension, used to remaining compressed, did not like having to do what I did with them, and it's a rather different task of unswallowing something.
I merely lay as I am, but she finally gets her wits about her and stumbles upright--before noticing me and turning. She wipes a glob of either saliva or stomach juices away from her brow and fusses over her matted red hair, a color I had yet to see on a human.
“Well then. Um. Thank you for sparing me?"
She jumps back in surprise as I begin to move, rolling from my back to my once-more flat belly. I look her over and give her another grin.
“Sex?" I propose.
Her eyes go wide and she blushes hard, but she readies to bolt and her expression shifts to one of defiance.
“...No," she pronounces and frowns. “No. Not even if you threaten to eat me again."
I merely grunt and effect a human shrug.
“Then go," I command her.
She looks... surprised, to say the least. As if I had spared her just to rape her. But I shall be better than that; if she were to be my play-thing, she would not be outside of me right now.
“Just... go? That's it? You're not going to hurt me?"
I nod. “Go." She has nothing more to offer me right now.
She continues to stare, blinks, and only now finally starts to accept her continued life and departs. She collects her shoes and bag, gives me one more conflicted glance, and disappears back toward the trail.
I give her five minutes to well and truly escape before following, but rather than continue along her own trail back towards the town, I turn deeper into the surrounding forest to continue my walk.
She has indeed given me more to think about, but has also helped me answer many questions I did not even know I needed to confront.
I feel that my place in this world is truly coming together. First I found my Carey and Sam to help me navigate and survive in this land of humans, but now I believe I know how I shall thrive here. I will need to work together with the humans as best I can to make them like and lavish me. If I could get one to once more willingly please me...
Oh, now that would be a treat.
How to get there is another problem entirely. Carey is absolutely correct that I need to stay hidden for my own safety, and she is especially correct after everything I've done to earn their ire.
Perhaps... I could seek to make things right? Provide back for all the food and humans I have taken?
Humans do have a very loose definition on what is murder. They draw the line at 'for food,' and thus my killings are okay by their rules because any I killed, I did to eat. Would they understand and accept this? How would my sworn sisters feel?
The man at the tent-place; taken, toyed with, devoured.
The woman in her false refuge; broken, made mine, wrong-willingly.
The hunter at Carey's truck; unintended, quick, and unnecessary.
The father from his home; working, lured, and dissected.
The stumbler in an alley; confused, experimented with, and drained.
Five I have killed. Two lacked mates and two lacked offspring, but one left behind both. His mate--his wife--will need to work harder to teach her adolescents in the remaining years of their growth. I could ease her burdens by providing them food. As Carey has explained, humans must 'work' and do things for others to get their currency and trade it for food. If they don't need to trade this currency for food, they would not need to work as much.
This could be where I begin. I bring her food, I approach and apologize, I offer her my labors, and perhaps I may even help teach her near-adults how to hunt for themselves.
I stop and sit to rest for a time, lounging in a damp divot against a tree.
This plan could work, but... would it really make the humans forgive me? I did eat them for food, but I need to be honest with myself: it wasn't chiefly for that, it was for mistaken power and perhaps misplaced entertainment. They're fun to eat and toy with, their skin is supple and only barely furred in most places, and... well, they're awful as food.
I have to toss out that justification. I've been over this with myself; I ate them for fun. Purely for the enjoyment of it.
I scratch at an itch beneath a neck plate and then idly rub away some drying blood from my eye.
For some reason that I can't quite place, this thought... disturbs me.
Why?
That has got to be the singularly worst and weirdest thing I have ever experienced.
I don't know what's worse; the fact that it happened at all, or the fact that it propositioned me for sex afterward!
And just let me leave after I told it no!
What the fuck. I don't even know if the creature was a he, a she, or something truly alien.
The winter chill is going to set in soon if I don't find shelter and a shower, but... at least being in that beast's sauna of a belly has left me heated up. I just need to get to my motel without anyone getting close enough to smell me.
Ugh, my hair... but at least I still have it. This gunk is going to be a pain to get out though.
Every bone and muscle in my body aches something fierce and I'm totally drenched in its fluids. Even looking and smelling as I do, absolutely nobody would believe me if I told anyone what happened to me.
'I found the Gold River Grabber! It's a giant alien creature! It ate me, but then it let me go! And then it offered to have sex with me, but I turned it down!'
Yeah, right.
The story would just be dismissed as the insane ramblings of a particularly degenerate fetishist. That whole 'sex' bit would just be the cherry on top of the ridiculous story and just repeating it back to myself I can hardly believe it actually happened, and wouldn't if I wasn't... you know. Bearing the signs of it in pretty much every way possible.
By the time I'm cleaned up and can head back out again, the thing will probably be long gone, and I won't be able to get out here again for some time. I don't even have anything to show for it that could actually convince Matilda.
...I stop, and a smile creeps across my face.
Except that I do.
As best I can I wipe my hands clean on a few ferns and retrieve my camera from my bag, turn it on, and check its storage.
Almost too good to be true, the pictures are perfect. Absolutely, indisputably flawless and nobody will ever be able to accuse them of being manipulated. This has made my fucking career!
“YES!" I cheer! “Let's go! Screw you, Matilda! I WAS RIGHT!"
I carefully return my camera and cradle my bag protectively, returning as swiftly as I can to my motel with a pep in my step.
I got a lot more than I expected, way more than I bargained for, and belly-deep in over my head, but now I know for certain that some stories are real... and apparently both hungry yet merciful.
A/N:
Gotcha! Abby goes free, and you get Emeral philosophizing on eating people.
The alien has now made a rather important decision. She has inconvenienced herself and potentially even set up a potential problem in the name of trying to not be the monster she finally knows she is.
Now that the fourth arc is well under way we're seeing the fulfillment of many plot threads and fuel for Emeral's character development. Everything was leading up to these moments. She has learned, she has experienced, and now she will choose who she wishes to be.
So: the background logistics of stuff here. Due to being able to voluntarily regurgitate, Kin have the ability to consciously control their distension-related muscles, along with laxening the related sphincters and their throats. As mentioned, with her revelations on exercise and muscles, she has been practicing this off-page. In general the Kin have way more conscious muscle control, but this comes at the price of a larger and more expensive brain. Specifically with females they have an entire set of muscles specifically for their crop allowing them to do this, due to the need to store and transport their young safely inside.
This is deep-lore stuff that never becomes relevant in this story but they actually have two brains! It starts off as just a tiny bundle of neurons in the middle of their spine's length, but once they reach a certain size it begins to grow out and their nervous system offloads control of their arms and legs to it instead. This sub-brain then semi-autonomously controls their body for them by their conscious directive, ultimately allowing for a still-efficient brain in their heads which becomes harder to damage.
