It all started, on a night much like tonight...

Sitka looked out the window, and into a world shrouded with a heavy coating of snow. It fell from the sky in a pure white sheet, transforming normal shapes into things from the most intense dream. Trees became monsters, cars lightning beetles buzzing by in the dark night. Sitka raised the ringing phone to his ear, one finger gently tapping the worn out, green talk button. It was Shelby.

"Hey Sik," She said, using one of Sitka's most commonly known nicknames. Usually hating it, hearing it from his crush turned it into a whole other thing. Sitka was perplexed as to why she would possibly be calling him, as he rarely saw her or interacted with her at all during school. He had loved her since before he could even remember, her merely walking into the same room as him reducing him to a stuttering moron. He swallowed before replying,

"Hi Shelby, what's up?" He heard her inhale shakily before he heard her actually reply.

"Well, as weird as it may be, would you be interested in coming over tonight for a while?" She asked, Sitka dropping the phone. He scrambled to pick it up, fingers hitting several numbers before he got a hold of it and raised it back to his ear.

"Umm," He said, trying not to sound too anxious.

"It's okay, I can tell you don't want to. It's short notice, and stupid, and..." She began to say, voice almost choked.

"No, no, no, I want to. I'll be right over Shelby," He said, heart hammering against his ribs. His paws were sweaty, and he was feeling lightheaded. He was no good at so much as talking to girls usually, so tonight would be a harrowing experience. Or, it could be the most fun he's ever had.

"Oh!" She said, voice immediately perking up, "Sounds great! I can't wait to see you!" She said, Sitka hanging up after saying a short 'goodbye.' He walked through his Dad's crappy kitchen and out into the decrepit breezeway. Their house was the product of a divorce, and they were stuck living like they were while his mother fought to take his dad to the cleaners money wise. If they spent any money on the place, Sitka's dad would get shafted and have to pay her more money, so they left the terrible place as it was. Sitka threw on his brown barn jacket, tying on his yellow Chippewa work boots, and pulling the keys to his 1980 Dodge Power Wagon W200 from the pocket of his worn out jeans. He opened the breezeway door, walking through two feet of snow before stepping into the truck and turning the key. The engine roared to life, and Sitka put it into four wheel drive low before pulling out onto the icy streets. The wind thrashed snow against the windows, the radio antenna whipping around in circular patterns. Sitka carefully made his way out onto the highway, passing several half-buried cars in ditches along the way. This was the worst snowstorm they'd had in several years, and it was only December. Then again, Sik thought, it was northern Maine. Sitka kept his booted foot down gently on the pedal, shifting into second gear as he reached the exit he needed to take. This exit passed right by the Pilot gas station, so he checked the gasoline levels in the thirsty vehicle. He had half a tank, more than enough. Passing by the huge truck stop, he drove slowly to the top of the steep hill, trying to keep his speed down as he crested and went over the other side. It was no use, the tires lost traction and he began to slide down the hill towards somebody in a much smaller car at the bottom. He slammed his fist on the horn, the wind sweeping the sound away from even Sitka's ears, no way would it reach the other car. He accelerated, trying to match the speed of his descent with his tires but it was a futile effort. As he neared the car and his speed increased, it suddenly took off, leaving Sitka open to throw the truck sideways and stop the skid. He was shaken, but he was used to such driving. He almost passed by Shelby's house, but noticed the lighted house just in time to stop and turn into the driveway. A lone truck sat amidst the snow, a Ford F350. Sitka turned the truck off, stepping out and trying to slam the door as loud as he could. Some snow slid from the roof into the bed of the truck from the shock of slamming the door, the sound of the door slamming deadened by the thick snow cover. Sitka pulled his jacket tighter about himself, wading through the crystalline white menace to the front door of the house. He knocked twice, standing as he heard the wind whistling through the trees. He took a deep breath through his wet, black nose, waiting for somebody to come to the door. Snow was piling up on his coat, making his head fur cold. His breath froze as he exhaled, crystallizing on his whiskers. He seemed to stand there for hours, just waiting and waiting as his heart raced out of control. In reality, he wasn't there thirty seconds before the inside door opened and hot air wafted over his face through the screen door.

"Sitka! Come in!" Shelby said, opening the door and stepping back to allow him inside. "Get here safe?"

"No, sorry. I died along the way," He said, Shelby squinting her eyes before giggling.

"If you died, I'd never talk to you again," She said, helping the smaller wolf take off his brown jacket. He bent down to untie his boots, brushing snow off onto the rug in the process. Stepping out of the steel-toe contraptions, he looked up at her before brandishing a movie.

"I brought your favorite..." He said, waving it in the air gently.

"Grease!" She said, jumping up and down for a mere instant. Sitka was mesmerized by her bouncing chest, but quickly snapped away from the thought and handed it to her. "How did you know I loved this movie?"

"Lucky guess?" Sitka said, winking and walking behind her into the living room. She placed the disk into the Blu-Ray player, sitting down next to Sitka on the overstuffed leather couch. Sitka folded his hands in his lap, sitting politely and quietly as the movie started. The two sat and started eating chips and drinking deadly amounts of Mountain Dew until about halfway into the movie. The power shut off without warning, throwing the entire house into darkness. The night was dragging on, and they were approaching twelve o'clock. "I should really get going, I have things. Things that need doing..." He started, Shelby standing from the couch.

"You're more than welcome to stay the night. The roads are dangerous anyway, and my parents won't be home until next weekend, please stay?" She said, all in one breath.

"I suppose, maybe, I can stay," Sitka said, actually enthralled that he was going to spend the night with this lovely person.

"Let's go then, to the bedroom!" Shelby said, leading Sitka into her room. She stripped almost immediately, sliding her completely naked body under the covers as Sitka watched. "Well, silly, you coming in or not?" She asked, Sitka's sheath stirring as he nodded.
