Wings Of Fire-Fighting Conquest CH 6
Since I haven't been writing much lately, after this book it might be a minute before i start posting the next TLOS book. But hang in there, i will continue
Several weeks had passed, and the only news they had heard was a few letters from Sunny. She didn’t know much about where she was, but they were okay, Starflight was going to be okay. Tsunami sighed again with relief, glad that Starflight was going to make it. She looked out at the group, about half the size as normal because most of the students had left early. Winter and Qibli were leading the group back to the academy. Moon and Lynx had worked together to push these two into forgiving each other. Riptide stood next to her, and they were preparing for the long swim to the other seawing kingdom. Tsunami had learned that it was called the Oceana Kingdom, and hoped that her royal status will be welcomed there. Winter and Lynx had retrieved the Stone Staff, and were bringing it with them back to the academy. The two seawings watched as the large group of dragons lifted off and flew back towards Pyrria. Tsunami sighed, and turned to Riptide.
“Ready?” She asked.
Riptide nodded, and they dove into the water. Now was the time for a long swim.
Sunny walked into the mess hall, grabbed two plates of food, and rushed back into Starflight’s room. He had woken up a few days earlier, but was still in a lot of pain. She curled up next to him on the bed, and nuzzled him awake.
“Star, you need to eat.” She told him.
He opened his eyes, and looked over at her.
“Alright.” He groaned and sat up.
After slowly eating his meal, he looked over at her.
“You okay?”
“I’m fine, just worried about you.” She told him.
Starflight coughed a few times. “Ugh.”
“I’m still shocked about you almost dying. I don’t know what I would do if I lost you.” Sunny sighed.
Starflight leaned over and nuzzled her snout. “It’s alright.”
A dragon wearing a white cape walked into the room.
“Hello, it’s good to see you up and eating!” She exclaimed.
“Uhm, hi?” Starflight replied.
“Right, we haven’t met. I’m Sunder, and I’m your doctor. You were out for quite a while there.”
“What’s the news?” Sunny asked.
Sunder smiled over at her. “One final check and if it goes well, I can send you home.”
Starflight nodded, and the doctor checked his heart, and other vitals. After a few minutes, Sunder wrote furiously on a piece of paper before smiling up at them.
“Alright, everything looks good, and I’m okaying you for travel. For the next two weeks I want you bedridden, and away from stressful situations. Eat mild foods, and don’t move around too much. Then, for two months try to keep your stress down, but you can fly and move about.” She told them.
Sunny nodded. “I’ll make sure he heals.”
Sunder wrote something else down. “And you, relax, I mean it.”
Sunny blushed, and Starflight looked confused. Sunder pushed a button on the wall, and spoke into it.
“I need a patient wheeled into the dock, and brought home.”
“Copy that, workers in route.” The wall spoke back.
“Clay!” Michael called to him.
Clay turned to greet him. “What’s up?”
“You need to get Moon and Fatespeaker, Starflight and Sunny are returning now.”
“What? Now?”
“Yes, also get Qibli, and send him to the sand kingdom to get Thorn. I already sent for Farsight and Mastermind.”
Clay nodded, and rushed off to find the mentioned dragons. After doing so, he brought the nightwings out in front of the academy. They were just in time, a large machine landed in front of them, and the door fell open. A few dragons guided Starflight on a cart to Clay and the others, before turning and walking back into the machine. The door closed and it took off. Sunny walked up to Clay, and smiled weakly at him.
“Hey.” She smiled.
“Hey, you look tired.” Clay replied.
“I haven’t been getting much sleep.” Sunny replied.
Moon and Fatespeaker brought the cart into Starflight and Sunny’s cave, and they all carefully moved him to the bed. Starflight looked pained, but soon relaxed in a familiar place. Sunny sighed, and looked over at the others.
“Thank you.” She spoke, and fell into the bed.
Sunny was almost instantly asleep. Moon, Fatespeaker, and Clay eyed each other for a moment, before quietly walking out of the room. Clay walked back out of the academy, and waited for the inevitable flood of worried people rushing into the academy. The first dragon to arrive was Glory, she landed suddenly, panting heavily, with Deathbringer soon behind her.
“Jeez, Glory, how am I supposed to protect you if your way ahead of me?” He asked.
Glory rolled her eyes, and walked up to Clay.
“Where are they?”
“In their room.” Clay replied. “Asleep, so be silent.”
Glory ran into the academy, and Deathbringer followed. Soon, Farsight and Mastermind landed and wordlessly rushed into the academy. Clay shouted at them but they didn’t stop. The last to arrive was Thorn, and she looked very worried. Smolder was trying to calm her down, but she shook her head at him and he silenced himself. Clay walked up to her, and nodded in greeting.
“They’re asleep, and I have a feeling that the others are still in there with them.” He told them.
“Where?” Thorn asked.
“His room, it’s two down from her old one.” Clay replied.
Thorn nodded and walked into the academy. Clay sighed, and decided to follow them, he entered the room and noticed seven dragons that were watching the sleeping couple. Thorn frowned as she looked at the state of her daughter, while Mastermind and Farsight looked relieved. Fatespeaker sat in a corner, not interacting with anybody, while Glory and Deathbringer stood bickered about their condition.
“She looks worn.” Smolder whispered to Clay.
He nodded. “Yeah, I noticed that too.”
“You said he nearly died?”
“Yeah, he was in a coma for a few weeks, and almost died several times.” Clay replied. “It scared the heck out of Sunny, you should have seen the letters.”
Thorn nodded, and sighed.
“He saved her, if he hadn’t jumped in front of her, she would have died.”
Mastermind and Farsight hitched their breath. Glory looked over at him, stunned, while Deathbringer nodded in understanding.
“You didn’t mention this before?” Glory replied.
“Oh, sorry.” Clay replied.
Sunny groaned and opened her eyes, she looked around and noticed the group of dragons surrounding them.
“How long have I been out?” She asked
“Only a few hours.” Clay told her.
“Wow.” She looked around. “You guys got here fast.”
She tried to get up, but both Glory and Thorn stopped her.
“You stay, were going to be here for you for a few weeks.” Thorn told her. “Just relax, were here to help.”
Sunny looked over at Starflight, who was still asleep.
“He needs it more than I do.” Sunny replied.
“He’ll be fine, we will take care of him for you, just focus on yourself.” Glory told her.
Sunny sighed, and leaned back. “Alright then, I’ll just go back… to…”
Her eyes drifted shut as she fell back asleep. Thorn, Smolder, Glory, and Deathbringer all walked out of the room, leaving Starfligh’t parents and Fatespeaker with Clay. Clay nodded to them, before walking out of the room.
Starflight woke up and looked over at Sunny. She was curled up against him, snoring lightly. He noticed that his parents were asleep on the floor, and Fatespeaker was also asleep in the corner. He wondered who else was here, and fell back against his pillow. A few hours went by, and Starflight started to feel restless. He knew that he had to relax, but his mind was bored. Fatespeaker woke up and yawned, then looked over at Starflight.
“Your awake!” She whispered.
“Hi.” Starflight replied. “How have you been?”
“Me? I’ve been fine Starflight, besides worrying about you.” Fatespeaker replied.
“How was your trip?” Starflight asked
“I had fun.” Fatespeaker shrugged. “Met some hivewings, got worshipped a bit, then befriended a group of silkwings. Were going to be sending letters between each other now, so that’s cool.”
“Nice.” Starflight replied.
“How are you feeling?” Fatespeaker looked him over.
“It hurts, a lot, but not as bad as the volcano.” Starflight admitted. “But I just feel…. Bored? I don’t know.”
“Makes sense, the last few weeks were spent asleep, and now you have nothing to do.”
Farsight sucked in a breath and woke up, she smiled over at her son when she noticed he was awake.
“Hey, how are you feeling?”
“Fine.” Starflight replied. “As good as I can be in this situation.”
“Do you need anything?”
“Maybe something to read?”
Farsight nodded, and walked out of the room. Sunny mumbled in her sleep and nuzzled against Starflight. Fatespeaker looked over at her and smiled faintly.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, just… thinking a bit about the future.”
Starflight stiffened. “Oh.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Fatespeaker shrugged. “Everything is okay.”
Starflight nodded. Thorn chose this moment to walk into the room.
“Hey.” She smiled at him. “Glad to see you awake.”
Starflight laughed. “So am I.”
“Listen, while she’s asleep, I wanted to say thank you for saving her.”
“No need, she’s the most important thing to me.” Starflight replied.
“And you are to her. You can see what she’s gone through. It’s no worse than you of course, but it’s still been hard for her.”
Starflight nodded, holding her close. Thorn smiled and reached over to her daughter. She nuzzled Sunny lightly, before walking out of the room. Starflight waited for a while, before Glory and Clay joined them. Sunny was still in deep sleep, Mastermind and Fatespeaker had left to get food for them.
“Hey.” Clay hugged Starflight.
“Hi.” Starflight replied.
“We were worried about you, what were you doing?” Glory spoke.
“I saw a strange seawing, and he planted a bomb, so I yelled at everybody to run but it was too late for Sunny and I.”
Glory shook her head. “You couldn’t have just… ran?”
“Glory, stop that, what happened, happened.” Clay told her. “He jumped in between Sunny and a bomb, you need to leave him be.”
Glory softened, and looked over at Starflight. “I’m… sorry, he’s right, you saved her, and almost died.”
Starflight looked between the two. “Hey, are we done with this, ‘Your alive!’ stuff and move on to me being bored out of my mind.”
Glory looked surprised. “What?”
“I’m still alive! And able to move around, as long as I stay here, what am I supposed to do for two weeks?”
Clay chuckled. “I can bring you new foods to try.”
Glory sat there, stunned. “Uh….”
“Fatespeaker and Farsight are choosing some scrolls to read. You guys can just hang out if you want.”
“I’ll grab us something to eat, then we can relax.” Clay said, before leaving the room.
“So…” Glory shuffled from forepaw to forepaw.
“How are the tribes?” Starflight asked.
“They’re…. fine, just busy, as usual.” Glory replied awkwardly.
“And Deathbringer?”
Glory blushed. “I… yeah, were getting married soon.”
“Congrats.” Starflight smiled.
Glory paused. “When did this happen?”
“What?”
“When did this become awkward? I don’t like how we’re like this. We’re supposed to be best friends, inseparable, but I feel out of place. I wonder if Tsunami will feel the same when she takes over the sea kingdom.”
Starflight looked surprised. “I… uh, don’t know.”
“I know it’s me, but I wish we hung out more.” Glory sighed.
“Oh, Glory.” Sunny spoke, looking over at her. Tears were forming in her eyes. “I’m so sorry you feel that way.”
“It’s okay Sunny, the rest of you have been here, it’s my fault really.” Glory replied.
“It’s really not, we should have been trying harder. You’re not that far.”
“I have Deathbringer, he does as much as he can to keep me company, he does way too much to keep me happy.” Glory replied.
Clay walked in, carrying a wide assortment of foods. Farsight and Fatespeaker were right behind him.
“Where’s Tsunami?” Starflight asked.
“She hasn’t come back yet, but Michael says they’re okay.” Clay told him.
“Now let’s have some fun, relaxing fun.” Farsight replied.
A few weeks earlier
_ _
Tsunami approached a large city, it was completely underwater, and Tsunami marveled at the size of the place, and how many seawings must be living inside of it.
Do you think they will speak the same aquatic as us? Riptide asked.
Tsunami froze, she hadn’t thought of that.
I hope so. She replied.
They swam up to the main entrance, where two large guards bared down at them.
Where are your credentials? One of them flashed.
We don’t have any, where from a different tribe. Tsunami told them
The guards rose their spears and pointed them at the visiting seawings.
Which tribes do you ally with, Sunwings or Lightwings?
Uhm, neither? Tsunami replied.
The guards looked confused. You’re from an unallied?
We don’t even know what you’re talking about. Riptide told them
What is your purpose here? The other guard flashed.
I am Princess Tsunami of the Pyrrhia Seawing Kingdom. I am here to meet with your queen regarding an important matter. Tsunami stood tall.
Princess?
Future queen, in fact. Tsunami replied.
And are you her guard? The guard turned to Riptide.
Guard, future husband. Riptide smirked.
One of the guards pulled a rope, and another guard walked through the doors.
Alert the queen, we have visitors that claim to be royals.
The new guard nodded, and swam back through the door. After a few hours, a group of guards swam forward and led Tsunami and Riptide into a large room. After a few minutes, a sole seawing swam into the room and sat down in a seat.
Alright, now I need an explanation about who you to are, and if I think your lying, we will have to execute you. The seawing told them. My name is Foam, lets began.
Hi Tsunami sat down in front of her. My name is Tsunami, daughter of Queen Coral of the Pyrrhia Seawing Kingdom. This is Riptide, my fiancé. Were here to ask for the Water Staff.
The what?
Oh, you would know it as the cursed staff of the royal vault.
That? What would you want with that?
We need it to beat an evil dragon that is trying to destroy an entire continent.
Foam sat there, stunned. Uh… okay. You said the Pyrrhia Seawing Kingdom? I’ve never heard of it before.
It’s really far away, it took us a week just to swim straight here.
How can you prove that you are royalty?
Tsunami stopped and thought for a moment. Other than my pearls, usually my florescent scale shape is well known, but you wouldn’t recognize it. I have a really long backstory, involving my egg being stolen, and a really long war.
Don’t we all? Foam smirked.
There Isn’t anything else I can say to prove myself. Tsunami replied.
Foam thought for a moment. Well, I will have to speak with the queen. She is quite busy, so it might take a few days. For now, you will be restricted to a special building. You will be given food and entertainment.
Riptide sighed, and they were led to a comfortable room. The door closed and locked behind them, and Tsunami looked around.
So… what now? She asked.
Riptide smirked I think I might have a few ideas.
Tsunami rolled her eyes. Alright… let’s go.
