"One final check," I say to myself. Everything was perfect; I tested it many times and went over the theory. Time travel was possible. I start cackling to myself. One advantage of being a hyena was that I took naturally to mad scientist laughter.

"They think they can push me around all day? Well, they have another thing coming." I get flashes of my family and peers all pushing me around. Just because I was the runt of the litter. "Well, we will see who gets the last laugh when I set things in motion to become ruler of the world!" I let out another cackle.

The plan was brilliant and simple: I would manipulate events through time to be worshiped as a god. Then I came back home to a world that worshiped the ground I walked on. I start getting my equipment in order. First the portable time device, next the stun blaster in case of trouble. Finally, my provisions creator to have anything I need no matter how long I stay.

I fire it up and experience time travel myself for the first time. It felt like I was being flown through the air as I'm pulled one way.

I finally landed in the distant past and noticed something wrong; everything was much bigger than I expected! I was smaller than a pebble! How could this be? What did I overlook? Something about the time-traveling process causing some kind of shrinkage based on time dilation? Everything tested it on and returned seemed fine. So maybe I got it backwards, and everything grew because of my trip? I went to the dawn of man, so things shouldn't be this much different.

I was lost in my thoughts and didn't notice the shaking and loud booming sound until it was too late. I look up and see a proto-canine seeming to look for food. He hadn't noticed me, so I backed up. At this size, he was bigger than a mountain to me! I needed to get out of here. I check my time device, and it needs more time to charge before another trip. It was much easier to send something from my lab because my station didn't have as many limitations.

The proto-canine man had no clothes and was mostly just covered in random bits of grass. The head of his cock was bigger than my whole body. I didn't try using my stun blaster because it wouldn't even have enough energy to work on someone this big. I try to get some distance as I watch him stiff around looking for anything.

This peace doesn't last long, as he steps forward more. His huge paws are threatening to stomp on me. I keep running and trying to use the time device again. It's almost ready! The clock ticks as his next step will be right on me. I press the activation button rapidly as the foot is ready to slam down. Only a split second before the paw makes contact with me do I escape.

I returned home, back to normal, and my heart pounded as I faced my impending fate. I lock up my inventions and sit back down, catching my breath. "You know, maybe I should just make a shrink ray or something." I say, as I'm already plotting my next move for my revenge.
