EVIL DOESN'T DIE BOOK ONE CHAPTER SEVEN.
So, we've finally made it to the second to last chapter of this book. It's been a long, stressful ride for me to even just get this chapter finished. Hopefully, the contents of this chapter will leave you all shocked. But then, when you're writing about the supernatural, it's somewhat hard not to get shocked by what you read. Anyways, to recap chapter six: Ariel and Eric went to Washington, D.C. to kill a ghost. If you read the last chapter, then you probably already know that they succeeded. Now that I'm done with this, it's time to officially kick off this chapter. So, ladies and gentle-furs, sit back, drink a beer, clear your glasses, because this chapter officially starts right now. And as always, thanks to Nex_Canis for editing this chapter.
For the first time in 11 years
Ariel returns home to confront his
Demons for the last time.
Location: Brooklyn, New York. Date: May 6th, 3017. 11 years before the series officially started.
Ariel's mother, Elizabeth, glanced up at a clock, as she read her book. It had been a long day for her. She had been busy planning for Ariel's birthday, and she was quite pleased with herself once she finished._ Everything's ready for when Ariel gets home. I can't wait, as I'm sure he can't, to celebrate his birthday. _After seeing that it was well past 2 in the afternoon, Elizabeth put down her book, and headed over to her bedroom to freshen up. As she changed her clothes, Elizabeth heard a strange noise come from the living room. Pursing her lips, she wondered what the source of the noise was. After a minute, she shrugged her shoulders, and went finished putting on the rest of her clothes. Once she was finished, she walked back to the living room, and sat down on the couch. She was just about to continue reading her book, when she suddenly felt furry paws wrap around her neck. As soon as she felt those paws, instinct set in. She reached into her blouse, and took out a small knife. Fast as lightning, she raised the knife, and embedded it in the paws of her attacker. The owner of the paws, a wolf, let out a startled howl, and took his paws off Elizabeth's neck.
As soon as she felt those paws leave her neck, Elizabeth sprang to her feet, and turned to face her attacker. She was surprised when she realized that she knew just who the wolf was. "Asmodeus. I thought I killed you five years ago." Exclaimed Elizabeth, shocked at the appearance of what she had assumed was a dead demon.Asmodeus smiled, showing his teeth as he laughed inwardly at Elizabeth's shock. "You never killed me, my dear. I manage to escape. Who you killed was just a clone I created." Elizabeth narrowed her eyes as she regarded the demonic wolf. "Why are you here? Is it for revenge? Are you going to kill my son?" asked Elizabeth as she got into a fighting stance. Asmodeus chuckled evilly, and then said, "My dear, I wouldn't want to kill your son. I need him to be alive for the moment that he will always remember." Asmodeus smiled, and then pounced. Elizabeth, caught off guard by the sudden movement, fell back, and landed on the floor. She immediately began struggling, but Asmodeus quickly subdued her. "Now then, I'm sure you remember this from my other victims, right Elizabeth?" asked Asmodeus as he brought his muzzle down to Elizabeth's neck. Elizabeth let out a small gasp as she felt the wolf's teeth pierce her skin, and plunge into her jugular vein. As soon as Asmodeus tasted her blood, he greedily began to suck it out. Elizabeth would have been sucked of all her blood in less than ten minutes, had it not been for Ariel entering the living room. "What the hell are you doing?!!? Get the fuck away from my mom." Shouted the six year old boy. Asmodeus took his muzzle off Elizabeth's neck, and turned to look at Ariel. The demonically possessed wolf smiled at the six year old boy, then ran towards the window. Without a second thought, Asmodeus crashed through the window, sending glass falling to the floor, and was soon running away. Don't worry Ariel, we will meet again. And when we do, I will let you know a secret that your mother has kept from you for six years. Smiling evilly, Asmodeus took off his shirt, and unfurled a large set of bat wings on his back. After making sure that no one was watching, the demon took off into the air, laughing maniacally.
11 years later. August 9th, 3028. Location: Brooklyn, New York. Ariel's former house. Time: 5:42 p.m
In front of the remains of Ariel's house, a black Camaro pulled up into the driveway. After reaching the end of the driveway, the car stopped, and its engine was shut off. Two minutes passed by, and there was no other sound, or movement from the car. Then suddenly, the driver side, and front passenger side doors opened. To any watching neighbors, they were treated to the sight of a boy that they hadn't seen in over 10 years, as Ariel stepped out of the car. Pausing for a moment, Ariel looked around at his surroundings, and breathed in the familiar Brooklyn air. Letting his breath out slowly, Ariel slipped on his shades, and turned to look at his lion friend, Eric. The lion looked at him, and nodded his head slowly. Nodding back, Ariel took one more deep breath, and took out his trusted Glock pistol. Taking the magazine out, Ariel checked to see that it was fully loaded, then slipped it back in once he was satisfied that it was. With a look of determination on his face, Ariel slipped the gun into his back pocket, and then closed the door to his car. Eric followed suit, and asked Ariel what his intentions were. It took a moment for Ariel to respond, but once he did, his voice was full of determination, and anger. "This week, is the week that I finally kill the bastard responsible for the death of my mother, uncle, aunt, and your sister. And I plan on doing it, even at the cost of my life." With those words, Ariel walked up to the remains of what once was his front door, and walked into his former home.
Location: The Subway Tunnels of New York. Time: 5:51 p.m.
Deep in the Subway Tunnels of New York, Asmodeus was sitting Indian style on train track of an abandoned subway line. The demonically possessed wolf's eyes were closed, and his breathing was even. One of the wolf's ears twitched as he heard a noise come from a place he knew well. His eyes still shut, Asmodeus smiled as he realized that Ariel had finally come home. The prodigal son returns. Humph. Now it's only a matter of time before our first and final showdown. I've been waiting for this moment all my life. And now, Elizabeth's son has finally made my dream come true. _Still smiling, Asmodeus took a deep breath, enjoying the smell of dead bodies, the subway, and the rats running around the tunnels. Nodding slightly, Asmodeus finally opened his eyes, and let their true color be known. In a matter of seconds, his eyes went from normal, to a demonic black. As soon as his eyes finished their change, Asmodeus got up from the ground, dusted himself off, and put on some clothing. Once he was fully clothed, Asmodeus threw his arms out to his sides, and his wings unfurled from his back. Grinning, the demonically possessed wolf raised his arms to cover the top of his head, and then leapt straight up into the air. The wolf's wings held him a loft as he crashed through the brittle ceiling of the subway tunnel, and out into the street. As soon as he reached street level, Asmodeus folded his wings, and gazed around. He was immediately greeted by the sight of a homeless rat fur, staring at him in awe. Snickering, Asmodeus lifted his right paw, twisted the fingers into a strangling position, and then twisted his wrist sharply to the left. The wolf smiled as he watched the homeless rat's neck twist to the left, and heard the crunch of broken bones as the rat's neck snapped. _There's the end result of my battle with Ariel. Speaking of which, it's time for me to go meet the boy. Still chuckling, Asmodeus started walking towards the direction of Ariel's house.
Location: Ariel's former home. Time: 6:00 p.m
After watching Ariel walk into the house, Eric ran his paw through his mane, and let out a sigh. He hated to admit it, but for the entire drive from D.C. to Brooklyn, Eric had been worried about Ariel's mental state. The boy has finally gotten his chance to get his revenge. Unfortunately, this opportunity seems to have made him stop thinking rationally. He took out his gun in broad daylight, in front of a house that has no cover, and didn't seem to worry about it. Besides that, he also killed every cop that stopped us for the speeding he was doing. Who does that kind of thing? Shaking his head to clear it of those thoughts, Eric went to the trunk of the Camaro, opened it, and took out his bag, and Ariel's. After doing so, the lion closed the trunk, and walked over to his friend's house. Before walking in, he looked up at the second floor, and noticed Ariel walking around. Briefly wondering what the boy was doing up there, Eric shrugged, and stepped into Ariel's house. As soon as he stepped inside, he was hit with the smell of rotting wood, roaches, rats, and underneath it all, the smell of a decomposed body._ That dead body smell must be from Ariel's dead mother. I really feel for Ariel. Losing your mother like that, that's just horrible._ Dropping their bags on the floor, Eric raced up the stairs, and into the second floor hallway. Pausing at the top step to catch his breath, Eric looked at all the closed doors ahead of him, and tried to guess which one had Ariel behind it. After a second, Eric walked up to the first door, opened it, and stepped inside. He was fortunate enough to find Ariel behind the first door.
Eric regarded the room he had entered, and was surprised to find the walls covered up with pictures of wrestlers, and music artists. Raising his eyebrows, Eric regarded each piece of Ariel's early childhood, awestruck that the boy, who owned all those posters, was the same boy in the room with him._ The death of someone close to you can really do a number on someone. I can't believe that Ariel used to like this stuff._ Eric was interrupted from his thoughts when he heard Ariel speaking to him. "I'm sorry Ariel, but can you repeat what you just said?" asked Eric, slightly embarrassed at being caught ignoring the boy. Ariel let out a sigh, and repeated what he said. "I bet you're trying to figure out how I went from a six year old boy who liked wrestling and music, to a 17 year old who works for the F.H.B.I. and NCIS, and is not afraid to kill in order to get a job done." Eric looked at Ariel, a little unsure of how to respond. Fortunately, Ariel saved him the trouble of having to decide. "It's been eleven years since I was last in my room. The day after my mother died, I found myself in my uncle's house. I had gone their, following my mother's dying request, and had gone to sleep immediately after entering the house." Ariel let a hollow laugh escape from his mouth as he remembered the moment. "Anyways, from the moment I woke up, my uncle started training me on how to kill the supernatural. From my second day as a six year old, all the way until I was seven, my uncle trained me. I caught on quickly, and was soon able to out do my uncle." Ariel paused for a moment as memories of moments when he killed supernatural creatures before his uncle even knew about them, started playing through his head. Shaking his head, Ariel continued what he had been saying. "From the age of seven, till today, I've been ruthlessly killing every supernatural creature I've come across. Along the way, I've had relationships with several women. None of those lasted. Every female I got involved with, was soon killed by something supernatural. I soon stopped dating, and just focused on killing." Ariel snickered as he recalled the memories of people he had killed, and the supernatural creatures he had killed. Eric could only looked at Ariel, slightly unnerved at what he was currently hearing. Before Ariel continued speaking, he walked over, and sat down in the spot where his old bed used to be. He motioned for Eric to do the same.
Eric quickly went over to the spot, and sat down next to Ariel, his legs only a half foot away from Ariel's. As soon as Eric sat down, Ariel started his narration again. "Before you came along, I'd been killing a lot of people who got in my way during a hunt. During that time, I built up a barrier in my mind that closed off the memories of the deaths of all those people. Hell, I even started to become a smartass, and used comedy as a way to cope." Before he could continue, Ariel was interrupted by the feeling of Eric's paw around his hand. Ariel glanced down at the paw on his hand, enjoying the feeling that it was sending up his spine. Smiling, Ariel started speaking again. "That was five years of killing the supernatural and regular people. Then, I learned that I was a great hacker. That led to NCIS and the F.H.B.I. giving me a job in a department that was not well known. They let me work in their supernatural department. That explains why the trunk of my car is loaded with all those weapons. They're 'bonuses.' Anyways, four years later, I tried dating again," as Ariel said that, he shuddered at the images that his mind conquered up. Oh those dates sucked, thought Ariel as he cringed at the memories. Noticing how uncomfortable Ariel was, Eric put an arm around the boy's shoulders, and brushed his tail up and down Ariel's spine. Ariel flashed Eric a grateful smile, and continued his story. "Yeah, those dates never ended well. And the one that did, I never met the girl again. The reason, I had sex with her, and got her pregnant. I know, because my bosses are paying child support." As he heard Ariel admit that he had gotten a girl pregnant, Eric couldn't help but feel disappointed. He had been hoping that Ariel would tell him that he loved him, but apparently that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. The lion lifted up his ears as he heard Ariel speaking again. "....then, I finally met you. I was on my way to kill that werewolf in Westchester, when you crashed into my car. As soon as I saw you, I knew you could be someone I could hang with during my hunts. And now, it's been three months since we first met, and I need to tell you two things Eric. The first thing is, remember that werewolf I mentioned?" As soon as Eric nodded his head in confirmation, Ariel brought his left hand up in front of him, and started concentrating.
Within minutes, dark black fur started sprouting from his skin, and the nails on Ariel's hands started falling off. Eric could only watch in shock as he watched the bleeding tips of Ariel's fingers get replaced with sharp claws. Ariel let out a small gasp as he felt the bones in his left hand start to shift around. He watched as his fingers decreased slightly in length, and turned into hand-paws. Still concentrating, Ariel felt his forearm grow bigger as muscle upon muscle replaced his. Finally, after a full minute, the finale of the transformation of Ariel's arm came. A thick calloused pad started growing in the palm of his hand, turning a deep black color once it finished filling out. As soon as the pad was fully grown, Ariel cut off the transformation, and was left with the arm of a werewolf. Eric just stared at the arm, trying to comprehend what he had just seen._ The guy I hunt the supernatural with, was turned into something supernatural, thought Eric as he tried to reboot his brain. After a minute of failure, Ariel finally did it for him, by smacking him in the face. As he slowly came back to reality, Eric noticed that the hand Ariel had used, was the one he had transformed, and that it was now back to normal. "So, you're a werewolf. Can you make your cock transform into that of a werewolf's?" asked Eric suggestively. Ariel raised his eyebrows, shocked at what he just heard. Oh this definitely makes this next thing I'm going to tell Eric, an even better piece of news._Smiling, Ariel opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off when he heard a loud bang come from downstairs. A minute later, the blood in both Ariel's, and Eric's bodies turned to ice as they heard a voice they were all too familiar with. "Ariel! Where are you?!?! It's time for us to officially meet." shouted Asmodeus. Gritting his teeth, Ariel reached into his back pocket, and took out his gun. Strangely, instead of getting up, and walking out of his room with it, Ariel took the gun off the safety, and gave it to Eric. When the lion looked at him, questioning his decision to give up the gun, Ariel just told Eric to trust him. Nodding, Eric got up, and Ariel followed suit. Looking at his friend, and hunting partner of three months, Ariel asked Eric one question, "Are you ready to meet the demon responsible for what we do?" Ariel was satisfied and happy when Eric gave him a brisk nod. Smiling, he signaled for the both of them to exit the room, and go downstairs.
Two minutes later, both Ariel and Eric were back on the first floor. Before they walked over to where they thought Asmodeus' voice was coming from, Ariel told Eric to go around back and to stay hidden. His explanation being that he wanted to face Asmodeus alone. Eric nodded, and started walking to where Ariel told him to go. As Ariel watched the lion walk away, he let out a heavy sigh. _I was finally going to give Eric some much needed good news, but Asmodeus decided that now would be a good time to make his presence known. Fuck my life. _Shaking his head, Ariel turned to face the direction of Asmodeus' voice, closed his eyes, and mentally prepared himself for his official meeting with Asmodeus. After ten minutes, Ariel opened his eyes, took off his gloves, and walked over to where he heard his enemy. He was surprised to find out that Asmodeus was in the same room that he had witnessed his mother die. The boy snickered, recalling the phrase, 'it ends where it begins.' Ariel entered the room, and almost immediately, saw Asmodeus, who was standing with his furry back facing Ariel. The demonically possessed wolf's right ear twitched as he heard Ariel enter the room. An evil smile crept up his lips as Asmodeus heard Ariel stop a few feet away from him. Turning around, Asmodeus regarded Ariel with what looked like happiness in his eyes. "Hello Ariel. It's been a while." Ariel nodded his head in agreement to what Asmodeus said. "It has been a while Asmodeus. You know why I'm here right?" Asmodeus nodded his head in response to Ariel's question. Ariel smiled warily at Asmodeus, and raised his hands in front of him.
Asmodeus pursed his lips as he watched Ariel's movements. "So, you've come to kill me. Quite frankly, I don't care if I die. But, the battle is not going to happen here. I'd rather fight somewhere with more room." Ariel nodded in agreement, his mind already starting to list places in Brooklyn that he could finally enact eleven years of revenge. A light bulb lit up on top of his head as an idea hit him. "You're right Asmodeus. Our final battle shouldn't be here. It should be in the school yard of Franklin D. Roosevelt High School." Not agreeing right away, Asmodeus considered the area that Ariel mentioned. He thought about all the pros and cons, and finally agreed. "We'll do battle there. Two nights from today." Asmodeus stuck out his hand, and waited for Ariel to shake it to confirm their deal. Ariel didn't waste any time. He immediately grabbed Asmodeus' hand, and shook it, sealing their deal. Letting go of Ariel's hand, Asmodeus turned around, and unfurled his wings. Before he flew away, he let Ariel in on a little secret. "By the way Ariel, I suggest you go look at your feline friend. He's in need of some medical help." Laughing manically, Asmodeus leapt up into the air, and flew out of Ariel's house, and into the night sky.
As soon as Asmodeus told him that Eric was in trouble, Ariel's face was drained of its color. He quickly ran out of the room, and started calling out Eric's name. "ERIC!!!! Where are you?!?!?!?!" He kept repeating the same question again and again, until he heard a loud groan come from the kitchen. Ariel quickly ran into the kitchen, and he let out a gasp as he saw something he had been afraid of for four months. Eric was lying in a pool of blood, which was coming from a deep gash in his chest. No no no!! Not again. Not another one. Ariel quickly ran over to Eric's semi-conscious body, and started placing pressure on the lion's chest. Eric looked up at Ariel as he watched the boy try to stop the flow of blood coming from his chest. "Ari...Ar.....Ariel, As...modeus got me. He....did.....it....while.....I.....was...trying....to find....a...place....to hide...." Instead of answering, Ariel shushed the lion, as he worriedly looked at the blood seeping through his fingers. What am I gonna do? I don't think I can save him. Scared, Ariel took his hands away from Eric's chest, used them to take off his shirt, and tore it into strips. Taking some of the strips, and wrapping them around his hands, Ariel put his hands on Eric's chest again. By that time, so much blood had poured out of Eric's chest; the lion was starting to slip in and out of consciousness. Come on lion, come on!!! Ariel's face was frozen in fear as the blood from Eric's chest soaked through the strips of shirt he had on his hands.
After another five minutes of trying to stabilize Eric, a moment Ariel wasn't expecting, finally happened. The lion looked up at Ariel with a small smile on his lips, and, using what was left of his strength, got raised his upper torso enough to be able to bring his head close to Ariel's. In a moment that shocked him, Eric kissed Ariel, smack dab on the lips. The shock from being kissed left Ariel with his lips wide opened. Eric seized the opportunity to stick his tongue into Ariel's mouth, and started tasting it. After overcoming the shock of being kissed, Ariel closed his eyes, and started returning the kiss. His tongue wrestled around with the lion's own sandpapery one, as both he, and Eric moaned into each others mouths. After a full minute, Eric finally pulled away from Ariel, and smiled. "Yo...you....finally got to kiss.....somebody....without having to fix your....jaw. And...it...looks......like.....you're.....gay......after......all. And it seems... that you actually liked Me." gasped Eric. As the last word went past his lips, Ariel nodded in agreement, tears in his eyes. "You're right Eric. I was going to tell you that I wanted to be your boyfriend, but it looks like there's no need now." Ariel let out a hollow laugh, and so did Eric. With tears in his eyes, Ariel took his hands away from Eric's chest, and sat down next to the lion. Eric watched Ariel as he moved, glad that he finally found himself a boyfriend, for however brief a time. Ariel took Eric by the paw, and squeezed it as he watched the life drain away from the lion's eyes.
After ten minutes of sitting next to Eric, Ariel felt the lion's paw go limp in his hand. Tears in his eyes, Ariel turned to look at the lion's face, and was able to confirm that Eric was dead. Softly crying, Ariel gently closed Eric's eyes, and got up from the floor. Reaching down, Ariel picked up the lion's lifeless body, and started walking back up to his old bedroom. Once he was inside, Ariel gently placed the lion's body on the floor, then turn to his wall. Glancing briefly at the posters he had hanging up, Ariel tore them down, and set them up to form a rectangle. Once he was finished, Ariel turned towards Eric's body, and quickly rolled him onto the posters. As soon as he had the lion on the posters, Ariel left his room, and returned five minutes later with a blanket. With tears in his eyes, he gently placed the blanket on top of Eric's body, making sure to cover the lion's head as he did so. Taking in a shuddering breath, Ariel sat down next to the lion's body, placed his head on his knees, and started to cry softly.
What did I say? I told you that the ending of the first book of this series would be split into two chapters. I also said that this chapter would have a shocking twist to it. I delivered on both accounts. Now y'all are going to be left wondering what's going to happen next. That means I'm doing my job as an author. Anyways, constructive criticism is welcomed, non-constructive criticism isn't welcomed. You know the reasons why. Now, I bid you all good day!
