Warm summer winds rustled the curtains, making nerve racking shadows in the moonlight on the floor. The howls calling throughout the wooded valley did not aid the soft skinned Richard in his sleep, his long brown hair drenched in a nervous sweat, dangling about his strong beardless jaw. He rolled over beneath his gray washed sheets, his grayish blue eyes looking around in confusion, feeling lost because he was living in such a new place, never having his own room before. In his old home, he had to share a room with his three brothers. When he was finally able to calm down, he suddenly noticed something shining on the floor. Giving off a relieved sigh, he reached out to the silver cross on the wooden planks and tugged at its silver chain. Wrapping it around his rough working hand with the calices and sores, he observed his mother's pendant, favoring it with his thumb and naturally polishing the rough symbol of Christ. There was a flicker in the corner of his eye and he turned his head. Without hesitation, he leapt out of bed, grabbing hold of his father's old pistol with the single shot. Pinning himself against the wall, his chest rose and fell as he aimed at the window with a shaky hand, just in time to see the shadow of...something...fade away. The only thing he was sure of was that it wasn't human.

Mustering his courage, Richard eased his way towards the end of his bed, grabbing hold of his trousers and slipping them on. His warn night shirt stuck to his body because of his nervous sweat as he fumbled to get his belt with the holstered knife around his waist. When he nearly crawled to the windowsill, he waited moments before standing up to take aim with the pistol. He saw a shadowy figure standing creeping along the wooden walls of his home, making its way towards the hanging laundry out back. Richard pointed, but then froze, seeing the naked boy struggling to pull at the clothes. It was easy to see him because his bronze skin and long, black hair stood out in the pale moonlight. Like him, the boy seemed to have a muscular farmer's build, but he sported a thin patch of hair between his rear. It was only when the boy grabbed the brown leather leggings Richard's father had given him for his birthday did he lean half way out of his window and whisper-shouted, "Hey...!" As the thief turned to run, Richard hesitated, deciding if he should wake his father for help. Choosing to handle it on his own like a man, he placed his feet on the windowsill before lunging for the nearest branch of the tree by his window. He came close to landing on his ass as he slid down its thick trunk, using the rough soles on his feet to slow himself down until his dirty toes touched the numerous roots at the bottom. Making his way over to the spot where the dark skinned boy stood, he leaned down and observed his footprints before following him into the woods. He was lucky; the thief left deep prints in the naturally wet earth.

The trees rushed by, both boys breathed heavily as they rushed through the thick, wet forest. Richard felt his lungs burn, the air pushing his tears back as he was forced to run his fastest to even keep up with the thief. For him, it was beyond words how nimble the boy was. Richard himself had been known to be one of the fastest in the school yards, but this stranger ran as naturally as an animal. It wasn't until the forest slowly turned into a swamp was he able to catch up. The thief's feet stuck in the mud, slowing him down until finally he was pulled to a halt. Throwing his hands up to catch himself, the leather leggings went soaring onto a dry patch as the boy plunged into a pit of mud. Richard caught himself last minute, falling to his side before sliding along a thinner patch of mud, passing by the thief struggling in the pit.

They both struggled with the mud but as he managed to get to his feet, Richard lunged at the thief, pinning him to his back and while getting a loose grip on his arms. The slick earth on their bodies made it a hard struggle for either boy. The thief finally managed to tuck his leg in and gave a sharp kick to Richard's stomach. He felt the air rush from his lungs as he was kicked back to the ground. But as the thief turned around and crawled back onto more solid earth, Richard was quick on his heels. Turning the boy over, Richard pulled his knife from its sheath, "You need to stop, now!" Richard rested on one knee, the knife ready to strike if need be.

As the stranger stumbled to his feet, Richard stood and ran forward, tackling him to the nearest tree. The thief finally settled when he felt the sharp blade of the knife pressed against his throat. "You need to settle!" Richard insisted, pressing his thumb against the dull edge of the blade. The boy glared at him, his back and palms pressed against the tree, his reddish brown eyes glowing in the moonlight. "Are you really going to threaten me over a pair of leggings?" he asked. Richard roughly pushed up against the thief, pulling back some and blushing when his leg brushed the boy's naked hooded shaft. "Those aren't just a pair of rags you ass!" He tried so hard not to look the boy over again. He hesitated as he said, "You know, you could've just asked for a pair of trousers. What are you doing...naked...anyway?"

The dark skinned boy gave a grin on the corner of his lips, catching Richard's downward glance, "I guess it's what people call circumstance?" Richard tilted his head in question, "What circumstances drove you naked?" he asked, his eyes unknowingly falling towards the boy's chest. The stranger turned his head towards Richard even as the knife was still being pressed against his throat. "How come you can't look me in the eyes?" Richard seemed taken back by the question, "What...?" He suddenly stepped back as the stranger stepped towards, moving the knife from the thief's throat to his stomach, "What are you doing? Stop it!" Richard's knees went weak as he felt the boy's rough hands touch his side. The stranger smiled, "I think you've fallen for me... what was your name?" Richard shook his head, "Richard, and I sure as Hell haven't fallen for you!" he said trying to look disgusted.

The thief's eyes flared a dark orange as he pressed his left palm to Richard's neck, "I really think you have..." The smith's son struggled, trying to pull away, shaking his head, feeling a little confused as he said, "Look, whoever you are..." He was cut short by the boy who pressed against him, groping his crotch as he pressed his lips against Richard's neck. As he licked his tongue along Richard's neck, he leaned towards the pale boy's ears as he uttered a moan, "My name's Victor and I think I'm glad I stole from you Richard..." Richard forgot about the knife in his hand as Victor came closer. "I...I..." he muttered, for once lost for words. But as he pressed into Richard, Richard felt shock fire through him as he watched Victor's jaw drop, his hands rushing to the handle of the blade pushed into his stomach.

As Victor dropped to his knees, Richard dropped with him to stop him from falling over, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!" Victor gave rasping breaths, finding it hard to breathe. He put his hand to Richards shoulder as the boy tried to help him up, "Just hold on, I'll take you back to town, they'll help you there!" Victor snarled, pressing his pointed nails against Richard's neck. His eyes glowed and his sharpest teeth pressed into his bottom lip, "No! Please! Don't take me back there!" he bellowed. Richard starred at Victor's freakish shifting face, "What are you?" Somehow, he wasn't scared. Victor growled in his throat, desperately trying to focus, but the blood flowing between the knife and his flesh made it extremely hard. The more he focused, the more his face slowly returned to normal, "Please...take me anywhere but a town..." Richard looked around, not really sure what to do so he just went with his gut. Grabbing the suffering boy's arm, he dragged him off the trail. "Please...not so fast!" Victor groaned, wincing as he held the blade still in his stomach.

The sun was coming up when Richard led Victor into the woods where the trees were closer together. A few steps in the thick wood there was a thick hill with windows and small chimney stacks sticking out of it. As Richard moved them around the hill, Victor finally realized that it was some sort of abandoned home, its door covered in dirty and the windows covered in webs and dust. "What is this place?" Richard grunted, "It's an old Irish hovel, been here forever my dad thinks."

The door was surprisingly loose on its metal hinges as it swung open. Both boys had to duck their heads as they moved into the old home. At first glance, it looked like a small two person family home, but as Richard pushed some old curtains to the side, he revealed a small dug out area, used as a small metal work shop. He helped Victor to the small table waiting for him. "What do you want me to do? It went all the way in..." Victor shook his head, "I'll be fine...just...take the knife out." Again, Richard tried not to glare at Victor's naked body as he looked at the knife in his stomach. Taking hold of its handle, he glanced at the boy to make sure he was ready, "Ready?" Victor gripped the table and nodded. Richard would make it quick, grabbing the handle with both hands and pulling...

As Victor lay there after a session of screams, he held tight to his bleeding wound, making sure to put pressure on it. Despite how much he was admiring the strange boy's looks, Richard feared what he might be. "What are you doing?" Victor demanded as Richard grabbed hold of his wrist, binding him to the wall with an old iron chain and a lock. The strange boy tugged at the chain already linked to the wall, deeply imbedded in the rock. "Are you just going to leave me here?" Victor asked desperately, tossing his head back to get the long, black, mud soaked hair out of his eyes. Richard shrugged pitifully with a frown on his face, "I don't know... I...I'll come back for you... I just really need to get home...its morning..." As he stumbled out the door, Richard heard the sounds of chain roughly being tugged, but it was muffled by the door when he shut it behind him.

Richard was huffing after running back to his home. His body ached as he climbed the tree to get back into his room without anyone suspecting he was gone. Just as his feet caked in mud touched the wooden floor, his door slammed open. It was his little brother Arthur who looked just like him except he had very short hair. As he stood there in his overalls and his long sleeved work shirt, he saw Richard covered in mud. "Did you go out last night?" Richard sighed, sucking through his teeth."Does father know?" Richard shook his head, "No, and I really need you to keep quiet about it...please...as a favor?" Arthur had a dumb look before slowly nodding his head, "Okay...but that's two now." As his little brother wandered back down the hall, Richard turned around and gazed out the window towards the spot he first saw Victor, "What are you Victor?" he groaned, running his palm over his dirty forehead.
