My Brother's Choice
________________________________________________________________________
A pair of happy faces slowly stepped Downstairs where Kodie sat a half-hearted smile on his face, his older brother teaseling him about something or another. Good old family parties, Leon thought, mustering up an acting routine that rivaled Broadway. "Buddies!" He exclaimed with open arms and a toothful grin. "Been too long. How you've been?" Miles looked over after giving his younger sibling a playful slap and met Leon's open arms with a loose hug. Kodie and Rues greeted in a similar fashion.
"Been killer hard man. Job sucks and I can't find a collage worth a damn." He told Leon patting him on the back in a friendly manner. After the bland pleasantries were out of the way the older cousin glanced to the little dragon pup. Something in his look felt as if the secret was revealed through some inexplicable twist of fate. Rues threw his stare to the carpet. "Hey Cuz, you're looking pale," He joked and took a few steps over the the pair of teenagers.
"Funnier every time." Leon muttered sensing the tension his sibling felt. His fingers were a dance of melancholy sadness and his tail a droopy dead weight. "Ugh, look at that," Leon huffed pulling out all the stops in his acting ability. "We're late for our tennis practice. Rues, all set?" A close save and he could see the appreciation on his brother's face. "Ummm, yeah. I got my stuff right here." He said lifting the duffle bag."Hmm, I don't think that you have all the right equipment there dude. Perhaps a trip to the mall is in order to pick out something to go with that?" Wow, Rues thought. Leon may have been acting with the rest of the family but here his words were so sincere, so loving. "I think that would be just great."
On the way to the door their mother called out, putting a knife into their plans. "Why don't your take your cousin with you two? I'm sure they'd like to go shopping with the birthday-boy." Degrading on so many levels thought Rues as Kodie and Miles consented with the idea. So as a group the all made their way outside and piled into the sea green station-wagon. Safely out of ear shot of their parents Leon let out a loud cuss. "Damn it!" Kodie jumped in his seat and Rues winced at his brother's angered mood. "What's wrong Cuz?" Miles asked from the backseat. Leon shook his head and started the motor it rumbled and sputtered around for a minute or two before quieting down to a normal tune.
"Today was going to be this great day between just me and Rues. We had everything planned out and thing after thing just keeps fucking it up." It was a brazen thing to say in their company, but it seemed to sting a lot less than what one would expect. Kodie tapped his brother on the shoulder and then the two exchanged whispers. "So, like, are you two an item or something?" Miles asked in place for his little brother. His face was completely straight, not a hint of joking in his voice. Both Leon and Rues turned on the spot to face the back seat, astonished at what they saw. There on the tan three person seat sat Miles and Kodie, cuddled side by side, one arm around a neck, one against a thigh.
"Shi..." Leon managed to mutter out. It gave a relive sense that their plight wasn't so strange and Rues chose to open his mouth first to explain, which was promptly shot down by Leon's explanation. "Yeah... we figured... ya' know, look can I get two seconds of privacy? It's not as simple as us being a pair."
"Sure," Miles agreed and stepped out of the car with Kodie. Rues could feel a hard lump in his throat, simply dying to have someone else know about their truer emotions. "Little br... Sister," Leon corrected himself attempting to make things seem a bit easier. "We have probably the best opportunity here that I know you've always wanted. Another couple who simply will not judge us. So until everything is said and all the cards are on the table, kindly keep that pretty little trap you call a mouth shut, Okay?" A little harsh but the message had sound logic and was said with the most loving little smirk.
Tapping on the window, Leon motioned the two boys back inside. "So, what's the deal?" Miles asked flicking cigarette ashes out the window. "Well Rues and I, Hey no smoking, are mates. Wanna' share the story, little whitey?" Leon said with a confident pat to the young dragon's leg.
"Bruderlien," Rues said with the sweetest smile Turning his attention to the strange couple of lovers in the back of the vehicle he tried to explain "I'm... only a girl with a boy's body." . Miles had to stifle a laugh but swallowed it when Kodie prodded his side. "That's beautiful" the youngest wolf said and looked to Miles, expecting some input too. "Okay, I don't care what you say, it gotta' be funny to watch you two go at it in the sheets. Tell me, Rues is your brother big?"
Leon tossed an empty coffee cup at his cousin and growled. "Like it's your business. Anyway, Today is Rues's birthday and my little SISTER wants to go dress shopping." Kodie couldn't help asking the obvious question. "So what's with the duffle bag then?"
With a skillful slid of paw, Rues opened the entire zipper and the black pleaded skirt tumbled out inbetween passenger side and driver's seat. "Dude, check it out. Doesn't your girlfriend wear that type of skirt?" Miles joked, picking on his little brother yet again. Silence feel between the two couples. Girlfriend? Leon thought and Rues gave a weird look at Kodie. Apparently Rues wasn't the only one with a secret. Seeing the confusion, Kodie decided to explain himself. "Before anybody says anything I'm Bi. I like the front and the back but it was never a serious relationship with her."
"Oh," the only response Leon could muster. "Sooooo... the mall then?" With all in favor, Leon drove off, Rues attempted a wardrobe change in the front seat. It was a little difficult but not entirely impossible.
Familiar landmarks passed by in the window and the awkwardness of the family reunion faded into a pleasant conversation. Minutes away from the parking lot MIles turned down the radio that had been turned on to help liven things up. "Okay, gonna' say this once and just once. This place, it's Rues's haven where he... -ahem- SHE can do anything she wants and say whatever comes to mind. No-one knows us way out here so it's complete ambiguity. Oh accept some chick in the urban store. Rues was feeling frisky and she let us make out in the dressing room."
With a smile Rues felt the need to interject. "That was kinda' obvious wasn't it?" A smile to match Leon replied with a huff. "Well I did kinda' slam you against the wall. Anyways be nice, don't start fights, and most of all look out for each other as a whole. If you see anyone who could spoil this little 'coup' then give a shout." The car slowed ot a stop beside the only other car in the lot, an ugly blue SUV, and the party climbed out almost in unison.
Once inside Miles and kodie parted towards the lower half of the mall and Rues twirled around, reveling in the chance to wear a skirt in public. "Hehehehe, look, it spins even after I stop!" Rues exclaimed watch the fabric wrap around his waist as he another spin started. "Whoow, now I'm dizzy..." Uproar came from Leon and he caught his sibling before Rues fell to the floor from the lack of balance. "Jeez, don't over do it we got all day ahead of us. Now come on, let's go get that dress." Fireworks in his shining eyes and a smile as wide as the horizon Rues stole a peck of a kiss as Leon helped the pup back up. It was enough to make the older brother blush and he slid a loving paw into Rues's grasp. "The girly store awaits."
Their pawsteps seemed to echo their joy as the two passed the concession kiosk. Warm smells greeted the two boys with happy memories and Rues tugged towards the stand. "I don't think so," Leon said knowing just what the little dragon pup was up. "We don't have the budget for us to buy whatever you see. Besides, we're here to get you a dress aren't we?"
"Oh, YES YES YES!!!" Rues exclaimed, each step literally a bounce into the air. To the few on-lookers it must have made quite a spectacle to see; this little white dragon bopping up and down like a tennis ball beside a taller brown wolf.
Nearing the fashion store a troublesome thought came across Leon's head. "Rues, wait." He said with concern in his voice. Turned the young dragon he looked deep into expecting eyes. "I don't want to crush your spirits and I know that this is a very touchy subject but... Well Rues do you know any gir... -ahem- any OTHER girl dragons?" It didn't seem to fully register what Leon was asking and Rues simply folded a set of disheartened paw infront of a nervous frame, expecting an explanation to the question.
"Rues, don't clam up now. I have to know. Don't umm, other girls have horns that aren't curled?" Dammit Leon thought as soon as the words left his mouth and he saw the painful disappointment form on his 'sister's' face, realizing what this meant. Surly the clerk of a fashion store for girls would be well enough versed in their job to be able to make that distinction. "I don't know..." came a tremble of a voice from beneath the down-turned head before Leon. "Look, forget I even said anything, if they give us crap, I'll give them hell. You have every right to feel like you belong." Leon announced grabbing hold of Rues's paw and lead them inside with a look of undying devotion in his eyes.
Smells of perfume hit them like a cement wall as the charged head-first into the tiny little store. The few patrons inside, a kitten and her mother made a glace at the odd parade and continued to try on hats. Making it to the center section of the shop, the cashier greeted them with an overzealous smile. "Hi there! How can I help you two." This was awkward, a rabbit with such a bubbly personality directly looking a wolf in the face. None the less it managed to help cheer Rues back up.
"Ima' looking for a dress... A pink one!" The colourless dragon exclaimed as Leon shot Rues a look at the mention of pink. "Well, I think I have just the right thing for you little cutie!" The creamy furred rabbit replied matching Rues's level of excitement. "This is gonna' be a long stop," Leon mumbled beneath his breath.
Merrily Rues let the Rabbit lead them over to an extensive section of dresses in practically every shape and design imaginable. Truly heaven, Rues thought and began pawing through a rack of mid-length formal wear. "Oh sweetie, you're not gonna' find what you're looking for in there. Here, we have something a little more up-beat right over here." Giggling Rues nearly skipped to the next rack over. Leon followed behind his fingers firmly in his pockets. "This is the one!" Rues exclaimed picking out a simple design and holding it tightly in snow-white arms. It was a simple design, the shoulders a little cupped and a white bow at the neck. It would reach just a little below Rues's knees but all in all, not to spectacular.
"Great" Leon thought and asked the price. Surprisingly affordable for such a well known brand-name store. The party returned to the cash-registor and Leon finished the transaction with a groan. "Gonna' havta' call it a day after lunch, Rues. We're getting dangerously low on spending funds here again. Why does this always happen when we go to the Mall together?"
Shrugging shoulders were the only reply and they started to leave the store. "Hey hold up there you two, don't you want to wear the dress out of the store?" Lights exploded in the dragon's dreamy gaze and a heartbeat became audible. A helpful rabbit gladly showed them to a changing room and Leon nearly stepped inside too. "Hold-up their cow-boy. Limit one per room." Damn, caught in the act the wolf joked in his head. "I was just gonna' help, Rues has trouble getting things around the horns."
"Well it would be a shame to see the dress rip, go right in." Service with a smile huh? More like somebody needs to switch to decaf. Inside the cramp box of a changing room the sound-system speakers were notably louder than in the actual store. "Hey Leon, they got it turned up really loud in hear."
"Yeah they do," He replied putting his arms around the little body infront of him stealthfully. Murrs of enticement as the tank-top was discarded. "Bet you know why we really both came in here." Rues giggled. "Well I doubt it has much with getting me dressed in my new clothes."
"Aww, come off it. Can't your boyfriend slip your clothes off without us needing to screw?" Sarcasm, as usual, was thick in his voice and Rues felt the skirt fall to the floor. "Though you have given me quite a situation here. Just how exactly would you get any action in the front? I mean do you still want..." A pause in the flow of the day and they stood in the embrace. "I dunno', Leon. I've been thinking and it's not like I exactly hate being a boy... But let's wait until we get back home to figure that out, okay." The statement was strange for the over-tone of Rues's feelings, rather unexpected. It almost declared that sex was a sure thing upon their arrival back home, helping to ease the tension. Slowly the older sibling drew his arms away and nodded. "Miss bunny will probably get suspicious anyway so let's hurry this up and get you all dressed up."
A short time later they emerged, Rues closely tailing behind the wolf, each of them wearing a smile as the little pup displayed the new dress he was wearing. "Come on little dope I think it's time for a pretzel." With a grin as large as the ocean Rues eagerly nodded at Leon caving to the wishes for a costly snack. But the smiling face faded after realizing what Leon had just said. "Wait, don't call me that!" Of course it struck the brown wolf as simply hilarious that it took so long for Rues to hear the insult mixed in.
"Chill mister whitey," Leon shot back with a smile of his own that faded as soon the comment was utterd. It came out abrasive, almost uncaring until apologetically Leon mumble out something of a 'I'm sorry.' Almost enough to put a damper on the joyful tone of the day, almost. Fortunately Rues knew the old nicknames weren't going to be easy to fade. "Es isst gute brüderlein, I know things are gonna' be weird for you a while." Well at least the little pup was being forthright with all this change. Conveniently the conversation went unheard even to the longed eared clerk behind them. A wave goodbye ended the little excursion in the infamous 'girly' store.
As the two siblings emerged back into the main hallway the heard the familiar sounds of Kodie's whining coupled with Miles's belittlement. It was coming from only a few stores down and with an empty mall it would be impossible to miss that racket. "Damn, they're at it again," Leon chuckled and lead the little pup in the direction of the fussing family members.
"Well I don't wanna' do that here, people will find out." argued an irate little wolf to his older brother as Leon approached. "Get over it, we're here to have fun. What could be more fun than that?" Miles shot back. From the look on Rues's face, the argument had went over his head. Leon, however, knew exactly what it was about. "Better to do it home than here." The one teenager interjected being the voice of reason and both cousins turned to face him. Kodie mumbled something of an 'I told you so' and Miles ruled his eyes.
"Yeah, right. Like you the draggy pup haven't tried getting busy in public." the oldest timber wolf laughed and a smear of blush appeared under Rues's ice white fur. Truthfully, they never went beyond oral and that was a very abbreviated interaction Miles clearly had a full day of naughtiness in mind, his pant's only helped prove it.
"Hey, you have a boner." came a humorously timed observation as the last member rejoined the party stating the most obvious thing about his older cousin. All faces went silent and the three wolves turned towards the little dragon pup, disapproval in his brother's eyes. "Tell the world, why don't ya?" Miles huffed, giving a quick scan of the all but deserted mall. Luckily no one else was around to hear the little slip of the tongue. Still it helped to cool the tone of the conversation. "Brat-face here won't do anything about it either. Says we'll get caught if we pulled a quickie in the bathroom."
That comment, coupled with the entire awkwardness of the moment was enough to help quell there cousin's elongated condition, but not the tension between him and Kodie. "It's a stupid Idea, Miles." whined an aggravated wolf pup, afraid of public humiliation at best. Still Kodie knew even with Leon's support it wasn't going to dissuade the hormones of a soon-to-be collage student.
"Look," Leon interrupted again, trying to make a compromise that fitted everyone's agenda. "Me and Rues are almost done shopping and the family will no doubt be off doing there own thing. Which means we'll have the house all to ourselves." Leaving it a little open-ended, Leon gave them the chance to formulate good ways to spend hours alone together in an empty house. All he had to do was hope his cousin Miles would be patient enough to wait through another forty-five minute car ride. After-all Miles wasn't the kind who liked to delay his gratification.
Shrugging shoulders and a general feeling of conscent from the two relatives, but Rues wasn't exactly done with the day at the mall. Tugging on his older siblings shirt, he whispered something into the timber wolf's perky ears. Apparently, said dragon wanted to actually visit the tennis courts.
Picking up on the friction to the well-planned scheme he was already forming in his crafty mind, the eldest wolf crossed his arms. "Was that an invite to take Kodie's place in the bathroom?" He sneered, pulling the conversation to an unfortunate direction. "Miles, watch it. Ruse beat the shit out of a yoked football player and today is about making 'her' happy. So I think you'd better apologize, NOW ." Tuning in on the unsettled atmosphere, Miles softened his face and lowered his rigid tail. It was wordless but the message was clear enough. Rues excepted it as the best such an ego like their cousin's could muster up.
With his eyes a little bit lowered, Miles coughed and put his paws beneath the rims of the denim pockets he was wearing. "So... Umm, birthday girl, whattya' wanna' do now?" He slurred out and Leon unclenched his fists. Exchanging his hopes about a round of sports Rues slunk a little closer to his brother, mostly for emotional support. It wasn't until after the fact of announcing it did he take the dress he was wearing into consideration. Sadly the fact dawned in Kodie's mind as well evident as the youngest wolf ran his dual coloured eyes over the pink outfit. So instead Rues quickly revised the plan to just simply more time at the mall. Afterall, Why take off something that felt so pretty so soon?
Together all three wolves and a shy little dragon in a dress meandered down each stretching corridor and hallway the mall had to offer. On occasion a stranger would pass by them offering up an unusual nod at the bewildering sight and then quickly hurry past. Once the team of misfit lovers had rounded the final corner a familiar location came into view. Blush as pink as flowers spread across Leon's face. He knew exactly what seeing the fountain would inspire such a whimsical dragon to do.
Not failing to disappoint, Rues grabbed his adopted brother's arm and yanked them toward the spewing watery display. In admiration and amusement the boy's cousins watched as Leon was lead along and then had an excited dragon maw work its way over every inch of the wolf's lips. Playing into the moment and ignoring the loud cheering from the on-lookers Leon took lead of the lip-lock and clench the fine silky white fur on Rues's head, pulling them even closer.
When lips left one another a new problem came to light. "Hey, umm, Rues, you have a ..." Leon was unable to finish his sentence and he motioned for Miles and Kodie to stay where they were. "Poor little dragon, got a little too worked up." The older brother murred in a droopy ear. He expected tearful eyes looking back at him with the reminder of 'unwanted' anatomy but instead a small smirk sprouted on Rues's face. Taking Rues back into his arms, he walked over towards the exit sign and motioned this time for Miles and Kodie to follow. Fortunately it wasn't too hard to hide and a bouncy stride took hold once more. "Come on guys let's get headed home now I have a great idea planned." promise a boyish face as two crystal blue eyes shined evanescently.
The entire walk to the car was on long attempt for Rues to explain just what life was like for him and how it felt to wear girly clothing. Yet by the time the fuzzy canine-like dragon was inside the vehicle he suddenly felt like changing out of his prized purchase. Laughter erupted from Miles and Kodie as he began to strip without warning while Leon's face became plastered bright red with shock. When he had finally redressed himself in the shorts their parents saw the boy leave in, Rues cupped two paws together, locking their fingers. Slowly with his eyes towards the floor and a flowing tail raising he made an honest request in a quite voice. "Leon, I would like to go back home and... cuddle you... while you're naked."
Miles and Kodie looked up and stifled their laughter the best they could. Not even preachy little Kodie was afraid of asking for sex by it's name. Hearing Rues dance around the three letter word was down right hilarious. "Sure." Leon replied in an understanding tone and then pulled out of the parking lot, taking the group of lovers back to the home.
Flying down the main road the grayish house appeared into call them and the entire car exploded with excited shouts. Simply seeing the small stretch of driveway vacant as a desert made Miles's hopes high that he could finally get to relive the tension growing between his legs. "Start stripping as soon as we hit the living room, lil' dude. I'm going to give you a refresh course on your favorite subject, my cock." exclaimed the older bronze wolf, practically push Kodie out to the pavement. Leon and Rues exited in nearly perfect opposite to their cousins rowdy display and walked up to the front door, tails swaying with each step.
"Never thought I'd get to say this but umm, where are me and the brat going to sclump it up at in your house?" Miles asked closing the door behind the group and Kodie shot him a dirty look. "Well you're welcome to use the attic. It's pretty spacious with an old mattress to go along. suggested Leon trying to really make it sound appealing. "Yeah but there's spiders up there! I remember from last time we spent the summer here." whined Kodie and Rues smiled empathetically. "Then you can use my room. It isn't very big but my bed's really comfy. Just you know, keep your shoes off it." Grinned a little dragon."Me and Leon normally pick his room anyhow. That's where we first thought about this entire relationship, so it's kinda' special for us."
"Shower's kinda' special for us too, huh Rues?" Leon added as the four of them made there way towards the stairs. Light giggling grew and continued until the had arrived at the respective doors. "So... See you about in an hour?" Miles asked from down the hall, one paw around his kid brother Kodie, the other on the handle. "Better make it two, there's something I'd promised Rues would get to do tonight and I got a felling I might need a while before I can walk again."
Rues's ears shot straight up and his tail arched off the floor like a spring. Still he held his breath, waiting for the others to disappear behind the far door. "Leon... Well, I..." a dead stop in mid sentence and the older brother leads his sibling to a more seclude spot where emotions could be expressed comfortably.
Clicking came as the inner-workings of the door's handle latched close followed by silence. Taking his role as big brother into action Leon reached guiding the pup to the desk chair. "Go ahead, sit down and relax. I know you have stuff you want to talk about, you've been shooting that look ever since we passed Papa G's pizza on the way back. With arm's tucked around a thin chest Rues stepped lightly to the seat. Taking a seat at the end of the bed himself Leon sighed out and folded his legs at the ankles.
"Okay Rues, go ahead I'm listening and you know I'll understand. What's this thing you've got on your mind, same as this morning?" Quietly Rues's head nodded slightly, two spiraled horns bobbing lightly and a slight dance in the long white fur between. "Today was great Leon.. One of the greatest I have ever had since the first time you kissed me.. I also got to do everything I've always wanted to. You took me to the where we had out first real date, you helped dress me up and let me be a girl for a day. I even got the chance to show what we have to other lovers who understand us. Because of that I realized something. I wanna' stay the way I am. It might not always feel a hundred percent right being a boy but I know it's because I'm like this that I got the chance to be with my hero; you Leon. So yes, it was nice to be a girl tonight but being a boy means I can love you in the ways you love me so..."
his words were cut short by his brother's tears and Leon raced to his side, crying blindly as he collided into an embrace. "Rues," Leon said with a sniffle as the last of his tears fell from his eyes onto white fur beneath. "I can't wait to have you hold me tonight." Their arms finally letting them part and Leon rolled them, supporting his little brother's weight on his beating chest.
"I'm happy to be called your brother again" Rues announced sliding his paws beneath the back of Leon's jeans intently. As the older sibling felt them inch below his waist he looked up at the dragon and murred. "I know that Rues and I' truly happy to hear it." Leon explained taking a long breath before continuing. "And you should know I'm happy to have you as my boyfriend. I love you brother, I always will."
