The Collector, Chapter 1: The First of Many.
Jake flipped on the TV and over to the news channel there was supposed to be something a bought his brother on tonight and he wanted to catch it before he had to go to the Dinner Mr. Conrad had invited him to tonight. It had been odd getting an invite from the man for a formal dinner only being 13 but then again he had helped with the project and he assumed that would be the main topic since they had finally finished.
The announcer of the station was just getting to the story as he looked over fitting a tie in to place, "The medical team under the direction of Jace Larzan completed there third working proto type today and received a patent. This new technology will allow people of all ages and races to be infused with the DNA. Thus eliminating most of the genetic diseases on the planet, No more cancer no more Aids and no more common colds ever again in your life. We took a trip out to see some of the fine men and women that worked on this project so lets roll the tape." from that it went to a nice sitting room where his brother and sister were sitting the two eldest Kent and Zera.
They asked the standard fair at first to break the ice things that were normal then got to some of the bigger questions, "Now I know you two are very excited but I have heard that some of the DNA you use isn't from humans but instead animals. Dose that mean that we will have a bunch of werewolves and others who look like them?"
Kent shook his head, "No nothing like that, the parts of the DNA we use aren't from the physical chain there for unless the person running the machine runs the code wrong and over rides the lock that would occur then there's no chance."
The interviewer nodded, "I see and what about the mind... you can make a new liver grow or stop heart decay can you change someone's mind... since its just electricity jolting around?"
Zera fielded this one, "No We couldn't make you think a certain way the worst we could do by changing DNA would be to change the chemicals the brain produces from a certain action, such as in the case of type one diabetes where they produce to much insulin when they eat, Our system can tell the brain not to produce that much but we cant make you learn something with our knowing the coding for it and that would literally take years to map one person let alone many."
Jake stopped watching. Zera his sister had told a lie there, It was true it would take years to map a person, but after that it would take a bought 20 minutes to map any one else. And the fact they had mapped one was to stay a secret. In fact the code was only in one computer in the world sealed with 7 key codes one of which he had and each of the other workers had with out them he doubted any one would figured it out since they really didn't know how the machines worked only how to operate them.
Then Jake looked at a clock, 7:30 If he didn't hurry he'd be late. So he finished his pampering and went outside where a cab stood ready to take him.
He arrived at the party only an hour later and walked up as the butler let him in saying "welcome sir, Mr. Conrad has been expecting you and he's very exited to meet you."
Jake nodded and thanked him as he was led to the dining room and showed to a seat at the end of a table that was at least 10 feet long. At the other end a man in a suit smiled at him and nodded. "Welcome Mr. Larzan and how are you this evening? " He asked in what Jake thought as a polite tone.
"I'm well sir our project finally took off thanks to your contributions and we received our patent today I trust your machine is fine?" he asked, If he was being called for maintenance then this Conrad guy had the wrong Idea, he encoded them and that was all, sure his job was necessary and he was the best at it but any other could do it given the time.
"Yes indeed it is, I was just testing it a few days ago and it works wonderfully, In fact I'm going to give it a full run through today. I hope you'll help me to test it." He said in some what of a fatherly voice. Jake nodded he was exited and he knew a bit so if there was a problem he might be able to help. Then Conrad stood, "Before we eat I have a few things I would like to show you." he said and Jake again nodded and stood.
They then exited the room and walked down a hall way that seemed like it belonged in a museum paintings adorning each wall, "You see Jake I'm a collector, an entrepreneur and a business man. I believe in getting what I want and doing it how I can and that's what I do here. Each of these are master work paintings and all in prime condition since they are one of a kind. "I don't allow prints but I do like to look at them."
After an hour of that they sat back down and the food finally came. Jake started to eat the salad and then the soup came. A bought half way through that he began feeling a little sick and asked where the bathroom was. "Down the hall to the left." was the response and he quickly went there.
Ounce inside he soon started to lose his orientation and began to sway violently. Then everything started to go dark and only voices could be heard. When he woke up again the first thing he noticed was the dark. It was almost pitch black and the little light that did come through really didn't help much. This was odd and Jake still wasn't sure what was going on but he knew that it wasn't good. And that he needed to get out of there. However, as he tried to stand up he noticed the soft leather restraints on his wrists and legs chaining him to the floor along with a soft yet firm bar keeping his pelvis in the air. "O sorry here let me turn on a little more light for you, " Conrad said again and with a dull thud the lights came on full force and almost blinding.

Now Jake knew what was going on and was able to fight back, "Not a chance creep" he yelled back up hurting his own ears which when he held them were a lot larger and on top of his head.
"Careful you'll hurt your new ear drums, they are very sensitive you know." he said with a small laugh.
"It doesn't matter I won't tell you!" he said in utter defiance.
"Actually you'll do just that... you see besides making you look, well much more beautiful and getting you out of those starchy cloths." Jake just then noticed he had nothing on only a little tail tilted down trying to cover his more personal region. "I've set up the chemicals in your brain to induce joy." he said.
Jake really didn't get it and a look of confusion came across his face for a moment and Conrad smiled at it, "O you don't get it well don't worry I'll explain, you see endorphins make you happy there the chemical in the brain that stimulates pleasure, I've simply set you up for an over load... and when I give it to you you'll want more... and that is when I'll get the information I want, when you want the shot of endorphins so bad you'll give any thing to have it. For now though your first shot."
As he finished a door slid open behind of Jake and through it walked what at first looked like a man. Then as he got closer Jake noticed this was no man... it was a rhinoceros, or a cross of one and a man. Two horns one at nose one a little higher ears and a tail to match along with thick muscles and a hard plated shell over every thing but a large pink brown sac hanging down and a look of joy on his face. "Jake I'd like you to meet one of my collection, Nerum. Now Nerum give this kid the time of his life and don't hold back."
