A Furry Story

Written by: Ashura L. Kusanaga

[Author's Note: The story continues. Some of you have written me wondering why so dark, but I have my reasons for this type of genre. So, here's another chapter of "Furry Dreams: History of Ash the Chimera".]

'Good night, honey" my mother whispered. "I love you."

"Good night, ma" I yawned. "I love you too."

"See ya in the morning" she yawned.

"Mmm-yeah..." I said falling right asleep.

However, that was not the case in the morning. My mother was not beside me when I awoke.

It turned out that experiments happened at odd hours in the morning, and my mother was first on today's list of things. Mind you, I had no idea what experiments they had in store, but the dreamless night had me more worried.

I usually looked at these dreams as plans for what's ahead in my life, but without a dream last night... I was lost.

"Hey you" said a soldier. It was the same one from last night, that escorted us to our chambers.

"Yeah?" I said, getting up and stretching.

"Docter Adams wishes to speak with you privately today" he said.

"Oh?"

"And that would be now, so come on... I'll get you some breakfast, and get you to Docter Adams."

I complied, and got breakfast, and went to see the Docter.

"What does he wanna talk about?" I asked, silently burping from the meal.

"I'm not allowed to tell you, but it will be for the benefit of your kind" he replied.

Docter Adams room was not where we went however. It was just another exam room, but only darker.

"Another exam?" I asked. I was then shoved by someone. As soon as I caught my balance, I pivoted on my heels. Him.

"Miss me?" asked a familiar cruel voice. The other soldier.

"You!?" I growled. He pointed his rifle at me.

"Docter Adams needs his protection, don't you, sir?" he asked. I turned back around. This was Docter Adams' room?

However it was not anything too different... until the Docter made a signal to the soldier, and the soldier hit the lights that is. The room lit up, and I could not believe my eyes. This couldn't be an exam room! Not with the schematics, the papers, and the set of tools near two tables.

"Be nice, soldier" Docter Adams barked. He was sitting beside a table with a cover on it.

"This isn't an exam room is it?" I said, worried.

"No, it's not... this is the surgery room... this is where genetic science is aided by physical means of cutting open, sewing up, and changing things" he explained calmly, walking towards me.

"Surgery? I thought this whole project was about understanding us! Not dissecting us!" I gritted my teeth.

"Oh, come now, don't you wanna help out your kind?" he said in a kind voice... too kind for me to believe him.

"I do, but-" I began.

"I wish to revive an ancient and exhinct species, and your family are the best matches we've had so far... your whole family has shown progress, even the young ones" he interupted. I leapt at him, only to be brought down by the rifle of the soldier. I couldn't move anything for a moment, and I could feel several people lift me up to be strapped into one of the tables. I could move again after was I set in, but not much as I was restrained.

"You're going to accept this upcoming injection, and the reason being is we are trying to help this world... we're trying to bring back a dead species" Docter Adams said making a motion for a syringe.

One was given to him, and at the same time, someone strapped my maw shut. The same soldier.

"Sonava vich!" I mumbled.

"For the better of science" Docter Adams said, as I was restrained some more. The Docter tapped my arm near the elbow, and stuck the needle into the vein that rose. My eyes went wide, and I made as much of a protest as I could.

Slowly, the fluid inside the syringe was hypodermically inserted into my bloodstream. There was a strange feeling as it coarsed through my body, but as soon as it hit my back and my heart, it begin to burn.

I moaned loudly in pain, as I tried to get free of the restraints, but nothing happened other than simply having the fluid go through me.

"It'll last for only a second more" the Docter whispered close to me, as my body was shutting down. I was shivering and then... I passed out.

"Where... Where am I?" I asked out loud. I opened my eyes, and as my vision slowly adjusted, I could see that I was still in the surgery room, but I could hear beeping.

"Number Five is coming to, Docter Adams" said the technician, Ruth.

"Good, good... how are you feeling?" he asked. I doubt he cared.

"I want to hurt you so much right now..." I murmured.

"As badly as you want to, you'll never get the chance" he smirked. "Make note that Five is normal, except for possible attitude or personality disruption."

I felt like I'd slept awhile, and so asked the question.

"How long was I out for?" I asked.

"Twelve hours" the Docter replied, and then I noticed the others... my family on the other tables. My whole family! Even my twin sisters, which seemed to be losing their "cubbiness". Everyone in my family was a little different looking.

"You did this to all of us?" I said. Docter Adams nodded, and then looked over to the others.

"That's true, I did... and you are all showing good signs of health from the injections" he said. "One table at a time, escort them back to the living chambers, but do the smaller ones first."

Each of us was let up, very groggy at that too, and one at a time. The whole process was slow, but finally it was down to my father and I.

I had felt bad, now and then, when I was at Kacey's. I knew I shouldn't have left my family. Knowing how things would've turned out, if I had not run away with Samantha... things would've been good. Knowing that Sam was a mother now, and I was a father, I now knew what my father felt being a father for the first time... even though I still hadn't seen my cub.

"Docter?" Ruth exclaimed while I was thinking of things. At the same time they said that, I felt a strange sensation overtake the upper part of my torso. It wasn't painful, but it still didn't seem good.

"Quick! Find Docter Taylor! We need to go into surgery now!" said Docter Adams. I couldn't move my head for some reason. I knew something was wrong, but I still couldn't move my head to look around. Then a pain finally hit me, right in the chest... a squeezing pain.

"Five's heart rate is crashing! Get Taylor now!" Ruth said panicking. "We're losing him!"

I knew something bad was happening to me now, but I couldn't move. And then I saw it. I saw me. I was getting a third perspective on my body. I was dying! I could see my father struggling to get free, to comfort me as I lay dying. But why? Why was I dying? The injection probably wasn't agreeing with my body. But then why not my parent's bodies, or my siblings?

The world was silent. And I was moving upwards. I was drifting up. Watching the surgery begin. And then I heard something. I heard a singing sort of sound. I turned around. Light. Beautiful light. Like nothing I'd ever seen.

"Heaven?" I thought. I was going up still, and I looked back at the situation briefly. I didn't look like I was gonna make it. I figured that I was well on my way to the great sky to join my ancestors. I turned back around to face the light. This wasn't so bad.

"It's not your time yet" whispered several disembodied voices.

"Of course it is!" I said.

"It's not your time yet, young one" they said again. I was drifting back down.

"When?" I asked, but there was no response. My vision turned black. I couldn't see or feel anything. I felt like I was just floating in nothingness.

It was peaceful. Quiet too. It wasn't my time to die. They never answered. Maybe they couldn't. I at least asked. Why not though? Damn it! Fuck them! It should be my time! I was having my chest cut open! Not one Furry I know could survive that.

Still black. I can't see. I can't hear. Was I in a coma?

"He's coming around, sister" whispered a voice. A familiar one at that. Kait?

"I hope he doesn't die" whispered another voice. Abby?

I opened my eyes. I was laying in bed. The same one I woke up in that morning. I tried to sit up, and failed. I was sore from not moving, I guess.

"Kait? Abby?" I asked, not believing my eyes. They nodded, but they weren't smiling very much.

"I can't move, help me up" I said. The twins helped me up, and I felt my chest. There was no scar or anything.

"My chest... there's nothing there from the surgery... but how long have I been out?" I asked. The two cubs... well pre-teens hugged me.

"We don't know, but at least you're up, brother" said Kait. At the same moment, I noticed two things. One- the chamber was different. It seemed to be a smaller chamber than before... or completely different all together. And two- there was a chart outside of the door to the chamber. The door was see-through... this was a new chamber then.

I got up, and I was still naked as was everyone else that was Furry in this lab. I stopped the twins from following me for a second, and went over to the chart.

"'Day 47: Five seems to have recovered fully, showing no signs of the emergency surgery that took place 46 days ago..."' I read out loud. I did have the surgery to fix my heart, but there was no scar... had those bastards injected me with a super species?

"You've been out a while, brother, but mom and dad haven't come back from the isolation chambers yet... so we've been looking after you since that day" said Abby.

I turned back towards them, and looked at them. Their fur had a different color to it, and their head hair did as well. And their tail! It wasn't like a Lion tail anymore, but more like another feline tail tip.

"We've all changed, brother" said Abby. She handed me a mirror, and I held it up. I almost dropped it. My facial structure, my fur, and my hair were completely different. I could still see many resembling marks of who I was, but I was changed almost completely.

"What about our parents again?" I finally spoke up. Abby shifted uncomfortably, and Kait answered.

"They're in the isolation chambers... they've been there since your surgery... they must've been awfully mad at the docters" she explained. Even though they both looked older, some parts of them seemed young still... their personalities perhaps. I smiled, and sat on the bed, and they followed suit.

"We'll just have to stick together until they return then, okay?" I said patting their backs. They nodded.
